Co-pyrolysis of plastic waste and macroalgae Ulva lactuca, a sustainable valorization approach towards the production of bio-oil and biochar

To address the pressing demand for sustainable energy in light of environmental challenges, this study explored the synergetic effects of the co-pyrolysis of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and Ulva lactuca macroalgae to yield bio-oil and biochar. The objective is to enhance the bio-oil quality for wider usability and to combat marine pollution. By employing co-pyrolysis, notable progress has been achieved in bio-oil yield and quality, particularly in hydrocarbon content, through the integration of PET. The highest bio-oil yield of 37.91 % was achieved under optimal conditions at 500 °C with a feedstock mixture consisting of 40 % U. lactuca and 60 % PET. Under these conditions, the bio-oil exhibited a significant increase in hydrocarbon content, reaching 57.16 %, which is essential for improving its energy potential. Biochar quality was also enhanced, with the biochar from a 70 % U. lactuca and 30 % PET blend showing a BET surface area of 20.18 m2/g, compared to the initial 1.38 m2/g of raw U. lactuca, indicating improved surface properties. This study presents a sustainable energy generation and environmental preservation approach, underscoring the potential of synergistically utilizing marine resources and plastic waste.

The practice and innovation of compatible marine utilization models in China

Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) is essential for optimizing marine resources allocation and resolving conflicts in sea use, but it is challenged by the complex and multi-functional nature of maritime resources. This study utilizes participatory methods, inductive reasoning, and overlay analysis to explore both theoretical and practical aspects of compatible marine utilization models. The paper begins by clarifying the logic of compatible sea use through marine functional zoning and identifying its core characteristics: quantity, spatial conflict, and impacts on natural attributes. Building on China’s national territorial spatial planning reforms and practical experiences, the paper introduces three major categories of compatible marine use models: development sequencing compatibility, spatial coexistence compatibility, and functional synergy compatibility. A compatibility discrimination matrix is developed to assess these models across different marine functional areas. Combined with the compatibility discrimination results, taking the marine and coastal spatial planning of Yantai City in China as a case study, the paper analyzes the compatibility demands and planning strategies within various marine functional areas. Finally, it evaluates the risks associated with each compatibility model and proposes targeted control strategies tailored to the specific features of each model and characteristics of sea use activities. The research findings highlight the positive role of compatible sea use models in promoting marine economic development, enhancing spatial efficiency, and mitigating sea use conflicts. However, these models also present varying potential risks, necessitating differentiated control strategies aligned with legal frameworks and specific sea use activities. The study offers valuable insights for MSP and contributes to the efficient utilization of marine resources and the advancement of marine spatial governance.

Design, preparation, and performance of marine resource-based alkali-activated cementitious materials

The construction of islands and reefs and marine engineering cannot depend on cementitious materials, and how to utilize marine resources to prepare cementitious materials is the key to realizing the convenient construction of marine engineering. In this paper, starting from the necessary composition for the formation of gels, the effects of different activation methods on their activities were investigated by utilizing coral and diatomite as calcium and silicon sources, respectively. The study results show that using calcined coral to activate calcined diatomite resulted in a 28 days strength of up to 2.89 MPa, but it was not processable. The precursor with volcanic ash can be prepared by co-calcining coral and diatomite under lower temperature conditions, and its calcination temperature needs to be no less than 800 °C. In addition, characterization by XRD, FTIR, SEM and BET showed that increasing the calcination temperature helps to form more active substances with volcanic ash, such as CaO, CaSiO3, and Ca2SiO4, which can improve the compressive strength of alkali-activated materials prepared from them. The highest strength growth rate of 3.03 % and 28 days compressive strength of 10.80 MPa were obtained when the co-calcined temperature was 850 °C. The results of this study can provide some reference for the development of marine resource-based cementitious materials.

Sedimentation analysis in the shipping lanes of Tanjung Rhu Port, Belitung

Abstract Ports are a vital infrastructure needed to optimize the transportation and utilization of marine resources. As an essential means, shipping lanes must be in good condition so that the sea transportation process runs smoothly. This paper analyzes the sedimentation conditions in the shipping lane at the Tanjung Rhu port in Belitung. The investigation used a numerical model with Delft3D to predict shipping channel sedimentation over 10 years. Based on the simulation results, sedimentation occurred at the mouth of the shipping channel because the current speed was low in that area. This fact is due to conditions in the field, namely that it is difficult for ships to enter this route. Negligence can cause a ship to run aground, especially when seawater conditions are low.

