The Effect of Using Authentic Materials on Students' Procedural Text Writing Skill At Smas Isen Mulang Palangka Raya

Writing is a skill that requires not only linguistic abilities such as vocabulary and grammar, but also practical knowledge of how to express ideas in written form. Writing also helps us to gain a deeper understanding of something. In the context of teaching procedural text writing, finding appropriate materials for the classroom can be a challenge. This study aims to determine the effect of the use of authentic teaching materials on students' procedural text writing skills at SMAS Isen Mulang Palangka Raya. The method in this research is Pre-Experimental research method, with One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The findings of the study show that the use of authentic materials has a positive impact on improving students' writing scores, especially in organization.

The Dispute Between Thinking Styles and Thinking Skills Among Technical Students

Thinking style is one thing that can help students in solving problems by knowing the students' own style. The style of thinking is not an ability but more towards how to use the existing abilities of each individual. Similarly, thinking skills can help students to solve problems and can make students smart in thinking about things. Thinking skills can be formulated as the process of using the mind to find a solution or understanding of something. Thinking skills also allow students to integrate each newly experienced experience into each individual’s mind box. The aim of this study was to identify the thinking style patterns and the level of thinking skills between the demographic factors among technical students. The design of this study was descriptive and inferential with a quantitative approach. A total of 273 technical students from the Faculty of Technical and Vocational Education (FPTV) at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) were randomly selected as a sample covering the fields of Building Construction (BBB), Catering (BBC), Welding and Metal Fabrication (BBD), Electrical and Electronics (BBE), Creative Multimedia (BBF) and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (BBG). A set of modified questionnaires from past studies were used as research instruments. Majority of technical students have a balanced thinking style and follow a critical and creative thinking style. The majority of all technical students at FPTV has a level of mastery of all three thinking skills analytical, practical and creative. Among the three types of skills, the majority of technical students have a level of mastery of high practical thinking skills, followed by creative thinking skills and analytical thinking skills. It is hoped that this study can provide guidance to students, lecturers and institutions to improve the Way of teaching and learning in accordance with the thinking style and thinking skills of students.

Islamic Views on the Objectives of Social Media Usage: A systematic literature review

Nowadays, the usage of social media is inevitable. While its expansion is welcomed, its adverse effects are also threatening. One of the areas that needs to be researched to combat those adverse effects is to see the role of objective-driven usage of social media, as many Islamic scholars believe that objective-driven action can lead to a better understanding of something and promote its proper conduct. This study aims to seek hikmah in using social media from an Islamic perspective, as has been studied by other researchers. Hikmah meant here is a deep understanding of the objectives to be achieved in conducting an action according to Islamic teachings. 22 research papers were reviewed from Web of Science, Scopus, ERIC, and Google Scholar from 2012 to 2022. The study found six main objectives of using social media from an Islamic perspective, namely to propagate Islamic teachings (da’wah), to build and sustain relationships (ukhuwwah), to educate to establish one’s character; to entertain well as to enjoin good and forbid harm.

METHODOLOGY OF TEACHING EMOTIONALLY COLORED METAPHORS IN SONG DISCOURSE

In cultural and linguistic analysis, a modern song text is considered as an integral verbal and musical set, which is an element of modern (verbal and musical) culture and includes a verbal (linguistic) component. As linguoculturologists note, “culture generally exists in the form of texts - iconic works of human spiritual activity.”A person joins a culture in the process of appropriating “foreign” texts that make up this culture. However, it is necessary to note the fact that a text is a cultural object only to the extent that “our relationship with it reproduces or for the first time gives rise to human possibilities in us ... seeing and understanding something in the world and in ourselves. “It is culture that is the “second nature” of a person and therefore acts as a kind of global socio-regulatory mechanism for adapting a person and society to the conditions of the natural and social environment.A person thinks and is aware of the society at the moment when he thinks and realizes the world around him with cultural texts (in particular, modern song lyrics), thereby turning to other representatives of culture, satisfying the requirements of cultural communication. According to culturologists, there are two social forms of culture: mass culture and elite. The song text is a cultural product and is part of mass culture.It is assumed that mass culture is consumed by all people, regardless of place and country of residence. It is the culture of everyday life, presented to the widest audience through various channels, including the media and communications.The song text is a complex cultural text, embodied at the verbal-melodic, behavioral and mental level. These levels are interconnected, they are mutually determined and complement each other, which is very important for linguoecology. In the study of the linguistic component of the song text, we turn to the environment that forms, explains and complements the content of the verbal component (musical component, extralinguistic factors of mass culture).

