An analysis method: Artistic value inheritance of Silk Road Flower Rain

This paper investigates development of Dunhuang music and dance drama Silk Road Flower Rain, highlighting its significance in promoting Dunhuang culture. It examines the artistic innovation and cultural connotations that influence the artistic value of the work. Through quantitative methods such as surveys and respondents evaluations, the study assesses various indicators of artistic value, including music composition, artistic innovation, emotional expression, and cultural depth. The findings reveal that the overall artistic value scores of Silk Road Flower Rain is 3.407 out of 5, indicating a high level of artistic quality. Key factors affecting this value include music composition, artistic innovation, and cultural connotation. The study emphasizes the importance of balancing traditional artistic characteristics with modern innovations to enhance the work's appeal to contemporary audiences. In conclusion, Silk Road Flower Rain serves as a significant cultural emblem of Chinese music and dance, contributing to international cultural exchanges and enhancing the global influence of Chinese arts. The research provides insights into the preservation and development of Dunhuang performing arts, emphasizing the need for continuous innovation while respecting traditional roots.

Christian Ceremonial Folk Song. Case Study: Pilgrimage Songs From Nicula Monastery

In the complex landscape of contemporary Romanian religious music, the last decades have been marked by a phenomenon of crystallization and diffusion of a new musical genre, with deep roots in the popular music tradition. This genre, defined by specific structural, thematic and functional characteristics, has succeeded in imposing itself within the Koinonikon liturgical ritual, in some cases replacing the traditional musical repertoire of the period. Initially, Christian ceremonial folk songs were associated with certain liturgical feasts dedicated to the Virgin Mary, fulfilling an occasional function of marking important moments in the church calendar. Through oral transmission and adaptation to the religious context, these songs entered the collective consciousness and became an integral part of the religious practices of rural communities during pilgrimages. Over time, under the influence of socio-cultural and religious factors, Christian ceremonial folk songs underwent a revalorization and an expansion of their original functions. They have thus gone beyond the strict liturgical ritual of pilgrimages and have been integrated into various forms of cultural and religious expression, such as folksong festivals or religious events: camps, competitions. An emblematic case in this respect are the pilgrimage songs, especially those associated with the Nicula Monastery. These songs, originally intended to accompany pilgrimages to the monastery, have spread nationwide, becoming a symbol of Romanian religious and cultural identity for the musical genre of Christian ceremonial folk songs.

Tandem Acylation and Aromatization of Vinylogous Esters: A Regiospecific Approach to Resorcinyl Ketones.

This study demonstrates the direct conversion of vinylogous esters into selectively protected 6-acyl resorcinols (4-alkoxy/aryloxy-2-hydroxy arylketones) in a regiospecific manner. Resorcinyl ketones are first-time synthesized, diverging from their traditional roots, originating from non-benzenoid pool materials. Converting cyclohexenones into phenol- or resorcinol-based arylketones remains challenging due to the stability and reactivity issues of intermediate products. Addressing this critical gap, we introduce a novel strategy: sequential one-pot acylation and oxidative aromatization of vinylogous esters. This innovative approach aims to surmount the long-standing barrier, facilitating the synthesis of diverse resorcinyl ketones. Furthermore, this method proves valuable for the synthesis of functionalized diaryl ethers and in the total synthesis of bioactive natural products and drug molecules such as angolensin, isoliquiritigenin, demethylsorbicillin, ponganone VII, and ipriflavone. It is also useful for modifying bioactive acids and alcohols by introducing a resorcinol functionality in the late stage of synthesis. Synthetic analogues of oxybenzone demonstrated superior ultraviolet (UV) absorption properties, effectively covering the entire UV-A and UV-B regions, spanning from 230 to 410 nm.

