The acute illness occurred at a period when it might be assumed that a tuberculous process was present. In most instances the disease was in a far advanced stage when the diagnosis of tuberculosis was made subsequent to the acute illness. In some cases, death occurred from tuberculosis soon after acute symptoms suggesting pneumonia, and diagnosed as such, developed.
