SOLUTIONS TO BRING HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL RELICS OF DUC HOA DISTRICT, LONG AN PROVINCE TO CONTRIBUTE TO LOCAL ECONOMIC AND TOURISM DEVELOPMENT

With the advantage of being close to two large cities, Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong province, Duc Hoa district, Long An province has taken advantage of developing short-term tourism and weekend tourism to serve the needs of residents of these two cities. In order to contribute to the development of local tourism economy targeting short-term and weekend tourists, historical relics in the area need to be invested more in terms of exhibits; linked with other tourist destinations to become suitable routes for each group of tourists; have a fixed schedule of explanations at the relics on weekends; investing in building and operating a clean and spacious toilet system; informing, propagating and promoting the relics and routes widely on the media; combining with points of sale and restaurants to promote local dishes and specialties to attract tourists to visit and stay locally.

China–ASEAN Tourism Economic Relationship Network: A Geopolitical Risk Perspective

Despite extensive research on the network structure of tourism destinations, literature on the spatial network structure of cross-border tourism–economic connections is relatively limited, specifically the complex geopolitical relationship between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Thus, in this study we explored the relevant characteristics and influencing factors of the spatial structure of tourism economic networks. The results first indicate that the China–ASEAN tourism economic network exhibits distinct stage characteristics, with an ‘N’-shaped fluctuating growth trend, evolving from a point-like network to a multipolar development in spatial structure. In addition, China demonstrates a distinctive personality in the network and occupies a central leadership position. Secondly, an analysis of influencing factors shows that institutional distance and geographic distance have a significant impact on the network. Geopolitical risk plays a notable indirect moderating role in the network through its association with tourism policies and regulations, tourism promotion, and cooperation. This further reveals the diverse pathways through which geopolitical risk affects the network, providing a novel perspective for research on the tourism economic network.

Driving economic success: Fintech, tourism, FDI, and digitalization in the top 10 tourist destinations

Economic growth in leading tourist destinations faces challenges requiring investment, technological advancement, and resource management. This study examines the impact of tourism, Fintech, FDI, and digitalization on economic growth in Austria, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Turkey, the UK, and the USA. These countries, identified by UNWTO for 2022, represent 46% of the global tourism market. Utilizing yearly data from 2010 to 2022 from sources like the World Bank, Crunchbase, and UNWTO, we apply Pooled OLS, PCSEs, FGLS, and Two-Step GMM models using Stata v17.0. Additionally, Necessary Condition Analysis (NCA) was conducted using SmartPLS v.4.3 software. Our findings reveal that Fintech, tourism, FDI, and digitalization significantly contribute to economic growth, with varying degrees of impact across different models. Specifically, digitalization and tourism demonstrate the most substantial positive effects, while FDI and Fintech also play crucial roles. The study highlights the necessity of integrating these factors to foster sustainable economic growth in top tourist destinations. These results provide actionable insights for policymakers, stakeholders, and government officials, emphasizing the importance of strategic investments in Fintech, tourism, FDI, and digital infrastructure to enhance economic performance. The implications of this research extend to informing policy formulation and strategic decision-making aimed at leveraging technological advancements and investments for sustained economic development in major tourist economies.

Attractiveness of tourist destinations and collaborative tourism governance on Revisit Intention as a support for the tourism economy of the Paropo area of Dairi Regency with Tourist Experience as an Intervening Variable

The challenge of tourism is how to create tourists who are loyal to tourist destinations because every corner of tourism has an impact on the economy for the business community in the tourist destination area, if tourist visitors enjoy their tour and have the intention to return to visit the tour, it will have an impact on increasing the economy of the community located in tourist destinations. This research will be conducted in Sumatra Utaran precisely at the location of the paropo tourist spot in Dairi Regency with a population of paropo tourist visitors who have visited at least twice as many as 230 tourists, this research approach is quantitative with the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) model. This approach is able to test a model that is most ideal in estimating endogenous variables, the sampling technique in this study uses Non-probability sampling where sampling does not provide opportunities or opportunities for each element or member to be selected as a sample The analysis model used to test the hypothesis in this study is multiple regression analysis using the Smart PLS application Directly that the attractiveness of tourist destinations, collaborative tourism governance and tourist experience have a significant effect on Revisit Intention as a support for the tourism economy of the Paropo area of Dairi Regency. Directly that the attractiveness of tourist destinations and collaborative tourism governance have a significant effect on tourist experience as a support for the tourism economy of the Paropo area of Dairi Regency. Dispossession and beyond: Politics of rural land conversion in China's tourism villages

