Contribution of Tourism Industry in Nepal: Measuring Its Economic Impact

This research paper is concern with the economic impact of tourism industry in Nepalese economy. Tourism industry is multi-industry and multi-product and tourist demand is complementary and has to be met by a number of goods and services, which are not only spatially disparate but also functionally different. The tourist product is of a highly perishable nature and the bulk of tourist facilities have an in-built inflexibility. It initially reviews the concert and using a model, it deals with the factors affecting the economic impacts associate with tourism. The economic impact is measured in terms of direct employment, foreign exchange earnings, GDP and government royalty due to the flow of total tourists arrival of tourists in different fiscal years by using linear regression model and correlation. Results reveal that there is positive economic impact of tourism industry in Nepalese economy.

Alleviating water scarcity and poverty in drylands through telecouplings: Vegetable trade and tourism in northwest China

Water scarcity and poverty are among the most significant global challenges, especially in the world's arid regions. Many countries have been trying to address these challenges. Facilitated by the construction of infrastructure (e.g., high-speed rails) and development of services industries (e.g., hotels and resorts), telecouplings (human-nature interactions over distances, e.g., vegetable trade and tourism industry) are expected to alleviate both water scarcity and poverty, and have been much supported by the central government of China. However, the extent to which these telecouplings can save water and reduce poverty remains unclear and requires quantification. Employing the simulated results from an integrated hydrological model, crop growth model, and multiple socioeconomic data from a large arid region of northwest China, the Heihe River Basin, we evaluated water scarcity using a composite index that considered both water resources and poverty between 2000 and 2012, and assessed the effects of the vegetable trade and tourism on water scarcity and income. Our results show that the vegetable trade contributed 30% of the total water saving and brought an extra 33% of income to rural residents. The tourism industry's contribution of saving water increased from 1% of its total water use in 2000 to 22% in 2012 through its ongoing expanding market. Our results also implicate that future water sustainability is determined by climate factors and by social factors, such as population, economy, policy, and technological developments. Our study provides insights into northwest China and can be used to develop arid regions around the world to better manage natural resources and reduce poverty.

The participants of this research proposal is the students who live around tourism object (case study at Kencana Beach Cottages in Labuhan Badas Sumbawa Besar). The present study used mixed method. It contain to be examined in relation to quantitative and qualitative methods of data collection and analysis. The instrument used in collecting data was questionnaire, speaking test and observation. Questionnaire and speaking test used descriptive statistics of frequencies and percentages. It was analyzed by using SPSS Program.Observation was analyzed by using qualitative method. Based on the data analysis technique above, it was found out the the contributions oftourism industry toward students’ speaking motivation in learning English and to know how the contribution of tourism industry toward students’ speaking motivation in English.

Approaches to the Assessment of the Contribution of Tourism Into the Regional Surplus Product: Case of the Kaliningrad Region

Article examines the contribution of tourism to the regional economy through construction of the value added chain. The results of research of an integrated model of formation of the tourism industry contribution to regional surplus product; the augmented and transformed model of the tourism product; the characteristic of ‘inputs’ and ‘outputs’ in the production and marketing of regional tourism product testing carried out on the model example of the Kaliningrad region of Russia. The authors apply the logic-structural method in strategic planning and management of socio-economic systems. In the constructed ‘problem tree’, hierarchically represented a causal link between negative or adverse events that hinder or even will prevent future development of the tourism industry. Developed and described scenarios for the tourism industry (project-ambitious, compensation, basic). The factors that will have the greatest impact on the development of tourism in terms of solving regional problems of the economy ‘transition period’ after the end of the Special Economic Zone, operating in 2006-2016, were grounded. In order to assess the contribution of tourism to the regional economy it is not enough to rely solely on the statistics. This is due to the fact that there are no universal formulas for the isolation of the share is created by tourism in a number of sectors that make up the value chain for tourism. The contribution of tourism industry on the GDP growth of Western Balkan countries

Tourism industry records various economic, social, political and others influences and provides itself important position in the overall economic development of many countries. The analysis of the available data of tourist arrivals and number of tourist overnight stays in observed countries of the Western Balkans (Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro) led us to conduct research in order to determine tourism contribution to the overall economic growth. Based on the modified methodology used by Brida et al. (2008) for calculating real GDP growth rates and tourism contribution to the overall economic growth, the paper indicates that tourism makes a modest direct contribution to the overall economic growth in the examined countries, regardless of the continuous increase in the number of foreign tourist arrivals. The level of tourism contribution to the overall economic growth varies and it is primarily related to diversity and quality of supply (the highest contribution is recorded in Montenegro, while lowest contribution is observed in Macedonia).

In addition to this perspectivethis paper intends to assess and evaluate the existing potentiality and development of tourism industry of Birisiri (Netrokona District) of Bangladesh and also the applicability of pragmatic governmental management policy from various changing urgency.

Tourism and Economic Growth in Malaysia: Evidence from Tourist Arrivals from Asean-S Countries

This paper examined the causal relationship between tourism and economic growth in Malaysia by using panel time-series approach. Results from the panel coi ntegration analysis suggest the existence of cointegration between international tourism receipts and real economic growth. Results of the panel causality test based on the error correction model show Granger causality running from international tourism receipts to real economic growth indicating the existence of both short- and long-run relationship between the two. The results provide evidence of the significance contribution of tourism industry to Malaysia's economic growth justifying the necessity of public intervention in providing tourism infrastructure and facilities.

A Bound Test Approach to Cointegration of Tourism Demand

Problem statement: Given the high contribution of tourism industry in the Malaysian economy, Malaysia has a vast view to increase its market share of the international tourist arrivals in the Asia Pacific region. Therefore, this study attempts to investigate the long run and short run demand for tourism from top ten markets (country). Approach: To accomplish this objective the ARDL bound test approach to cointegration was carried out for quarterly time series data from 1998:Q1 to 2007: Q3. A three-stage procedure followed to test the direction of causality. In the first stage the order of integration was tested using the Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) and Phillips Perron (PP) unit root tests. The second stage involved testing for the existence of a long-run equilibrium relationship between arrivals, income, tourism price, tourism substitute price and travel cost. The third stage involved constructing standard Granger-type causality tests augmented with a lagged error-correction term where the series were cointegrated. Results: The result of ADF and PP unit root tests confirmed that all variables were stationary at first difference. In addition the results indicated that a long run relationship and between variables. Conclusion: The results indicated that tourists from these ten countries seem to be highly sensitive to the price and the alternative destinations are complementary to Malaysia. In addition the results showed that the outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS, 2003) had a negative affects significantly affected Malaysia’s tourism demand.
