The need for a research methodology is not without reason because conducting research requires a systematic method, where with a research methodology a study can be accounted for because it has a fairly high level of credibility. Research methodology is the basis for a researcher to draw conclusions so that he can find reliable solutions to problems using scientific measurements. Initial observation results show that the research methods for students' theses in the Master of Education Management Study Program vary, but have not been identified so the direction of the trend is not known for certain. Meanwhile, information about trends in research methods and the factors that influence them is important information in curriculum development and the basis for program decision making related to efforts to improve academic quality in the Master of Education Management Study Program at Jambi University. This research aims to determine the trend of methods used by students in the Master of Education Management Study Program and the factors that influence them. The object of the research is the theses of students from the 2021 and 2022 Master of Education Management Study Program. The data was processed using non-test techniques through interviews, questionnaires and documentation, and then analyzed descriptively qualitatively. The research results show that: 1) The research methods for students' theses at the Master of Education Management Study Program at Jambi University vary, including qualitative methods (case studies, document studies, centralized interviews, phenomenology) and quantitative methods (surveys); 2) The factors that determine a student's choice of research method are: thesis supervisor; competency in student understanding of research objects; and the influence of college friends.

Objectives The study aims to analyze the trends of research in brain-based learning in the domestic context and to provide implications for future research tasks and direction.
 Methods 97 papers with the keywords “brain education” and “brain learning” published in education journals listed in the Korean Citation Index (KCI) journals from 2003 to April 2023 were collected. Among them, 66 papers that were appropriate for the research purpose were selected as the final analysis target. The analysis criteria were research year, research purpose and content, research method and data collection method, and research subject. Content analysis was conducted.
 Results First, the results of the study showed that research on brain-based learning has been actively studied since the mid-2010s. Second, the results of the study showed that the highest proportion of research on brain- based learning (43.9%) was related to understanding. Third, the trends in research methods showed that qual-itative research methods (47.0%) and quantitative research methods (43.9%) were used in similar proportions, and mixed research methods were used in the lowest proportion of 6 (9.1%). The most common data collection method was documents with 28 (42.4%). Finally, in terms of research trends by research subject, there were many studies on infants and young children, and adult teachers also had a lot of research on infant teachers.
 Conclusions This study suggests that detailed policy support and educational discussions are needed to promote the activation of brain-based learning research. Furthermore, future research should involve the active use of ad-vanced devices such as EEG or fMRI to directly validate the brain's learning processes, moving beyond the evalua-tion of program effectiveness.

HR practices and work relationships: A 20 year review of relational HRM research

AbstractWe systematically reviewed quantitative studies of phenomena at the nexus of Human Resource Management (HRM) and interpersonal relationships. We report on the overall prevalence and trends in research methods relating to construct, internal, external, and statistical conclusion validity. The review draws attention to areas of emphasis (positive relationships, instrumental ties, nonnetwork structures, employee respondents, samples drawn from Asia, HR perceptions). We also identify a growing emphasis on particularly desirable approaches to examining relational HRM (a more balanced consideration of positive and negative relationships, studies that examine more than one HR practice, multilevel analyses). Together, the identified areas of emphasis, gaps, and associated trends, inform our elucidation of research directions around 15 specific work relationships—along with more general directions for better accounting for dynamic, multilevel, measurement, and analytical considerations central to HRM and interpersonal relationships.

Research progress on the self-ignition of high-pressure hydrogen discharge: A review

As one of the most promising fossil energy substitutes, hydrogen energy is receiving increasing attention, and it has been greatly developed in recent years. However, hydrogen safety issues limit the large-scale application of hydrogen energy. Since 1922, the issue of self-ignition of high-pressure hydrogen discharge has gradually become the focus of attention of scholars in the field of hydrogen energy. Particularly fruitful research results have been obtained in the past 20 years, showing that the minimum discharge pressure of hydrogen self-ignition is approximately 2 MPa. In particular, the discharge tube shape and bursting disc rupture have a significant effect on the characteristics of hydrogen self-ignition. Moreover, the study of the hydrogen self-ignition mechanism under special working conditions has been extended by shock-induced ignition theory. Initial conditions mainly affect the critical pressure of hydrogen self-ignition by changing the formation, development and propagation of shock waves. Finally, the deficiencies and future research trends in research methods, self-ignition characteristics, and dynamic mechanisms are analysed.

Innovations and advances in modelling and measuring pain in animals.

Best practices in preclinical algesiometry (pain behaviour testing) have shifted over the past decade as a result of technological advancements, the continued dearth of translational progress and the emphasis that funding institutions and journals have placed on rigour and reproducibility. Here we describe the changing trends in research methods by analysing the methods reported in preclinical pain publications from the past 40 years, with a focus on the last 5 years. We also discuss how the status quo may be hampering translational success. This discussion is centred on four fundamental decisions that apply to every pain behaviour experiment: choice of subject (model organism), choice of assay (pain-inducing injury), laboratory environment and choice of outcome measures. Finally, we discuss how human tissues, which are increasingly accessible, can be used to validate the translatability of targets and mechanisms identified in animal pain models.

