Truck Scale Remote Weighing System of the Enterprise With Technology

Truck scale is widely used in weighing cargo weight. To monitoring truck scale, truck scale remote weighing method based on the GPRS and CAN bus is brought out and the on-line weighing monitoring system is designed. The weighing monitoring system includes truck scale weighing system, the control center monitoring system and the remote weighing monitoring system. The cargo weight is collected by the weighing system and sent to the control center monitoring system through CAN. The remote weighing monitoring system receives the cargo weight through GPRS. The experiment system is built. The experiment result indicates that truck scale remote weighing system can monitoring the cargo weight and improves the system security and accuracy and the communication efficiency.

Truck Scale Remote Weighing Monitoring System Based on WEB

Truck scale can be on-line monitor cargo weight, so it is widely used in weighing. The requirements and the basic composition of the truck scale weighing monitoring system is introduced. The requirement analysis of the truck scale weighing monitoring system is carried through and the functions of the weighing monitoring system are detailed analyzed. The network monitoring system architecture and software architecture is designed. Truck scale weighing monitoring system is analyzed using UML and the Use Case diagram is given. The truck scale weighing monitoring system is designed. The experimental results show that truck scale weighing monitoring system has good openness and security and can improve the enterprise efficiency.

Truck Scale Remote Weighing Monitoring System Based on the CAN

With the virtue of accuracy, fast and convenience, truck scale is more and more applied to weighing transport cargo weight. The computer and communication system is developed rapidly. The truck scale of the enterprises is distributed widely and the truck scale on-line weighing data is difficult to monitoring. The truck scale remote weighing monitoring system based on the CAN bus is designed in the paper. The SCM of the on-time remote weighing system is designed. The MCU of SCM is 89C2051 and the A/D is ADC0809. The weighing measurement data is collected by the MCU and sent to the upper monitoring system through the CAN bus. The experiment result indicates that the truck scale remote weighing monitoring system can on-line measure the transport cargo weight and improves the communication efficiency and accuracy.

Study on the Truck Scale Cheating Automatic Monitoring System Based on the GPRS

The truck scale is more and more applied on the weighing system. To seek illegal profits, many kinds of truck scale cheating method is found in the weighing system. To monitoring the truck scale cheating method, the truck scale cheating automatic monitoring system based on the GPRS is brought out in this paper. The truck scale cheating automatic monitoring system is designed. The monitoring system includes three parts: the monitoring terminal, the GPRS transmission module and the upper monitoring system. The truck scale measurement data of the sensors are collected by the monitoring terminal and sent to the upper monitoring system through the GPRS module. The experimental system is established on the pneumatic conveying system and the experiment is carried out. The experimental results show that the automatic monitoring system can on-line monitor the truck scale cheating method and improves the security of the truck scale weighing system.

Composting provides a sustainable solution to the biosolids issues in Shenyang, China

Shenyang Biosolids Composting Plant is a one-of-a-kind facility that is designed to handle and treat up to 1,000 tonnes of 80% moisture content wet biosolids per day from four municipal wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) that have a combined capacity of 1,600 MLD in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, China. The composting plant covers an area of approximately 130,000 m2. The moisture content of biosolids will be reduced to 35% by biodrying. The main facilities in the plant include the materials handling and mixing system (for wet sludge, raw material and compost), the agitated composting bed system, the ventilation and odor control system, the truck scale unit, the storerooms (for raw material and product), and the other auxiliary facilities. The design has incorporated the necessary environmental considerations for the protection of workers’ health and safety as well as the potential impacts on the neighboring communities. The finished compost product will be sold as soil amendment and/or auxiliary fuel. In comparison with other technologies, this plant is favored for the low capital cost (0.279 million RMB per wet tonne of sludge), the low operating cost (173.13 RMB per wet tonne sludge) and the low energy consumption/carbon footprint. The plant is currently under construction. The installation works of No.3 composting train is scheduled to be carried out in June 2012. When the plant is commissioned in September 2012, it will become a sustainable solution to the sludge problem in Shenyang City.

Scale considerations for fire testing of pressure vessels used for dangerous goods transportation

Fire protection of pressure vessels for transport and storage of dangerous goods is an active topic of research around the world. In many cases, organizations are conducting theoretical analysis followed by fire testing of thermal protection systems to determine how long they delay thermally induced failure, or if they eliminate failure. In most recent cases the organizations chose to do small scale fire testing because of the obvious cost savings.The question then is – are small scale experiments representative of highway tank truck and rail tank car scales? This paper discusses the scale issues involved. It goes on to show how identical fire heating conditions can give dramatically different failure times and modes of failure for small and large scale tanks if the conditions are not truly similar.

