Innovative Web Design of Mobile Applications for Travel Planning: Improving the Quality of User Experience

The purpose of the study is to analyze and create a web design for a travel application that will provide effective and convenient user interaction with a digital resource. The research method: general scientific methods of analysis and synthesis (to analyze the current state of the problem and existing Ukrainian applications for travel planning), modeling method (development of a goal tree and a functional model of the problem) and prototyping method (development of a prototype of a web application for travel, taking into account modern design solutions and UX/UI approaches). The scientific novelty is the development of the most innovative and modern web application design that will meet modern user requirements and ensure effective customer interaction with the application. Conclusions. Developing a web design for a travel application that will meet modern user requirements and ensure effective interaction with a digital resource is a key component of a successful product on the market. The paper examines the current state of use of mobile travel applications, identifies their positive and negative characteristics. The practical significance of the obtained results lies in the development of a travel application interface that will provide the functions of route planning and planning, recommendations for places to visit, hotel and transport booking, organization of group trips, joint route planning with other users, obtaining detailed information about events and activities, organizing excursions, sharing tips and experiences with other users. The study results can be used to develop an intuitive, convenient and functional application interface that meets the needs of users in planning and organizing travel. This will help to increase user satisfaction and the effectiveness of their interaction with the application in the process of planning and organizing travel.

Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the DPRK in the Tourism Industry

On September 13, 2023 a significant meeting of President of Russia V. Putin with DPRK leader Kim Jong Un took place at the Vostochny Space Launch Centre, and issues of bilateral cooperation, including trade and economic ties and cultural exchanges, were discussed. In our opinion, tourism could be one of the promising areas of our cooperation. The DPRK today has unique recreational, historical, and cultural attractions and has been actively developing its hotel base, trains personnel for the tourism sector, and can become one of the interesting tourist destinations for Russian tourists. After the COVID-19 pandemic and the forced closure of borders, the DPRK is gradually beginning to open up to the outside world, with priority emphasis placed on cooperation with Russia and intensifying partnership in the tourism sector. In 2024, tourists from the Russian Federation to the DPRK visited the Masik ski resort and Pyongyang, mountains Myohyang and others. According to the high level of organization of trips, friendly attitude towards Russian tourists, efficiency in resolving issues that arise during tours, the DPRK at the highest level decided to intensify cooperation with Russia in this area. The article analyzes the current situation in the tourism industry of the DPRK, opportunities for expanding the partnership between the Russian Federation and the DPRK in this area, researches the problems and ways to expand the tourist flow from the Russian Federation to the DPRK.

РОЛЬ ИМПЕРАТОРСКОГО ПРАВОСЛАВНОГО ПАЛЕСТИНСКОГО ОБЩЕСТВА В КОНТЕКСТЕ ПОДДЕРЖКИ ПАЛОМНИЧЕСТВА ЦЕРКОВНОСЛУЖИТЕЛЕЙ В СВЯТУЮ ЗЕМЛЮ В КОН. XIX В.

The aim of the scientific article is to analyze statistical data on Russian pilgrims - clergymen who visited the Holy Land in the late 19th century based on official reports and data published by the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society (IOPS). The author also pays serious attention to the issue and system of organizing pilgrimage trips to Palestine for clergymen from Russia and the role of the IOPS in this process. Currently, there are no comprehensive works devoted to this issue in Russian historiography. At the same time, consideration of the specifics of the participation of clergymen in general pilgrimage flows from the Russian Empire to the Holy Land will allow us to determine the number of such persons, the features of their everyday services, participation in liturgies, organization of pilgrimage caravans and visits to Christian places of worship. The scientific novelty of the article lies in the fact that it actually provides for the first time data and their assessment on the number of priests who visited Palestine for pilgrimage purposes in the 1880-1890s. It is important that the IPPO did not specifically conduct a sample of worshipers by class and occupation, which complicates the study of the issue. At the same time, individual little-studied reports and reports of the IPPO commissioners in the Holy Land, the leaders of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem, the memoirs of clergymen, as well as other scattered information published in the official publication of the society "IPPO Messages" allow for a scientific justification and verifiable conclusions. The research methods used in writing the article are of a general scientific and special nature. Using analysis and synthesis, statistical data on pilgrims in the Holy Land were collected and evaluated. A comparative historical analysis made it possible to determine the role of the IPPO in supporting the pilgrimage of clergymen to holy places. In the future, it is planned to study the features of the interaction of the IPPO and the Russian Orthodox Church with the Eastern Patriarchates in the context of supporting the pilgrimage of clergy to the Holy Land, to identify and characterize the features of the organization of pilgrimage trips based on the recollections of clergy, to analyze the nature of contacts of the IPPO and the Russian Orthodox Church with the Patriarchates of Constantinople, Jerusalem, Antioch and Alexandria in the context of the development of pilgrimage to Palestine of clergy in the late 19th – early 20th centuries.