Climate change, variability, and adaptation in Ethiopia. An analysis from the farmers' perception

Given that the climate has changed historically and will likely change again in the future, it is necessary to comprehend how farmers view climatic variability and change as well as how they will adapt going forward. To lessen the problems related to climate change and variability in Ethiopia, this review paper sought to evaluate and examine farmers' perceptions of these issues, as well as their effects on farming livelihoods. This review study states that although few studies have examined this subject locally, climate change and variability have a substantial impact on agricultural production, livelihood of smallholder farmers, biodiversity loss, and environmental degradation, particu-larly in low-income countries where agriculture is heavily dependent on rainfall. A wide range of psychological concepts, including knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, and concerns about whether and how the climate is changing, are all part of the complex process of experiencing climate change. Thus, to lessen the issue of climate change and variability in Ethiopia, a variety of site-specific adaptation strategies that incorporate modern science and traditional roots are needed.

This article discusses late Viking Age mortuary practices in the town of Sigtuna during the early urban phase (c. 980–1100 AD) with focus on the so-called graveyards (Sw. gravgårdar): cemeteries where the dead were inhumed mainly in accordance with Christian customs, but that lacked churches. It aims to trace cultural, social, or religious communities among the early town dwellers based on an analysis of their burial rituals, in combination with results of osteological and bioarcheological studies of their physical remains. The paper shows that burial customs varied within the early townscape: the dead were laid to rest under visible grave constructions in exposed topographical locations, as well as on flat-ground cemeteries in lower terrain close to the settlement area or at early churchyards. Moreover, diversity in mortuary customs, sex and age distribution, gender division, and diet can be detected between individual cemeteries, indicating that they were used by different urban groups that to some extent parted from their dead in different ways. The results of bioarcheological analyses indicate a heterogenous early urban population, comprising people from the Mälaren area, and also from distant regions. The burial customs reflect this specific urban situation, bearing witness to both long-distance contacts and roots in local mortuary traditions.

Community-based Islamic education: Democratizing learning through local wisdom

This study examines the role of community-based education in the context of Islam as a means of democratizing education and integrating local wisdom, motivated by the need for a more inclusive and responsive education system. Using a literature study method, this research analyzes primary and secondary sources related to Islamic education, democratization, and local wisdom. The results reveal that community-based education has strong historical and normative roots in Islamic tradition, reflected in various forms of traditional educational institutions such as mosques, kuttabs, and pesantrens. This educational model is proven to encourage active community participation, decentralization of decision-making, and integration of local values into the curriculum. However, its implementation faces challenges in balancing national standards with local autonomy, as well as potential conflicts between universal Islamic values and local cultural practices. This study highlights the complexity of integrating local wisdom into modern Islamic education in the era of globalization, paving the way for further research on optimal mechanisms for adapting this educational model to increasingly diverse Muslim societies.

Research of the calculation formula for working clearance leakage flow of the hydrogen circulation pump

The hydrogen circulation pump (HCP), a device for recovering unconsumed hydrogen gas in fuel cell systems to improve efficiency, is an important equipment in fuel cell systems. Efficient calculation of the output flow rate of the HCP is crucial for accelerating the product development process, but there is a lack of an effective calculation formula for the working clearance leakage. In this paper, a series of HCP models with different working clearances are established and calculated using an overlapping grid simulation method, verifying that the traditional Roots blower leakage flow formula is feasible for HCP, although the maximum calculation error reaches 10.71%. Further study the pressure distribution law inside the HCP chamber, and revise the traditional calculation formula accordingly, so that the average calculation error of the series models is reduced from 5.75% to 3.82%, and the maximum error is also reduced to 7.73%. Compared with the prototype test data, though the flow values obtained from the two calculation formulas are slightly higher, the calculation error of the correction formula is relatively smaller. The research results indicate that the correction formula can more accurately predict the flow rate of HCP and has important application value.

