This article addresses the growing integration of digital culture in early childhood education, exploring digital tools, impacts on child development, advantages and challenges associated with the use of technology in this context. The literature review reveals a growing trend in the use of educational applications, digital games and other relevant digital resources in early childhood education classrooms. While technology offers opportunities for personalization of learning and development of skills such as language and problem-solving, it also presents challenges, including inequalities in access, concerns about inappropriate content, and the need for proper supervision. This study contributes to the field of early childhood education by providing a comprehensive analysis of the benefits and challenges of digital culture, highlighting implications for educational practice, and suggesting future directions for research.

Dampak Pemanfaatan Gawai terhadap Pemerolehan Bahasa Anak Usia 3-6 Tahun: Pendekatan Ramah Anak

This study aims to explore the impact of gadget use on language acquisition in children aged 3-6 years using a child-friendly approach. The use of gadgets is increasingly widespread among children, raising concerns about its effects on their language development. This study employs qualitative methods, including observation and interviews with children aged 3-6 years in the vicinity of Desa Lemper Rt 001/002 Pademawu, Pemekasan. The results indicate that children who excessively use gadgets tend to experience delays in vocabulary acquisition and verbal communication skills. However, with a child-friendly approach, such as the use of educational applications and proper parental supervision, negative impacts can be minimized. Children who use gadgets in a controlled manner with appropriate content show improvements in word recognition and storytelling abilities. In conclusion, gadgets do not always negatively impact children's language development if used wisely and properly supervised. It is crucial for parents and educators to understand how to positively and child-friendly utilize technology to support optimal language development. This research provides significant contributions in the effort to integrate technology into children's lives without neglecting the aspects of their language development.

Greek parents' profile concerning the use of smart mobile devices and their educational applications by preschool and elementary school children

This study examines Greek parents' attitudes towards using smart mobile devices and their educational applications by children aged 4-7 in an informal learning context. The research sample comprised parents whose children attended Crete's public kindergartens and primary schools during 2020-2021. A 30-item Likert-scale questionnaire assessed parents' attitudes toward smartphones and their educational applications. The factor and cluster analyses were conducted, and three parent profiles emerged: neutral, sceptical, and optimistic. Neutral parents value the use of educational applications by their children. Sceptical parents are the ones who attach great importance to the adverse effects that the use of digital technology can have on their children. Optimistic parents are the ones who consider the use of educational applications essential but also are the ones setting ground rules regarding its use. Parents' views regarding smart mobile devices' use are of immense importance, as well as their general perspective, commitment, and support towards their children, as they greatly influence the latter's learning experiences at home.

Educational digital game for the development of skills in children outside the literacy range

The use of educational applications is becoming increasingly common, parents and guardians are already looking for ways to make their children develop skills from an early age that facilitate the literacy process, such as thinking, following the rules, motor control, memory, among others. The great challenge for these parents is to find something to train this knowledge without their child being disinterested in practicing, and the use of technology can make this problem something tangible when well planned and executed. The use of gamification provides a basis for application developers to create software capable of meeting what is necessary for the child to evolve learning and, of course, having fun. The game was conceived and modeled (UML), defining the necessary software requirements for this target audience and built using the Construct 3 tool. A validation stage will be carried out in which there will be the collaboration of pedagogues and early childhood education teachers to verify the possible contributions of the game. The preliminary results of the design and construction of the digital game are presented here.

Teachers assistance of Google for education in supporting education 4.0

Teachers in the education era 4.0 are asked to be able to do learning that is not limited to space and is full of learning resources electronically and connected to the internet. However, today it is no longer a secret that students who are young learners master technology more than adults who still apply traditional learning methods that are currently deemed less effective. This community service program is carried out with the aim of increasing the ability of teachers to use Google for Education in facing education 4.0 at MTs Muhammadiyah 1 Malang city partner schools where mastery of the use of educational applications can be implemented as a learning support medium. The implementation of this internal community service program uses workshop and mentoring methods. The place of program implementation is at MTs Muhammadiyah 1 Malang city. Meanwhile, the number of participants was six English teachers. The workshop was held for one day and was followed by mentoring for three months to produce a Google for Education based course material design. The result of this internal community service is the production of a mentoring module to improve teacher competence in utilizing the Google application as a medium for teaching English. Through this module teachers can apply their skills in optimally improving student learning outcomes. Based on the data and discussion it can be concluded that the community service has been successfully implemented.