Truck Parking Cheating Detection System of the Truck Scale Using the Voltage Waveform Analysis

Truck scale is an important weighing instrument. The truck parking cheating method is one of the truck scales cheating method and can lead to large economic losses to the enterprise. A new truck parking cheating detection method based on the voltage waveform analysis is brought out in this paper. According to the output voltage signal waveform of the weighing transducer, if the turning point number of the output voltage is different with the truck axles, the truck parking cheating method exists. Based on the principle, the truck parking cheating detection system is designed. The instrument is using 8031 as the MCU and can be transmitted the voltage signal to the control computer. Experimental data show that the detection system can on-time detects the truck parking cheating method.

Finite Element Analysis for Analog Modes of SCS Series Truck Scale with Different Loads

The weighing platform of the truck scale is a load-bearer, which is used for bearing a load. Its structure has many forms, in this paper, the finite element analysis of a structure with u-beam which is currently the most widely used for different loading modes, the traditional method of structural analysis of truck scale is to simplily the platform as a simply supported beam. As the model is too simplified, the result of this method will be unreliable and it cannot make part analysis about stress and strain . In this research, ANSYS was used to model, and loaded analysis. Through different loading, get the structure of weighing platform stress distribution and deformation. By analysing,we give reasonable proposals and provide valuable reference for the design and production of truck scale .

Transpiration efficiency over an annual cycle, leaf gas exchange and wood carbon isotope ratio of three tropical tree species

Variation in transpiration efficiency (TE) and its relationship with the stable carbon isotope ratio of wood was investigated in the saplings of three tropical tree species. Five individuals each of Platymiscium pinnatum (Jacq.) Dugand, Swietenia macrophylla King and Tectona grandis Linn. f. were grown individually in large (760 l) pots over 16 months in the Republic of Panama. Cumulative transpiration was determined by repeatedly weighing the pots with a pallet truck scale. Dry matter production was determined by destructive harvest. The TE, expressed as experiment-long dry matter production divided by cumulative water use, averaged 4.1, 4.3 and 2.9 g dry matter kg(-1) water for P. pinnatum, S. macrophylla and T. grandis, respectively. The TE of T. grandis was significantly lower than that of the other two species. Instantaneous measurements of the ratio of intercellular to ambient CO(2) partial pressures (c(i)/c(a)), taken near the end of the experiment, explained 66% of variation in TE. Stomatal conductance was lower in S. macrophylla than in T. grandis, whereas P. pinnatum had similar stomatal conductance to T. grandis, but with a higher photosynthetic rate. Thus, c(i)/c(a) and TE appeared to vary in response to both stomatal conductance and photosynthetic capacity. Stem-wood delta(13)C varied over a relatively narrow range of just 2.2 per thousand, but still explained 28% of variation in TE. The results suggest that leaf-level processes largely determined variation among the three tropical tree species in whole-plant water-use efficiency integrated over a full annual cycle.

Adaptive compensation for eccentric error in truck scale

The conventional compensation for eccentric error in truck scale is realized by repeatedly regulating the potentiometer in junction box to adjust gain of each channel with load cell, which is fussy and labor-intensive. In this paper, eccentric error sources are analyzed, and an error model is established. A method of adaptive compensation for eccentric error is proposed, and its model of compensation based on radial basis function neural network (RBFNN) is established, which considers the output signals of multiple load cells as its input variables. A learning algorithm of RBFNN is also presented. Experiments and verifications in field show that with adaptive compensation the eccentric error from some nonlinear factors of truck scale is greatly reduced, and it is less than the maximum permissible error of scales with medium accuracy defined by international standard OIML R76 “Nonautomatic Weighing Instruments”.

Outputs and cost of HIV prevention programmes for truck drivers in Andhra Pradesh, India

BackgroundHIV prevention programmes for truck drivers form part of the HIV control efforts, but systematic data on the outputs and cost of providing such services in India are not readily available for further planning and use of resources.MethodsDetailed cost and output data were collected from written records and interviews for 2005–2006 fiscal year using standardized methods at six sampled HIV prevention programmes for truck drivers in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The total economic cost for these programmes was computed and the relation of unit cost of services per truck driver with programme scale was assessed using regression analysis.ResultsA total of 120,436 truck drivers were provided services by the six programmes of which 55.9% were long distance truck drivers. The annual economic cost of providing services to a truck driver varied between programmes from US$ 1.52 to 4.56 (mean US$ 2.49). There was an inverse relation between unit economic cost of serving a truck driver and scale of the programme (R2 = 0.63; p = 0.061). The variation between programmes in the average number of contacts made by the programme staff with truck drivers was 1.3 times versus 5.8 times for contacts by peer educators. Only 1.7% of the truck drivers were referred by the programmes for counseling and HIV testing.ConclusionThese data provide information for further planning of HIV prevention programmes for truck drivers and estimating the resources needed for such programmes. The findings suggest the need to strengthen the role of peer educators and increase referral of truck drivers for HIV testing.

