The raw pre-beamforming data are necessary for the study of ultrasound imaging beamforming algorithm. However, the raw data are not accessible for most of the commercial ultrasound scanner. Therefore, most researches have to depend on software simulation. The purpose of this paper was to develop an open platform for the research of ultrasound beamforming. This platform utilized the SonixRP system to obtain the raw pre-beamforming data with great flexibility. The essential imaging parameters and scan sequence can be defined through a user-friendly GUI. Furthermore, an adaptive beamforming algorithm was proposed and verified on the platform. The results showed that the algorithm can improve the image quality with better enhancement and lateral resolution while compared the conventional DAS algorithm.
