This research aims to find out whether the use of puzzle stick media can improve students' critical thinking skills in PAI learning and how the use of puzzle stick media improves students' critical thinking skills in PAI learning. The use of stick puzzle media in improving students' critical thinking skills is through the pairing puzzle process.Problem solving is one of the aspects contained in the cognitive domain. Considering that young children are still in the learning stage of recognizing environmental conditions in their surroundings, including all existing problems, the learning activities provided refer to problem solving exercises. Does the Language-Based Professional Development Program ‘Talking with Children’ (TwC) Have Differential Effects on Children’s Language Skills?

ABSTRACT Research Findings: The effects of professional development (PD) on children’s language outcomes are inconsistent, including for the German PD program Talking with Children (TwC). Differentiating the effects of PD programs can help to understand the conditions under which children benefit from language education provided by educators. For this purpose, the present study examined the differential effects of the PD program on children’s receptive and expressive language skills with respect to individual and contextual characteristics (DLL status and proportion, individual and average group baseline language scores, contact time between trained educators and target children). An experimental pre-post study was conducted in which educators (N = 50) were randomly assigned to one of two PD programs (TwC and an alternative program). After one year of training, children were supported by the trained educators (N = 230) for one year. Effects on language development were assessed using standardized tests. Multilevel analyses showed that the extent to which children benefited from educators’ participation in TwC did not depend on contextual and individual characteristics. Practice or Policy: Our study emphasizes the importance of high-quality PD programs that focus on the adaptive use of strategies to support the language development of all children.

Helping Special Needs Children to Make Friends

Introduction: Children with special needs are often considered to be cursed. They are frequently ostracized from society thus making them feel lonely. This paper aims to help patients, especially children with special needs, find good friends through the review of current studies. Methods: This study used a descriptive quantitative method and data that was retrieved from Child and Adolescence Psychiatric Outpatients Daycare, Dr. Soetomo General Academic Hospital, Surabaya with 80 children with ADHD and 160 children with ASD. Results: A common intervention used in Indonesia is applied behavior analysis (ABA), a method that trains children to have social skills such as how to communicate, interact, and express themselves in social settings. Besides personal intervention, the need for integrated care for children with special needs such as pharmacological therapy, speech and behavioral therapy, occupational therapy, and special education, is needed to support them in helping them make friends. Conclusion: To help children with special needs make friends, we can give support, appreciation, and motivation. However, children with special needs need different treatment from their peers, so special attention and understanding are needed so that children with special needs can socialize and make friends well. The use of augmented reality in assessing and training children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a serious issue that must be addressed in the modern world. Treatment for ADHD is challenging because it is costly, has adverse effects, might not be successful, and is not considered an emergency. The reason that ADHD is hard to manage is because it causes people-especially children-to make impulsive decisions that hinder their ability to succeed in school, the workplace, and other areas of life. As an alternative approach, neurofeedback therapy or play therapy, which relies on real-time feedback of an individual's brainwave activity typically collected through electroencephalogram (EEG), has demonstrated promising outcomes in the treatment of mental disorders and enhancing cognitive capabilities. On the other hand, prolonged exposure to repetitive feedback might result in lower engagement since people may become disinterested in the process and find it difficult to continue participating. An extensive assessment on the use of augmented reality (AR) in the context of pediatric ADHD has been carried out, with an emphasis on the benefits of creating games specifically for kids with ADHD. By using AR technology in a group of children, the goal of this study was to investigate the basic characteristics of AR systems that aid in the identification and treatment of ADHD in children.

Nomogram Based on HRV for Predicting the Therapeutic Effects of Orthostatic Training in Children with Vasovagal Syncope