Nowadays the current situation in the world makes domestic tourism the most relevant type of tourism for our country, and therefore there is a tendency for the development of railway tours. The purpose of the study is creating tourist railway trips. The subject of the research is the technology of designing railway tours. The mentioned statistics demonstrate the insufficient eye of rail transport for tourist trips in comparison with automobile and air transport. The place of the Russian Federation in the ranking of countries in terms of tourist passenger traffic has been shown. A generalization of the problems hindering the development of railway tourism has been carried out. Thanks to the generated list of factors significant to customers we have chosen a travel route and identified 10 priority routes for locals under study. The technology of selecting promising touristic routes and directions for improving the organization of tourist trips along the same road has been presented. This technology is a result of an assessment of their competitiveness based on the survey of passengers of specific railway routes in the region. The obtained research results can be used to justify the choice of an option when developing travel railway routes. Using the passengers’ opinions on certain routes of a particular region allows us to offer railway tours that are in demand.

Railway tourism in providing the sustainable and smart population mobility

It is emphasized that the transport infrastructure significantly affects the choice of a tourist to travel to a specific destination. Within the mainland, it is recommended to use rail transport for travel as the most competitive in comparison with other modes of transport. The advantages and disadvantages of the organization of tourist railway trips are summarized. The main factors affecting tourists’ desire to travel by railway at different levels are highlighted. Examples of the organization of tourist trips by railways are given. Directions for providing services in the organization of railway tourism are proposed.A scheme for constructing a schedule is provided, which allows you to determine the break-even point of the organization of tourist railway trips along a specific route. It is recommended to divide all costs of the company, which will be engaged in the organization of railway tourist transportation. At the same time, contingent and fixed costs, in turn, were divided into: contingent and fixed costs that take into account tourist transportation in general and contingent and fixed costs that directly depend on the structure of the tourist train.

Majówki i wycieczki szkolne jako forma pracy dydaktyczno-wychowawczej na łamach lwowskiej „Szkoły” okresu zaborów

The aim of the article is to present the debate on the teaching and educational effectiveness of school trips, described in Lviv “Szkoła”, the oldest Galician educational magazine –, from the moment the periodical was founded in 1868 until Poland regained independence. In the pages of this magazine, the leading representatives of the teaching community of the time, often professionally active teachers, expressed their opinions on the subject, analysing both the possibilities and the risks related to a broader use of these forms of teaching work. They often put forward original proposals regarding formal issues of the organisation of trips and outings, also referring to their own experiences in this area. The debate was not free from polemics but a majority of its participants positively assessed trips as a means of physical, health, hygienic and aesthetic education of students. The trips were also recognised to be a perfect opportunity to conduct illustrative geography or history lessons, and to shape civic and patriotic attitudes.

An Emperor Travels around the Russian Empire Outskirts in the 1880s: As According to V.S. Obolenskii’s Diary

Based on the materials from a previously unpublished source - the diary of Prince V.S. Obolenskii-Neledinskii-Meletskii, preserved in the Department of Written Sources of the State Historical Museum, the authors in their article consider the travels of Alexander III through the outlying territories of the Russian Empire in 1882-1888. The diary contains not only many details from the life of the imperial family and the court, but also information on the organization of official and unofficial trips of the emperor, which made it possible to trace the changes that took place in the ceremonial practice and the influence of modernization processes on the goals of the emperor's travels. There is presented through new information on the official visits of Alexander III to Poland (1884, 1886), Finland (1885), the Province of the Don Cossack Host (1887), Ukraine (1885) and the Caucasus (1888), as well as on private vacation trips to the Finnish skerries, the Principality of Łowicz and Livadia. The author shows that as inspection and study trips around Russia became a thing of the past, as ceremonial events came to the fore. The travels of Alexander III, continuing the line traced under Alexander II, were intended to establish a positive image of the monarch and emphasize the connection with his subjects. In the 1880s, visits to remote imperial residences for the purpose of recreation and entertainment became a regular occurrence, events which should be considered as an important part of the daily life of the imperial family.

