THE FACTORS ANXIETY INFLUENCE STUDENTS’ READING ALLOUD AT UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

The purpose of this study will to determine the anxiety factor of students in reading English aloud in class. The methodology used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The research data were obtained using two instruments, namely observation and a questionnaire containing questions related to what are the causal factors in reading anxiety. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The population in this study were students from Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar. The number of samples used was 13 students in 1 class. The results finding provide by qualitatively and quantitatively. The result of the study show that the level of anxiety to read aloud with an average of 61.03%, with the calculations obtained from the questionnaire data. From the observation results show that there are two factors in anxiety when reading aloud, namely internal and external factors. Among these factors, internal factors show a higher or prominent level of anxiety on aspects of worrying about reading effects and fear of making mistakes. Which can be minimized with several stages, preparation, relaxation and positive thinking.

STUDENTS’ LIVED EXPERIENCE OF SOCIAL ADJUSTMENT IN INTERNATIONAL CREDIT TRANSFER PROGRAM: A PHENOMENOLOGICAL STUDY

This study aims to look into the social experiences of students in the seventh semester of Universitas Muhammadiyah Kendari's English language education program who have completed the International Credit Transfer program at Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology in the Philippines. A phenomenological research design was used to conduct the study. The participants of this study were four students. Two of the four students were male, while the other two were female. Semi-structured interviews were conducted face-to-face with each participant. The findings showed that the ICT program provided the students with valuable experiences that broadened their perspectives, improved communication skills, and enhanced their ability to accept and adapt to diverse social environments.

Effectiveness of Reducing Turbidity Levels of Tofu Industry Wastewater with Alum Coagulant

Tofu industry liquid waste is one of the pollutants that can pollute the environment, especially can cause turbidity in rivers, lakes, and other waters. One of the countermeasures is to treat the liquid waste by giving alum coagulant. The purpose of this study was to measure the turbidity level of tofu industry wastewater before and after the application of alum coagulant and calculate the effectiveness or optimal dose/concentration of alum coagulant. This research is a type of quantitative research with a quasi-experimental research design. The research was conducted at the Public Health Laboratory of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta in January 2024. The data analysis technique used was quantitative to determine the effectiveness of alum coagulant, the test used was anova test. The results of this study indicate that the level of turbidity in the liquid waste of the tofu industry after the coagulation process using alum is at a concentration of 2 ml which produces a decrease in turbidity levels of 22.93%, a concentration of 4 ml produces a decrease in turbidity levels of 26.24%, a concentration of 6 ml produces a decrease in turbidity levels of 29.08%, and a concentration of 8 ml produces a decrease in turbidity levels of 36.41%, so that the optimum dose / concentration of alum coagulant is 8 ml because it has the best effectiveness value in reducing turbidity levels in the liquid waste of the tofu industry.

The Relationship Between Service Quality and Individual Characteristics with Patient Satisfaction of Teledentistry Service Users at RSGM Universitas Muhamadiyah Yogyakarta

Teledentistry is the use of information and communication technology in treatment, counseling, education, to improve dental and oral health during the COVID-19 pandemic. Teledentistry services as a medium for dental and oral health consultation need to pay attention to the quality of service and individual characteristics which are the main determinants of health services. The purpose of the study was to identify the relationship between service quality and individual characteristics with patient satisfaction of teledentistry service users. Cross sectional type of research. The technique of taking subjects using simple random sampling. The number of respondents was 125 renpondents. The research instrument uses servqual with Likert scale and patient satisfaction instrument with Likert scale. Respondents filled in individual characteristic data consisting of age, gender, education level and occupation. Data analysis in this study used pearson correlation test and multiple linear regression test. The Pearson correlation test showed that there was a relationship between service quality (p = 0.001) and age with patient satisfaction (p = 0.001) and there was no relationship between sex (p = 0.076), education level (p = 0.542) and occupation (p = 0.363) with patient satisfaction using teledentistry services. The results of multiple linear regression tests showed a significant relationship between service quality (?= 0.126; p= 0.001) and age (?= -0.044; p=0.025) with patient satisfaction using teledentistry services at RSGM Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. The better the quality of service, the higher the level of patient satisfaction, the younger the age, the higher the level of patient satisfaction. There is no influence of gender, education level and occupation on patient satisfaction of teledentistry service users at RSGM Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta.

