State Management of Energy Efficiency Improvement in Agricultural Regions of the Russian Federation

The sustainable development of the Russian Federation and its subjects, associated with limiting the negative impact of economic entities on the environment and ensuring the rational use of natural resources of the territory, is not just following the modern trends of the international community to reduce the energy intensity of the national economy, but also economic expediency caused by increasing the competitiveness and energy efficiency of economic entities and regions of the country by reducing energy costs in production products. Agriculture as one of the energy-intensive sectors of the economy (the second after industry, which accounts for over 12% of electricity consumption in the country) is characterized by a significant diversity in the levels and rates of energy consumption in different regions of the country, which of course requires consideration in public administration and implementation of regional energy conservation policies. In this regard, the article proposes a typological grouping of agricultural regions of Russia, which is based on the growth rates of energy production, energy consumption, agricultural production and the share of agriculture in regional energy consumption. The originality of the study lies in the fact that on the basis of a geographically sectoral approach, the grouping of agricultural regions of the country is carried out not according to the actual volumes of agricultural products produced (as it is typical in such cases), but according to the amount of energy resources (electricity) consumed by agriculture in a particular subject of the Russian Federation, which allows obtaining more relevant data. The research results obtained in this way allow us to develop incident measures and additive mechanisms for improving energy efficiency, taking into account the specifics of the energy development of the industry and the trends of sustainable development of the region. The article contains elements of novelty in the formulation of the problem and the research methodology presented by the typology of agricultural regions of Russia. The article contributes to the evaluation of management decisions at the regional level in the framework of the implementation of energy conservation policy and the application of regional energy efficiency programs.

Today’s Mechanisms of Financing the 4th Energy-Transition

Today global community focuses on stepping-up efforts aimed at cutting emissions of green-house gases to the atmosphere. It is connected with active realization of the 4th energy-transition strategy based on replacement of one power sources by others that are more efficient and ecologically clean. Current trends of sustainable development define priorities and new approaches to sources and forms of financing. Serious impact on selection of finance mechanisms is made by sectoral specific features demonstrating key lines of development. The article studies accessible efficient finance tools, which can provide a new format of interaction with regard to principles of power system functioning. As auxiliary resources fostering finance priority identification the author put forward ESG-accounting and ESG-ratings. European experience of using mechanisms of financing energy-effective projects can be interesting. The author formulated principles of the 4th energy-transition, showed key lines in the 4th energy-transition financing with regard to coordination of economic interests of process participants and highlighted the most important sources of financing. It is recommended to prioritize the development of technological competences oriented to home market.

Research on the Impact of Business Environment Optimization in Guangdong Province on Corporate ESG Performance

This study examines the relationship between the policy environment in Guangdong Province and corporate ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) performance, offering references for government policy-making, suggestions for business strategies aligned with sustainable development trends, and new perspectives for investors to assess corporate social responsibility. Overall, the optimization of the business environment in Guangdong Province has positively influenced corporate governance, enhanced management levels, and laid a solid foundation for long-term corporate development. In the future, companies should continue to adapt to changes in the business environment, improve their governance structures, and achieve sustainable development.

Unraveling effective modified atmosphere conditions to improve the quality of refrigerated stored dark and white muscle fish

Although MAP in fish under refrigerated storage has been investigated since 1980, there is a knowledge gap about ideal concentration gases to improve the quality of dark- or medium/high-fat muscle fish (DM) and white- or lean/low-fat muscle fish (WM). As it is essential to industrial application, this study aimed to find promising MAP conditions to maximize fresh WM and DM quality throughout refrigerated storage based on bacteriological shelf life, physicochemical, and sensory parameters. Research articles were retrieved from Science Direct, PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus without establishing a research period (n = 3840), and 148 were included in this systematic and meta-analytic review. Identifying an effective MAP treatment was impossible for WM, considering all physicochemical parameters evaluated in this study. However, promising MAP ranges for further optimization were found for WM (60–75% CO2/25–40% N2 and 40–80% CO2/10–30% N2/10–30% O2), which increased shelf life by 2–12 days, reduced lipid oxidation (LOX) by 1.50–3.00 mg malonaldehyde (MDA)/kg, maintained color (∆E difference < 1), and sensory quality. For DM, the best treatment was 60% CO2/40% N2 since it increased bacteriological and sensory shelf life by 10–11 days, reduced LOX by 2 mg MDA/kg and biogenic amines by 6.50–172.60 mg/kg, and retained color and hardness quality close to fresh fish. Nevertheless, studies should evaluate gas mixtures from 40 to 100% CO2 to 0–60% N2 (without O2) to optimize our findings further. Therefore, MAP is a fresh-keeping preservation alternative to meet the current trend for sustainable development of the fish production chain.