An assessment of utility of educational apps in medical education among undergraduate medical students - A cross-sectional survey

Background: Advanced technologies such as a smartphone, laptop, tablet, and iPad allow web browsing and use of online applications (Apps). It is a novel thought to integrate medical educational Apps in academic curriculum. They facilitate a quick access to evidence-based information. Usage of Educational Apps is constantly rising in developing countries like India. Hence, it is rationale to understand the use of Educational applications as an academic tool among medical students from a developing country context. Aims and Objectives: The aims and objectives of the study are to assess the utility of Educational applications in Medical Education and its advantages and disadvantages, among undergraduate Medical students. Materials and Methods: The study was designed as a cross-sectional survey to assess emerging patterns of educational applications use by medical undergraduate students. A structured Google Form online-based questionnaire was utilized for our study as a method of data collection. Results: In our study, we found that above 60% of 205 electronic device users were using their device for medical education. There was significant increase in the use of electronic device in medical education for online lectures, notes taking in our study. Study participants had an upstanding opinion (P = 0.79) toward advantages of electronic devices which were insignificant in the study. The responses by participants of various domains which include utility, opinion, perspectives, and limitations in addition to their correlation was analyzed. Conclusion: The lessons learned from this study are majority of the students use educational applications mainly for learning and communication purpose. With increasing use of electronic devices by students, it is rationale to consider these applications in the learning environment and incorporate in the medical curriculum in the near future.

애플리케이션 기반 수학교육이 유아의 수학능력과 애플리케이션 활용 태도에 미치는 영향

Objectives This study is to examine the effects of application-based mathematics education on young children's mathematical ability and attitude to application utilization. Methods The purposes of this study wFor this purpose, 87 children aged 3 to 5 years (45 experimental group and 42 comparative group) were selected from early childhood education institutions in the metropolitan area. The experimental group conducted mathematical activities in the mathematics education application with parents at home, and the comparative group used the activity sheets consisting of the same concept as the contents of the mathematics education experienced by the experimental group. The collected data were statistically processed using the program for SPSS 25.0 Windows. Before and after the experiment, the experimental group, the infant's mathematical ability, and the attitude of using educational applications were measured, and the data were analyzed by conducting covariance analysis (ANCOVA) and independent sample T-test. Results Application-based early childhood mathematics education has a significant effect on young children's mathematical ability and attitude to use applications. The mathematical ability of the children was found to affect the number, operation, geometry, and measurement of the sub-areas, and the attitude of the children's use of educational applications had a positive effect on the competence of the sub-areas. Conclusions This study suggests that application-based mathematics activities can be an effective method for early childhood mathematics education.

The Use of Mobile Learning in Elementary School: Is It Important?

This study describes the use of mobile learning technology for students at the elementary school level. There are many educational applications, so researchers want to know whether these applications are needed for education. In this study, in order to understand how students, understand the use of educational applications that can be used on mobile devices, a qualitative method is used. Researchers in this case also use data collection techniques by conducting semi-structured interviews with students and elementary school students who use cellular technology in learning activities. The children said that using instructional apps had helped them improve their skills. When they work in groups, they develop relational and communication skills. On the other hand, there are some students who do not see the value or convenience of using educational apps on their mobile devices. The result of this research is the application of arithmetic and storytelling helps children improve their cognitive abilities. At the same time, when they interact with others, this activity stimulates them and offers emotional benefits. Use Study participants demonstrated a wide range of learning skills and capacities, as demonstrated by this study. Finally, this work offers new possibilities for future research in this exciting field.

Implementation of Blockchain Technology in Learning Management System (LMS)

It is well known by the public that the development of science and technology has progressed very rapidly and even continues to increase from year to year, especially in the education system. But in reality, there are still many learning systems that use conventional methods. This method makes the learning process passive and inactive. But now by implementing blockchain into the online learning process and there is no conventional learning process that makes learning activities boring and technology-saturated in the educational learning system at Raharja University, making the learning process more effective and efficient. The objectives of using blockchain technology in education include developing educational curricula, improving the use of educational applications, processing data about education. The research method is carried out by collecting data and using the literature study. So that the presence of blockchain technology makes the education system at the forefront. This application is done so that the learning system can be done with easy access, without being limited by space and time so that it is more efficient. It can even motivate to increase exploration in the learning process which in turn will increase student productivity, of course.

