The impact of foreign direct investments on the increase in the number of visitors in tourism - Case study Republic of Kosovo

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) plays a significant role in the Republic of Kosovo's economy, namely in the tourist sector. The primary goal of this research is to examine the impact of FDI on the increase in the number of tourist visits (NTV), as well as the trend of NTV and government spending on recreation, culture, and religion in the Republic of Kosovo. The results demonstrate that NTV increased in Kosovo between 2008 and 2022, however this increase was not consistent. The most pronounced growth was in 2021 compared to 2020, at approximately 133%, while the most pronounced decline in NTV was in 2020 compared to 2019, at -46%. From 2008 to 2022, the FDI trend was the highest in 2022, when the value of FDI reached 778.2 million euros, while the government's expenditures in the fields of recreation, culture, and religion were the highest in 2021, at approximately 61 million euros. Empirical analysis indicates that FDI has positively impacted the expansion of NTV in Kosovo, with a β parameter of 0.41. The report suggests that state officials adopt more sustainable and effective policies that will result in higher FDI, government tourism spending, and NTV in Kosovo. A sustainable FDI policy for the tourism industry will have an impact not only on tourism, but also on other tourism-related businesses. Furthermore, a critical appraisal is required in Kosovo to improve tourism performance and regional economic development, among other things.

Tourism Development Impact on Economic Growth and Poverty Alleviation in West Java

Poverty alleviation is on the agenda of regional development in West Java. One of the priority sectors is tourism development, which supports inclusive economic growth and is expected to address poverty. Through various unit analyses, the study analyzed how tourism development in West Java impacts economic growth and poverty alleviation. These included indicators such as the number of tourist visits, hotel room occupancy rate, the number of hotels and restaurants, average length of stay, and the tourism sector's contribution to Original Local Government Revenue (PAD). Economic growth was assessed using indicators such as Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), unemployment rate, Gini Index, and regional investment value. In contrast, the poverty variable used the percentage and number of people living in poverty, poverty line statistics, Poverty Depth Index, and Poverty Severity Index. Inferential statistical analysis, specifically Partial Least Square (PLS), was conducted using a quantitative approach and data from BPS - Statistics of West Java. Hypotheses were formulated based on the literature review, asserting that tourism development significantly and positively impacted economic growth and poverty alleviation in West Java. Results showed that tourism development significantly boosted economic performance, directly influencing economic growth. Additionally, high economic growth correlated with reduced poverty rates, highlighting the importance of inclusive growth for alleviation. Key indicators played crucial roles in poverty alleviation, including the number of hotels and restaurants, the tourism sector's contribution to regional revenue, GRDP, and regional investment value. These findings provided valuable insights for policymakers and stakeholders to develop effective strategies for leveraging tourism potential to promote inclusive economic growth and alleviate poverty in West Java.

Exploring factors influencing Koreans’ intention to visit Japan through decision tree analysis: focusing on discharge of ALPS-treated water and low-yen perception

ABSTRACT In this study, factors influencing Koreans’ intention to visit Japan were examined using a decision tree. It is known that a negative national image generally adversely affects the intention to visit tourist destinations. Japan and Korea have maintained various political, economic and historical conflicts from the past. However, Koreans accounted for the largest proportion of tourists visiting Japan. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the decision-making process for Koreans’ intention to visit Japan and analyse the priority of influencing factors using a decision tree. As a result of the analysis, low-yen perception, historical animosity, interest in treated water, cultural familiarity and age were identified as major influencing factors. These results confirm that changes in Koreans’ perceptions of Japan are progressing despite the fact that the anti-Japanese sentiment towards Japan still exists. Such changes are affecting the selection of tourist destinations. This study is significant in that it considers factors influencing international tourism demand from various perspectives by inputting various predictive variables such as politics, economy, social culture and so on.