Across the peripheries of global South cities, projects to convert rural land for development purposes have brought dramatic impact on rural communities and environments. Many of these initiatives involve aggregating land, mobilizing investments, and resettling populations, with direct implications for villagers’ land rights and livelihoods. In existing studies, rural land conversions have often been examined through frameworks of “land grabbing” and “dispossession”. This paper argues for the need to go beyond these frameworks in conceptualizing the varied pathways and outcomes of rural land takings. It presents a comparative case study of two villages in China, whose land has been redeployed for tourism development. In one village, state-led expropriation led to the loss of land rights and the resettlement of villagers in new housing complexes. In another, villagers held onto land ownership and their property but saw intra-community inequalities amplified as residents were differentially incorporated into the tourism economy. By demonstrating how the nuanced mechanisms of land conversion could facilitate variegated livelihood and distributive outcomes between and within communities, this paper problematizes universalist conceptualizations of dispossession and calls for theorizing both “with” and “beyond” dispossession to account for the multifaceted dynamics of land development in global South contexts.

Implementasi dan Perkembangan Halal Tourism pada Destinasi Pariwisata Lombok

Lombok has long been touted as a "new Bali" tourism destination. Along with the changing times, changes in tourist trends also develop and begin to recognize various new types of tourism. Lombok has a uniqueness that is thick with Islamic nuances. Therefore, Lombok applies a type of Muslim-friendly tourism / halal tourism. Muslim-friendly tourism types have been implemented indirectly by tourism actors in Lombok. Visits to various tourism destinations in Lombok were taken as samples representing the city. With qualitative descriptive research methods, the author wants to present observations supported by exposure to documentation and interviews. The author also bases research on a theory tested in reality, especially in Lombok tourism destinations. Based on the study results, several Lombok tourism destinations still need help implementing Muslim-friendly tourism. Problems are known both from destination location factors and market segmentation factors. However, some locations have been found to have long-term development opportunities that make it possible to implement Muslim-friendly tourism as a whole through certain efforts. The fulfillment of the minimum requirements for Muslim-friendly tourism does not have a coercive nature but has the opportunity to influence tourists' interest in visiting. Therefore, the Lombok government, with Muslim-friendly tourism branding together with stakeholders, maintains and improves the quality of tourism services for the sustainability of Lombok's tourism economy.

Research on the Coupled and Coordinated Development of Tourism Informatization and Regional Tourism Economy in Jilin Province

This study is focused on developing an integrated coordination model designed to conduct an empirical assessment of the evaluation metrics and their respective weights concerning the tourism sector and regional economic growth in Jilin Province. By analyzing the level of coupling and coordination between these two domains, the findings indicate that, although the coordination level currently falls within the expected range, it remains suboptimal. This is primarily due to the relatively modest comprehensive evaluation scores of both the tourism informatization framework and the regional tourism economic system. To improve the level of coordination, this paper suggests several strategic measures. These include enhancing investments in information technology infrastructure and fostering the development of specialized talent. Such measures aim to effectively advance the synchronized development of the tourism sector and regional economic progress in Jilin Province.

Connections and Spatial Network Structure of the Tourism Economy in Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei: A Social Network Perspective

In the context of the coordinated development of Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei, examining the spatial connections and network structure characteristics of the tourism economy holds substantial theoretical and practical significance. This study constructs a tourism economic quality evaluation index system from four dimensions and optimizes the tourism economic gravity model by incorporating time distance and weight factors to dynamically simulate the intensity of tourism economic spatial connection (ITESC). Based on the new perspective of relational data, social network analysis is employed to investigate the spatial correlation network characteristics and group structure changes in the tourism economy within the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei urban agglomeration (BTHUA). The results demonstrate a significant improvement in overall tourism economic quality from 2013 to 2022, with the average quality increasing from 0.128 in 2013 to 0.157 in 2022. Tourism economic spatial connections are prevalent among cities, exhibiting heterogeneous characteristics, characterized by density in the north and relatively sparse in the south. The network cohesion of ITESC strengthens, and the network structure evolves from a highly centralized to a multi-centralized configuration, with increasingly frequent cooperation and interaction in tourism between cities. Beijing, Tianjin, and Shijiazhuang occupy central positions in the network, exhibiting strong ITESC and a high degree of connectivity, generating a significant “trickle-down effect” on peripheral cities. Consequently, strengthening ITESC between peripheral cities and core areas, as well as enhancing the bidirectional spillover of tourism development between cities, is crucial for the future sustainable and coordinated development of tourism in the BTHUA.

