SUMMARYRX 45–3 is a triploid hybrid with 2n = 59. On an average, the meiotic chromosome pairing noticed is 18.1 I (range 0–21), 15.0 II (7–20), 2.2 III (1–6), 0.9 IV (0–2). 0.14 VI (0–2), and 0.7 fragments (0–3).No set was obtained when rotundifolia varieties were crossed with hybrid pollen while about 30% of the flowers set in vinifera. Majority of the berries produced were seedless and small in size. Most of the seeds gathered were floaters. The full seeds varied much in size due to the correspondingly great variation in the size of the pollen. The hybrid is extremely vigorous and looks more like rotundifolia. The importance of the hybrid in producing a desirable root-stock and may be a fruiting variety is indicated.