Background: This study intended to find out whether the parameters of heart rate variability (HRV) can predict the treatment efficacy of orthostatic training among pediatric cases of vasovagal syncope (VVS). Methods: Patients with VVS who underwent orthostatic training were retrospectively enrolled. Lasso and logistic regression were used to sift through variables and build the model, which is visualized using a nomogram. The model’s performance was evaluated through calibration plots, a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, and decision curve analysis (DCA) for both datasets. Results: In total, 119 participants were included in the analysis, and 73 and 46 were assigned to the training and validation datasets, respectively. Five factors with nonzero coefficients were chosen based on lasso regression: age, the root means square of successive differences between normal sinus beats (rMSSD), standard deviation of the averages normal-to-normal intervals in all 5-min segments, minimum heart rate, and high frequency. Drawing from the logistic regression analysis results, the visual predictive model incorporated two variables, namely age and rMSSD. For the training dataset, the sensitivity was 0.686 and the specificity was 0.868 with an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.81 (95% CI, 0.71–0.91) for the ROC curve. For the validation dataset, the AUC of the ROC was 0.80 (95% CI, 0.66–0.93), while sensitivity and specificity were recorded at 0.625 and 0.909, respectively. In the calibration plots for both datasets, the predicted probabilities correlated well with the actual probabilities. According to the DCA, the visual predictive model gained a significant net benefit across a wide threshold range. Conclusions: Pediatric patients with VVS can benefit from orthostatic training using a visual predictive model comprising age and rMSSD.

The effect of model-based android phone application supported clean intermittent catheterization training oncaregivers and children: A randomized controlled study.

RAMTAKE is effective in increasing the knowledge/skills and coping/adaptation level of caregivers who apply clean intermittent catheterization and decreased of urinary tract infections. ClinicalTrials.gov number: NCT04763382, date: February 2021. • Urinary tract infection is the most common complication that causes kidney damage in patients when CIC is not applied correctly by caregivers. •To prevent the development of urinary tract infection (ITU), caregivers must have sufficient knowledge/skills for CIC and be adapted to do CIC. • Our results show that model-based Android phone application-supported CIC training is more effective in increasing the knowledge/skill, coping/adaptation level of caregivers. • Our results show that model-based Android phone application-supported CIC education for caregivers reduces the risk of ITU in children.

The Role of Singing in Piano Teaching: Issues and Solutions

Background and Aim: For coordination and singing abilities, students should practice with children's books, connect sight and feel to piano pitches, use simple accompaniments, and receive feedback. This article explores the role of singing in piano teaching, discussing strategies for improvement, textbook selection, classroom fun, parent communication, sight singing, ear training, and enriching children's music lives. Methodology: This paper is a documentary study that combines descriptive content analysis with goals-oriented thinking. Results: The issues with pitch, coordination, song familiarity, and self-assurance. Solutions include helping students with basic vocalizations, focusing on correct breathing techniques, using children's piano books, and providing motivation and constructive criticism. Sustained instruction and practice can improve coordination and vocal capabilities. Pedagogical approaches should be refined, and tailored to students' age, gender, and individuality, and teachers should enhance their expertise and establish clear teaching objectives. Time allocation and textbook selection should be based on the course schedule, and novel pedagogical approaches like role exchange can enhance student engagement. Consistent communication with parents is crucial for children's piano skills development. Sight singing and ear training can develop children's ability to perceive and use music. Conclusion: The document review addresses issues with the role of singing in piano teaching, focusing on pitch, coordination, song familiarity, and self-assurance. Solutions include basic vocalizations, breathing techniques, using children's books, motivation, and teacher training.

Àgó: A Feminine Purification Rite in Ọ̀ .wo ̣̀ ,. Oǹdó State, South-West, Nigeria

In Yorùbá land, raising a child is the continuation of giving birth to the child; a large part of the child's early training is the mother's direct responsibility. Every woman wants her child to prosper to make the father and the entire family proud. A woman does anything she can to see that she achieves this role. This study, therefore, describes the performance of Àgó; a feminine purification rite in Ọ̀wọ̀ , Oǹdó State, South-West Nigeria to depict how Ọ̀wọ̀ women use the rite to save the lives of their children and make them prosper in life. The paper adopts womanist theory (the totality of feminine self-expression, self- retrieval and self-assertion in positive cultural ways) and sociology of literature (an attempt to understand the interrelationship between literature and society) for the work. Findings show that mothers who give birth to children with the same sex three consecutive times perform Àgó. The confinement given to mothers alone emanates from the societal notion that it has assigned that role to women. In this specific cultural setting, women seem to play a role in caring for their children's lives through the performance of the rite, in which, sometimes also the other parent is present. Furthermore, the Àgó rite appears as a collective event, in which the entire community is involved.

