One of the most striking intellectual developments of the past two decades has been the growing influence of rational choice-based thinking among non-economists in the social sciences. By 1992 rational choice-based articles accounted for two fifths of the contents of the American Political Science Review, and rational choice fundamentalists were increasingly making over US political science departments and graduate curricula in their image.
