Jonathan Atkinson, as Editorial assistant of production, and Bárbara Altivo, as Media Manager, operated for, through the collaborated job, the different actions/activities of the Journal would be sustained.

Importance of the Mandatory Supervised Curricular Internship for academic training in the nursing course – Experience report

Considered to be the most important moment in the undergraduate course, the supervised internship is important for the student to be able to actually relate practice and theory. This is the moment when the student starts to experience their future reality as a professional, observing the work of the nurse as a professional in their historical context, under the supervision of the nurse and tutored by the teacher. The aim of this paper is to report on the importance of the Compulsory Supervised Curricular Internship for academic training in the undergraduate nursing course. This is a descriptive study of the experience report type, based on the experience of a 5th year undergraduate student in Nursing at the State University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UEMS), this work used bibliographic research in the Scielo and Google Scholar databases as a method. The purpose of the supervised internship is for us to be able to apply and relate all the theory studied during the undergraduate course, a stage in which this student is inserted into the health services and will develop the skills necessary for a professional in this category. As a result, we experienced moments in the work environment as well as the conduct of the nurses responsible in the Basic Health Unit, in addition to all the learning acquired over the three-month period. Finally, it can be concluded that the opportunity to learn from professionals in their daily lives adds directly to the learning that was lacking for the student to acquire a greater wealth of confidence and knowledge.

Processo de formação de professores: debate sobre a Cultura Corporal no curso de Licenciatura em Educação do Campo da Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul

O objetivo do texto é discutir a Cultura Corporal no processo de formação de professores do Curso de Licenciatura em Educação do Campo (LEDUCMPO), oferecido pela Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS), sinalizando para o impacto que essa abordagem teórico-metodológica pode exercer nas escolas do campo com vistas à construção de uma educação vinculada ao pensamento coletivo, na busca da superação do modo de produção capitalista que sucumbe o homem e a natureza em prol do desenfreado acúmulo do capital, transformando em mercadoria descartável tudo o que pode gerar lucros extraordinários ao capitalista. Para tanto, utilizamos as técnicas de pesquisa bibliográfica e documental. Consideramos que a Linguagem Corporal, analisada a luz da teoria que embasa o entendimento da Cultura Corporal, contribui de maneira significativa para mudanças de paradigmas nas escolas do campo brasileiras. Cinzas no Pantanal (2021): questões socioambientais e educativas

This article aims to discuss the Brazilian short film Ashes in the Pantanal (2021), lasting 3 minutes and 21 seconds, in its aesthetic devices, and bets on its constitution as an emancipated filmic work. The work depicts the great fires that occurred in the Pantanal in 2020. The film by filmmaker Mariana Marques and animated by Tiago Franco, produced in stop motion, used scenarios and characters made in origami by artist Elder Alves, requiring more than 350 team working hours. The short film was financed with funds from the Aldir Blanc Law, with the mediation of the Municipal Department of Culture and Tourism (Sectur) and the Municipality of Campo Grande - Mato Grosso do Sul. This work is linked to the research Cine childhood: critical perspectives of cinema – education, UEMS (State University of Mato Grosso do Sul), and the study and research group GECCAE (Group of Critical Studies in Culture, Art and Education). The theoretical contribution of film analysis undertaken here is linked to Critical Theory theorists, especially Adorno (2003), Adorno and Horkheimer (1985), Horkheimer (1939), Benjamin (1994), Fraser and Jaeggi (2020) and cinema, Tarkovski (1998), Vanoye; Goliot-Lété (1994). The choice of the film Cinzas do Pantanal is due to the strong appeal that the production presents to the preservation of this rich Brazilian biome that suffers year after year with fires during the drought period. The film analysis will permeate both the audiovisual techniques used and the socio-environmental and educational issues related to the theme.