It delves into how viral social media trends influence marine tourism destinations, particularly the North Sea, affecting local economies, marine resource management and tourism strategies. By analyzing this trend, the paper seeks to uncover how marine tourism destinations can effectively respond to the challenges and opportunities presented by digital media-driven tourism.Design/methodology/approachEmploying a multidisciplinary framework that merges insights from digital marketing, risk perception in tourism and human resource management, this paper provides a comprehensive qualitative analysis of the “North Sea TikTok” trend. Through a meticulous content analysis of viral videos and an examination of user engagement metrics, alongside a thorough review of contemporary literature in marine tourism and sustainability, the study unpacks the far-reaching implications of social media on marine tourism ecosystems.FindingsThe analysis reveals that the “North Sea TikTok” trend has markedly altered public perceptions of the North Sea, catalyzing a shift toward adventure and risk-taking tourism. This pivot promises economic rejuvenation for local tourism sectors and necessitates agile marine management strategies to accommodate the evolving demands. Implementing innovative employee training programs focusing on safety protocols, environmental conservation and digital engagement is central to managing these dynamics. The paper emphasizes integrating sustainable practices to ensure the equitable growth of marine tourism economies and environmental preservation.Originality/valueThis paper pioneers exploring the nexus between social media trends and their operational and strategic impacts on marine tourism management and economics. The Development and Application of Biodegradable Plastics in Food Packaging

Food packaging plays a crucial role in maintaining food quality and facilitating the circulation of goods. However, the environmental pollution caused by traditional packaging materials, including plastics, paper, and metals, has garnered global attention. In response to this challenge, governments worldwide have begun to implement a series of environmental policies to encourage the development and adoption of eco-friendly alternatives, particularly biodegradable plastics. These materials can be decomposed by microorganisms in nature, significantly reducing the environmental burden. This paper delves into the current applications, development dynamics, and specific case studies and performance advantages of biodegradable plastics in the food packaging industry. Additionally, it looks toward the future, providing a forward-looking analysis of technological advancements and market trends, aiming to offer a strong reference and impetus for the widespread application and sustainable development trend of biodegradable plastics in food packaging.

Development and Characteristics of Protein Edible Film Derived from Pork Gelatin and Beef Broth.

The aim of this work was to develop edible films derived from gelatin and beef broth and to analyze the physical properties of the output products. The presented research is important from the point of view of searching for food packaging solutions that may replace traditionally used plastic packaging. This study's conceptual framework is in line with the trend of sustainable development and zero waste. This study was conducted to develop a recipe for edible films derived from beef gelatin with gelatin concentrations at 4%, 8%, and 12% enriched with additions of beef broth in amounts of 25, 50, 75, and 100%. Selected physical properties of the output edible films were examined in terms of thickness, swelling in water, opacity, water content, water solubility, structure, and mechanical properties. The conducted research made it plausible to conclude that the addition of broth has a positive effect on the extensibility of the edible films and the other physical properties under consideration, especially on decreasing the film thickness, which was found to vary between 50.2 and 191.6 µm. When gelatin and broth were added at low concentrations, the tensile strength of the films increased, and subsequently decreased; however, an opposite effect was observed for elongation at break. The increased broth concentration caused the film opacity to increase from 0.39 to 4.54 A/mm and from 0.18 to 1.04 A/mm with gelatin concentrations of 4% and 12%, respectively. The water solubility of the gelatin films decreased as a result of the broth addition. However, it was noticed that increasing the content of broth caused the water solubility to increase in the tested films. The mere presence of broth in the gelatin films changed the microstructure of the films and also made them thinner.