Mykola Lysenko and Yakiv Hulak-Artemovskyi: to History of their Relationship

The purpose of the article is to reveal the peculiarities of communication between Mykola Lysenko-conductor and amateur singer Yakiv Hulak-Artemovskyi. Research methodology. The following methods have been used in the research: exploratory, analysis and generalisation method to reveal the communication of the eminent master with this specific member of the choir, based on the latter’s memories and epistolary. Scientific novelty of the research. The article reveals for the first time certain aspects of Mykola Lysenko's work with the choir and the conductor's collaboration with the amateur singer Yakiv Hulak-Artemovskyi, his faithful assistant, who became the “right hand” of the conductor. Conclusions. Yakiv Hulak-Artemovskyi is a person from Mykola Lysenko's circle, extremely responsible and devoted. Understanding Mykola Lysenko's business, his impracticality in financial affairs, at the same time his great love for his native people and cheering for their future, he agreed to become a voluntary assistant of the artist. The relationship of Mykola Lysenko – an outstanding Ukrainian composer and conductor, with Yakiv Hulak-Artemovskyi – an amateur singer and choir manager must be a model of deep respect, tolerance, and an example of devoted service to the cause of Ukrainian choral art. The creative tandem of these caring personalities contributed to coordinated and successful work of the choir, preparation of concert programmes, organisation of tour trips, and the popularisation of the native song among the Ukrainian population. Mykola Lysenko and Yakiv Hulak-Artemovskyi were Ukrainian patriots, highly spiritual personalities, and hardworking people who defended the right of the people to be treated with dignity within or under the conditions of the colonialist policy of the Russian Empire: Mykola Lysenko as a defining cultural figure, whereas Yakiv Hulak-Artemovskyi was an average, but dedicated representative of Ukrainian citizenship. Both faithfully served their native people and the Ukrainian culture. Yakiv Hulak-Artemovskyi respected Mykola Lysenko as a talented artist, admired him as a personality, as well as, his ability to maintain independent views, even in the most difficult times. In turn, Mykola Lysenko valued Yakiv Hulak-Artemovskyi as a singer and head of the choir, and as a reliable assistant and adviser.

System characteristics and matrix tools for evaluating innovative business models of youth tourism

This scientific article is devoted to the issues of identifying innovative business models of youth tourism based on two scientific approaches: functional-innovative (customized business model, virtual tourism platform, franchising business model) and holistic (shared tourism platforms, outdoor co-working tourism, organization of youth hostels, mobile karaoke bars and pub for youth, developing tourism programs (including package tours) for social networks, couchsurfing tours for youth, personalized tourism offers for young people, the organization of «combo tours» (combination of several types of tourism), crowdsourcing tourism, organization of tours in the format of «digital nomads», organization of tree tours, transformational tourism, digital tourism, organization of tours with ATVs, mopeds and bicycles). Furthermore, the study was able to identify conceptual business models that describe the specific characteristics and components of the different types of youth tourism: close interaction between tour operator, travel agency and end consumer based on the use of digital solutions; partial involvement of tour operators and travel agencies in the design of the tourist offer or without; involvement of third parties not directly connected with the tourism market; the presence of a large number of intermediaries; pronounced customization of services; participation of the main players in the tourist market of service organizations through intermediaries; organization of trips without physical departure using digital tools; close interaction of individuals in the process of organizing trips based on digital platforms. In the work, a scientometric and content analysis of search queries was conducted to identify important research areas within the framework of the scientific problems considered by the authors (the total amount of information used for the study was 4309 scientific documents; at the same time, the number of search queries processed in Google Trends was 4 units with an average observation period of 5 years); in addition, the distinguishing features of classic and innovative business models, including those related to the tourism business, were identified, a matrix for the correspondence of conceptual and specific business models of youth tourism was created, as well as their distribution according to three selected criteria: the level of formation of tourist interest and personalization, the degree of involvement of the tourist in the process of providing tourist services. It is also important to note that based on the results of the study, a conceptual scheme for the correlation of organizational functions and the formation of structural units and organizational links within a tourism company in the selection of the optimal innovative business model for youth tourism was developed.