Innovation in the pandemic: the actions of the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul to guarantee the rights of the university community

The Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS), in order to meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and guarantee the constitutional rights to health and higher education of its university students, adopted innovative initiatives during the Covid-19 pandemic, allowing the maintenance of academic and administrative activities. With the emergency remote teaching for students and home office for servers, emergency aid for digital inclusion was made available, such as costing internet packages, mobile data chip distribution, electronic equipment loan, financing of personal protective equipment and installation of internet via radio in villages for indigenous students. Professors were offered training courses on information and communication technology tools and innovative methodologies for remote teaching. Furthermore, UFMS offered free molecular testing and diagnosis of Sars-Cov-2 to members of the academic community of Cidade Universitária who presented symptoms of Covid-19. All these actions carried out by UFMS, besides highlighting it on the national scene, made it possible to complete the 2020 academic calendar within the same year, an achievement that took place only in two other Brazilian federal universities.Keyword: Innovation in the pandemic. PESQUISAS SOBRE GÊNEROS E SEXUALIDADES NA EDUCAÇÃO: TENTATIVAS DE VER, REVER E ‘TRANSVER’ O MUNDO

This article aims to describe research carried out within the Group of Studies and Research in Sexualities, Education, and Gender (Gepsex) at the Faculty of Education of the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS). The researches are theoretically-methodologically based on gender studies, sexuality studies, feminist studies, cultural studies, and Foucault's assumptions, from a post-critical and poststructuralist perspective. We sought to think the research based on fragments of poetry by Manoel de Barros to discuss issues such as the deconstruction of unique truths; resistance in daily life and in doing research; the transience of scientific knowledge; questioning the meanings of language as the production of realities and subjectivities and thinking about the micro at the expense of metanarratives.Keywords: Research. IEEE GRSS Mato Grosso do Sul (Brazil) Student Branch Chapter: 2020 Activities [Chapters

The Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS) IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) Student Branch Chapter, also known as MS GRSS IEEE Student Chapter, is located in Mato Grosso do Sul State, Brazil. The Chapter represents a partnership of students and researchers from two labs: the Geomatics Lab at UFMS and the Inovisão Lab at Catholic Dom Bosco University (UCDB). The advisors are Prof. José Marcato Junior and Prof. Hemerson Pistori. The 2020 administrative organization is presented in <xref ref-type="fig" rid="fig1" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">Figure 1</xref> .

Tilapia skin and its applicability in the treatment of burns

Burn accidents present a relevant frequency in Brazil and worldwide, maintaining high morbidity and mortality rates. Burn care requires long treatment, numerous consultations, dressing changes and long hospital stays, generating high costs for the health system. The objective of this study is to propagate the theme to increase the understanding of the recent biological dressing with the use of tilapia skin and its applicability in the treatment of burns. The innovative method created in Brazil, has as principle the use of tilapia skin for dressing on burns, with eminent potential in medicine for the treatment of these wounds, where the technique with “biological dressing” has been used since 2016. 19 contributed to a significant increase in burns due to the use of alcohol, both liquid and gel, in the home environment and many accidents with child burns. This study is of an applied nature, exploratory objective, qualitative approach and bibliographic procedure from reliable scientific bases, with a 10-year periodicity, where studies were found, reinforcing the effectiveness of the use of tilapia skin, as well as its benefits , histological features and tests in humans. The research was conducted at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS) – Faculty of Medicine (FAMED). The research demonstrated that the biological dressing with tilapia skin is an innovative method in the treatment of burns, being a high quality bioproduct, showing biological capacity to cover burns, collagen properties, tensiometric strength and a biomaterial potential in regenerative medicine.

QUATÉRNIOS: GENERALIZAÇÃO DOS NÚMEROS COMPLEXOS NA PERSPECTIVA DO USO DO SOFTWARE EDUCATIVO GEOGEBRA E O SOFTWARE ON-LINE LIVRE QUATERNION

This article was carried out under the Tutorial Education Program (PET Mathematical Knowledge connections), of the Mathematics Degree Course at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS) - Três Lagoas Campus (CPTL). Our objective was to present both the consolidation of Complex Numbers (1833) and the class of hyper-complex Quaternions (1843), both conceptualized by Sir William Rowan Hamilton, as well as using the Free Educational Software GeoGebra and the Free Online Software QUATERNION, as alternative pedagogical resources facilitating the development of the teaching and learning process of abstract mathematical content.

Estágio Supervisionado no curso de Licenciatura em Educação do Campo: reflexões acerca da prática docente

The purpose of the text is to report the experiences obtained in the supervised internship carried out by the students of the first group of graduates of the Degree in Rural Education (LEDUCAMPO) course, which was offered by the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS), developed in the schools of the different municipalities in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul (MS). Bibliographic research was carried out with qualitative approaches that argue about the supervised internship in school education as well as, analysis of reports, lesson plans organized by LEDUCAMPO academics during the period of the supervised internship, evaluations carried out by the supervising teachers, in addition to the documents produced in the UFMS that legitimize the internship process. The centrality of the internship in rural education must be anchored in the assumptions of teacher preparation that makes the academic understand that the public school is exclusionary, marginalized and guided by the dominant ideology that seeks training to meet the demands of the labor market, contrary to this, the academic must promote a humanistic and progressive education.

