Training in hypnosis, like training in any other clinical discipline, must be conducted in a medical school or teaching hospital if it is to be adequate for medical purposes. It should be patient-centered rather than hypnosis-centered. It should be provided by the department of psychiatry in collaboration with those other departments of the medical school or teaching hospital in which the physicianin-training is primarily interested. It should provide him with a well-rounded clinical experience in relation to his type of practice.