An LADM-based profile for marine geo-regulation: A case study of China

With the rapid development of the marine economy, the transfer, lease and other transactions of marine use right in China's coastal areas have emerged continuously. At the same time, to promote the effective protection of marine environment and resources, the establishment and reform of marine property rights system has become a very important part. To play the basic role of the market and environmental protection in the utilization of marine resources, it is very important to establish the corresponding property right registration system. In response, the central government has proposed the establishment of a unified registration system for real estate and natural resources nationwide, including in marine areas. Therefore, this study takes China's marine administration as the research object and constructs a conceptual model based on LADM, which serves as an important basis for the subsequent registration system development. Specifically, this study first summarizes the evolution process of China's marine administration system since the founding of China. Secondly, it puts forward the existing marine rights system. Then, based on the LADM standard and the instance-level diagram for marine administration activities, the corresponding LADM-based profile is developed. The core improvement of this model lies in the improved structuring of marine-related rights, restrictions and responsibilities (as well as related source documents), which is an important preparation for the expansion of land information infrastructure to the sea.

Numerical study on the flow characteristics of an integrated fish cage based on the monopile offshore wind turbine foundation

The integration of net cages and offshore wind turbines can effectively develop and utilize marine resources and is one of the important ways of intensive use of the sea. The numerical simulation of the hydrodynamics of an integrated fish cage based on the monopile offshore wind turbine foundation in currents is carried out. The realizable k-ε model is adopted and the porous media model is used to simulate the net. To verify the validity of the numerical model, the numerical result is compared with the data of the corresponding literature. The results show that the numerical method is effective. On this basis, the flow field distribution results of the integrated structure at different velocities are calculated. At the center of the downstream zone of the integrated structure, the time-average velocity is lower than 80 % of the initial velocity. The effects of the net solidity and the cage draught on the flow field characteristics of the integrated structure are analyzed. The results show that the increase of net solidity will significantly reduce the velocity inside the net cage and in the downstream zone of the cage. As the net solidity increases from 0.14 to 0.32, the average velocity attenuation inside the net cage increased by 13.9 %. The change of cage draught will affect the velocity distribution in the horizontal and vertical directions. When the cage draught increases, the velocity on both sides in the downstream zone of the integrated structure increases more than 5 %. It is expected that the results of this study can provide data support for the design of integrated structure of net cages and offshore wind turbines.

Evaluation of Antioxidant Activity of Residue from Bioethanol Production Using Seaweed Biomass.

This study explores the potential of producing bioethanol from seaweed biomass and reusing the residues as antioxidant compounds. Various types of seaweed, including red (Gelidium amansii, Gloiopeltis furcata, Pyropia tenera), brown (Saccharina japonica, Undaria pinnatifida, Ascophyllum nodosum), and green species (Ulva intestinalis, Ulva prolifera, Codium fragile), were pretreated with dilute acid and enzymes and subsequently processed to produce bioethanol with Saccharomyces cerevisiae BY4741. Ethanol production followed the utilization of sugars, resulting in the highest yields from red algae > brown algae > green algae due to their high carbohydrate content. The residual biomass was extracted with water, ethanol, or methanol to evaluate its antioxidant activity. Among the nine seaweeds, the A. nodosum bioethanol residue extract (BRE) showed the highest antioxidant activity regarding the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) activity, ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP), and reactive oxygen species (ROS) inhibition of H2O2-treated RAW 264.7 cells. These by-products can be valorized, contributing to a more sustainable and economically viable biorefinery process. This dual approach not only enhances the utilization of marine resources but also supports the development of high-value bioproducts.