The article is dedicated to the analysis of the functioning of the judicial system and the peculiarities of the judicial proceedings in the rural communities of Galicia between the end of the XVIIIth century and the first half of the XIXth century. The development of legal institutions following the annexation of Galicia to the Habsburg Monarchy is examined, particularly the introduction of the Austrian judicial system, which replaced traditional forms of rural adjudication. The primary focus is on the changes in the structure of courts, the jurisdiction of judges, the process of case hearings, and the participation of peasants in judicial proceedings. The article also characterizes the influences of political, social as well economic factors on judicial procedures and decisions. Special attention is given to the role of peasant self-governance and its integration into new legal norms. The article highlights a significant contribution to understanding the evolution of judicial proceedings in the rural areas of Galicia, which will foster a deeper comprehension of the processes of legal modernization in the Austrian Empire. It describes the impact of the Austrian administration on the judicial system, including a series of reforms aimed at unifying judicial proceedings and implementing Austrian law. This led to significant changes in the structure of the courts, their jurisdiction, and the procedures for implementing their decisions, as the peasants of Galicia had their own traditional legal customs and norms, which often conflicted with Austrian legislation. The integration processes associated with the introduction of the new justice system substantially affected the unique legal culture of the peasants, as rural courts had specific characteristics compared to urban and district courts. The article analyzes legislative acts and reforms introduced by the Austrian authorities in the field of judicial proceedings, their role, and their impact on judicial practice. It identifies the specific features of courts and judicial proceedings in the villages of Galicia during the period under study. The importance of researching this issue lies in understanding the evolution of legal norms, judicial practice, and their impact on the lives of the rural population. The study of the declared problem allows for a better understanding of the legal and social processes that took place in this part of Europe during the specified period. This not only supplements the general picture of the history of law but also helps to identify the roots of contemporary legal traditions and issues.

Moving From Vernacular Culture to Urban Culture: Evolution of Batik Culture in Indonesia

Batik has initially been a practice among the ordinary people, having been introduced to Jakarta during the Dutch rule. It has evolved from a vernacular product to a symbol of urban culture and national identity, pursuant to independence of Indonesia. It has acquired an association with the political and cultural activities linked to Jakarta's role as the national government center and has reached a position of national signficance. This study examines the significant elements and the effects of batik in the development of the urban culture of Indonesia. It employed interviews as primary data sources to gather information from batik owners and craftsmen, museums, collectors, institutions, and decision-makers regarding local culture and its contemporary significance. Secondary data was compiled from reference sources using an interdisciplinary historical approach in order to reconstruct the historical development of Batik in Indonesia. It is concluded that the roots of the batik tradition in Jakarta have arisen from the immigrant vernacular communities. Numerous political, economic and cultural events have produced the setting for its growth to form the current urban cultural identity having become a fashionable cloth of national significance even symbolizing the national identity of Indonesia.

Osmice at the crossroads: the dialectical interplay of tradition, modernity and cultural identity in family businesses

Purpose This study aims to explore the dialectical interplay between traditional roots and contemporary challenges faced by family businesses, specifically focusing on “Osmice” (in Slovenian; in Italian, “Osmize”), which are family enterprises that embody the cultural and historical heritage at the intersection of Italy and Slovenia. In particular, the purpose of this study is to understand how these businesses, deeply rooted in the communal life of the Karst region, evolve amidst changing social, economic and cultural landscapes. Design/methodology/approach Building on an alternate template analysis, the research includes the examination of archival data and 34 in-depth narrative interviews. This approach captures details about the historical establishment, persistence and evolution of Osmice, with a particular focus on their ways of facing contemporary challenges while preserving their traditional roots. Findings The findings reveal that Osmice navigate the tension between past and present through high sensitivity to the cultural identity of the land in which they are embedded. Thus, the study interprets these dynamics through a dialectical lens as the synthesis of preserving traditional roots and adapting to contemporary challenges, articulated through a particular sensitivity to cultural identity. Originality/value This investigation contributes to the discourse on how family businesses can maintain their traditional roots while adapting to contemporary challenges. It offers novel insights into the role of cultural identity in balancing tradition and modernity. Through this lens, the study underscores the capacity of family businesses such as Osmice to thrive amidst change, providing implications for both theory and practice in the field of business studies.