ПЕРСПЕКТИВИ РОЗВИТКУ ФЕСТИВАЛЬНОГО ТУРИЗМУ В ХМЕЛЬНИЦЬКІЙ ОБЛАСТІ

The aim of the study. To investigate the current state and prospects of the festival tourism development in the Khmelnytskyi region. The development of tourism, particularly festival tourism, is important for the economy of the country and territorial communities, as it ensures the growth of tourist flows and the development of infrastructure. Method. The research uses general scientific research methods, namely, general logical methods: comparison, analysis, synthesis, generalization and analogy. The methods of analysis, synthesis and generalization were used in the study of the cause-and-effect relationship growth of the tourist activity in the region due to the use and preservation of tourist objects, cultural and historical local communities' traditions. Using the method of analogy, the probable positive results of the development of festival tourism in the Khmelnytskyi region were evaluated. Results. Examples of the development of festival tourism in Khmelnytskyi region are demonstrated. The prospects for the development of festival tourism in the Khmelnytskyi region have been determined. The scientific novelty. The scientific novelty of the obtained results lies in the fact that the potential of using festivals in the field of tourism of the Khmelnytskyi region has been determined. The directions for the development of festival tourism in Khmelnytskyi region are described in order to activate domestic tourism and improve the image of the region at the international level. Practical significance. The article provides examples of the festival tourism development in Khmelnytskyi region. The strengths and weaknesses of festival tourism in the region are analyzed. The development of this type of tourism has many positive aspects: popularization of the native region, development of local infrastructure, receipt of funds to the budget, creation of new jobs, attraction of new tourists to other tourist locations. The article argues that the festival tourism development potential of Khmelnytskyi region is very rich and needs development. The obtained scientific results are used in the educational process of future specialists in the direction of training «Tourism», with the educational qualification «Tourism expert, organizer of excursion and animation activities» when teaching the disciplines «Organization of tourist trips», «Professional competences in tourism business», «Organization of tourist activities». СУЧАСНІ ТЕНДЕНЦІЇ УПРАВЛІННЯ ТУРИСТИЧНОЮ ДІЯЛЬНІСТЮ В УКРАЇНІ

The article examines the current trends in tourism management in Ukraine. The tourism industry of Ukraine is an important component of the economic and social development of the country. However, taking into account the existing risks, rapid changes and instability of the situation in the world and in the country, there is a need for a detailed analysis of the methods and methods of managing tourist activities at the state, regional and tourist enterprise levels. The tourism industry is of great importance for the economy of Ukraine, as it is one of the components of filling the state budget, creating additional jobs, improving the country's image at the international level, and ensuring social and economic development. The theoretical and practical meaning of "management" is the influence of the subject of management on the object of management. The subject of tourism management is state authorities, and the object is tourist enterprises (tourist agents and operators), as well as other enterprises and organizations involved in the formation of the tourist product, servicing and meeting the needs of tourists. The organizational structure of the management of the tourism sector at the regional level is ensured by the effective activity of the relevant structural units. Departments or departments of culture and tourism function in regional state administrations. In some cases, the number of employees is significantly limited or does not correspond to the tourist potential of the region. In the organization of tourist trips, an important place is occupied by tourist enterprises, which cannot function without a management system. An effective management system ensures the competitiveness and efficiency of the enterprise. A necessary condition for the creation and promotion of a quality tourist product is the use of innovative technologies as a means of information exchange. The management of a tourist enterprise should be aimed at implementing the optimal tourism product or service to achieve competitive advantages and ensure livelihoods. It has been established that natural, human, and financial resources, which are provided by social, economic, legal, and organizational levers, have the greatest influence on the development of tourism in Ukraine. It is noted that modern management methods are not always effective and do not have a systemic nature at the state and regional level. Improvement of the management system at all levels will allow effective use of tourist potential and development of the tourism industry.