Educational technology research trends in Turkey from a critical perspective: An analysis of postgraduate theses

AbstractThe aim of this study is to explore the research trends in the context of postgraduate programmes in the field of Educational Technology (ET) in Turkey between 1996 and 2016, and to uncover the possible factors that influence these trends from the perspective of ET faculty members. This study was informed by critical theory and employed the critical inquiry method. In the first phase, content analysis technique was used in order to explore trends in research methods and topics in theses completed in ET postgraduate programmes in Turkey. In the second phase, in‐depth interviews were conducted with 11 faculty members regarding the possible influential factors. The findings of the content analysis indicated that ET research was dominated by quantitative research designs in the examined theses. Critical methods were overlooked and social, cultural, and political issues were largely silenced. The findings of the interviews showed that the factors that have been influential on ET research trends were the social impact of the research, personal interests and skills, disciplinary and departmental culture, and feasibility concerns. This study presents implications for better ET research by addressing blind spots of the field and providing suggestions for ET postgraduate students, ET scholars, policymakers and practitioners in a global context and other developing countries since the resulting trends in Turkey were found similar to international trends in the field.

Event management research over the past 12 years: What are the current trends in research methods, data collection, data analysis procedures, and event types?

ABSTRACTThe meetings, expositions, events, and conventions sector has gained recognition as an academic field by growth in higher education programs including courses, programs, and textbooks, as well as research. The purpose of the extant research is to review event, tourism, and hospitality journals from 2004 to 2016 to provide insight into the current state of research in terms of data collection and data analysis procedures. Results can assist researchers identify the type of journal to target for publication with consideration of the type of event, methods, and data analysis procedures.

Diving deep into digital literacy: emerging methods for research

Literacy studies approaches have tended to adopt a position which enables ethnographic explorations of a wide range of ‘literacies’. An important issue arising is the new challenge required for researchers to capture, manage, and analyse data that highlight the unique character of practices around texts in digital environments. Such inquiries, we argue, require multiple elements of data to be captured and analysed as part of effective literacy ethnographies. These include such things as the unfolding of digital texts, the activities around them, and features of the surrounding social and material environment. This paper addresses these methodological issues drawing from three educationally focused studies, and reporting their experiences and insights within uniquely different contexts. We deal with the issue of adopting new digital methods for literacy research through the notion of a ‘deep dive’ to explore educational tasks in classrooms. Through a discussion of how we approached the capture and analysis of our data, we present methods to better understand digital literacies in education. We then outline challenges posed by our methods, how they can be used more broadly for researching interaction in digital environments, and how they augment transdisciplinary debates and trends in research methods.

The journal – A review of its first 45 years

Since the inception of the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Criminology in March 1968, the journal has, without doubt, become the leading criminological journal in the Australasian region. The founding Editor, Dr Allen Bartholomew, had many hopes and expectations for the journal envisaging ‘… a systematic study of all the measures to be taken in the spheres of prevention…of legislation, of the enforcement of criminal law, of punishments and other methods of treatment’. In this article, we track the journal's progress from its inception in 1968 to 2012 (45 years into its future) to assess whether Dr Bartholomew's hopes and expectations have materialised and in what ways the study of crime and its prevention has evolved over the years. We survey the journal's 45 year journey in in an ever-changing and dynamic environment by examining issues such as gender and trends in origins of authors, trends in research methods, the crime issues and how they have evolved over time, and the journals impact on public policy.

Perspectives on Technology in Learning and Teaching Languages

Rapid evolution of communication technologies has changed language pedagogy and language use, enabling new forms of discourse, new forms of authorship, and new ways to create and participate in communities. The first section of this article identifies and discusses four key issues arising from the recent technology-related literature (the status of CALL, its theoretical grounding, its cultural embeddedness, and its effectiveness). The second section synthesizes research findings from three current areas of research: computer-mediated communication, electronic literacies, and telecollaboration. The third section develops implications for teaching and research, highlighting the importance of the teacher, new understandings of language and communication, critical awareness of the relationships among technology, language, culture, and society, and new trends in research methods.

An Introduction to 75 Years of the Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport

This paper provides an introduction to the development of the 75th anniversary issue of the Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport (RQES) and previews the papers that are included. This issue includes papers that focus (a) on specific areas of research in our various fields and trends in research methods and (b) more generally on RQES as a publication. The collection of papers celebrates the role RQES has played in the evolution of our field while also critically analyzing it. In the second part of the paper, I discuss how the editorial process has changed and the many people who participate in the review process and help to publish the journal. RQES has continued to produce high-quality research for 75 years.

DEC Recommended Practices: A Review of 9 Years of EIlECSE Research Literature

Results are reported from an analysis of the research literature involving children with disabilities (age birth through 5), their families, personnel who serve them, and policies and systems change strategies related to the provision of services. The work reported in this article was part of a national effort by the Division for Early Childhood (DEC) of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) and several participating universities to develop a set of evidence-based recommended practices for the field. We reviewed research articles appearing in 48 peer-reviewed journals from 1990 to 1998. Analyses of the literature review database reveal trends in research methods used for studying particular topics and information about populations and settings studied during this time period.

Trends in research methods in applied linguistics: China and the West

This study attempts to examine and compare current trends in applied linguistics (AL) research methods in China and the West. A review is conducted on applied linguistics articles in four Chinese journals, from 1978 to 1997, and four English journals, from 1985 to 1997. These 2486 articles are categorized into quantitative, qualitative, and non-empirical studies, each in turn subcategorized. Results show that in China, AL research is heading from non-empirical toward empirical direction, with quantitative studies particularly on the rise. In the West, AL research, with a well-established empirical tradition, sees the quantitative paradigm being challenged by the qualitative.