The Effect of STEAM Learning and Scientific Attitude on Students' Creative Thinking Skills

Facing the development of 21st -century technology, students must be equipped with skills that help them become superior human resources, one of which is creative thinking skills. Creative thinking skills are the ability to analyze something based on data or information to generate new ideas in understanding something. One way to improve creative thinking skills is to train students to explore scientific attitudes and carry out learning that applies scientific activities such as STEAM learning (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics). This study uses a quantitative research method Pre-Experimental Design. The design used is the One Group Pretest-Postest Design. The instruments used were twin observations during STEAM learning to assess creative thinking skills and questionnaires to assess scientific attitudes. The test used is a simple regression test that produces the equation Y=3.51+1.21X. Test the hypothesis using the t-test which concludes that there is a significant influence of scientific attitude on the creative thinking skills of students who apply STEAM learning.

WebQuest as a Media in Teaching Vocabulary for Young Learners

One example of a web-based learning media format that enables teachers to assign a task to students so that they can explore and analyze information is WebQuest. By gathering and analyzing data from the internet, WebQuest can assist students in providing fresh perspectives on issues. Higher-order thinking abilities like problem-solving and critical analysis might result from a new understanding of something. Additionally, young learners can learn vocabulary with WebQuest. Moreover, WebQuest is also a means to teach vocabulary material to young learners. The researcher tries to find out effective media to teach English to young learners.
 After conducting research on the WebQuest media for young learners using qualitative research design, the research appears with significant results. The data was collected in SDN 1 Gedongan Mojokerto by involving the English teachers as subjects of this research. The English teacher comes from the Lecturer of Islamic State University of Sunan Ampel Surabaya and the elementary school teacher to find out whether this media is effective or conversely ineffective. As the researchers have established the research that used the R&D method or which is well known as Research and Development method, the result is beyond the expectation of using WebQuest for English teaching media. For instance, the teacher confirms that this kind of digital media is eligible in becoming a medium for young learners. This statement is based on what WebQuest media is for. In the material design, this WebQuest is very flexible in maintaining the contents shown, like it will be able to be embedded in the other kinds of online platforms of media to fulfill the content materials needed. The teacher has also given the statement of admiration whereas the media of WebQuest is presumed as a creative breakthrough in this digital era principally for young learners.
 WebQuest is one of the web-based electronic media that can be implemented in teaching vocabulary to young learners. By researching and analyzing the information, WebQuest aims to assist students in developing their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. All in all, the implementation of WebQuest can be said to be effective to be used for teaching and learning processes for 3rd-grade elementary school.

With respect to these concepts, the study of poetic socialities enacts a critique of imperial neoliberal tendency of socialization; whereby the only tenable norm of general subjectivity is a function of speculative market value as the absolute measure not just of human progress but existence as well. Along these lines, poetic socialities is an attempt at understanding something of what is at play in te current era of popular unrest.

Learning evaluation is carried out to obtain information about students' abilities, as well as to measure whether the learning objectives are achieved or not. Learning evaluation covers 3 domains, namely: cognitive (knowledge), affective (values or attitudes), and psychomotor (skills). This research uses qualitative research methods. In this discussion, researchers will discuss the evaluation carried out by PAI teachers at SDN Rangperang Daya III in the psychomotor realm, where teachers not only measure students' knowledge in understanding something but also measure students' abilities in their skills to carry out worship. Psychomotor assessment is characterized by the presence of physical activity and performance skills by students and does not require writing instruments.

An Analysis of Students' Mathematical Problem-Solving Ability at Class VII Social Arithmetic Materials Based on Learning Styles

Learning style is an activity of thinking, processing, and understanding something that is preferred and has the characteristics of each person. Problem-solving ability is a skill that needs to be possessed in the process of solving mathematical problems. This study aims to describe students' problem-solving abilities on social arithmetic material in terms of learning styles. The research was conducted through a descriptive qualitative research design. The population is all seventh-grade students of MTs Al-Khairiyah, South Jakarta. Sampling using a total sampling technique. Then three students were selected, namely students who scored the highest visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning styles. The instrument uses a learning style questionnaire and a test of problem-solving skills and semi-structured interviews—data analysis techniques with data reduction, exposure, and concluding to explain mathematical problem-solving abilities. The findings of this study are students with the highest scores of visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles can solve social arithmetic problems based on Polya's steps without any significant differences, only from different styles when solving problems