O uso de microcontroladores na formação de futuros professores de matemática: reflexões entre elos criativos

O presente relato tem como objetivo discutir até que ponto e de que maneira o uso de microcontroladores em práticas docentes baseadas em elos criativos pode contribuir para a formação de futuros professores de Matemática. Para tanto, realizou-se o estudo na disciplina Prática de Ensino II, no Curso de Licenciatura em Matemática, na Universidade Federal do Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS) - Campus Campo Grande. Elaborou-se, como aporte teórico-metodológico, a Cadeia Criativa, a qual está ancorada na abordagem sócio-histórico-cultural de desenvolvimento, articulada aos aspectos históricos, conceituais e práticos inerentes à plataforma de prototipagem Arduino. Ao longo da pesquisa, adotou-se, como instrumento de coleta dos dados, o diário com registro das reflexões dos partícipes. O trabalho resultou em contribuições distintas, tanto no que concerne à ampliação do repertório relacionado à prática de programação, quanto na relevância do compartilhamento de desejos e sentidos no contexto da formação inicial de professores de Matemática.

Os bebês e a Educação Infantil: concepções de pedagogas em processo de formação inicial

Esse artigo apresenta um estudo que teve como objetivo identificar as concepções de estudantes ingressantes no Curso de Licenciatura em Pedagogia da Universidade Estadual de Mato Grosso do Sul (UEMS), de Dourados, Mato Grosso do Sul, sobre bebês e sua educação em espaços coletivos. A importância dessa investigação é justificada na medida em que as concepções mapeadas influenciam a maneira como se organiza as práticas pedagógicas com os bebês nas instituições de educação infantil. Participaram desse estudo treze estudantes do primeiro ano do referido curso, as quais optaram por se matricular na disciplina eletiva denominada “Conhecimentos e saberes sobre as práticas com bebês na educação infantil”. A coleta de dados foi feita mediante aplicação de um questionário e ocorreu no início do ano letivo. Conhecer as concepções das ingressantes no curso em relação ao trabalho pedagógico com bebês é importante, pois contribui para a reflexão sobre a formação inicial de professores na Universidade, possibilitando discussões que promovam o repensar de ideias que possam não ser adequadas à sua formação acadêmica.

A evasão na Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul (2008-2012)

Este artigo, inserido no campo de estudos da educação superior, tem como objeto de investigação a evasão na Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS). O objetivo geral é analisar o processo de evasão na UFMS no período em que foi implementado o Programa de Apoio a Planos de Reestruturação e Expansão das Universidades Federais (Reuni), considerando estudantes ingressantes em cursos de graduação nos anos de 2008 a 2012; e que concluíram sua graduação entre os anos de 2013 a 2018, no campus de Campo Grande. Para atingir o objetivo proposto, recorreu-se, por um lado, à coleta de documentos institucionais e compilação de dados oficiais. Por outro, foi levantada a produção já existente sobre a temática. Como resultado, os dados demonstraram que a evasão foi elevada no período considerado, em 43,5%. E, mais precisamente, o ano de 2011 apresentou o percentual mais significativo (56,3%). Além disso, constatou-se que cursos da Grande Área “Ciências Exatas e da Terra” apresentaram médias mais expressivas de evasão (63,3%), assim como os cursos voltados para a formação de tecnólogos (74,8%) e as carreiras ofertadas no período noturno (60,5%).

Tetranychus mexicanus (Acari: Tetranychidae) IN SOURSOP SEEDLINGS IN THE STATE OF MATO GROSSO DO SUL, BRAZIL

Phytophagous mites belonging to the family Tetranychidae are considered pests of a wide range of plant species of agricultural importance in the Annonaceae family. This study aimed to reports the occurrence and attack symptoms of the mite Tetranychus mexicanus (McGregor) (Acari: Tetranychidae) on soursop seedlings (Anonna muricata L.). High mite infestation on the leaves of soursop seedlings was reported in a seedling production nursery made of black Sombrite® screen with 35% restriction of full daylight, located at the State University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UEMS), in Cassilândia, MS, Brazil, during the month of October 2015. Attack symptoms were on the adaxial side of the leaves, whereas mite colonies were located on the abaxial face of the leaves. The injuries started by yellowing of the leaves and curled edges, and later by the fall of the attacked leaves. This is the first record of the occurrence of T. mexicanus in soursop seedlings produced on agricultural screenhousein the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil.