A framework for assessing the blue equity of social-ocean systems in marine governance transformation

The equitable utilization of marine resources and the maintenance of healthy and sustainable marine ecosystems are essential to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and promoting the well-being of all humanity. In this paper, we propose a Blue Equity Assessment Framework, which is based on a systematic literature review approach and takes into account the characteristics of Social-Ocean Systems (SOSs). The framework consists of Distributional Equity, Procedural Equity, Recognitional Equity, and Contextual Equity. The aim of this framework is to conduct equity analyses of policies or behaviors within SOSs in order to assess whether blue equity is explicitly implemented and practiced in these societal norms and policy mechanisms. The assessment framework reveals that blue equity has a positive synergy for the majority of the SDGs. This synergy is analyzed in terms of its influence on the assessment dimensions of distributional justice, procedural justice, recognitional justice, and contextual justice. The findings aim to enhance societal understanding of blue equity issues, thereby guiding policymakers in the prioritization of blue equity in the development and utilization of marine resources and in the transformation of global ocean governance.

Assessing the strength of deep-sea surface ultrasoft sediments with T-bar penetration: A machine learning approach

With the expansion of marine resource utilization, geological disaster prediction, and ecological protection in deep-sea regions, accurate identification of deep-sea engineering geological environments has become paramount, highlighting the significance of understanding the mechanical characteristics of deep-sea surface ultrasoft sediments (DSUSs). However, DSUSs typically exhibit low strength, high compressibility, and significant fluidity, making sampling for indoor strength testing a challenging task. On-site testing employing a T-bar penetrometer has become increasingly prominent for assessing DSUS strength, but the complexity of influencing parameters limits the application of this valuable method. This study utilizes a validated computational fluid dynamics (CFD) approach to model the complete process of T-bar penetration into a DSUS. The aim is to understand the quantitative effects and corresponding mechanisms of various significant complex parameters, including the undrained shear strength, dimensionless penetration depth, rate effect, and interface contact condition, on the dimensionless penetration resistance coefficient. Additionally, a machine learning model based on the random forest algorithm is introduced to establish a multiparameter evaluation method for the dimensionless penetration resistance coefficient. The findings illuminate the intricate interactions and effective evaluation of these factors when evaluating DSUS strength using a T-bar penetrometer, addressing the above challenges in marine engineering geology and the environment.

PERAN KELEMBAGAAN LOKAL DALAM PENGELOLAAN SUMBERDAYA LAUT SEBAGAI UPAYA PENINGKATAN PEREKONOMIAN MASYARAKAT PESISIR (Studi Kasus di Kawasan Taman Nasional Wakatobi (TNW))

The rise of threats or intersections from marine resource utilization activities that are not environmentally friendly and do not pay attention to the sustainability and sustainability of marine resources results in less economic stability of coastal communities. Therefore, it is necessary to manage and supervise the utilization of potential marine resources so as to ensure the sustainability of marine resources, improve and encourage economic strengthening of coastal communities, especially fishermen. The purpose of this study is to examine the role of local institutions in marine resources management as an effort to improve the economy of coastal communities in the Wakatobi National Park area. The informants used in this study were fishermen, members or heads of fishermen groups, members or heads of customary groups, members or heads of non-governmental organizations. The types of data used include primary data and secondary data. Data collection techniques use interviews, observations, Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and literature studies. The data analysis used in this paper is qualitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that the role of local institutions in marine resources management as an effort to improve the economy of coastal communities in the Wakatobi National Park area, namely: 1) socializing the use of environmentally friendly traditional fishing gear so as to maintain minimum size and fishing season, fish populations remain sustainable, maintain fish production in the long term; 2) apply marine management and protection methods based on local wisdom (Sasi Method); 3) Advancing conservation partnership programs as an effort to encourage community welfare and conservation area sustainability; 4) encourage the involvement of fishing groups in the processing and processing of catches such as fish drying, preservation or seafood processing; 5) Support local economic empowerment, create local jobs and help coastal communities overcome poverty through cooperation with financial institutions and training institutions in coastal economic enterprises; 6) supervise and regulate the sustainable use of marine resources based on indigenous peoples as an effort to maintain the carrying capacity of the environment, livelihoods or the main economic resources of coastal communities; and 7) help promote sustainable coastal and marine tourism.