A Learning Analytics Conceptual Framework for Augmented Reality-Supported Educational Case Studies

The deployment of augmented reality (AR) has attracted educators’ interest and introduced new opportunities in education. Additionally, the advancement of artificial intelligence has enabled educational researchers to apply innovative methods and techniques for the monitoring and evaluation of the teaching and learning process. The so-called learning analytics (LA) discipline emerged with the promise to revolutionize traditional instructional practices by introducing systematic and multidimensional ways to improve the effectiveness of the instructional process. However, the implementation of LA methods is usually associated with web-based platforms, which offer direct access to learners’ data with minimal effort or adjustments. On the other hand, the complex nature of immersive technologies and the diverse instructional approaches which are utilized in different scientific domains have limited the opportunities for research and development in this direction. Within these research contexts, we present a conceptual framework that describes the elements of an LA process tailored to the information that can be gathered from the use of educational applications, and further provide an indicative case study for AR-supported educational interventions. The current work contributes by elucidating and concretizing the design elements of AR-supported applications and provides researchers and designers with guidelines on how to apply instructional strategies in (augmented) real-world projects.

The Knowledge and the Use of Educational Applications from University Students in Spain and the Czech Republic

Technological evolution has led to many changes at both professional and academic levels. The inclusion of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) has caused dizzying changes in the different contexts of life (educational, professional, social). More and more applications are being downloaded by users to their mobile devices, both for entertainment and training. For this reason, this study is based on the need to assess the knowledge and attitude of university students towards downloading existing educational applications. In this way, the use and frequency of these tools in the teaching-learning process of the students will be analyzed. In order to carry out this study, the quantitative methodology has been taken into consideration with the collection of data with a sample conformed by a total of 278 students of Higher Education between Spain and the Czech Republic. For this purpose, a survey has been prepared as an instrument of analysis, which has been validated by experts in the field. Among the most outstanding results, it can be seen that in both countries, students download educational apps to a greater or lesser degree, according to their interest and subject matter. Likewise, there is a lack of competences and skills in the use of these new technologies as a training complement. Based on this, we propose the continuous training of students and teachers in the knowledge and pedagogical use of ICT in general and educational apps in particular.

Evolution and Analysis of Hapkit: An Open-Source Haptic Device for Educational Applications.

We present the design, evolution and analysis of "Hapkit," a low-cost, open-source kinesthetic haptic device for use in educational applications. Hapkit was developed in 2013 based on the design of the Stanford Haptic Paddle, with the goal of decreasing cost and increasing accessibility for educational applications, including online teaching, K-12 school use, and college dynamic systems and control courses. In order to develop Hapkit for these purposes, we tested a variety of transmission, actuation, and structural materials. Hapkit 3.0, the latest version, uses a capstan drive, inexpensive DC motor, and 3-D printed structural materials. A frequency-domain system identification method was used to characterize Hapkit dynamics across the various designs. This method was validated using a first principles parameter measurement and a transient response analysis. This characterization shows that Hapkit 3.0 has lower damping and Coulomb friction than previous designs. We also performed a user study demonstrating that Hapkit 3.0 improves discrimination of virtual stiffness compared to previous designs. The design evolution of Hapkit resulted in a low-cost, high-performance device appropriate for open-source dissemination and educational applications.

Acceptance of a mobile-based educational application (LabSafety) by pharmacy students: An application of the UTAUT2 model

Several cultural and psychological factors can affect the behavior of users towards the use and acceptance of mobile-based educational applications. One of the methods to measure the factors resulting in the acceptance of mobile-based educational applications is Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT). The objective of this study was to evaluate the behavioral intention of the pharmacy students for acceptance and long-term use of the mobile-based application for educating safety measures in pharmaceutical laboratories (LabSafety) using UTAUT2 in 2017–2018. The research population was all pharmacy students (n = 241) who had experience of using the LabSafety application. Data were collected using a translated and modified version of the UTAUT2 questionnaire. The Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) was used for statistical analysis. Based on the obtained results, “Performance Expectancy”, “Social Influence” and “Habit” had positive effects on “Behavioral Intention”. “Behavioral Intention” had significant positive effects on “Use Behavior”. The effect of “Habit” on “Use Behavior” in men was higher than women. As a result, the usefulness of educational applications such as LabSafety, their positive impact on the improvement of students’ efficiency, and the influence of the faculty member’ viewpoints on their use can result in frequent and daily use of these applications.