Gestão Escolar: um estudo de caso na concepção dos diretores

O presente trabalho objetiva apresentar um estudo de caso realizado na disciplina de Gestão Escolar do 4° Semestre do Curso de Pedagogia da Universidade Federal do Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS) diante das discussões em sala de aula, do qual foi solicitado pela professora que realizássemos uma entrevista com um diretor de uma escola pública ou privada para conhecer como é a função do gestor nestas escolas. As entrevistas foram realizadas com dois diretores de duas escolas públicas municipais, onde estes relataram sobre as dificuldades, as superações e os contrastes encontrados na gestão escolar, além de seus anseios diante das normas impostas e das resistências que enfrentam para administrar os problemas financeiros, pedagógicos e até pessoais que perpassam por toda a escola. A proposta inicial da entrevista é que ela fosse filmada do qual apenas o primeiro entrevistado permitiu que fosse feito desta maneira, já o segundo optou pela gravação da entrevista em áudio, permitindo que colocasse fotos da escola. Desta forma, aqui estão situadas as perguntas realizadas e as respostas dos entrevistados relacionado-as com teóricos que dão alusão a gestão democrática e suas características, promovendo uma análise e reflexão sobre o que é a gestão e como ela é vista hoje por aqueles que atuam nesta área da educação. A partir deste estudo, verificou-se que o gestor escolar exerce um papel de grande responsabilidade perante a comunidade escolar e que quando este trabalho é realizado com a participação efetiva de todos, a gestão democrática torna se possível.

POLÍTICA DE COTAS E BANCAS DE HETEROIDENTIFICAÇÃO NA UFMS: UMA HISTÓRIA EM CONSTRUÇÃO

This article aims to present the itinerary run by Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS) during the process to implement Quota Policy and committees to check self-identification of race in order to be admitted blacks under-graduated students. For this purpose, we use official documents and bibliographical research, looking for a link between those documents and the practices that materialize the Banks that have been evaluated the veracity of the black candidates’ self-declarations for vacancies destinated to black students (black and brown). Heteroidentification is one of the elements for the develop affirmative action policies in higher education in Brazil after the 12.711/2012 Federal Law. The UFMS developed the heteroidentification committees through documents that made them official and standardized. The work carried out by the evaluation and verification committees represents an advance to implement of quota’s policy in UFMS. Additionally, we highlight its importance to minimize frauds.

Anaplasic Ependymoma in a Dog

Background: Anaplastic ependymoma is a rare primary intracranial neoplasm in dogs and cats, which originates from ependymal cells that line the ventricular system of the brain and spinal cord. Normally, this neoplasm occurs as a single, expansive mass that develops mainly in the lateral ventricles, and neurological changes are due to local tissue impairment and peritumoral tissue compression. This article reports a case of anaplastic ependymoma in a dog treated at the Veterinary Hospital of the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS), emphasizing and describing the neurological signs and histopathology of this tumor.Case: This article reports the case of a 11-year-old mongrel dog with a history of butting its head against obstacles, of compulsive walking, and altered proprioception of the right side limbs. The condition evolved to positional strabismus of the left eye, left lateral deviation of the head, vertical nystagmus, decreased level of consciousness, and constant lateral decubitus. Due to the suspicion of intracranial neoplasia and worsening of its clinical condition, the animal was euthanized. Necropsy of its body revealed a mass of approximately 3 cm in diameter in the third ventricle (in the left lateral region). A histological examination revealed random clusters of ependymal cells with a few rosettes and pseudorosettes. The cells were cuboid to cylindrical in shape, with moderate eosinophilic cytoplasm with indistinct borders, and round to oval moderately hyperchromatic nuclei with 1-2 visible nucleoli. Based on these findings, the tumor was characterized as anaplastic ependymoma.Discussion: Intracranial tumors occur more frequently in older animals, and usually neurological signs tend to evolve progressively. Most affected dogs are mongrels, like the dog described in this report, but Golden Retrievers, Boxers, Labrador Retrievers, German Shepherds, Bullmastiffs and Rottweillers are breeds that can also be affected by this type of tumor. The main differential diagnoses for masses in the ventricles of the brain are choroid plexus papilloma, ependymoma, medulloblastoma, epidermoid cyst or dermoid cyst. Considered a rare tumor, ependymoma typically affects the ventricular system, which may impair CSF drainage, with consequent development of prosencephalic symptoms such as seizures and compulsive walking. The vestibular signs that were also observed were attributed to the proximity of the affected site to brainstem. Ependymomas are well-defined, soft, with a smooth surface, pale to reddish, and usually larger than 2 cm. When sectioned, they may exhibit cystic, necrotic and hemorrhagic areas. Histopathologically, they are densely cellular and highly vascularized, characteristically forming rosettes and pseudorosettes. In this reported case, the neurological signs were attributed to the presence of a tumor in the third left lateral ventricle. A definitive diagnosis can only be made based on a histopathological analysis of the tumor, using biopsy or necropsy specimens. Treatment consists of reducing the size of the tumor with chemotherapy or radiotherapy or removing it completely and controlling the side effects through palliative therapy. However, in this case, a lack of diagnostic resources such as advanced imaging and brain biopsy did not allow for the diagnosis of ependymoma in the third ventricle of the live animal, thus precluding therapeutic attempts.