Optimizing positive goal framing in advertising: differential consumer responses to new product categories

PurposeThis research delves into the nuanced effects of positive goal framing quantity in advertising on consumer reactions towards new products, categorizing them into incrementally new products (INPs) and really new products (RNPs). It moves beyond the traditional binary evaluation of advertising effectiveness, offering a more intricate analysis of consumer engagement based on product novelty.Design/methodology/approachEmploying a comprehensive dataset encompassing 461 digital video advertisements from six leading technology-centric firms, this study employs content analysis alongside hierarchical polynomial regression to dissect the dynamics between the volume of positive goal framings and consumer engagements. This examination is contextualized within the spectrum of product innovation, offering insights into the differential consumer behaviors elicited by INPs and RNPs.FindingsThe investigation uncovers a non-linear, inverted U-shaped correlation between the volume of positive goal framings and consumer responses. This relationship exhibits variability in its intensity between INPs and RNPs, with INPs demonstrating a more pronounced response variability around a higher inflection point on the curve. This pattern underscores the complex interplay between goal framing and product novelty in shaping consumer perceptions and actions.Originality/valueThis study pioneers the exploration of goal framing within the realm of product advertising, shifting the analytical lens from its traditional roots in health and medicine to the intricacies of consumer behavior in response to advertising. Clinical influencing factors of vital pulp therapy on pulpitis permanent teeth with 2 calcium silicate-based materials: A randomized clinical trial.

Compared with traditional root canal therapy (RCT), vital pulp therapy (VPT) is a personalized and minimally invasive method for the treatment of pulpitis caused by dental caries. However, there are still no clear guidelines for VPT because high-quality randomized clinical trials are scarce. This prospective cohort study evaluated the clinical efficacy of VPT with the light-curable calcium silicate-based material TheraCal LC (TH) and bioceramic material iRoot BP Plus (BP) in reversible and irreversible pulpitis permanent teeth with carious exposures. 115 teeth with reversible or irreversible pulpitis caused by deep care were randomly divided into 2 groups. TheraCal LC and iRoot BP Plus were used for the pulp capping. Direct pulp capping (DPC), partial pulpotomy (PP) and full pulpotomy (FP) were performed based on observation of the exposed pulp. Postoperative discomforts were enquired and recorded via follow-up phone calls. Clinical and radiographic evaluations were performed 3, 6, and 12 months postoperatively. The overall clinical success rate in the first year was 90.4% (47/52) in both groups. The TH group required less operating time, showed lower levels of pain, and had shorter pain duration post-operative (P < .001). According to the binary logistic regression model, preoperative pain duration was significantly correlated with the prognosis of VPT (P = .011). VPT with TheraCal LC and iRoot BP Plus in pulpitis permanent carious teeth both achieved good clinical outcomes, and TheraCal LC can be easily operated for clinical use. Preoperative pain duration of the affected tooth might have a significant correlation with the prognosis of VPT.

Partial Cross Mapping Based on Sparse Variable Selection for Direct Fault Root Cause Diagnosis for Industrial Processes.

Root cause diagnosis of process industry is of significance to ensure safe production and improve production efficiency. Conventional contribution plot methods have challenges in root cause diagnosis due to the smearing effect. Other traditional root cause diagnosis methods, such as Granger causality (GC) and transfer entropy, have unsatisfactory performance in root cause diagnosis for complex industrial processes due to the existence of indirect causality. In this work, a regularization and partial cross mapping (PCM)-based root cause diagnosis framework is proposed for efficient direct causality inference and fault propagation path tracing. First, generalized Lasso-based variable selection is performed. The Hotelling T2 statistic is formulated and the Lasso-based fault reconstruction is applied to select candidate root cause variables. Second, the root cause is diagnosed through the PCM and the propagation path is drawn out according to the diagnosis result. The proposed framework is studied in four cases to verify its rationality and effectiveness, including a numerical example, the Tennessee Eastman benchmark process, the wastewater treatment process (WWTP), and the decarburization process of high-speed wire rod spring steel.