한국어 학습자의 의사소통 불안과 한국어교육용 앱(APP) 사용의 관련성 연구

This study examines the relationship between the communication anxiety of Korean language learners and their use of applications in Korean language learning. Since the smartphone market started in 2010, it has developed applications for Korean language education and, today, various Korean language learning applications are available. The purpose of this study is to examine how the preferences of Korean language learners influence their intention to use Korean language learning applications. Accordingly, the study involved measuring the communication anxiety and innovativeness of Korean language learners and examining whether they use applications to learn Korean and how frequently they use such applications. Results revealed that 80% of the respondents use Korean language education applications. On examining the relationship between learners’ characteristics and the learning method, the study reveals that technological innovativeness of learners is associated with their tendency to study Korean using the Internet or mobile applications. The current study, which examines the relationship between learners’ tendencies and use of educational applications in Korean language learning, is significant in that it reveals how the development of diverse learning methods not only diversifies the methods of learning but also facilitates the design of customized learning methods suited to individual learners.

Smart Classroom for Teaching Learning at Secondary Level in West Bengal: An Exploratory Study

The objectives of this paper are to study the availability of equipments and softwares in smart clasrrom and to find out the ICT training of teachers and use of different educational applications by teachers in teaching. Survey method was used with sample of 25 secondary schools selected from three districts (Darjeeling, Hooghly and Siliguri) of West Bengal, India randomly. Self developed and validated questionnaire consisting of 40 items based on availability of equipments, softwares, training of teachers and use of educational applications etc were used as tool for collecting data from school principals. The data were analyzed in terms of frequency count, percentage and average followed by qualitative descriptions. The study indicated that all secondary schools have desktop and projectors in smart classroom but 88% of schools do not have laptop and no schools have interactive board which is important for smart classroom. Half of the teachers are trained in using smart class and ICT for taking class and few schools have subject specific educational softwares. Majority of teachers does not use smart classroom every day for teaching learning. The study suggested that all schools must be equippied with proper digital devices and subject specific softwares. Teachers must be oriented or trained in smart class pedagogy for taking class as it fosters students cognitive capacities. Further, teachers must be encouraged and motivated by educational authority and school principal for using smart classroom facilities in regular teaching activities.

Valoración de las competencias tecnológicas del profesorado universitario: Un estudio en la Facultad Regional Multidisciplinaria de Carazo (UNAN-Managua)

Este artículo pretende identificar el nivel de conocimiento sobre TIC que tienen los docentes de la Facultad Regional Multidisciplinaria de Carazo (UNAN-Managua) y priorizar las necesidades formativas en el ámbito tecnológico más relevantes para los docentes. El estudio se afronta desde un enfoque metodológico cuantitativo; se aplica una adaptación del cuestionario derivado de la investigación sobre Competencias TIC para la docencia en la universidad pública española. Los resultados muestran que el profesorado requiere y demanda mayor formación en tres dimensiones: fortalecer conocimientos asociados a las TIC y su rol en el nuevo contexto de la educación superior, arbitrar mecanismos de búsquedas avanzadas y selección de información en la Web y un mayor conocimiento y uso de las aplicaciones educativas de la Web 2.0.

The information technology and the university: use of educational applications by students

This research aimed to identify what are the factors that lead university students to the intention of using applications offered by educational institutions, through a study of students who already have the educational application installed. The applications offer facilities such as the search of collections, reservations and loans in the library, access to class schedule, among other options. A survey was performed with 133 students who used the educational application studied and the analysis was developed by structural equation models. The results show that the aid in the daily academic activities, the provided hedonic motivations and the habit positively influence the intention of use. The technical part involved in this procedure (download, installation and search for information) and the influence of other people did not influence use. The study broadens the understanding of the aspects related to educational applications, thus enabling the use of its results to make decisions on the provision and development of apps for this purpose.