THE INFLUENCE OF INITIAL IRRIGATION ON THE GROWTH OF TWO HYBRIDS OF EUCALYPTUS

In order to maximize the productivity of forest species, techniques such as irrigation have been used. The objective of this study was to evaluate the water use efficiency and the influence of the irrigation located in the growth of the hybrids of eucalyptus Grancam and Urograndis at 65 months. The study was carried out in the experimental area of the State University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UEMS), in Aquidauana (state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil). The experimental design was randomized blocks with subdivided plots. The treatments used in the plots were two irrigation systems (microsprinkler and drip) and one control treatment with no irrigation (dryland), and in the subplots, the two hybrids of eucalyptus: Grancam (Eucalyptus grandis x Eucalyptus camaldulensis) and Urograndis (Eucalyptus urophylla x Eucalyptus grandis), submitted to irrigation up to the 53° month after planting (MAP). The results were submitted to the analysis of variance and the Tukey test for means comparisons at 5% of probability. The use of irrigation in eucalyptus influences the productivity, providing increased wood volume, height of plants and diameter at breast height (DBH). The hybrid Grancam showed greater increase in height, and Urograndis increased in DBH. The higher efficiency of water use for the volumetric production of wood was observed in drip irrigation for the hybrid Grancam. The hybrid Urograndis is more efficient in the use of water for the volumetric production of wood regardless of the treatment.

Alternatives of storage of corn grains for the conditions of the brazilian cerrado

The storage of grains under technical conditions in favorable environment ensures grain quality and regulates the supply of raw material for food production. For this reason, the objective of this study was to evaluate the different forms of storage (aerated silo, non-aerated silo, silo bags and airtight) of grains produced in the Brazilian cerrado, over time (zero, three and six months), for different physical qualities of maize (normal grains, whole grains and broken grains). The research was conducted at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS), Chapadao do Sul Campus (CPCS), Grain Postharvest Laboratory. To determine the physical-chemical quality and the physical properties of grains over six months, samples were taken from the stored lots. Analysis of variance and comparison of means by Tukey’s test were conducted at 5% probability. The six-month storage time was the main factor contributing to the reduction of the quality of maize grains. Storage alternatives with aeration, non-aeration, bags and airtight environment did not influence the physical properties of maize grains. The broken maize grains showed the worst physical and chemical quality during storage time, while the batch of whole corn grains differ in quality during storage. It was concluded that airtight storage and storage in aerated silos were the conditions that best preserved the physical and chemical quality of maize grains over time.

Um Estudo da Criação e Desenvolvimento de Licenciaturas em Matemática na Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul

Este texto apresenta um estudo da história da Licenciatura em Matemática, da Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS). Primeiramente, discutimos a criação e posterior federalização da Universidade e o percurso das Licenciaturas em Matemática nos seus diversos campus. Em seguida, analisamos especificamente a Licenciatura em Matemática do Instituto de Matemática, campus de Campo Grande, tendo como fonte as principais mudanças curriculares ocorridas em 30 anos e um levantamento da quantidade de seus egressos nesse período, bem como de sua atuação profissional. Para isso, foram consideradas fontes documentais diversas e respostas de egressos a questionários. Os resultados mostram que é preciso repensar a formação inicial tendo em vista a necessidade de professores para atuarem na Educação Básica.