The purpose of writing this report is to provide information related to national education which aims to develop the potential of students to become human beings who have faith and devotion to God Almighty, have good morals, are noble, healthy, knowledgeable, capable, creative, independent and become democratic and responsible citizens. in order to educate the nation. To realize this goal is not easy, therefore efforts need to be made to empower the community and improve religion and character through literacy, children's arts training and holding outreach about live pharmacy plants in elementary schools. The writing of this scientific work was carried out based on the results of observations by conducting interviews and direct training in the form of an introduction to the location, implementation time, and activities to be carried out. From the results of observations, there were problems encountered, namely that the traditional art of dance and the socialization of living pharmacy practices had not been carried out well due to a lack of teaching staff. Based on this, the service team provides problem solving through a mentoring program for teaching traditional Balinese dances and socializing live pharmacy plants.

Fifteen years of training courses and implementation of child and adolescent psychiatry in Jimma, South-West Ethiopia: a single site case study

In Ethiopia, as in many other low-and middle-income countries, health professionals, particularly mental health workers, are scarce. The purpose of this case study is to describe the process of establishing training child psychiatry and capacity building to implement clinical care for child and adolescent mental health. We present a case study on training of child and adolescent psychiatry embedded within the master’s degree program in integrated clinical and community mental health at the department of psychiatry in Jimma University, Ethiopia. This program is jointly developed in collaboration between Jimma University and Ludwig-Maximilian-University, Germany. The core elements of the training were to train mental state description, making decisions on possible disorders, perform occupational activities, and design psychosocial interventions. The WHOmhGAP guide is considered as appropriate knowledgebase for our teaching program. Each course was evaluated bidirectional with multiple methods. From 2010 to 2024, twelve trainings were organized. We structured the program in three phases. The initial phase (2010–2014) was to establish collaboration with guest lecturers and to develop, implement, and evaluate the training. The second phase (2015–2019) changed to mentorship and transition from guest lecturers to local trainers and included a refresher course. Phase three (2020–2024) was independent work. An outpatient clinical service for children was implemented by the lead author and now is running at Jimma University. The implementation of the training took place in small steps. A long-term commitment of local and guest lecturers enabled to develop culturally appropriate solutions for the local context. A similar approach can be applied to effectively start and expand child and adolescent mental health care in other resource limited settings.

Transformation and development of simulation-based education and child first aid skills training

Background: Simulation-based medical education is a complex learning methodology in different fields. Exposing children to this teaching method is uncommon as it is designed for adult learning. This study aimed to develop and implement simulation-based education in first aid training of children and investigate the emotions of children in post-simulation scenarios that replicate emergency situations. Methods: This was a phenomenological qualitative research study. The participants attended the modified “Little Doctor” course that aims to train children in first aid and, subsequently, completed simulation scenarios. The children attended focus groups and were asked about their experiences of the course and how they felt during the simulation scenarios. Results: 12 children (Age 8–11 years old) attended the course, and 10 completed the simulation scenarios and focus groups. The major theme derived from was the simulation experience’s effect, which was divided into two subthemes: the emotion caused by—and the behavioral response to—the simulation. The analysis revealed shock and surprise toward the environment of the simulation event and the victim. The behaviors expressed during the simulation scenarios ranged from skill application and empathy to recall and teamwork. Conclusions: Simulation scenarios were successfully implemented during the first-aid training course. Although participants reported mixed feelings regarding the experience, they expressed confidence in their ability to perform real-life skills.

PENERAPAN MEDIA PAPAN HITUNG (PAHIT) DALAM PEMBELAJARAN MATEMATIKA PERMULAAN KELAS 2 DI SDN 22 AMPENAN

Teaching aids are objects that are used to assist in the process of conveying information, demonstrations, learning tools, or demonstrations of a particular concept or concepts. In this article the author will explain one of the teaching aids, namely, the Calculation Board. A counting board or PAHIT is a teaching aid used to calculate repeated multiplication, division, addition and subtraction materials. Using this counting board can train children to think quickly and more easily understand the concepts of multiplication and division. At the concrete operational age (7-11 years), elementary school age children generally have difficulty understanding abstract mathematics. Therefore, learning media is needed that can provide solutions to increase students' interest in learning. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods through observation, interviews and documentation. This writing aims to develop calculating board learning media as a medium that can help students' understanding of starting calculations in mathematics subjects. Through this multiplication board media, it is hoped that class II students will be able to think actively in understanding the concepts of multiplication and division so that students can improve their mathematics learning outcomes.Key Word : arithmetic concept, counting board media, mathematics.