THE ANALYSIS OF SERVICES MARKETING MIX ON STUDENTS' DECISIONS IN CHOOSING UNIVERSITAS MUHAMMADIYAH SIDOARJO

In a highly competitive market, companies and service providers, especially those in higher education, may experience frequent shifts in consumer preference. The marketing mix strategy of the 7Ps, which consists of promotion, product, place, price, people, process, and physical evidence, can have a significant impact on a student's decision to choose a university. This study used a descriptive quantitative research method, utilizing a Likert scale survey distributed to 89 respondents. The survey measured variables such as promotion, product, location, price, people, process, and physical evidence. Multiple regression analysis was conducted, and the F-test and t-test were used with a 90% confidence level and a value of ὰ = 0.05. The regression coefficient of determination revealed that the independent variables explained 68.7% of the dependent variable (student decision). The variable of people had the highest value of 0.689 on the standardized coefficient, making it the most influential among the independent variables. The study concluded that the 7P marketing mix variables, particularly promotion, product, location, people, and physical evidence, positively and significantly impact a student's decision to choose Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo.

The Relationship Between Social Support, Self-Efficacy and Procrastination and Student Academic Stress in Distance Learning During the Covid-19 Pandemic

In the midst of the pandemic, changes in the education system at all levels have become a necessity. Face-to-face classroom learning has shifted to distance learning, utilizing various media tools such as Schoology, Zoom, and others. This change has brought significant impacts on students, one of which is the increased level of academic stress. Academic stress can be influenced by various factors, including self-efficacy and the tendency to procrastinate, as well as social support from the surrounding environment. The aim of this research is to examine the relationship between social support, self-efficacy, academic procrastination, and academic stress experienced by students during distance learning. This study employs a quantitative correlational method, involving 408 undergraduate students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. Respondents were randomly selected using criteria that they had participated in distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. The collected data were then analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. The results of the study indicate that social support, self-efficacy, and academic procrastination are correlated with academic stress, with a correlation coefficient (R) of 0.442 and an effective contribution of 19.6%.

Determinants of impulse buying behavior: The mediating role of positive emotions of minimarket retail consumers in Indonesia

Impulse buying is characterized by quick and unplanned purchasing decisions often triggered by perceived necessity or attractive offers. Minimarkets operate on a smaller scale than hypermarkets and supermarkets but significantly influence consumer behavior, mainly because they use various promotional strategies. This study aims to determine the effect of price discounts and store atmosphere on impulse buying behavior through positive emotions. This study was conducted in Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia, using a non-probability sampling approach; an online questionnaire was used to collect data from 180 participants through Google Forms. The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM) and partial least square (PLS) estimation methods. The results showed that price discounts and store atmosphere significantly affect positive emotions and impulse buying (p < 0.05). Positive emotions significantly affect impulse buying (p < 0.05). In addition, price discounts and store atmosphere affect impulse buying through positive emotions (p < 0.05). This study uncovers the complex mechanisms underlying consumer responses in the convenience store landscape, providing important insights for retailers and marketers in navigating the evolving retail terrain. The Influence of Using Microsoft Office SWAY Based Learning Media on Student’s Learning Outcomes in Educational Foundations Courses at Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang

This study aims to find out is there an influence of using Microsoft Office SWAY-based learning media on student’s learning outcomes in the Foundations of Education course at Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang? This study uses a quantitative which is used to research certain populations and samples, with the aim of testing predetermined hypotheses. In this study, the respondent was all students of the first semester education administration study program in the Foundations of Education course, totaling 30 students. The results showed that there is an influence of the use of Microsoft Office SWAY-based learning media on student learning outcomes in the Foundations of Education course at the Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang.

