In the young, noncardiac, nontraumatized healthy individual, however, recurrent pulmonary embolization is a relative rarity. We recently treated a 40 year old housewife who, over a 10 year period, suffered more than 100 episodes of pulmonary embolization of undiagnosed origin. The diagnosis of pelvic varicocele was eventually established, and the patient was treated and cured by vena caval ligation and surgical excision of the source of the emboli.Our...Bibliography1.