Pendampingan Inventarisasi Atraksi, Aksesibilitas, dan Amenitas Desa sebagai Komponen Penilaian Anugerah Desa Wisata (ADWI) Kemenparekraf

Tukamasea Village in Maros Regency, South Sulawesi, has significant potential to be developed as a tourist village. However, this potential has not been fully identified and utilized optimally. This community service project aims to provide guidance in the inventory and development of tourist attractions, accessibility, and amenities in Tukamasea Tourist Village. The methods used include field observations, focus group discussions (FGD), and training for the local community. The inventory results show that Tukamasea Village has various potential tourist attractions, such as Dolli Bathing Tourism, Galung Dolli Tourism, Jodoh Hill, and the Red Flower Seed House. Accessibility to the village and between tourist sites is generally good, although some road sections still require improvements. Basic amenities like mosques, schools, and health centers are available, though tourism-supporting facilities still need enhancement. This project also involves empowering the community in tourist village management, including training for Pokdarwis members and local business actors. Development recommendations include improving infrastructure quality, diversifying tourist attractions, strengthening institutions, and implementing more effective promotional strategies. Through this activity, it is hoped that Tukamasea Village can optimize its tourism potential, increase tourist visits, and ultimately boost the local economy. The sustainability of this program needs to be maintained through ongoing collaboration between local government, academics, and the local community.

Marketing Communication Strategy of Youth Works Breakfast Week (Pasar Kamu) in Increasing Local Tourist Visits in Kampoeng Lama Tourist Village, Deli Serdang Regency

This research aims to analyze the marketing communication strategy and analyze the obstacles of the marketing communication strategy of the Youth Works Breakfast Week (Pasar Kamu) in increasing local tourist visits in Kampoeng Lama Tourism Village, Deli Serdang Regency. This research uses constructivism paradigm with descriptive method and qualitative approach. The results of this study are that the marketing communication strategy of Pekan Sarapan Karya Muda (Pasar Kamu) in increasing local tourist visits at Kampoeng Lama Tourism Village, Deli Serdang Regency is by implementing marketing communication with the application of a marketing mix consisting of personal selling, advertising, as well as public relations, publicity and viral marketing. Through personal selling, managers and traders play an active and direct role in promoting to visitors who come Pasar Kamu. Advertising carried out by Pekan Sarapan Karya Anak Muda (Pasar Kamu) in collaboration with Metro Kampung as print media to promote activities that take place at Pekan Sarapan Karya Anak Muda (Pasar Kamu). Pasar Kamu's public relations role does not have a big impact because there is no public relations field. However, with the publicity carried out by Pasar Kamu to reach its target audience such as using goodie bags produced to do marketing with the public. There is viral marketing where visitors take the initiative to spread content containing information about Pasar Kamu on their Instagram and Tiktok social media accounts so that it becomes viral and succeeds in increasing tourist visits to Pasar Kamu

The tourist pose: aesthetic labour, social media, and new gendered tourism geographies

The concept of the ‘tourist pose’ is developed to examine the feminised aesthetic labour involved in ‘post-selfie’ tourist self-portraiture for social media consumption, and its role in vernacular geographies of tourist visitation. We elaborate on what constitutes the tourist pose, its linkage to distinctive cultural groups and practices, and altered tourism geographies. Young female Chinese tourist-influencers visiting Sydney, Australia, combine photography, fashion, colour, text, and compositional skills, to curate high-end social media posts within a culturally-inflected community of practice. Their aesthetic labour also creates new distinctive geographies of ‘marked’ (daka) places. Democratisation of photography through smartphones and social media platforms, notably Xiaohongshu, has encouraged tourists to discover and recommend distinctive sites, beyond the mainstream, selected for their colour and curatorial possibilities. The tourist pose and accompanying aesthetic labour, fuel creativity and performances of femininity, extending the tourist gaze while diffusing tourism geographies. Visitation patterns associated with the tourist pose are dispersed and small-scale, and eschew managerial interventions. The point is not to ‘develop’ chosen sites for commercial gain, but to acknowledge tourists’ vernacular social practices and accompanying gendered performances. The tourist pose reveals how visitors find meaning, refine aesthetic skills, perform gendered identities and explore vernacular creativity, in distinctive places.