A Measurement Method of Carrying Load on a Truck

The carrying load on a truck is usually measured by a truck scale or a portable measuring device of carring load. These are the method of measuring the sum of the weight of the truck itself and the carrying load. On the other hand it is also thinkable that the value of the carrying load is given by using the elastic deformation that the carrying load produces on a truck body. The proposed method here is one using the strains of front and rear axle induced by the load. In this paper it is proved that this method properly gives the value of the carrying load. If the above method would be realized and the value of load is visually indicated, it is greatly expected that this method effectively prevents carring the over load.

An Ergonomic Analysis of Scale-Pits

Much of the scale industry involves weighing large amounts of a product. The main method is the truck or railroad scale. These require pits to hold the lever systems necessary to weigh the truck or railroad car. However, these pits are designed with no thought for the safety of the technicians who maintain the scales. in this paper, four problems with current pit design were examined using data on the physical dimensions and the types of injuries possible. Three experiments were conducted to examine the risks of falling due to loss of balance, problems caused by moving around in the pit, and the effect of poor lighting. Using this data, suggestions are made to improve the safety of the scale pits for the technicians who work in them.

MASS FLOW MEASUREMENT OF SEED COTTON

Systems obtaining real-time mass flow data were developed to support cotton gin automation. Theexperimental systems used the attenuation of optical and ultrasonic signals, inertia, and air pressure differences causedby changes in potential energy. A conveyor belt standard indicated real-time accuracy while a truck scale standardverified accuracy integrated over time. Conveying air velocity pressure and vertical pipe air pressure differential mostaccurately reflected mass flow. Their estimate of mass flow rate in real time was within 10% of the belt scale. Bothsystems are inexpensive to make and easy to add to an existing cotton gin.

EVALUATION OF WEIGHING SYSTEMS FOR CITRUS YIELD MONITORING

Three electronic sensor systems were installed and evaluated to measure citrus yield at the grove level. Allsystems were integrated as a part of a specialized vehicle, known as a goat, which is used for Florida citrus to transferfruit from grove to road side. The first system consisted of four load cells which measured the bed weight of the harvestingvehicle as each bin or tub of fruit was placed on it. The second system consisted of a load cell attached to the hydraulicarm of the vehicle which recorded pallet bin or tub weight. The third system measured the hydraulic pressure in thevehicles bed lift. These sensor systems were interfaced to a field GPS and A/D data acquisition unit. Comparative dataare presented for the performance of each unit and resultant overall system accuracy. Second Generation European Corn Borer Control with Aerial Application of Insecticides, 1992

Abstract Insecticides were aerially applied to natural ECB populations in 2 fields near Indianola, IA, using an Ag-Cat airplane. Treatments were replicated 3 times in each field in a RCBD. All liquid formulations were applied in 1.0 gal of water per acre. Pretreatment counts of egg masses on 10 Aug indicated 11 egg masses per 100 plants in Field 1 and 19 egg masses per 100 plants in Field 2. Insecticides were applied on 16-17 Aug; the 2nd application for the split Penncap-M treatment was made on 31 Aug. Treatments were evaluated on 24-25 Sep by splitting stalks, ear shanks, and removing the husks from 10 plants in the center row of each plot (center of the spray swath) and counting live larvae. Yields were taken from the center 4 rows (Field 1) or 6 rows (Field 2) of each plot with a combine. Yields were measured on a truck scale (Field 1) or with a weigh wagon (Field 2) and samples were adjusted to 15.5% moisture and number 2 corn. Yield plot sizes ranged from 0.35-0.64 acre (Field 1) and 0.4 acre (Field 2). Yield data were not collected from replication 2 in Field 2 because of a hybrid change that split the plots. Data were analyzed by using PROC ANOVA or PROC GLM procedures of SAS. Mean separation was accomplished using Fisher’s protected LSD procedure (P = 0.10).

The development of a truck scale management system for the sugar industry in Trinidad and Tobago

Summary The paper reviews a project on the development of a Truck Scale Management System (TSMS) for Caroni (1975) Limited, a State Enterprise which is seeking to improve efficiency and consequently reduce costs in its operation. The paper also provides a background on factors which significantly affect process automation. The most important of these relate to the lack of awareness by top management of the varied use and benefits of microelectronics and information technology, shortage of relevant human resources and insufficient investment incentives. Automation of the weighbridge was given high priority by Caroni's decision makers because of allegations of falsification of weights, the inability to get timely and adequate information for decision making and the labour intensiveness of the manual system. A project was undertaken to design, procure, install, commission and operate an unmanned TSMS at both factories using local personnel to execute the project. On-Board Log Truck Scales: Application to Southern Timber Harvesting

Abstract Case studies of electronic on-board log truck scales were conducted with cooperating logging contractors in Georgia and Virginia. The scales were found to accurately predict gross vehicle weight with less than 1.0% error. The cooperating contractors were able to reduce net load weightvariance by 0.52 tons and 1.14 tons, respectively.