Educação para uma Cidadania Democrática: da formação inicial de professores às práticas de sala de aula em Portugal

Teacher training, at Escola Superior de Educação de Lisboa, has since 2020 included a curricular unit in the master's degree in Teaching in the 1st cycle and Portuguese and History and Geography of Portugal in the 2nd cycle, which aims to develop Competences for Democratic Culture (CDC). Taking as a reference the 20 CDC (Council of Europe, 2017), the training component in the field of Didactics of ​​Social Sciences (DSS) was reformulated, introducing changes in the curricular unit Society, Culture and Territory. These changes have produced visible results in supervised teaching practices (6-12 years old). This article focuses on critical reflection on the teaching and learning strategies experienced in initial training, within the scope of DSS, mobilized in the practices with students aged 6 to 12. The objectives are: (1) to recognize the effects of the strategies implemented in initial training in the field of CDC; (2) analyse the skills developed by elementary school students and reflect on the practices for the development of these skills; (3) analyse the CDC valued in students' practices and the results of their pedagogical-didactic projects. Methodologically, a documentary analysis is carried out that frames the CCD in initial teacher training and a content analysis of the twelve final master's reports (2021 to 2023), which focus on a pedagogical-didactic intervention and research on development of CDC (strategies, activities and evaluation indicators). The first result points to the recognition of the role of DSS in initial training within the scope of CDC: through content and training methodologies, SS facilitate practices aimed at building critical and democratic citizenship. Secondly, the impact of projects implemented in elementary school classes is highlighted, with the purpose of promoting CDC: evidence of the relevance in guiding future teaching practice towards training children and young people to read, interpret critically and intervene in the social reality in which they are inserted.

Pemberdayaan Siswa SD Tentang Keterampilan Cuci Tangan di Purbowangi Buayan Kebumen

Introduction: Efforts to change health behavior to support an increase in levels are carried out through a Clean and Healthy Living Behavior development program, one of which is washing hands. The low level of parental behavior in training children to wash their hands with soap before and after eating is the reason why it is important to wash their hands. Objective: The purpose of this service was to empower students to improve hand washing skills for students at Elementary School 4 Purbowangi Kebumen. Method: This public service was conducted by providing counseling using the correct hand washing demonstration method to 94 students, the activity steps include: the staff observes the hand washing skills of students before being given treatment (pretest), then provides counseling using a demonstration method about hand washing. The next step is for the service to observe the hand washing skills of students after being given treatment (posttest). Result: The results of this community service activity showed that the majority of participants were male, 51 students (54.3%), 33 (35.1%) aged at most 10 years. Hand washing skills before and after being given the intervention improved. This is evident from the results of the average hand washing skill before the demonstration was 41.0904 (poor) and the average hand washing skill after the demonstration was 96.2234 (very good). Conclusion: Activities to empower elementary school students regarding hand washing skills went smoothly and was able to improve the skills of all students in washing their hands.

The implications of educational games on the development of children's intellectual abilities

Educational games have emerged as powerful tools in contemporary pedagogy, leveraging interactive and engaging platforms to enhance children's intellectual abilities. This research explores the multifaceted implications of educational games on cognitive development focusing on critical thinking, problem-solving skills and knowledge retention among children. This study used a mixed-data collection strategy. The goal of this research was to determine the impact of developed educational game technology on improving children's intellectual abilities. The study included 43 participants. According to the study, children have an average level of intellectual development. In this regard, training preschool-aged children required modifications to the content, procedural and personal aspects of learning for children using educational game technology. The study's findings revealed that incorporating educational game technological advances into the process of training children improved their cognitive abilities. Teachers can improve their teaching strategies using the useful tools and materials provided by the study's findings on the usage of educational games to support children' intellectual development. This research underscores the importance of integrating educational games into curricula to maximize their intellectual benefits and prepare children for future academic and life challenges.