АНАЛІЗ СТАНУ КОРПОРАТИВНОЇ КУЛЬТУРИ МОЛОКОПЕРЕРОБНОГО ПІДПРИЄМСТВА УКРАЇНИ

Despite the growing importance of corporate culture for the effective functioning of the enterprise and increasing its competitiveness on the economic market, today there is no established generalizing methodology that would allow obtaining reliable data when studying its formation and quickly diagnosing the current state. Also, no quantitative assessment of the effectiveness of its impact on the enterprise team has been developed, especially it is not possible to assess its direct role in changes in production processes. As a rule, the study and generalization of specific manifestations of corporate culture is a long and time-consuming process, which involves an abductive process of analysis, respectively, based on the terminal results of the impact of corporate culture on the company's staff.
 The purpose of the article is to analyze the results of a study of the corporate culture of one of the milk processing enterprises of the western region of Ukraine using a questionnaire of its employees.
 The article outlines a general approach to the analysis of the current state of the corporate culture of one of the dairy enterprises of Ukraine. The method of diagnosis using a questionnaire and statistical processing of the obtained data is shown.
 According to the results of the questionnaire, it was established that employees believe that they form a certain corporate culture while working in the company, but they do not feel like participants in a big cause, do not fully imagine the company's mission. However, all employees answered that they like working in the company, and this is one of the main parameters of commitment and loyalty.
 As for the weaknesses of the corporate culture, the following are highlighted: weak implementation of corporate style and low availability for employees of any corporate attributes. Strengths include her management style and low number of conflicts within the company. The direction to improve the corporate culture is the implementation of joint events for the exchange of experience among employees; improvement of the personal experience of employees thanks to the organization of trips for them to training courses.
 Diagnostics of corporate culture allows to classify the level of labor relations that have developed in various structural units and in the organization as a whole. Understanding the field in which the organization operates, it is possible to develop a personnel management policy appropriate to its tasks in each structural division or to correct the corporate culture, which will increase the competitiveness of the enterprise.

TRANSFORMATION OF THE FUNCTIONING OF THE TOURISM SPHERE OF UKRAINE UNDER THE CONDITIONS OF THE MARITAL STATE AND EXPECTED DIRECTIONS OF ITS DEVELOPMENT IN THE POST-WAR PERIOD

The purpose of the article is to outline the range of problems associated with the functioning of the tourism sphere of Ukraine in the conditions of martial law, and to determine promising directions for its development in the post-war period. The following research methods are used to achieve such purpose: theoretical synthesis, analysis, abstract and logical – to identify problems of the functioning of the tourism sphere of Ukraine; survey – to reveal the opinions of the respondents regarding the state and possible prospects for the development of tourism in Ukraine; graphic – for a visual presentation of survey results. The article is devoted to topical issues of organizing tourist flows under martial law. Economic losses in the field of tourism as a result of the war unleashed by Russia on the territory of Ukraine are outlined. The emergence of new types of tourism in the conditions of war has been proven. An author’s study was conducted on how military actions in Ukraine in 2022 affected the tourism sector. It was established that the majority of respondents consider rest during the war to be permissible (as a result – support of domestic tourism entities, improvement of the psycho-emotional state of the population, increase of the working capacity of the population, etc.); tourism will develop intensively after the victory of Ukraine, as our country will become a popular location for foreign tourists; and domestic tourism will become the most popular. The obtained survey results are highly representative and allow for a reliable analysis of public attitudes of the population regarding the need for rest during the war in Ukraine, the positive role of the tourism sector on both the social and economic development of Ukraine, and the restoration of the psycho-emotional state of a person during the war. In addition, attention is focused on the need to ensure the safety of tourists when organizing trips, and possible directions for the activation of tourism in the future are outlined. The war made adjustments to the development of tourism, which was already “going through” difficult times due to the COVID-19 pandemic, because the number of tourists decreased significantly, logistical problems arose with the organization of tourist trips, and part of the domestic tourist routes became dangerous, and in some places impossible to carry out. However, the tourism sector has significant potential, the use of which will contribute to the replenishment of community budgets, the restoration and preservation of people’s physical and mental health.