PUF and Chaotic Map-Based Authentication Protocol for Underwater Acoustic Networks

A secure and effective authentication and communication scheme between users and underwater sensors plays an important role in improving the detection and utilization of marine resources in underwater acoustic networks (UANs). However, due to the energy limitations and susceptibility to capture of underwater sensors and gateways, it is necessary to design a lightweight authentication protocol that can resist capture of sensors and gateways during attacks. In this paper, a lightweight authentication protocol for UANs based on the Physical Unclonable Function (PUF) and chaotic map is proposed. We used the advantages of PUF to resist sensors and gateways being captured in attacks and the chaotic map to achieve lightweight authentication because the computational cost of the chaotic map is almost one-third that of Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC). Additionally, we used the formal security proof in the random oracle model to prove the security of the proposed scheme. Our scheme was more secure and efficient compared with some other related schemes in terms of security and performance requirements, and the proposed scheme is suitable for UANs.

Exploring Integrated Ocean Management Policy in China: Evolution, Challenges, and Prospects

Integrated ocean management (IOM) aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and serves as a crucial strategy for promoting the enduring health of marine ecosystems and the sustainable utilization of marine resources. An analysis of the evolution of China’s integrated ocean management policy (IOMP) is crucial for providing valuable guidance in achieving sustainable growth in marine management and the marine economy for both China and other coastal nations worldwide. This paper studies the evolution characteristics, challenges, and prospects of IOMP in China since 1978 using content analysis. The findings indicate that the evolution of IOMP can be categorized into four stages: the germination period (1978–1998), the construction period (1999–2009), the systematization period (2010–2017), and the strategization period (2018–present), based on the state of international marine management. The IOMP has transitioned over time from its initial emphasis on resource development during the germination period to a strategization period that prioritizes the full development of all parts of the system. However, the ultimate goal has consistently been to achieve harmonious coexistence between people and the sea. China’s IOMP has experienced a progressive development; nevertheless, it continues to encounter obstacles such as the pressing requirement to revise sea-related policies and the absence of policy alignment. The objective of this paper is to explore the evolution, challenges, and prospects of China’s IOMP to better improve the land–sea coordination policy, strengthen international judicial cooperation. and provide effective policy reference for other maritime countries.

Coastal ecological security assessment in Laizhou Bay, China: from the perspective of demographic-social-economic-natural complex ecosystem.

Assessment of ecological security is essential for understanding the status of bay ecosystem and developing appropriate management strategy. Based on the driving force-pressure-state-impact-response (DPSIR) model, the demographic, economic, social, and ecological data of Laizhou Bay and its three neighboring counties were selected for the period from 2015 to 2021. An ecological security evaluation index system of Laizhou Bay containing 26 indicators was established, and the weights of each indicator were determined by the methods of AHP and EWM, and a comprehensive evaluation of the ecological security of Laizhou Bay was carried out by ESI. Correlations between indicators were analyzed by the Spearman's rank coefficient of correlation. The results showed that there were significant correlations between marine conditions and indicators such as population size in the surrounding area, mariculture area, industrial and domestic wastewater discharge, and treatment rate. Overall, from 2015 to 2021, the ecological security of Laizhou Bay showed a favorable trend, from a relatively unsafe level to a generally safe level, and then to a relatively safe level. Through the comprehensive evaluation of the ecological security of Laizhou Bay, we can recognize the utilization of marine resources and ecological carrying capacity, guide the rational development and utilization of marine resources, and promote the sustainable development of the marine economy.

Monitoring Dissolved Oxygen Concentrations in the Coastal Waters of Zhejiang Using Landsat-8/9 Imagery

The Zhejiang coastal waters (ZCW), which exhibit various turbidity levels, including low, medium, and high turbidity levels, are vital for regional ecological balance and sustainable marine resource utilization. Dissolved oxygen (DO) significantly affects marine organism survival and ecosystem health, yet there is limited research on remote sensing monitoring of DO in the ZCW, and the underlying mechanisms are unclear. This study addresses this gap by utilizing high-resolution Landsat 8/9 imagery and sea surface temperature (SST) data to develop a multiple linear regression (MLR) model for DO estimation. Compared to previous studies that utilize remote sensing band reflectance data as inputs, the results show that the red and blue bands are more suitable for establishing DO inversion models for such water bodies. The model was applied to analyze variations in the DO concentrations in the ZCW from 2013 to 2023, with a focus on Hangzhou Bay (HZB), Xiangshan Bay (XSB), Sanmen Bay (SMB), and Yueqing Bay (YQB). The temporal and spatial distributions of DO concentrations and their relationships with environmental factors, such as chlorophyll-a (Chl-a) concentrations, total suspended matter (TSM) concentrations, and thermal effluents, are analyzed. The results reveal significant seasonal fluctuations in DO concentrations, which peak in winter (e.g., 9.02 mg/L in HZB) and decrease in summer (e.g., 6.83 mg/L in HZB). Changes in the aquatic environment, particularly in the thermal effluents from the Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant (SNPP), significantly decrease coastal dissolved oxygen (DO) concentrations near drainage outlets. Chl-a and TSM directly or indirectly affect DO concentrations, with notable correlations observed in XSB. This study offers a novel approach for monitoring and managing water quality in the ZCW, facilitating the early detection of potential hypoxia issues in critical zones, such as nuclear power plant heat discharge outlets.

