Mitigating Lecturers’ Communication Uncertainty in Using SWVC During Online Lectures

This study investigates at the communication uncertainty undergraduate lecturers face when delivering lectures through synchronous web video conferencing (SWVC) during online lectures. Uncertainty Reduction Theory (URT) is employed to understand how lecturers use communication techniques to reduce uncertainty in online lecture. Undergraduate lecturers at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta who have ever conducted teaching online were interviewed in semi-structured interviews. Thematic analysis is performed, with a particular focus on the methods that lecturers use to communicate with their students in order to build relationships and reduce uncertainty. The study identifies a number of important areas of uncertainty, such as technical challenges, the development of useful learning materials, evaluation of comprehension, student involvement, and conduct during online sessions. This study shows how lecturers use active, passive, and interactive strategy to reduce uncertainty. These results underline how crucial it is to deal with technology challenges, advance interactive teaching strategies, raise student participation, and establish effective communication in order to guarantee successful online education in the face of uncertainty.

PROSPECTIVE ACCOUNTING TEACHERS' VIEWS ON THE POST-COVID-19 LEARNING PROCESS AT SURAKARTA MUHAMMADIYAH UNIVERSITY

This research was conducted to examine how prospective teachers view the post-Covid-19 learning process and how various variables (Optimization of Learning, Optimization of Student Participation) affect post-Covid-19 pandemic learning conducted with IT-based Teaching and Learning Activities. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) is the method used for data analysis in this study to analyze the data obtained after withdrawing data. This study involved Accounting Education students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta, vulnerable class of 2018-2022 where these students experienced the learning process during the pandemic and post-pandemic. Data were collected using a questionnaire distributed to students online. The results showed that based on the views of prospective teacher students that learning optimization factors, optimizing student participation can positively and significantly influence IT-based Teaching and Learning Activities at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta after the Covid-19 pandemic.

Preface

The 5th International Conference of Geography and Disaster Management 2023 (ICGDM 2023) was successfully held by the Faculty of Geography, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. The conference was held via online Zoom meeting on 5-6th December 2023. ICGDM 2023 had a relevant theme for the tropical regions which is “Exploring Sustainable Solutions for Regional Development in Tropical Geographies: Unveiling the Potential, Embracing the Challenges”. It aimed to be a scientific platform for research dissemination, ideas sharing, and collaboration related to topics of environmental studies, socio-economic, regional development, disaster management, remote sensing, and GIS applications. ICGDM 2023 invited speakers from different backgrounds who are experts in the field of either physical or socio-economic geography. The keynote speakers were Dr. Nawaz M Mian (National University of Singapore, Singapore), Prof. Christopher Gomez (Kobe University, Japan), Muhammad Aufaristama, Ph.D. (University of Twente, Netherlands), Asaba Joyfred, M.A. (Kyambogo University, Uganda), Dr. Mukhamad Ngainul Malawani, M.Sc. (Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia), Dr. Edy Trihatmoko (Impact Team 2050 Member, State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom (ROSATOM), Russia). This ICGDM 2023 was attended by 123 participants and presenters. The committee has received 123 paper submissions, and after the review process, 60 papers were selected for publication in the IOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science. The Effect of Understanding Taxation, Justice, Discrimination, Tax Rates, Taxation Systems, Tax Sanctions on Student Perceptions of Tax Evasion

This study aims to analyze the effect of understanding taxation, justice, discrimination, tax rates, taxation systems, tax sanctions on student perceptions of tax evasion. This research method is quantitative. The data collection technique used by researchers in this study was a questionnaire method. The population in this study were students majoring in Accounting at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. The sampling technique in this study was to use purposive sampling method. The data source used by this researcher is primary data. Data analysis techniques through statistical analysis. SPSS. The results of this study are that tax understanding has no effect on student perceptions of tax evasion, high or low understanding of taxation will not affect tax evasion. Justice has no effect on student perceptions of tax evasion, high or low justice will not affect tax evasion. Discrimination affects students' perceptions of tax evasion, the higher the discrimination by the government, the more ethical tax evasion is considered. Conversely, the lower the discrimination, the tax evasion is considered an unethical thing to do. Tax rates have no effect on student perceptions of tax evasion, high or low tax rates will not affect tax evasion. The tax system affects students' perceptions of tax evasion, the better the tax system, the tax evasion is considered an unethical act. Conversely, the lower the tax system, the more ethical tax evasion is considered. Tax sanctions have no effect on student perceptions of tax evasion, high or low tax sanctions will not affect tax evasion.