The Effect of Discounts, Free Shipping, Online Customer Reviews on Purchasing Decisions at the Shopee Marketplace (Case Study on Students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Bengkulu)

This research aims to determine "The Influence of Discounts, Free Shipping, Online Customer Reviews on Buying Decisions at the Shopee Marketplace (Case Study of Muhammadiyah University Bengkulu Students)". This type of research is quantitative research, research on measuring data and object statistics through calculations. The population in this study were students at Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu. The sampling technique was carried out using non-probability sampling, so the total sample in this study was 96 respondents, but for convenience in this study it was rounded up to 100 respondents. Based on the results of the t test, it can be seen that the calculated t for the Discount variable is 5,597 greater than the t table of 1,660 with the probability of t being sig 0.00, which is smaller than the significance limit of 0.05. Based on this value, the Discount variable has a positive effect on the Buying Decision variable. In the Free Shipping variable the calculated t test value is 2.861 which is greater than the t table of 1.660 with a t probability of sig 0.005 which is smaller than the significance limit of 0.05. In the Online Customer Review variable the calculated t value of 8.276 is greater than the t table of 1.660 with a probability t, namely sig 0.00, is smaller than the significance limit of 0.05. Based on the results of the F test, the calculated F value is 35,622 > 2.70 with sig 0.00 < 0.05, Ha is accepted, meaning that Discount, Free Shipping, Online Customer Review simultaneously have a positive and significant effect on the Buying Decision variable. The R Square value obtained was 0.527. To see the magnitude of the influence of the independent variable on the dependent variable by calculating the coefficient of determination (KD) = R2 x 100%, to obtain KD = 52.7%. This figure shows that 52.7% of Buying Decisions (dependent variable) can be explained by discounts, free shipping, and online customer reviews. The remaining 47.3% was influenced by other factors not explained in this study.

The Effect of Indirect Pulp Capping Treatment on Oral Health Quality of Life at The Dental Hospital Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta

Background: Dental and oral health-related quality of life is an individual's assessment of the impact of oral disorders that can affect the overall quality and well-being of their lives. One of the oral disorders that is frequently experienced by the community is pulpitis, which, if left behind, can cause pain and cause the tooth to become necrotic. Indirect pulp treatment can be done to deal with pulpitis and improve the patient quality of life. The study aims to determine the impact of indirect pulp capping treatment on quality of life based on gender, age, educational level, and number of teeth treated. Methods: The data collection technique in this study uses primary data in the form of a questionnaire and secondary data, which is data from the medical records of patients performing pulp capping treatment. The sample in this study is a patient who has completed indirect pulp capping treatment in the dental hospital UMY. The data analysis used in this study is descriptive analysis as well as chi square tests and controls to test the hypothesis. The results of this study are patient gender, the education level, and the number of teeth treated have no influence on quality of life related to oral health (p>0.05) otherwise the patient age has an influence on quality of life related to oral health (p<0.05). Conclusion: Gender, education level, and number of teeth treated have no influence, while age has an influence on quality of life

The Effect of First Aid Education on the Level of Knowledge Regarding Syncope Management in the KSR PMI Unit of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto

Background: Syncope is an emergency condition characterized by sudden loss of consciousness due to inadequate blood flow to the brain, lack of oxygen and symptoms of other chronic diseases. The global incidence of syncope is estimated at 12 million cases per year. Syncope incidents on campus require help quickly and appropriately. The KSR PMI Unit of Muhammadiyah University Purwokerto is a volunteer corps organization that provides first aid for syncope. Objective: To determine the effect of first aid education on syncope management on the level of knowledge of members of the PMI KSR Unit, Purwokerto Muhammadiyah University. Method: This research uses quantitative research methods with a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test-post-test approach. The sample consisted of 35 respondents selected through total sampling technique. Results: The research results obtained a P value of 0.01, with an average knowledge score before being given the intervention of 8.46, with a minimum score range of 6 to a maximum score of 11. After receiving the intervention the average knowledge score increased to 14.29, with a minimum score of 11 and a maximum score of 15. Conclusion: There is an influence of first aid education on syncope management on the level of knowledge of members of the PMI KSR Unit, Purwokerto Muhammadiyah University.

The Correlation between Lifestyle and Stress with Pre-menstruation Syndrome in Nursing Students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto

Background: Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is a collection of physical and psychological symtomps experienced by reproductive-aged women between 3-7 days before menstruation and disappear when menstruation begins. If not addressed, it can impact the productivity and health of women. Lifestyle and stress are believed to be the causes of PMS. Method: This quantitative study used a descriptive-analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used random sampling with a total of 39 respondents. Results: The results of the chi-square test showed that physical activity had a p-value of 0.000 (p<.05), sleep patterns had a p-value of 0.000 (p<0.05), diet had a p-value of 0.000 (p<0.05), and stress had a p-value of 0.000 (p<0.05). The research results indicate that there is a significant correlation between lifestyle and stress with the occurrence of premenstrual syndrome in nursing students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. Conclusion: There is a correlation between lifestyle and stress with the occurrence of premenstrual syndrome in female nursing students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto.