Pengaruh Kualitas Pelayanan dan Fasilitas Terhadap Minat Berkunjung Wisatawan di Karang Setra Waterland

Quality of Service and Facilities is the most important thing in every tourist destination, so if these two things are done well, it will automatically affect the interest in visiting. Thus, this study aims to determine how the influence of the quality of services and facilities on the interest in visiting Karang Setra Waterland. The method used is a verifiative descriptive quantitative method. The types used in this study are primary data and secondary data. The population in this study was taken from the average tourist visits in 2019-2023 of 4,700 and the sample used amounted to 100 respondents, the results of using the Slovin formula. The sampling technique is carried out by survey or questionnaire. Data collection was done by observation, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The questionnaire model in this study used the Likert Scale. The verifiative analysis used in this study is instrument test (validity test and reliability test), normality test, multiple linear regression analysis, determination analysis, and partial and simultaneous hypothesis test. The results of this study show that each statement item is said to be valid and reliable. The influence of the independent variable on the dependent variable in this study was 52.70%. The results of partial and simultaneous hypothesis tests show that the Quality of Service ( ) and Facilities ( ) has a positive and significant effect partially and simultaneously on Visiting Interest (Y) in Karang Setra Waterland.

Influence of destination image, augmented reality and destination social responsibility on destination beliefs, motivation and intention to visit of tourists which are moderate by digital Wom in Berau District, East Kalimantan

This research aims to prove and analyze the influence of destination image, augmented reality and destination social responsibility on destination trust, motivation and intention to visit moderated by digital word of mouth (WOM) in Berau Regency, East Kalimantan. The sample in this study was 247 respondents. The sampling technique uses purposive non-probability sampling. The data analysis technique in this research is validity and reliability testing using the SPSS V23 application and hypothesis testing using SEM-AMOS. The results of this research show that destination image has a significant effect on destination trust, destination image has a significant effect on motivation, destination image has a significant effect on intention to visit, augmented reality has a significant effect on destination trust, augmented reality has a significant effect on motivation, destination social responsibility has a significant effect on destination trust, destination trust has a significant effect on intention to visit, motivation has a significant effect on intention to visit, augmented reality has a significant effect on intention to visit tourist destinations in Berau Regency, East Kalimantan, unacceptable, destination social responsibility has a significant effect on intention to visit in tourist destinations in Berau Regency, East Kalimantan, is also unacceptable. The role of digital WOM as a moderator of destination trust on intention to visit is significant.

Attractiveness of tourist destinations and collaborative tourism governance on Revisit Intention as a support for the tourism economy of the Paropo area of Dairi Regency with Tourist Experience as an Intervening Variable

The challenge of tourism is how to create tourists who are loyal to tourist destinations because every corner of tourism has an impact on the economy for the business community in the tourist destination area, if tourist visitors enjoy their tour and have the intention to return to visit the tour, it will have an impact on increasing the economy of the community located in tourist destinations. Analysis of Perceived Value as an Intervening Variable of Aspect-Based Sentiment and Tourist Experience on Lake Toba Tourism Destination Development Problems

Tourism problems must be resolved quickly because every problem that exists will make the name of the tourist spot a negative value in the eyes of other tourists who want to visit, the tours visited at least provide comfort for visitors so that this positive value will have an impact on the decision to revisit or spread positive information to potential new tourists in the tourist environment itself. This research approach is quantitative with the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) model. This approach is able to test the most ideal model in estimating endogenous variables. This research was conducted in the North Sumatra region, precisely at the Lake Toba tourist location and the research target was Lake Toba tourism visitors who came from outside the Tobasa Regency area, the population of Lake Toba tourists who had visited at least 250 people twice, the analysis model used to test the hypothesis in this study was multiple regression analysis using the Smart PLS application. Directly Perceived Value, Aspect-Based Sentiment and Tourist Experience have a Significant Effect on the Problems of Lake Toba Tourism Destination Development, Directly Aspect-Based Sentiment and Tourist Experience have a Significant Effect on Perceived Value of Lake Toba Tourism, Indirectly Aspect-Based Sentiment and Tourist Experience have a Significant Effect on the Problems of Lake Toba Tourism Destination Development through Perceived Value.