Effectiveness of Reducing Turbidity Levels of Tofu Industry Wastewater with Alum Coagulant

Tofu industry liquid waste is one of the pollutants that can pollute the environment, especially can cause turbidity in rivers, lakes, and other waters. One of the countermeasures is to treat the liquid waste by giving alum coagulant. The purpose of this study was to measure the turbidity level of tofu industry wastewater before and after the application of alum coagulant and calculate the effectiveness or optimal dose/concentration of alum coagulant. This research is a type of quantitative research with a quasi-experimental research design. The research was conducted at the Public Health Laboratory of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta in January 2024. The data analysis technique used was quantitative to determine the effectiveness of alum coagulant, the test used was anova test. The results of this study indicate that the level of turbidity in the liquid waste of the tofu industry after the coagulation process using alum is at a concentration of 2 ml which produces a decrease in turbidity levels of 22.93%, a concentration of 4 ml produces a decrease in turbidity levels of 26.24%, a concentration of 6 ml produces a decrease in turbidity levels of 29.08%, and a concentration of 8 ml produces a decrease in turbidity levels of 36.41%, so that the optimum dose / concentration of alum coagulant is 8 ml because it has the best effectiveness value in reducing turbidity levels in the liquid waste of the tofu industry.

The Relationship Between Social Support, Self-Efficacy and Procrastination and Student Academic Stress in Distance Learning During the Covid-19 Pandemic

In the midst of the pandemic, changes in the education system at all levels have become a necessity. Face-to-face classroom learning has shifted to distance learning, utilizing various media tools such as Schoology, Zoom, and others. This change has brought significant impacts on students, one of which is the increased level of academic stress. Academic stress can be influenced by various factors, including self-efficacy and the tendency to procrastinate, as well as social support from the surrounding environment. The aim of this research is to examine the relationship between social support, self-efficacy, academic procrastination, and academic stress experienced by students during distance learning. This study employs a quantitative correlational method, involving 408 undergraduate students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. Respondents were randomly selected using criteria that they had participated in distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. The collected data were then analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. The results of the study indicate that social support, self-efficacy, and academic procrastination are correlated with academic stress, with a correlation coefficient (R) of 0.442 and an effective contribution of 19.6%.

This edition includes writings from four countries: India, Indonesia, South Africa, and Thailand. Urban Heat Island Literacy Among Geography Education Students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta

Geography Education students are expected to have literacy about the phenomena around them, one of which is Urban Heat Island (UHI) literacy. It is appropriate by the mission of Geography Education at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (UMS) is to produce geography educators with a view on disaster mitigation. This study aims to determine the UHI literacy of students in 7th semester, Deparment Geography Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. This research is a quantitative descriptive study with survey methods. The study using purposive random sampling of 80 respondents and as many as 54 collage students were selected as samples. The UHI literacy research instrument was developed based on the OECD's International Program for Student Assessment (PISA) in 1999. Based on the indicators in scientific literacy which are divided into three categories, the results are obtained: 1) Indicators of UHI's concepts show that high categories are middle class 20.4 % and the majority of students at a high level with 79.6%; 2) Indicators of UHI's processes obtained results with 1.8 % of students at a low level, 20.4 % of students at a medium level, and 78.8 % at a high level; 3) UHI's situation indicators showed that the high category was 93% and moderate was 7%. The conclusion shows that the UHI literacy of students is relatively high, indicating that curriculum based on disaster insight has been doing well, but further research is needed on other disaster insights and analysis of factors which affect the results above.Keywords: Urban Heat Island, Urban Heat Island Literacy, Curriculum