The Evolution and Doctrinal Transformations of New Religious Movements Deriving from Catholicism in Zimbabwe

This article delves into the emergence and doctrinal evolution of New Religious Movements (NRMs) in Zimbabwe, particularly those with roots in the Catholic tradition, exemplified by Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries, Grace Oasis Ministries (GOM), and Emmaus Encounter (EE). These movements, founded by individuals with Catholic backgrounds, illustrate a significant doctrinal shift from traditional Catholic teachings to a distinct emphasis on prosperity, miraculous healings, and personalised prophecy. The study explores how the concept of confirmation, initially a rite of spiritual maturation in Catholicism, is reinterpreted in these NRMs as a divine endorsement for leadership roles. The article critically examines these movements' departure from Catholic doctrines of suffering and prophecy towards a theology centred on immediate prosperity and direct divine communication, highlighting the broader implications for religious identity and practice in the Zimbabwean context.

The efficacy of premixed bioceramic sealers versus standard sealers on root canal treatment outcome, extrusion rate and post-obturation pain: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Limited evidence is available regarding the superior clinical properties of bioceramic sealers comparted with traditional standard sealers. This review aimed to answer the following research questions: 'In healthy patients requiring a root canal treatment (P), what is the efficacy of premixed bioceramic sealers (I) compared with traditional root canal epoxy resin-based sealers (C) in terms of survival, success rates (PICO1) sealer extrusion and resorption (PICO2) post-obturation pain (PICO3) (O)?' Authors independently searched three electronic databases: PubMed (including MEDLINE), Web of Science, Embase and Scopus up to 31 October 2023. This was accompanied by both grey literature and manual search. Detailed selection criteria were applied, namely mature permanent teeth requiring root canal treatment, premixed bioceramic sealer with gutta-percha as an intervention group, a standard filling technique as control group and full-text available in English. A random-effect meta-analysis was used to synthesize the body of evidence regarding the use of bioceramic sealers in root canal treatment and their impact on post-obturation pain. Effect sizes were represented as relative risks on a logarithmic scale for binary outcomes and as mean differences for continuous outcomes. A total of 941 articles were identified. Fifteen Comparative clinical studies were finally included. Eleven were randomized clinical trials, and four were prospective clinical trials with control group. The follow-up of these studies was not greater than 2 years. No publication bias was observed in any study. No significant differences were observed between the two groups in terms of survival and success rates. A small non-significant lower risk of extrusion was observed for bioceramics. A small, non-significantly lower post-operative-pain within 24-h was observed when bioceramics were used. The majority of current evidence shows inconsistencies in reporting and is of short-term duration. Robust prospective long-term trials are needed in this area to better support future recommendations. This systematic review is the first to analyse several clinical outcomes using premixed sealers. Included studies differed in terms of clinical protocol and operator expertise, but reported a similar outcome when comparing bioceramic versus standard sealers. Tooth survival, treatment outcome, post-operative pain and periapical extrusion were similar and presented no significant differences between the two sealer types. (CON) TEXTUALISING GOND ART AND PAINTINGS FOR LIFE WRITING AND INDIAN GRAPHIC NARRATIVE: REFERENCE TO BHIMAYANA: EXPERIENCES OF UNTOUCHABILITY

The pictorial Gond style of artwork has its roots in the tribal Gond art tradition adopted for narrativising fiction Bhimayana: Experiences of Untouchability (2012), life writings of Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar. The Pradhan Gond artists Subhash Vyam and Durgabai Vyam interweave historical events with contemporary incidents using the Digna pattern of the Gond style visualising the stories with immense nuances and dynamics. The novel Bhimayana adopted Gond art to visualise and narrate the life of Ambedkar in a new way of seeing and corresponding to post-millennial trends in visual culture and comical creativity. This graphic novel Bhimayana is named after the hero for the comic version of the graphic narrative, sorrowful and miserable accounts of Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar. The tribal Gond art and paintings had been contextualised in this fiction for interweaving the plot by bringing back story telling, symbolism, animal imageries, colours, patterns, figurative elements, and sequence of images etc. to constitute the novel, a narrative of comic and graphic strips. This paper will emphasise how this graphic novel Bhimayana juxtaposes past, present and future spatially on the page, linearly emphasising personal and historical modes while positioning itself on the high-brow of the literary canon of life narrative and Indian comics.