SOCIAL ASPECTS OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF REGIONS OF KAZAKHSTAN

In the modern world, the development of the economy of any country is closely linked to the sustainable development of regions. Social processes play a crucial role in the sustainable development of a region. Much attention is paid to these processes in scientific works on economics, politics, sociology and interdisciplinary studies. We have touched upon the economic aspects of social development of regions. When writing the article such methods of scientific cognition as system approach, comparative and statistical analysis were used. The data on average monthly wages were used. Taking into account the presence of other sources of income, we also analysed the data on nominal cash incomes of the population by regions. In the analysis we used average per capita indicators to adjust for differences in the population size of the regions. The comparison was carried out using the unevenness index. The calculations revealed that the unevenness of both indicators is growing, which does not correspond to the current trends of sustainable development. The importance of the problem of sustainable development of regions in terms of social development is obvious, so we believe that the results of the research conducted in this article can be used for further scientific developments. Устойчивое развитие России и регионов в условиях пандемии

The pandemic has created additional risks for achieving the socio-economic and environmental goals of sustainable development, has largely transformed consumer behavior and created prerequisites for an environmental agenda revision. The purpose of the study is to identify trends in sustainable development during the pandemic, to identify the features of their manifestation in Russian regions, as well as to justify the need for further stimulation of responsible consumption and production practices based on the environmental innovations’ potential. The objectives of the article include the research of sustainable development trends in the world and Russia during the pandemic, identification of risks to achieving socio-economic and environmental goals, disclosure of the sustainable development specifics in Russian regions during the pandemic, and the formation of recommendations aimed at achieving the goals of Russian regions’ sustainable development. It is determined that the pandemic period is characterized by a slowdown in economic growth and an increase of social and environmental tension, which creates risks for achieving sustainable development goals. Such trends are global in nature, and affect the Russian regions. The authors consider the vectors of consumer behavior patterns and organizations’ activities transformation during the pandemic, identify the key tasks for ensuring the Russian regions’ sustainable development at the stage of post-crisis recovery.

Sustainability evaluation of urban large-scale infrastructure construction based on dynamic fuzzy cognitive map

Enhancing the sustainability of large-scale infrastructure construction is the foundation and trend of urban sustainable development and environmental protection. This paper proposes a perception and evaluation method based on Dynamic Fuzzy Cognitive Mapping (D-FCM) to address the dynamics, uncertainties, and implementation difficulties of sustainability evaluation in large-scale infrastructure construction. Using Hebbian rules to learn the experience and knowledge of experts, a dynamic evolution correlation matrix about evaluation indicators is obtained, and a D-FCM dynamic system model is established to obtain the sustainability evaluation results of large-scale infrastructure construction. The comprehensive sustainable evaluation value (K) of the selected subway project case is 0.934, which belongs to the V level in the sustainable level classification standard and has a good trend in sustainable development. Social public participation (S1), light pollution prevention (H1), wastewater discharge compliance rate (H2), soil pollution prevention (H3), and soil and water conservation and utilization (Z2) are the most significant and sensitive indicators for the sustainable development of large-scale infrastructure construction. Based on the interaction of influencing factors in the D-FCM model, an economically efficient control measures and decision-making plan can be proposed to improve the sustainability of large-scale infrastructure construction projects.

The impact of digital infrastructure on industrial ecology: Evidence from broadband China strategy

The coordination of economic development and ecological conservation has emerged as a global trend for sustainable development. This paper utilizes the "Broadband China" policy as a quasi-natural experiment, employing panel data from 279 prefecture-level cities spanning from 2006 to 2019. By constructing a spatial difference-in-differences (SDID) model, it examines the impact of digital infrastructure (DI) on industrial ecology (IE). The study finds that DI enhances both local and neighboring IE, with a spatial attenuation boundary of 600 km for IE impacts on neighboring cities. DI primarily facilitates the transformation of IE by promoting green technology innovation and expediting factor mobility. Heterogeneity analysis conducted using a spatial difference-in-difference-in-differences (SDDD) model reveals that DI has a greater impact on IE in resource-based cities, highly marketized regions, small-scale cities, and eastern regions. This research provides a novel perspective for exploring the transformation of IE theoretically and offers practical insights for leveraging digitization to promote IE.