Tourists' Intention to Visit Royal Cemetery as a Dark Tourism Destination: The Role of Destination Image, Self-Congruence, and Destination Personality

This study seeks to investigate the effect of destination image, self-congruence, and destination personality on the visitors' intentions to visit the Imogiri Royal Cemetery, Yogyakarta Special Region, Indonesia. The cemetery is considered a historical and cultural place wherein a few kings and sultans who once ruled Java lie buried. Thousands of tourists visit this place throughout the year, especially on dates that have great significance in the Islamic and Javanese calendars. Data were collected from a convenience sample comprising of 220 tourists in Yogyakarta. Results show that destination image is an antecedent to destination personality, while self-congruence and destination personality each positively relate to the visit intentions of tourists. Conversely, one’s destination image does not predict self-congruence. In contributing to the literature at the intersection of royal and dark tourism, this underpins sustainability in tourist tourism, destination marketing, and consumer behaviour. The implications of such a study are found to fall in line with the United Nations SDGs, specifically Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, regarding the promotion of sustainable tourism, which brings in income and provides employment; and Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, due to the fostering of conservation and promotion at the cultural heritage sites.

Comparison of Holt Winter's and SARIMA Methods on the data of the Number of Foreign Tourist Visits in Bali Province

The tourism sector is a critical component of a country’s economy, including in Indonesia, where its impact is felt both nationally and regionally, such as in provinces and cities. This research focuses on Bali Province and aims to conduct a comparative analysis of the Holt-Winter’s and Seasonal Auto-regressive Integrated Moving Average (SARIMA) methods for forecasting foreign tourist arrivals. The analysis centers on two primary entry points: Ngurah-Rai Airport and the seaport. The primary objective is to forecast the number of foreign tourist arrivals from February 2024 to January 2025. The results indicate that the Holt-Winter’s model has a Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) of 5.2631%, which is lower than the MAPE of 5.8920% for the SARIMA model. Additionally, the Mean Absolute Error (MAE) for the Holt-Winter’s model is 19,149.18, compared to 20,883.20 for the SARIMA model. Consequently, this study concludes that the Holt-Winter’s model provides more accurate predictions and is closer to the actual values than the SARIMA model. The Influence of Green Tourism Differentiation and Green Marketing on Tourist Visit Decisions through Visit Interest in Paharangan Village Agrotourism

Indonesia, as a country rich in natural resources and biodiversity, has a great opportunity to develop an environmentally friendly tourism sector. In the last two decades, there has been an increasing interest in tourism development, especially with regard to green tourism. This study aims to empirically test the effect of green tourism differentiation and green marketing on tourists’ decisions to visit certain destinations. The independent variables for this analysis are green tourism differentiation and green marketing. The dependent variable is visit decision. The intervening variable is visit interest. The sample for this research draws from tourists who are visiting or have already visited Paharangan Village Agrotourism. The engineering method, non-probability sampling, was used for the sampling. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires directly to respondents, totalling as many as 130 questionnaires, and multiple linear regression and path analyses were conducted. The results show that while green tourism differentiation and green marketing significantly positively affect visit decision and visit interest of tourists, visit interest does not affect visit decision, and visit interest is not proven as an intervening variable between green tourism differentiation and green marketing on visiting decisions. Visitor profile of enological tourism in Slovakia: Implications of the regional analysis of the demand for wine-themed experience stay

In recent years, enological tourism, also known as wine tourism, has emerged as a globally popular tourism product. The role of wine tourism in Slovakia is similarly significant, given the country’s favourable conditions for the development of wine tourism products. The objective of this study is to analyze the current demand for wine-themed experiences among tourists in the Nitra region. This paper presents a characterization of wine tourism based on an analysis of secondary sources. Following the processing of the initial findings from a demand-oriented questionnaire survey, the authors endeavor to delineate the profile of the wine tourism visitor by examining the demand for wine tourism from the vantage point of domestic consumers. It is the authors’ contention that an understanding of the profile of the wine tourism visitor is beneficial in optimising the provision of wine tourism products and stimulating the development of tourism infrastructure.