Developing Menstrual Pain Relief Underwear (CEDARRIS) for the Comfort of Menstruating Women

Background: Menstrual pain or dysmenorrhea often disrupts women's physical comfort. Interventions are needed to alleviate dysmenorrhea by designing special underwear for menstrual pain relief, aiming to reduce menstrual pain and enhance the comfort of menstruating women. Method: This research employed the Research and Development (RD) methodology, comprising ten stages: Stage I (problem potential), Stage II (data collection), Stage III (product design), Stage IV (design validation), Stage V (product revision), Stage VI (product trial), Stage VII (product revision), Stage VIII (wearability trial), Stage IX (product revision), and Stage X (mass production). Due to time constraints, the researcher has condensed the stages into 6 steps. Respective experts conducted product trials. Wearability trials involved sixth-semester nursing students at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. Results: : The clothing expert scored 47 and 46 in the expert development test, signifying "very feasible." The maternal health expert scored 43, indicating "very feasible," and the medical physicist expert scored 45, indicating "very feasible." Conclusion: CEDARRIS is suitable for the comfort of menstruating women.

The Factors Associated with Nomophobia Among Bachelor of Nursing Students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto

Background: Mobile phones have become essential tools for students due to their ability to meet various educational demands and provide access to a wealth of information. Excessive use and dependence on smartphones have also led to a new problem known as nomophobia. Nomophobia is a term derived from the phrase "no mobile phone phobia," which is related to the fear or distress experienced by individuals when they lose or cannot use their smartphones. Objective: This study aims to determine the factors associated with nomophobia among Bachelor of Nursing students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. Method: This quantitative research used a cross-sectional approach. The study sample comprised 92 Bachelor of Nursing students aged 18-24, selected using stratified random sampling. Data analysis included univariate and bivariate analyses using the Chi-Square test. Results: The analysis showed an association between nomophobia and the following factors: learning fatigue with a p-value of 0.029 (less than 0.05), self-esteem with a p-value of 0.012 (less than 0.05), loneliness with a p-value of 0.035 (less than 0.05), and smartphone usage intensity with a p-value of 0.001 (less than 0.05). Conclusion: A correlation exists between learning fatigue, self-esteem, loneliness, and smartphone usage intensity with nomophobia among Bachelor of Nursing students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto.

The Correlation between Self-efficacy and Motivation on Elderly's Daily Independence

Background: Changes in body composition during adolescence can affect the self-concept of teenagers, including self-esteem and body image. Physical changes often drive teenagers to strive for an ideal appearance through various means, including make-up. Adolescents preoccupied with physical appearance tend to develop opinions and feelings about their bodies' size, shape, appearance, and abilities. This study aimed to determine the correlations between make-up dependency to self-esteem and body image among female students in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. Method: This study utilized a quantitative descriptive approach involving 180 female students aged 18-22, selected through random sampling. Data was collected using DeFleur's makeup dependency questionnaire, the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), and the Multidimensional Body-Self Relations Questionnaire-Appearance Scale (MBSRQ-AS). Statistical data analysis was performed using the Chi-square test (X2). Results: The results revealed that the majority of the female students; obtained a moderate level of makeup dependency, had high self-esteem, showed a positive body image, there was no significant correlation between makeup dependency and self-esteem, with a p-value of 0.764 > 0.05, and there was no significant correlation between makeup dependency and body image, with a p-value of 0.063 > 0.05. Conclusion: Both self-esteem and body image are high and positive among female students.