In the article by "Development of the public movement of physical culture and sports orientation in the Romanian lands: "Tourist Society of Romania" (beginning of the 20th century)" the peculiarities of the formation of the public movement of physical culture and sports orientation in the Romanian lands of the beginning of 20th century The role of the "Tourist Society of Romania" in popularizing and spreading hiking tourism among all segments of the population is highlighted. The society's achievements in attracting school youth to systematic physical education, tourism, local history, etc. have been identified. The authors of the article proved that the slogan of the club "Through tourism to knowledge and love for Romania" synthesized the ideas of the predecessors regarding the educational and educational potential of tourism. The article analyzes the features of the tourist work of that time, one of the most striking ones is the formation of the theory and methodology of tourist activity: the appearance of recommendations for the organization of trips of various levels, for example, the identification of the principles "from a simple to a complex route", "from a short to a long-term movement", as well as an understanding of importance careful preparation - planning, using the results of "working on mistakes" made after the previous event. The activities of the thematic magazines published in the Romanian lands during the research period are analyzed, the main topics and issues relevant for that time are highlighted. According to the authors, the "Tourist Society of Romania" published 13 issues of its yearbook - "Anuarul S.T.R.", which, according to modern researchers, was a valuable guide for those who wanted to participate in mountain trips, as well as a source for researching the activities of this society now. After all, the final part of each edition presented a list of members of the headquarters and sections, quantitative changes in members, as well as the names and titles of organizations or enterprises that provided assistance to the society. It was concluded that historically formed traditions and favorable geographical conditions on the one hand, and traditional to begin with 20th century a developed social movement and a clear understanding of the educational and educational potential of tourism, in particular for school youth, on the other hand, caused the development of its methodological basis and practical implementation on the territory of Romania.

In the context of the pandemic, the business tourism sector has undergone a transformation that has had a negative impact on all areas of tourism, including the development of MICE-events in a particular region. Meanwhile, the development of business tourism contributes to the growth of the rating of regions and positioning them as attractive venues for organizing major events and attracting business tourists. The provision of services in the field of business tourism and the organization of trips and various events in this industry of meetings differs from classical tourist services, has special specifics and deserves separate consideration. The basis for the study was the Sverdlovsk region. The authors of the study identified the factors and conditions for the development of business tourism and the prerequisites for its integration into the economy of the territory in the context of pandenomics. The restrictions associated with COVID-19 have significantly changed the approach to doing MICE-business. The article proposes a method for the implementation of cross-functional relations among key players in the business tourism market, which allows achieving a synergistic effect in the business travel market through the exchange of experience between effective participants in the business sector and government structures, as well as by attracting international partners. The analysis made it possible to conclude that MICE-tourism contributes to the sustainability of the socio-economic development of the territory. The authors also developed recommendations for creating a system for promoting business tourism in the region, the main factor in the development of which is the unification of the professional community in the field of tourism and the hospitality industry. The proposed mechanism for the development of business tourism will contribute to the sustainability of the regional sphere of business tourism.

Investigating the determinants of outbound long-haul tourist daily expenditure and length of stay

This study investigates the determinants of long-haul tourists’ daily expenditure and length of stay. Relative price competitiveness, travel party size, activity engagement in entertainment, and trip organization method affect both daily spending and length of stay. Income and engagement in outdoor activities further contribute to predict daily expenditure, whereas activity engagement in nature and culture activities significantly affects the length of stay. The study presents helpful information to stakeholders responsible for outbound long-haul tourist destination policy and planning in mature and emerging destinations.

The peculiarities of organizational bases of scientific work of students specialized in folk studies at Lviv University at different stages of its history (as the Emperor Franz I Imperial-Royal University of Lviv (before 1918), as Jan Casimir University of Lviv (1919–1939) and as Ivan Franko State University of Lviv) are characterized. Particular attention is paid to the forms of activity of student scientific societies. As a result of the study, it was stated that one of the important components of the organization of folk studies at Lviv University were student scientific societies, organized directly on the initiative of students interested in various fields of folk studies. One of the first such societies – the Ethnographic Circle – emerged at the Geographical Institute of the Emperor Franz I Imperial-Royal University of Lviv. The Circle of Students of Anthropological Sciences of the Jan Casimir University of Lviv have been active since the late 1920s. It differed from similar student societies in other universities in its efforts to develop links between anthropology, ethnology, and prehistory. The society also taxed the connections of these sciences with related branches of scientific knowledge – the history of law, sociology, etc. This direction contributed to the search for new methodological approaches to solving c problems of folk studies. The activities of the Circle of Anthropological Sciences were supported (in particular, financially) at the level of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Poland, the leadership of Lviv University and its professors Jan Czekanowski, Adam Fischer, Leon Kozłowski, associate professors and doctors. This activity contributed to the improvement of professional training of future scientists, and at that time – students. Scientific work, organized within the framework of student scientific societies, was also developed at Ivan Franko State University of Lviv. In particular, in the first postwar years a Circle of Folklore and Ethnography was organized, Mykhailo Skoryk took care of this society. One of the important components of the society’s activity was the organization of field trips of students in order to record folklore and ethnographic materials.