With the trend of sustainable development in business and the awareness of environmental protection of customers, businesses are forced to apply environmentally friendly business models.The study examines the impact of adaptive culture and green innovation on green performance through employee commitment. The study adopted the Structural Equation Model (SEM) to test the fit of the model and the research hypotheses with the analytical data collected from 198 employees of enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City. The results showed that there is a positive impact of adaptive culture on green innovation. Besides, the research also proved that green innovation has a positive impact on green performance. In addition, the study also discovered the mediating role of employee commitment in the relationship between green innovation and green performance. Based on the findings, some implications are proposed to help managers to enhance adaptive culture, green innovation and employee commitment, thereby improving green performance.

In order to explore the low carbon economic background of green accounting information disclosure, understand the industry how to adapt to the sustainable development and environmental trends, the article from the overview of the low carbon economy, analyzes the low carbon economy of home appliance enterprise green accounting information disclosure requirements, after according to the current home appliance enterprise green accounting information disclosure problems put forward the specific solutions, including encouraging home appliance enterprise voluntary disclosure of social responsibility information, improve the home appliance enterprise green accounting information disclosure constraint system, improve the home appliance enterprise green accounting information disclosure content, etc. Research shows that the green accounting information disclosure in the home appliance industry plays a key role in the era of low-carbon economy, and helps to improve the sustainability, transparency and credibility of enterprises. However, there are still some challenges, in order to achieve a greener and more sustainable economic development, home appliance enterprises need to further improve their green accounting information disclosure practices to meet the growing demand for environmental protection.

Creative solution concept for urban structure sustainability development (for example: architecture and planning structure of Iranian small cities)

Special urgency for small cities in Iran represents developing problem guiding principles of transformation and development of architectural and planning structure, as well as applied technique of its evaluation in accordance with the requirements of sustainable development. This article describes leading forms of urban development settlements and identifies common principles which influence on sustainable urban development.&#x0D; The objective of this article is to assert sustainable development theories which meets city planning structure and develop a sustainability concept for Iranian small cities. This will be done through studies that were influenced by addressing a rethinking in order to emphasize adapting new trend of sustainable development which focused on city planning structure, and suitable for Iranian small cities condition. Thus, the main tasks of study could be formulated as follows: define Iranian small cities planning structure features and problems; study recent sustainability documents and related urban development forms and principles; comparative analysis; and finally suggest a creative solution for architectural and planning structure for Iranian small cities condition.&#x0D; The research used the method of analysis of latest international scientific literature and documents related to urban development sustainability in order to evaluate, compare and achieve a proper solution for Iranian small cities structures sustainability. It should be noted that such kind of analysis would be done only after analyzing and identifying the features and problems of the planning structure of Iranian small cities.&#x0D; Results of study: The article reveals recent sustainable urban development forms and its interpretations in modern urban development theories; demonstrates Iranian cities structure features; Iranian cities general plans problems; urban forms and design principles for achieving the goals of sustainable urban development for conditions of Iran.&#x0D; The scientific novelty of research is to study recent urban sustainable development forms and principles which related to urban structures; and suggest an appropriate and suitable concept for Iranian small cities development sustainability.

The Influence of Fiscal, Monetary, and Public Policies on Sustainable Development in Sri Lanka

This study aims to determine the influence of the fiscal, monetary, and public policy environment in Sri Lanka and its impact on sustainable development before and after COVID-19. This study used the document analysis qualitative research method to obtain and analyse fiscal, monetary, and public policy data. It assigned and measured the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) values and trends. The goals were clustered into social, environmental, and sustainability-related intellectual capital to measure their dimensional capital status values and trends. Despite the economic crisis, Sri Lanka has moderately progressed in sustainable development, with most improvements in social capital. The environmental and sustainability-related intellectual capital dimensions follow. The 17 SDGs were advancing at various levels. Two were on track (Goal 4: Quality education and Goal 9: Industry, innovation, and infrastructure). Five moderately improved goals (Goal 2: Zero hunger, Goal 3: Good health and well-being, Goal 6: Clean water and sanitation, Goal 12: Responsible consumption and production, and Goal 13: Climate action). Seven were stagnant (Goal 5: Gender equality, Goal 7: Affordable clean energy, Goal 8: Decent work and economic growth, Goal 11: Sustainable cities and communities, Goal 14: Life below water, Goal 16: Peace, justice, and strong institutions, and Goal 17: Partnership for the goals). Two showed a decrease (Goal 1: Poverty and Goal 15: Life on land). No data are reported for Goal 10 (Reduce inequalities). Fiscal and monetary policies were overly focussed on economic repair and reconstruction. Public policy has nevertheless contributed to sustainable development. This is the first study to examine the multidimensional policy environment and its impact on sustainable development in Sri Lanka.