Optimalisasi Potensi Lokal oleh Bumdes Berkarya dalam Pengembangan Desa Wisata Wonorejo, Kabupaten Karanganyar

This research aims to identify, analyze, and describe the development of the tourist village through the utilization of local potential by BUMDes Berkarya in Wonorejo Tourist Village, Jatiyoso District, Karanganyar Regency. This study uses descriptive research methods with a qualitative approach, employing data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation. The theory used in this research involves tourism destination elements consisting of five focuses: tourist attractions, attractions, tourist facilities and general facilities, accessibility, and brand images. The results of this research indicate that the development of the tourist village through the utilization of local potential by BUMDes Berkarya in Wonorejo Tourist Village is quite good and aligns with existing theories. However, there are still some shortcomings that need to be improved and further developed, such as incorporating local culture as an attraction, adding facilities, and improving accessibility to facilitate easier access. These improvements aim to achieve the goal of tourism development, which is to attract tourist visits and enhance community welfare.

Penguatan Kelembagaan Lokal dan Konservasi Ekologi Mangrove Jangkaran Untuk Pariwisata Berkelanjutan

This community service focuses on strengthening local institutions, preserving mangrove ecology and increasing tourist visits. Activities are carried out through collective problem solving, training and mentoring. This community service has succeeded in encouraging and implementing pro-sustainable tourism policies. Strengthening informal institutions, especially developing joint agreements, resolving disputes/conflicts, cooperation, commitment and new ideas, namely low carbon tourism. This activity also ensures that all sustainable tourism ideas are prepared, included and regulated in the review and revision of the Jangkaran Village Tourism Master Plan (RIPPARKAL). Ripparkal is the foundation for mangrove ecology and ecosystem conservation through village regulations as formal institutional strengthening. In this way, the institution is legal and binding, so that the government provides the village budget and infrastructure to carry it out. Apart from that, focusing on ecological conservation can encourage carbon trading from communities to emitters as an alternative financing mechanism in line with Presidential Regulation No. 98/2021. However, this dedication is too early to evaluate the achievement of ecological and environmental improvements, as well as overcoming decline. visits for short periods of service. Uncovering Tourist Visit Intentions on Social Media through Sentence Transformers

The problem of understanding and predicting tourist behavior in choosing their destinations is a long-standing one. The first step in the process is to understand users’ intention to visit a country, which may later translate into an actual visit. Would-be tourists may express their intention to visit a destination on social media. Being able to predict their intention may be useful for targeted promotion campaigns. In this paper, we propose an algorithm to predict visit (or revisit) intentions based on the texts in posts on social media. The algorithm relies on a neural network sentence-transformer architecture using optimized embedding and a logistic classifier. Employing two real labeled datasets from Twitter (now X) for training, the algorithm achieved 90% accuracy and balanced performances over the two classes (visit intention vs. no-visit intention). The algorithm was capable of predicting intentions to visit with high accuracy, even when fed with very imbalanced datasets, where the posts showing the intention to visit were an extremely small minority.

The Effect of Negative User-Generated Content Reviews in the Form of Testimonials on Interest in Visiting Borobudur Temple, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko Palace