The Relationship between Folic Acid Intake and Depression among College Students

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between folic acid intake and the incidence of depression among students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta, department of Nutrition. This cross-sectional study recruited 40 participants following the inclusion criteria. Sample collection was done by random sampling. Data collection on the adequacy of folic acid intake was carried out using the non-consecutive three days 24 four Food recall. The prevalence of depression was obtained by measuring the level of depression in the last two weeks using the Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) questionnaire. The results showed that 2.5% of the subjects had sufficient folic acid intake and 97.5% had insufficient folic acid intake with mean 78,5 mcg. About 47.5% of subjects experienced minimal depression, 20% experienced mild depression, 25% experienced moderate depression, and 7.5% experienced major depression with mean score 13.4. Futher analysis, the p-value (p=0.145) indicated that there was no significant relationship between folic acid and depression status. Recommended for using the Semi-Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ) to see acid intake folate and pay attention to other factors that cause depression.

TRUST SEBAGAI VARIABEL MEDIASI DARI E-WOM DAN PERCEIVED VALUE TERHADAP PURCHASE INTENTION HANDPHONE DI SHOPEE

This study aims to analyse E-Wom and Perceived Value on Purchase Intention Handphone at Shopee and Trust as a mediating variable. The method used in this research is quantitative. The population in this study were active students in the Class of 2022, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) with the following data. The research sample consisted of 310 respondents, namely active students in the Class of 2022 from the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) who used the Shopee application. The purposive sampling method was used in sampling. The type of data analysed is primary data, collected through the use of questionnaires. Data analysis was carried out using the SEM-PLS method through SmartPLS software. The results in this study are E-WOM has a positive and significant impact on Purchase Intention. E-WOM has a positive and significant impact on Trust. Hedonic Value has a positive and significant impact on Purchase Intention. Hedonic Value has a positive and significant impact on Trust. Monetary Value has a positive and significant impact on Purchase Intention. Monetary Value has a positive and significant impact on Trust. Trust has a positive and significant impact on Purchase Intention. Utilitarian Value has a positive and significant impact on Purchase Intention. Utilitarian Value has a positive and significant impact on Trust.

PENGARUH CITRA MEREK DAN KEPERCAYAAN MEREK TERHADAP LOYALITAS KONSUMEN DENGAN KEPUASAN KONSUMEN SEBAGAI VARIABEL MEDIASI

This study aims to analyze Brand Image and Brand Trust on Consumer Loyalty and Consumer Satisfaction as Mediating Variables. The population of this study were students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta who used Asus laptops. The sample size of this study was 75 respondents. Data collection using a questionnaire. The analysis method used is path regression analysis and Smart PLs analysis tools with Outer model stages (validity and reliability), and Inner Model (Goodness of Fit, Path Coefficient, Indirect Effect). The results of this study are Brand Image and Trust have a significant positive effect on customer satisfaction. Brand Image and Trust have a significant positive effect on consumer loyalty Consumer Satisfaction has a significant positive effect on consumer loyalty. Customer satisfaction mediates significantly positively between brand image and customer loyalty. Satisfaction mediates significantly positively between brand trust and consumer loyalty.

PENGARUH MOTIVASI KERJA, SOFT SKILL, EFIKASI DIRI DAN LITERASI DIGITAL TERHADAP KESIAPAN KERJA

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of work motivation, soft skills, self-efficacy and digital literacy on student work readiness (case study of UMS management students class of 2020). The method used in this research is a quantitative method with 234 respondents. The population in this study were students of the management study program at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta class of 2020. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling, the data used is promer data obtained through respondents' answers using a closed type of interview or questionnaire, the sampling technique in this study uses the Slovin formula. The data analysis technique in this study uses Partial Least Square (PLS) using the help of SMARTPLS Software. PLS-SEM analysis consists of two Outer model and Inner model. The results of this study indicate that work motivation has no effect on the work readiness of management students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta Class of 2020. soft skills, self-efficacy, and digital literacy have a positive and significant effect on the work readiness of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta Class of 2020 management students.