Exploring the research trends in climate change and sustainable development: A bibliometric study

Climate change and sustainable development are interconnected and pressing global challenges requiring urgent attention. Researching the trends in climate change and sustainable development through a bibliometric study is essential for addressing urgent global challenges, identifying gaps in knowledge, informing policy decisions, and promoting collaboration within the academic and research community. This study aims to conduct a bibliometric analysis to investigate the research trends, collaboration network, and thematic evaluation of publications on climate change and sustainable development. 1696 papers from 1992 to 2022 were selected using the PRISMA framework from the Scopus database. We employ Bibliometric R and VOSviewer software to conduct bibliometric analysis. The study found that literature and citations on climate change and sustainable development have grown significantly. The Chinese Academy of Sciences leads in productivity, while the USA, China, and India are the most productive countries. Surprisingly, 44 papers received over 100 citations, while 50% received less than five. Trending topics include COVID-19, urbanisation, attitude, climate change mitigation and adaptation, etc. The evaluation of research themes reveals a shift towards climate change to mitigation, adaptation, and sustainable development goals. The findings serve as a valuable resource for researchers, policymakers, and practitioners, facilitating a deeper understanding of the evolving knowledge of change and sustainable development research and identifying emerging research areas. The shift from a general emphasis on climate change to more specialised themes underscores the necessity for focused examinations within distinct domains, including but not limited to climate change adaptation, mitigation, and the pursuit of sustainable development goals.

Emotional intelligence as the production basis of management personnel

Currently, the economic system as the basis for managing economic structures is developing a socioeconomic vector that determines the dominant role of a person in all business processes. The socioeconomic system emphasizes the position of a person as an agent performing any labor functions in production processes, where his professional skills are an integral part of his emotional background, his economic culture. Obviously, the aspect of understanding the level of influence of emotional intelligence on sustainable development trends as a leading vector is important. The article confirms the obvious role of emotional intelligence in the processes of production and reproduction in economic systems, where the formation of human and intellectual capital becomes a key determinant topic. The work also uses private indicators reflecting the qualitative level of emotional intelligence, a methodology for quantifying indicators of qualitative assessment of the level of emotional intelligence of management personnel is proposed.

Sustainable Supply Chain Development and Risk Management: Case Study of Huawei’s Strategies During the Epidemic

This study examines the general trend of sustainable development for modern businesses, focusing on the four development strategies adopted by Huawei during the epidemic: digital inclusion, security and trustworthiness, greenness, and harmonious ecology. This study explores the risk to corporate sustainability and how supply chain risks can be effectively managed. Through a case study of Huawei’s three-year sustainability report and related data, it offers practical advice that will be valuable to other companies. The study calls on companies to develop sustainable supply chains while paying attention to social responsibility, incorporating environmental protection concepts, actively adopting digital communication technologies to cope with unknown risks, and enhancing their image to achieve long-term stable development. In the face of increasing global carbon emissions and sustainable development challenges, enterprises should strengthen their risk response capabilities, comprehensively consider the impacts of their supply chains, and practice the concept of sustainable development.

The concept of regional sectoral development in modern trends of sustainability and digitalization

The article examines the main provisions of the concept of regional sectoral development in modern trends of sustainable development and digitalization, which is aimed at ensuring the competitiveness of a specific territory, self-sufficiency of specific sectors of the economy. Undoubtedly, the vectors of the digital economy and sustainable development have a direct impact on technological and innovative processes, as well as the need to transition to a new technological order in each region of Russia. The region, being a territorial natural and social complex, concentrates natural, social and economic resources. The development of regional industries takes place in the system of subject-object relations based on the theory and methodology of economic science.