Historical tourism in Indonesia, especially destinations such as Borobudur Temple, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko Palace, has great potential to attract both domestic and international tourists. However, negative reviews that come from user-generated content in the form of testimonials are often a factor that can affect the interest of tourist visits. This study aims to analyze the impact of negative reviews on interest in tourist visits to these historical destinations. This study aims to eval_uate the extent to which negative reviews affect interest in tourist visits to three main cultural destinations in Indonesia: Borobudur Temple, Prambanan Temple, and Ratu Boko Palace. This study uses a descriptive quantitative method by collecting data through a survey of 58 respondents who have visited the three destinations. The data was processed using SPSS software to test the validity, reliability, and influence of negative reviews on the interest of tourist visits. The results of the analysis showed that negative reviews did not significantly affect the interest of tourists visiting Borobudur Temple, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko Palace. All three destinations remain the top choice for tourists, despite the negative reviews, mainly due to their strong historical reputation and visual appeal. This study concludes that negative reviews do not have a significant influence on the interest in tourist visits to the historical destinations of Borobudur, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko Palace. Therefore, destination managers are advised to continue to pay attention to negative reviews as eval_uation material but do not need to worry too much about the impact on tourist visits.

Marketing Strategy Development in Entrepreneurship in the Creative Economy Sector, Tourism Sub Sector

To overcome the challenges in the tourism sector during the COVID-19 pandemic and restore the national economy, a strategy is needed to be able to survive and recover. One strategy that can be done is to innovate in marketing, find new markets, and guarantee security from the threat of COVID-19. This will make tourists interested in visiting and continue to comply with health protocols so as not to be exposed to COVID-19. In addition, it is hoped that tourism in Indonesia can recover after experiencing a downturn due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This research aims to analyze marketing strategy development in entrepreneurship in the creative economy sector, tourism sub sector. This type of research uses qualitative research. The object of the research is the creative economy sector, tourism sub sector in Indonesia. Data collection for research purposes uses secondary data. Data analysis in this study uses qualitative data analysis. The results of the study indicate that the preparation of marketing strategies in entrepreneurship in the creative economy sector, tourism sub sector aims to obtain, maintain, and increase tourist visits. The strategy consists of environmental analysis, marketing research analysis, and positioning analysis.

World Heritage: features, composition, and tourist significance

It is proved that the idea of world heritage and its conceptual form of legal imple- mentation created a new institution of world heritage in international law. At the end of the 20th century for the first time, the term «world cultural and natural heritage» became widely used to define those natural and cultural objects that are of outstanding importance not only for the people of a certain country but also for all humanity as a whole. Among the main advantages of granting the status of a world heritage site are the following: additional guarantees of preservation and integrity of unique natural and cultural complexes; increasing the prestige of the territories and institutions that take care of them; promoting the promotion of objects included in the List and the development of alternative types of nature use (primarily, ecological tourism); ensuring priority in attracting financial funds for the support of objects of world cultural and natural heritage, first of all, from the World Heritage Fund; promoting the organization of monitoring and control over the state of preservation of natural and cultural objects. Currently, the World Heritage List consists of three categoriesof objects: cultural heritage, natural phenomena, and cultural-natural (mixed) objects. It is noted that every year the number of world heritage sites is steadily increasing, and by 2020 their number has already reached 1,121 sites, including 869 cultural sites, 213 natural sites, and 39 mixed sites. From 1978 until now, the number of nominated objects has constantly increased. However, in order to achieve representativeness, balance, and credibility of the UNESCO Heritage List, certain restrictions on the number of nominations per year have been introduced since 2018. Now their total number cannot exceed 45 nominations per year and only one nomination from the state. They are distributed very unevenly by regions of the world. More than 75% of the world’s cultural heritage is concentrated in Eurasian countries. The countries of America and Africa hold the leadership in the number of natural monuments in the world. The basis of the interest of the countries of the world in the inclusion of objects in the List of World Heritage is the possibility of obtaining profits from the visit of numerous tourists to this cultural or natural attraction. About 225 historic centers of cities around the world are included in the UNESCO Heritage List, including Paris, London, Istanbul, Vienna, Athens, Florence, Venice, St. Petersburg, Krakow, Riga, Jerusalem, Mecca, Mexico City, Quito, Quebec, Rio de Janeiro -Janeiro, etc. It was found that individual objects of cultural heritage are also very popular (the Great Wall of China, St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, the Colosseum, etc.).