The Synergistic Evolution Characteristics and Influencing Factors of Tourism Economy and Urban Green Development Efficiency in the Yellow River Basin

In the context of the “ecological priority and green development” strategy, examining the co-evolution between the tourism economy and the efficiency of urban green development can offer both theoretical insights and quantitative foundations to support ecological preservation and high-quality development in China’s Yellow River Basin. This research utilized approaches such as the Haken model and the geographically and temporally weighted regression model to investigate the spatiotemporal patterns, synergistic characteristics, and driving factors of the tourism economy and urban green development efficiency within the Yellow River Basin. The findings reveal the following: (1) Regional disparities in the tourism economy are progressively widening, whereas the efficiency of green development tends to decline. Furthermore, both the tourism economy and urban green development efficiency display “high-high clustering” and “low-low clustering” spatially. (2) The synergistic evolution of the two systems displays spatial characteristics of transitioning from polarization to trickle-down effects. (3) Natural factors such as topography and vegetation coverage, as well as human economic factors like industrial structure and the degree of openness, positively promote the synergy. However, elements such as temperature, precipitation, economic development level, and openness to innovation have a certain inhibitory effect on the synergistic evolution.

Utilizing Static Pricing to Boost Room Revenue in Archipelago International Indonesia Hotels Group

Purpose: This research examines the implementation of static rates to increase room revenue at Archipelago International Indonesia Hotels Group. While the majority of Archipelago International management considers that dynamic rates are more effective at increasing room revenue, the impact of global economic events such as the Covid-19 pandemic, wars, and earthquakes (force majeure) has been underestimated. Static rates can be used to respond to economic downturns induced by these occurrences, which reduce demand. Research methods: This research uses qualitative research methodologies to assess current practices and offer ideal static rate models. It is supported by three concepts and theories: static rates, room revenue, and hotel management. This research also uses tourism economy and revenue management as theoretical foundations. Results and discussion: The findings highlight suboptimal implementation challenges and propose two models at Archipelago International Indonesia Hotels Group: (1) Static Rates Stand Alone: managed by the channel manager for a minimum two-night stay, beneficial for remote or pre-opening hotels, during low occupancy or economic downturns; and (2) Bundle Packages: combining room rates with other services to increase revenue and promote additional facilities. Implication: These models provide consistent pricing, improved forecasting, and increased brand awareness. Implementing these models can help Archipelago International optimize its revenue plans and financial performance.

OSTRICHES AND GEOTOURISM: THE EVOLUTIONARY PATHWAY OF A SMALL TOWN TOURISM DESTINATION IN SOUTH AFRICA

Small towns are a critical tier in the settlement hierarchy. For many small towns tourism is a vital sector of local development. This paper contributes an historical perspective on small town destination development. Using archival sources the paper provides a window on the evolutionary development of one small town tourism destination in South Africa. The case study is Oudtshoorn in the Western Cape. During the late 19th century and early 20th century Oudtsthoorn experienced phases of economic boom and bust which linked to international fashion and the trade in ostrich feathers. The imprint of this era is manifest in the town’s landscape of ‘feather palaces’. In terms of early 20th century tourism growth it is demonstrate d geotourism was a critical driver with the asset of Cango Caves. In the period after the Second World War, the local tourism economy diversifies with the revival and reorientation of ostrich farming which incorporates ostriches as tourism attractions. The evolutionary pathway of this small town changes such that its local tourism economy is anchored on the dual foundations of its geotourism and ostrich attractions.

Research on Commercialization Development of Flower Headdress Products in Quanzhou, Fujian under the Perspective of Internet Economy

This study takes the unique flower headdress product of Quanzhou Xunpu Village as the research subject, and explores the characteristics and strategies of its online publicity and offline services under the Internet economy mode. This study uses the fantasy theme analysis method and content analysis method to analyze the short videos on the theme of hairpin flowers, and uses the SWOT analysis method to discuss the advantages, disadvantages, opportunities, and challenges of the development of the hairpin flower industry, and draws the conclusions that the online publicity of the hairpin flower products in Quanzhou is homogenized, the offline services are caught in the low level of competition, and the development of the tourism economy has contributed to the dissolution of the local cultural traditions.

Development and Promotion of Military-Sports Tourism in Uzbekistan: Challenand Prospects

Military-sports tourism in Uzbekistan has emerged as a growing sector, yet its development is still in its early stages, with many untapped opportunities. Despite the country's rich natural and cultural resources, the lack of structured programs and limited awareness hampers its potential. This study addresses the gap by analyzing the current state of military-sports tourism and identifying areas for improvement. Utilizing qualitative methods, including interviews and document analysis, the research uncovers key challenges, such as inadequate infrastructure and minimal promotion efforts. Findings reveal that, while the sector is supported by government initiatives, more focused strategies are needed to enhance international and domestic tourist flow. The results highlight the importance of a comprehensive regulatory framework and targeted investment to improve tourism outcomes. These implications suggest that with proper development, military-sports tourism could significantly contribute to Uzbekistan's tourism economy and cultural visibility.