Student’s educational geological practice in the COVID-19 epidemic

Teaching students under the conditions of COVID-19 epidemic requires fundamental changes in the system of education, the use of new technologies, approaches and facilities. The paper deals with the experience of implementing hybrid learning when conducting educational geological field practice for students majoring in construction at Samara State Technical University, which took place in the summer of 2021. In the case of mixed training lectures are realized in the online format, and laboratory, seminar classes and practical training are conducted face-to-face, with the obligatory observance of safety measures and in small groups. A new geological route for the geological training practice within the central part of the city on the fourth stage of the embankment of the Volga River was developed. The use of the new route will allow to study the properties of magmatic, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks, features of the course and results of exogenous geological processes (gully formation, landslides, karst formation, abrasion, weathering, etc.) and the geomorphological structure of the Volga River valley. The location of the route within the city center, not far from the university buildings will allow to carry out educational geological practice in small groups, without any organization of trips and study tours to geological sites, which is relevant during the pandemic.

Illegal domestic tourism of Poles during the COVID-19 pandemic – introduction to the research

Motives: Tourism is one of the most affected industries by the COVID-19 pandemic. The restrictions introduced by the Polish government, dictated by the rapidly increasing number of positive cases in the country, led to severe restrictions or complete cessation of the accommodation, catering and tourist services. These restrictions resulted in greater interest in the “little homeland” tourist offer, the dispersion of tourist traffic and the development of so called “grey zone” through unofficial functioning of accommodation facilities.Aim: The purpose of this paper is to characterize the profile of tourists who paid for the accommodation services in Poland during the second wave of the pandemic, lasting from 7th November 2020 to 11th February 2021. The research methodology included a diagnostic survey conducted through the use of a digital questionnaire circulated in social media. In total 100 responses were subjected to qualitative analysis. On the basis of the obtained results, the authors analyzed the following criteria: the number, time, place, length and method of organization of trips; type of accommodation with the costs estimate and the method of obtaining information about the functioning of the chosen facility; means of transportation to the destination, main and secondary travel motives. The study also presents the changes declared by the respondents in the frequency of organizing a one-day trip and several-day-long trips away from the place of their daily residence, as well as the assessment of the quality of the services provided against the price.Results: Almost 70% of the respondents paid for the accommodation services in the given time frame at least once, mainly booking private lodging using Booking.com portal. The organized trips were usually short-term and lasted 3 days. Only every 5th trip was planned in advance, before the restrictions were introduced. The main motive for the trip was the desire to change the environment,understood as escaping the city and relaxing outdoors. The vast majority of respondents did not suffer from COVID-19 before the trip, and every fourth respondent considered the applicable restrictions as too severe.

A CASE STUDY COMPARING GOOD PRACTICE IN THE USE OF PEDAGOGICAL RESOURCES IN HOLOCAUST EDUCATION IN ENGLAND AND REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

The aim of this study is to analyze good practice in teaching about the Holocaust, comparing the use of pedagogical resources in Republika Srpska (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and England (United Kingdom). The paper compares the use of three types of pedagogical resources used in history classes: fictional films, documentaries, and photographs of Holocaust atrocities. Comparison is drawn between a developing and post-conflict society (Republika Srpska) and the well-established and reputable English educational system. By cross-referencing teachers’ and students’ answers, the paper attempts to identify good practice of notable value to be shared and exchanged. The research method firstly incorporated questionnaires, followed by interviews and then lesson observation. Data revealed that teachers in both education systems do not appear to consider all the educational benefits of film screening. The way teachers from England use pictures of Holocaust atrocities and organization of school trips seem to be applicable to the context of Republika Srpska, as well as being useful for classroom practitioners beyond these two education systems.