Research on A Ship Trajectory Classification Method Based on Deep Learning

The unrestricted development and utilization of marine resources have resulted in a series of practical problems, such as the destruction of marine ecology. The wide application of radar, satellites and other detection equipment has gradually led to a large variety of large-capacity marine spatiotemporal trajectory data from a vast number of sources. In the field of marine domain awareness, there is an urgent need to use relevant information technology means to control and monitor ships and accurately classify and identify ship behavior patterns through multisource data fusion analysis. In addition, the increase in the type and quantity of trajectory data has produced a corresponding increase in the complexity and difficulty of data processing that cannot be adequately addressed by traditional data mining algorithms. Therefore, this paper provides a deep learning-based algorithm for the recognition of four main motion types of the ship from automatic identification system (AIS) data: anchoring, mooring, sailing and fishing. A new method for classifying patterns is presented that combines the computer vision and time series domains. Experiments are carried out on a dataset constructed from the open AIS data of ships in the coastal waters of the United States, which show that the method proposed in this paper achieves more than 95\% recognition accuracy. The experimental results confirm that the method proposed in this paper is effective in classifying ship trajectories using AIS data and that it can provide efficient technical support for marine supervision departments.

Exploring Seasonal Variations in Fish Communities: A Study of the Yellow River Estuary and Its Adjacent Waters Using eDNA and Trawl Surveys

The Yellow River Estuary and its adjacent waters serve as crucial spawning, foraging, and nursery areas for marine organisms, possessing abundant biological resources. Monitoring fish communities provides a baseline for implementing the sustainable utilization of marine resources. In this study, data were collected from 15 spring surface and bottom sites and 17 summer surface sites using eDNA and trawl surveys. The results showed that 37, 40, and 35 fish species were detected using eDNA in the spring (surface and bottom) and summer (surface), respectively, with 38 fish species caught during summer trawling. The dominant species mainly belonged to Engraulidae of Clupeiformes in the spring and Gobiidae of Perciformes in the summer, characterized by smaller-sized, short-lived, and pelagic fish species. The summer surface communities exhibited higher diversity than the spring surface and bottom communities. NMDS analysis revealed a degree of seasonal differences in fish communities and that there may be a lack of vertical stratification in the spring communities. The pH and DO were identified as the key environmental factors affecting the fish community. Additionally, the combination of eDNA and trawl surveys was regarded as a superior survey method. Our study provides valuable information for understanding seasonal fish communities in the Yellow River Estuary and its adjacent waters, contributing to fishery resource management and conservation in the region.

Multi-source remote sensing big data mining reveals cross-regional correlation between aquaculture and Enteromorpha disaster outbreaks

ABSTRACT Marine aquaculture is one of the most important marine resource utilization types, widely distributed in seashore areas. Because mass marine aquaculture development will lead to the eutrophication disaster of macroalgae blooms (green tide), it is imperative to discover the latent relationship. Inspired by the big data analysis theory, the spatiotemporal correlation change in 2017 and 2019 of the marine aquaculture and macroalgae blooms in Jiangsu Shoal in the West of the Yellow Sea and its adjacent seas were monitored and extracted respectively based on multi-source remote sensing images. Through optical and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images, the imaging characteristics of marine aquaculture in different growth cycles and sea conditions are analyzed. The relationship between the green tide and marine aquaculture harvest was explored from the early green algae distribution and spatiotemporal distribution changes. The earliest harvest area of marine aquaculture is the exact location of the outbreak of green tide. Along with the rapid reduction of aquaculture area, the distribution range of green tide gradually increased. The two showed opposite trends through many multi-source remote sensing data statistical analyses. Therefore, they have a strong correlation, which can be utilized to offer a significant value for the balance of marine environmental protection and resource development.