The Role of Teachers in Training the Independence of Children with Autism with Habituation Methods at Kindergarten Sinar Indonesia Bekasi (2024). Thesis. Jakarta: Panca Sakti College of Teacher Training and Education, Bekasi. 2024.This study aims to test the role of teachers in training the independence of children with autism in Kindergarten Sinar Indonesia Bekasi, using an instrument of independence development with the role of teachers in training the independence of children with autism and the use of habituation methods in stimulating the development of children's independence using the form of the Likert model attitude scale.The research method used is a descriptive research method with a qualitative approach. The subject of this research is an element of the Sinar Indonesia Bekasi Kindergarten institution which includes the Principal, Class Teacher, Accompanying Teacher and one Autism student. Data collection techniques use observation, interviews and documentation with a qualitative data analysis process through several activities, namely data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing/verification The results of the study show that the role of teachers as demonstrators, classroom managers and motivators can train the independence of children with autism in Sinar Indonesia Kindergarten. With the habituation method that is carried out repeatedly on children with autism and also collaboration between the principal, classroom teachers and also companions are all things that can train the independence of children with autism at school, in addition to the process of preparation, implementation and evaluation is a consideration to determine whether the child with autism can be independent or not in his daily life at school.The results of this study provide importance for the development of education, especially related to the role of teachers in training children with autism.

Robot-assisted Laparoscopic Ureteral Reimplantation in Pre-toilet Trained Children With Vesicoureteral Reflux

ObjectivesTo evaluate the outcomes of pre-toilet trained children undergoing RALUR for the treatment of primary VUR at our institution and compare these to an older cohort. Materials and MethodsThis retrospective study analyzed data from a single institution's registry, comparing outcomes between pre-toilet trained and toilet trained children who underwent RALUR for primary VUR. Preoperative parameters, surgical details, and postoperative outcomes were evaluated. ResultsThe study included 158 patients, with 24 in the pre-toilet trained group and 134 in the toilet trained group. Both cohorts exhibited similar demographics and preoperative characteristics. Operative times, complication rates, and surgical outcomes were comparable between the groups, despite the pre-toilet trained group presenting with more severe VUR grades. Incidence of febrile UTI after surgery and need for further intervention did not significantly differ between the cohorts. ConclusionThe current study demonstrates the feasibility, success, and safety of RALUR in pre-toilet trained compared to toilet-trained children and thus support the stance that it is a viable alternative to open surgery.

High variability phonetic training facilitates perception-to-production transfer in Mandarin-speaking children with cochlear implants: An acoustic investigation.

This study primarily aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of high variability phonetic training (HVPT) for children with cochlear implants (CIs) via the cross-modal transfer of perceptual learning to lexical tone production, a scope that has been largely neglected by previous training research. Sixteen CI participants received a five-session HVPT within a period of three weeks, whereas another 16 CI children were recruited without receiving any formal training. Lexical tone production was assessed with a picture naming task before the provision (pretest) and immediately after (posttest) and ten weeks after (follow-up test) the completion of the training protocol. The production samples were coded and analyzed acoustically. Despite considerable distinctions from the typical baselines of normal-hearing peers, the trained CI children exhibited significant improvements in Mandarin tone production from pretest to posttest in pitch height of T1, pitch slope of T2, and pitch curvature of T3. Moreover, the training-induced acoustic changes in the concave characteristic of the T3 contour was retained ten weeks after training termination. This study represents an initial acoustic investigation on HVPT-induced benefits in lexical tone production for the pediatric CI population, which provides valuable insights into applying this perceptual training technique as a viable tool in clinical practices.

Importance of senso-perceptive skills in children of primal school age

The purpose of this review is to find out the importance other researchers have given to the study of senso-perceptive awareness, as well as the pathways of improvement in lower school-age children. We should use mobility activities to increase the development of coordination and balance in children. Methodology: For this literature review used database as; PubMed, Google Scholar, Web Science and Science Direct. With the help of keywords which include the phrases "senso-perceptive skills", "senso-perceptive skills training", "kinesthetic control", "visual coordination", "proprioception" and other combinations. Results: defining the age of 6-10 generates 154,000 items. The restriction on articles published in the last 10 years generated 16,800 articles. The increased use of keywords channels the search into 330 articles of which 40 were selected as the most relevant articles to our topic. Conclusions: This study of literature aims to illustrate that better developmental support for children can be achieved through exercise and of course a particular importance of senso-perceptive abilities. Another very important point is the definition and design of a manual, with the aim of incorporating into the teaching curriculum. People involved in the education and care of preschoolers should train children's awareness and responsibility for their bodies.