Effect of Closed Kinetic Chain Exercise to Reduce Pain and Increase Functional Ability in Patient with Osteoarthritis Genu

Background: Osteoarthritis genu is a degenerative disease with symptoms of chronic inflammation of the joint cartilage which causes pain, limited movement and function. Closed kinetic chain exercise is an active movement that involves many joints and muscle groups simultaneously. This study aims to analyze the effect of closed kinetic chain exercise on reducing pain and increasing functional ability in osteoarthritis genu.
 Subjects and Method: Quasi experimental research with a research approach in the form of pretest and posttest with control group design. This study was conducted at RST dr. Soedjono Magelang in May-June 2023. A total of 20 osteoarthritis genu patients were divided into two groups: (1) The intervention group was given closed kinetic chain exercise and (2) The control group was given conventional physiotherapy. Pain level was measured using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Functional ability was measured by the Western Ontario and McMaster Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC). Mean differences between the closed kinetic chain exercise group and the conventional physiotherapy group were analyzed using the independent t-test.
 Results: Providing closed kinetic chain exercise is effective in reducing the level of silent pain (Effect Size = 1.20; p= 0.014), movement pain (Effect Size= 0.99; p= 0.004), movement pain (Effect Size= 1.37; p= 0.023), and increasing functional ability in osteoarthritis genu patients (Effect Size = 0.10; p= 0.023).
 Conclusion: Providing closed kinetic chain exercise can reduce pain and increase functional ability in osteoarthritis genu.

The Influence of Halal Awareness and Halal Certificate on Purchasing Decisions for Mixue Products

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of halal awareness and halal certificate on purchasing decisions for Mixue products. This type of research is quantitative. The population of this study were students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. The sample calculation technique using the malhorta formula, obtained a sample size of 100 respondents. Non-probability sampling design with purpose sampling technique is used to take samples carried out in research. The data source of this research is primary data. The method of data analysis in this study with the help of the SPSS application. The result of this study is that there is an effect of Halal Awareness on purchasing decisions. Halal Certificate has a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions. This shows that students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta really consider Halal Awareness and Halal Certificate in consuming a product. A consumer's awareness of halal products is one of them by knowing the food packaging process used, the cleanliness of the food they consume. This is important to ensure that the products they consume are truly halal products.

Analysis of factors influencing intention to purchase halal Japanese food: The moderating role of religiosity

The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors affecting the desire to purchase halal Japanese cuisine using the theory of planned behavior and religiosity as a moderator. The study employs the structural equation modeling partial least square (SEM PLS) method to analyze data obtained from questionnaires administered to 202 Muslim consumers at halal Japanese restaurants (Ramen Ya, Marugame Udon, and Sushi Tei). The findings demonstrate that attitudes (β = 0.228, p = 0.074), subjective norms (β = 0.198, p = 0.076), perceived behavioral control (β = 0.133, p = 0.035), and religiosity (β = 0.459, p = 0.000) significantly affect the intention to buy Japanese food labeled halal. In addition, halal awareness (β = 0.593, p = 0.000) and religiosity (β = 0.227, p = 0.039) also have a significant positive effect on attitude. However, the presence of religiosity does not significantly moderate the relationship between attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control towards purchase intention. Although religiosity does not act as a moderator, the outcomes of this analysis are expected to be useful for the Japanese halal cuisine sector, notably in countries with a majority Muslim population, to consider religiosity as an essential factor in increasing purchase intention. Meningkatkan Kompetensi Wirausaha Siswa SMK melalui Pelatihan BMC

students for the dynamic global world. Research shows a positive relationship between entrepreneurship education, entrepreneurial activities, and entrepreneurial intentions of vocational students. The integration of entrepreneurship education in the vocational education system supports the national agenda to encourage innovative and entrepreneurial practices among youth. In this context, the development of entrepreneurial skills among SMK students is essential, including communication, collaboration, and digital skills. The 2019 National Standard for Vocational Education emphasizes the importance of entrepreneurship, character, and literacy competencies. Business Model Canvas (BMC) training is a solution to help SMK students understand and plan their business comprehensively, improve their readiness to create jobs and overcome obstacles in starting a business. The study involved 30 students of SMKN 1 Gantiwarno, Klaten, and was organized at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta using lecture, demonstration, and discussion methods. The result was an increase in students' knowledge, skills, and abilities in planning a business with BMC. This activity successfully benefited the Perempuan Indonesia Maju community and the vocational school students. It is desired that students can apply the knowledge gained and it is recommended to organize follow-up training to deepen the material and understanding. Continuous evaluation will ensure the long-term impact of this community service.

