Metal contact and carrier transport in single crystalline CH3NH3PbBr3 perovskite

Organic-inorganic perovskites have arrived at the forefront of solar technology due to their impressive carrier lifetimes and superior optoelectronic properties. By having the cm-sized perovskite single crystal and employing device patterning techniques, and the transfer length method (TLM), we are able to get the insight into the metal contact and carrier transport behaviors, which is necessary for maximizing device performance and efficiency. In addition to the metal work function, we found that the image force and interface charge pinning effects also affect the metal contact, and the studied single crystal CH3NH3PbBr3 features Schottky barriers of 0.17 eV, 0.38 eV, and 0.47 eV for Au, Pt, and Ti electrodes, respectively. Furthermore, the surface charges lead to the thermally activated transport from 207 K to 300 K near the perovskite surface. In contrast, from 120 K to 207 K, the material exhibited three-dimensional (3D) variable range hopping (VRH) carrier transport behavior. Understanding these fundamental contact and transport properties of perovskite will enable future electronic and optoelectronic applications.

Semimetallic transport properties of epitaxially stabilized perovskite CaIrO3 films

We report on the synthesis and transport properties of perovskite (Pv) CaIrO3 thin films. The Pv phase of CaIrO3 was stabilized by epitaxial growth on SrTiO3, (LaAlO3)0.3(Sr2AlTaO6)0.7, and LaAlO3 substrates with strong tensile, weak tensile, and compressive strains, respectively. The resistivity of these films showed a poorly metallic behavior. The Hall resistivity exhibited a sign change as a function of temperature and a nonlinear magnetic-field dependence, which clearly indicated the coexistence of electrons and holes and hence supported that Pv CaIrO3 films are semimetallic. The observed robustness of the semimetallic ground state against tensile and compressive strains is consistent with the presence of symmetry-protected Dirac points (nodes) around the Fermi level that prohibits the system from becoming a band insulator.

EFFECT OF MEAN ION SIZE AND SPATIAL SPIN DISORDERS FOR (La1-xYx)2/3Ca1/3MnO3 MANGANITES

The structure and transport properties of perovskite ( La 1-x Y x)2/3 Ca 1/3 MnO 3 (0≤x≤0.3) systems are systematically investigated. It is found that all the specimens show a single-phase structure and reveal a direct relationship between the Curie temperature Tc and the average ionic radius <rA> of La site. With increasing Y 3+ doped content, the metal-insulator transition temperature T MI (M-I) shifts to lower temperature. While the relevant resistivity peak ρp is sharp increased, for the specimens with large doping content, x=0.3, it has enhanced eight orders of magnitudes larger than the non-doped samples (x=0.0). At high concentration area, that is to say, when x>0.1, magnetic studies show a gradual increase of antiferromagnetic interaction with an increase of x, ultimately leading to a spatial-spin disorders, that is, spin-glass-like state for x=0.2 and x=0.3 compounds at about 35 K. The results show that it has connected a reduction of Tc and an increase in magnetoresistance with a decrease in the microstructural Mn - O - Mn bond angle.

Studies on the structure and transport properties for Y-doped La2/3Ca1/3MnO3 perovsksite manganate

The structure and transport properties of perovskite (La1-xYx)2/3Ca1/3 MnO3 (0≤x≤0.3) systems are systematically investigated. It is found that all the compounds show a single phase structure. With the increase of Y3+ doping content the metalinsulator transition temperature TMI(M—I) shifts to lower temperatures. While the relevant resistance peak ρp is sharply increased, for the sample of x=0.3, it has been enhanced by eight orders of magnitude larger than the non-doped sample(x=0.0). In these materials a large magnetoresistance effect has been observed under an external magnetic field. At the same time, it is also directly shown that the correlation between the transport properties and the variation of crystal structure from the experiment result. Based on the double exchange model and the variable-range-hopping(VRH) theory, the mechanism of the influence of Y doping for La in La2/3Ca1/3MnO3 systems is also discussed.