Toward better governance of the marine environment: an examination of the revision of China’s marine environmental protection law in 2023

The marine economy has become an increasingly important contributor to the global economy due to advancements in science and technology and humans’ growing ability to manipulate nature. As a country with a vast marine territory, China has the important responsibility of utilizing marine resources rationally and promoting sustainable development of the marine economy. Since the introduction of the Marine Environmental Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China (MEPL) in 1982, China has made significant progress in strengthening the legal framework for marine environmental protection. MEPL has undergone several revisions to improve its legal content under the guidance of national policies. On October 24, 2023, the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress revised and adopted MEPL again. This paper analyzes the changes in the contents of the new law and the legal background at home and abroad while integrating the domestic and international legal backgrounds. This paper provides an in-depth analysis of the changes made in the new law, summarizes the revision ideas, and examines the new law in the context of domestic and international laws. The aim is to provide a clear understanding of the spirit and purpose of the legislation.

Blue Carbon Ecosystems for Climate Resilience in Indonesia: A Study of Adaptation Strategy

Climate change due to global warming will have an impact on marine and coastal ecosystems, including causing loss of biodiversity and threatening the sustainability of marine and coastal resources. The Sixth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) made Indonesia, which is a tropical archipelagic state as one of the hotspots that is very at risk of being affected by global warming. This risk is especially experienced by cities on the coast. Therefore the importance of adaptation, especially in dealing with the impacts of climate change that has already occurred. The adaptation process cannot be delayed any longer because the earth’s temperature will certainly increase beyond the threshold of 1.5 degrees Celsius in 2030 compared to the pre-Industrial Revolution temperature of 1850. Currently, the global temperature increase has reached 1.1 degrees Celsius. Therefore, Indonesia must immediately make adaptation efforts by utilizing the Blue Carbon Ecosystem which is based on research that blue carbon can absorb and store 100 times more carbon and is more permanent than forests on land. This stored carbon can be stored for thousands of years. Because of this great potential, coastal ecosystems can play many roles as adaptation solutions and mitigation of climate change impacts. Therefore researchers conduct research with the aim of the research is to create Strategies and Adaptation Efforts for Utilizing Blue Carbon Ecosystems: Disaster Resilience, Climate Crisis, and Sustainable Development, with the main target of implementing Resource Based Theory in developing strategies for utilization of Marine Resources, especially Utilization of Carbon Ecosystems Blue in Indonesian marine environment. This research is expected to provide theoretical and empirical evidence related to the development of blue ecosystem utilization strategies, climate crisis, and sustainable development.

Blue Economy from Perspective of Al-Qur'an

This research concludes that from the Al-Qur'an perspective, the maritime concept with a blue economy perspective is an integral approach, where the utilization of marine resources, which are referred to as al-Bahr and al-yam in the Al-Qur'an, needs to integrate several aspects interrelated maritime affairs. Reduction of one maritime aspect can result in ineffectiveness in dealing with the complexity of maritime problems as a whole.The framework used in this research includes the following aspects:First, Aqidah: Humans are seen as caliphs who are responsible for the universe that Allah rules. Second, Sharia: Maritime natural resource utilization activities must be in accordance with the principles of Islamic law. Third, Morals: Improvement with adaptive innovation for the efficiency of natural resources, fair distribution, and consumption that does not damage or waste natural resources.This research supports the views of several figures such as Robert Maltus, Langdon Gilkey, Seyyed Hossein Nasr, Donella H. Meadow, Arne Naess, Edith Brown Weiss, and Gunter Pauli, who emphasize the need for wise management of natural resources for sustainability. The research method used is a qualitative method with the Tafsir Maudū'i (thematic) interpretation method.This research differs from the views of several figures, such as Hugo Grotius, Adam Smith, David Ricardo, Immanuel Kant, and Garret Hardin, who have different views regarding natural resource management. Thus, this research proposes a holistic approach based on Islamic values in viewing and managing marine resources to achieve economic and environmental sustainability.