Pengaruh Harga, Citra Merek, Dan Kualitas Produk Terhadap Keputusan Pembelian Pada Pengguna Produk Rabbani

The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of price, brand image, and product quality on purchasing decisions among users of Rabbani products. This research falls into the category of descriptive research with a research method that uses a quantitative approach. The population of this study includes all students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta who have purchased Rabbani products. To determine the sample size, this study refers to Malhorta's theory, which says that the sample size can be calculated by multiplying the number of question items by at least four or five. Therefore, the number of samples in this study was 100 respondents. The sampling technique used in this study was non-probability sampling with purposive sampling method. This research was conducted using Partial Least Square (PLS) with the help of Smart PLS software version 3. The results of the analysis in this study indicate that price has a positive but insignificant impact on purchasing decisions, brand image has a negative and insignificant impact on purchasing decisions, while product quality has a positive and significant impact on purchasing decisions.

Performance measurement of Islamic philanthropic institution during pandemic in Indonesia: A balanced scorecard approach

This study aims to analyze the performance of Islamic philanthropic institution during the COVID-19 pandemic (2020–2021) by using a balanced scorecard approach. The balanced scorecard assesses a company or institution based on four perspectives: finance, customer, internal business, and growth and learning. For internal business and growth and learning performance perspectives, data were taken from interviews, and the annual report of the institution was taken for a finance perspective. For customer perspectives, the study used a questionnaire distributed to 100 respondents who are regular donors to philanthropic institution. They play an essential role because regardless of the economic conditions that occur, they are still obliged to donate as a form of the obligation of a rich Muslim to pay zakat. The results showed that the customer perspective had the highest value in its performance results compared to the other three perspectives. Islamic philanthropic institution has a high orientation to customers where customer satisfaction is prioritized in improving the performance of zakat institutions, especially during the pandemic. This is in line with the performance of Islamic philanthropic institution, which continues to increase performance during the pandemic. Despite experiencing a decline in zakat funds in the second wave of COVID-19, Islamic philanthropic institution increased infaq and sadaqah funds during the same period. Basic Volleyball Technical Skills for Students: Validity and Reliability

Study purpose. The goal of this project is to provide a basic volleyball skill exam for Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta students enrolled in the Sports Education study program. Materials and methods. This work employed experimental techniques. They are testing the reliability and validity of fundamental volleyball skills for students between 18 and 24. For objectivity and validity, personal correlations are employed in data analysis, while reliability coefficients between classes are used in data analysis for reliability. The population and sample consisted of 114 students studying sports education in the first and third semesters, including 64 males and 50 females. Results. The validity value, r = 0.653, was highly significant. Additionally, the researcher’s score with tester 1’s assistance is r = 0.759, with tester 2’s assistance is r = 0.651, and the correlation coefficient between the results of assistant testers one and two is a high r = 0.686. The objectivity value of the result score for the volleyball skill instrument was r = 0.787 for the researcher and examiner one and r = 0.705 for examiner two. The correlation coefficient between assistant examiners one and two was high at r = 0.706. The motion reliability score for volleyball skills was high (r = 0.652). The volleyball skill reliability score had a very high result score of r = 0.872. Conclusions. Based on the study findings, it is clear that the accuracy test of fundamental skills is highly effective and efficient and merits being used as a benchmark instrument to assess the skills of volleyball. To improve volleyball playing abilities, further research involving various factors, including social environment, psychosocial factors, and physical condition factors by student characteristics, is necessary. However, caution is required due to the small sample sizes used in this study and the need to consider other variables.