PHBS Tk Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal 2 Grogol Jakarta Barat

Many diseases that occur are caused by poor living behavior of the community itself. This includes illnesses experienced by kindergarten students. At Asisyiyah Kindergarten Bustanul Athfal 2 Grogol Jakarta Barat, on average every week there are students who do not go to school because they are sick, Among others: diarrhea, cold cough, typhoid, etc. Observation results show that: students cannot wash yet hands properly, students are not used to washing their hands, there are no washing facilities in the classroom hands, students are accustomed to snacking carelessly in front of school, students do not throw rubbish in the trash, Many students have difficulty eating and more often snack on instant food at food stalls. Implementation method:promotive by providing education on clean and healthy living behavior to kindergarten students involving students and their parents, facilitate clean hand washing stations in each class, forming an alert group cleanliness in schools consisting of teachers, students and food sellers. Results of implementing activities among others students' knowledge and awareness about clean and healthy living behavior has increased, students have practicing clean hand washing before and after eating, the school's hygiene monitoring group is in place formed and functioning. Kindergarten students' clean and healthy living behavior includes: washing hands, throwing away rubbish in place, brushing your teeth, avoiding cigarette smoke, eating nutritious food, defecating and in the bathroom, cutting nails, brushing shoes, cleaning clothes. Conclusion: with implementation of community service by Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta lecturers at ABA 2 Grogol Jakarta Barat Kindergarten, then there is a change in the healthy clean behavior of ABA 2 Kindergarten students who were previously unhealthy to become healthy behavior

THE UTILIZATION OF TIKTOK VIDEOS AS LEARNING MEDIA TO ENHANCE STUDENTS’ SPEAKING PROFICIENCY

The purpose of this study was to determine whether or not TikTok videos contributes on English pre-service teachers’ speaking proficiency. The population of the study was 54 of second-semester English students of Faculty of Education, Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta. There were 30 students participated as samples selected through random sampling technique. This study employed quantitative method with pre-experimental design and one group pre and post approach. The instruments used in data collection were oral pre- and post-tests. This study was conducted online both in synchronous and asynchronous ways. Synchronously, the researchers used Google Meet platform in doing the treatment, while asynchronously, WhatsApp group was used to discuss the materials and open question and answer session with the participants. The data were analyzed quantitatively and statistically through the formula of paired- sampled t-test. The quantitative calculation showed that in the average, the students gained higher achievement in the post-test (75.00) than in the pre-test (61.57). Besides, the statistical computation found out that level of significance was higher than 0.000 < 0.005. This also indicated that H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. Thus, this research work concluded that TikTok videos used as media in learning was effective to impove students’ speaking proficiency.

Students' Perception of Learning Vashmid Model of Japanese Pronunciation Through Online Mode

Language acquisition is intricately connected to mastering pronunciation. Japanese pronunciation acquisition is mostly implemented through drill techniques and repetition activities. Drill approach is seen suitable for enhancing pronunciation skills due to its emphasis on language skills. Learning using drill techniques has traditionally been conducted in face-to-face or offline settings. Technological progress and the pandemic have led to an increase in online learning. Researchers aim to study Japanese pronunciation acquisition through online methods that had previously been conducted in person. This study aims to identify the students' perceptions and challenges encountered when learning pronunciation using online methods. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method by administering questionnaires to 15 students from the Japanese Language Education Study Program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. These students had undergone pronunciation instruction utilizing the VASHMID paradigm in an online setting. Most students in the study believe that learning pronunciation effectively is achievable through online methods. The pupils have successfully predicted and prepared for any challenges that may arise during online learning.

English Department Students’ Metacognition Awareness in Completing Mini-thesis

This paper investigated the metacognition of final semester students in completing their mini-thesis. The obstacles faced by English study program students in writing mini-thesis were assumed resulted from their lack of metacognition implementation. Metacognition is often described as knowledge and control over one’s cognitive processes. This research used mixed-method design. The instruments used were observation, interviews, and questionnaire. The subjects of this research consisted of 18 students of 8th, 9th as well as graduated students and 10 lecturers of English Study program of Universitas Muhammadiyah Tangerang. This study showed: firstly, students are quite hard to complete mini-thesis due to their strategy following the schedule is need to be pushed by their advisors. Secondly, most respondents have good metacognitive awareness, while few of eighth and ninth semester students need to improve planning, information management strategy and monitoring. Thirdly, metacognition can be the effective solution to encourage students in achieving their target.

This edition includes writings from four countries: India, Indonesia, South Africa, and Thailand.