When Abstract and Real Learning Materials Meet in the Same Reality : Interpreting Hybrid Learning as a Solution in Christian Education

Children aged 7-11 years who are in elementary school have realistic characteristics, high levels of curiosity about various things that happen around them, the spirit of learning something that will increase day by day, and difficulty understanding something that is conveyed abstractly. The learning method used by educators in elementary schools is generally face-to-face. Problems arise when required to collaborate face-to-face and online methods, both because of student boredom and because of compelling circumstances. This study aims to prove the effectiveness of hybrid learning in Christian education learning, how to maximize potential and minimize negative impacts. This research is a quantitative research, with a survey approach. Data was collected through a questionnaire, to analyze the level of student understanding after learning with hybrid learning. The population in this study was students who were in elementary school in Sipoholon North Tapanuli sub-district, with a total sample of 100 people. Sampling is done randomly in the population. Furthermore, data tabulation is carried out, and from there it is processed with the help of SPSS. Validity and reliability tests were carried out for questionnaires, and the results were analyzed for simple linear regressionThe influence of the implementation of the hybrid learning method on student understanding is 41%.

Malay language teaching quality and efficiency are very important in ensuring the control and use of the Malay language in the context of education. There are several factors affecting the mastery of Malay as a second language. This is because, in language learning, students often face problems in understanding something that is explained by the teacher in the language being learned as a second language. Recognizing this, a study was done on the understanding mastery of Malay as a second language students. This study aims to identify the influence of interests, attitudes, motivation, and the environment on the understanding of the Malay language proficiency of students. This study uses quantitative and qualitative methods involving 6 Pakistani’s students in a secondary school in Bintulu, Sarawak. Among the methods used are using questionnaires, observations, and documentation review. The findings show effective factors such as interest, attitudes, motivation, and environmental factors are closely related in influencing the level of understanding of Malay students.

Tingkat Literasi Mahasiswa Politik Islam UIN Raden Fatah Palembang Terhadap Kebijakan Omnibus Law

Political Literacy Level is the level of a person's ability to process and understand information while doing the process of reading, writing, and understanding something. In the past, literacy was defined as the ability to read and write. Currently, the term Literacy has begun to be used in more meanings. This study aims to analyze how far the level of political literacy of Islamic politics study program students to the Omnibus Law policy. The sample used in this study were students of the 2017-2020 Islamic Politics study program who are still active at the Faculty of Adab and Humanities. The variable sought in this study is the level of student political literacy on the Omnibus Law policy.The sampling technique used is proportional sampling with predetermined criteria. A sample of 68 students was obtained from 4 batches of the Islamic Politics study program at the Faculty of Adab and Humanities. The data collection technique used is using questionnaires distributed in 4 different batches.The results showed that the level of political literacy of the students of the Islamic Politics Study Program towards the Omnibus Law policy was relatively high, this was evident from the results of the questionnaires that were randomly distributed in 4 different classes showing a high understanding.

Computer virtual technology is a new technology produced under the background of the all-round development of science and technology. This research is based on a philosophical approach as it is intended to explore the basic assumptions of the legal prophetic paradigm on the lack of the basic assumptions of the legal positivism paradigm.Findings: This paper will discuss the 'criticism of legal prophetic paradigm against legal positivism paradigm' using a philosophical approach as it is intended to explore the basic assumptions of the epistemology basis of the school of thought in legal science through comparison between the school of thoughts in legal science. The legal prophetic paradigm places moral as the main basis as its basic assumption. The verses of Allah and the Hadith of the Prophet regarding justice are the ontological basis of the Paradigm.Application of the Study: The object of legal science is human relations contained within (governed by) legal norms. Law science attempts to understand its object in a "legal" manner, which is from the legal perspective. Understanding something legally means understanding it as law, that is, as legal norms or as the content of legal norms or understanding something as determined by legal norms.Novelty/Originality: The prophetic paradigm can be approached through a Religion Science-based approach. The importance of this approach/religion science in understanding phenomenological law is none other but the occurrence of void or the broken links due to legal positivism thinking that is unable to play a functional role in presenting comprehensive legal justice.