The Spatial–Temporal Evolution and Driving Factors of the Coastal Tourism Economy in China

Tourism has emerged as a pivotal element of China’s economic development, particularly within its coastal cities. This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of China’s coastal city tourism economic development, focusing on 53 coastal cities. Through a meticulous combination of literature analysis and data crawling, a robust database is constructed, encompassing tourism resources and revenues. This study delineates the spatial–temporal evolution pattern of China’s coastal city tourism development and employs geo-detector methods to quantitatively analyze the impact factors driving this evolution. Key findings reveal distinct trends in the coastal tourism economy of China from 2009 to 2019, characterized by spatial stability, similar trends in adjacent spatial units, and localized spatial structures. Notably, factors such as actual foreign investment, the presence of star-rated guesthouses, tourism industry employment, airport activity, and import–export trade volume exert significant influence on the domestic tourism economy. Similarly, tourism employment, airport activity, availability of star-rated hotels, import–export trade, and utilization of foreign capital emerge as influential factors shaping inbound tourism. Policy recommendations emphasize the need for government intervention to optimize tourism development strategies for coastal cities. This entails balancing resource exploitation with environmental protection and enhancing the quality of tourism services, fostering sustainable growth and long-term prosperity.

Spatiotemporal Evolution and Driving Forces of Tourism Economic Resilience in Chinese Provinces

This study focuses on the resilience of tourism economies in Chinese provinces, exploring their spatiotemporal evolution and driving forces as a crucial prerequisite for promoting the high-quality development of China’s tourism industry. We construct a resilience evaluation index system from four dimensions: resistance resilience, recovery resilience, reshaping resilience, and development resilience, using provincial tourism data from 2012 to 2022. The study employs Moran’s Index, kernel density estimation, and GIS technology to investigate the differentiation characteristics, spatial evolution processes, and spatial agglomeration characteristics of provincial tourism economic resilience in China. Finally, the GeoDetector model is used to analyze the driving factors. The findings are as follows: (1) Over time, most provinces and cities in China have shown varying degrees of improvement in tourism economic resilience, with different changes observed across the four dimensions. (2) Spatially, significant differences exist between provinces, with better resilience in the east than in the west and in the south than in the north. (3) Regionally, while no polarization is observed, there is a distinct differentiation between high and low-value areas. (4) Regional linkages indicate the presence of interregional associations in China’s tourism economic resilience, with non-uniform distribution of cold and hot spots. (5) Key driving factors include per capita railway mileage, domestic tourism revenue, the number of travel agencies, and the number of employees in accommodation and catering. Under the backdrop of rapid tourism economic development, improving infrastructure construction and enhancing the comprehensive strength of the tourism industry is vital for boosting tourism economic resilience.

Generation Z and Coffee Tourism Trends

This study aims to identify the preferences of Generation Z in choosing thematic coffee tourism in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, based on the concepts of Something to See, Something to Do, and Something to Buy. Using a mixed-method approach, this research involved 100 Generation Z respondents selected through purposive sampling. The collected data reveals that Generation Z favours coffee tourism experiences that are both educational and interactive, with coffee plantation landscapes, coffee harvesting and processing, and direct interactions with farmers and baristas as the main attractions. The findings also indicate that coffee tourism is not yet widely popular but has great potential if well-promoted. Respondents show a preference for coffee tourism packages priced between IDR 50,000 and IDR 100,000, with a tour duration of 1-3 hours. In conclusion, coffee-themed tourism designed with Generation Z preferences in mind can effectively introduce local coffee and support the development of Indonesia's tourism economy.

Tourism-induced land acquisition in protected areas: Land rent dynamics and state monopoly rent around the Wulingyuan world heritage site in China

Tension between nature conservation, green grabbing, land acquisition for tourism, and value grabbing highlight a significant yet understudied area: the underlying land rent mechanisms and the state's role in driving green land acquisition for tourism. Using Marxian land rent theory, we explored how ‘state monopoly rent’ is produced by tourism-induced green land acquisition and the consequent displacement and resettlement of communities in and around the Wulingyuan World Heritage. State actors actively acquired land and land use rights for tourism development to maximise the rent gap despite, and perhaps because of, national nature conservation priorities and restrictions. State actors are a key player in the political economy of tourism by directly capitalizing on potential land rent in China.

The Impact of Augmented Reality Tourism on Tourist Experience and Behavior —A Case Study of the Mogao Caves Cultural Heritage

Background and Aim: The Mogao Caves, representing the pinnacle of Chinese cave art evolution, enjoy esteemed historical significance. With backing from the local government's "Belt and Road" initiative and the establishment of the "Dunhuang Cultural Tourism Economic Circle," Mogao Caves tourism is undergoing high-quality development. However, the surge in tourist numbers has compromised the visitor experience, posing challenges to heritage conservation and tourism development balance. To address this, the Dunhuang Academy has integrated AR technology, safeguarded the heritage while enriched visitor experiences. This study aims to understand tourists' experiences and intentions in virtual Mogao Caves exploration, investigating factors influencing AR tourism experiences. By examining AR's impact and proposing management enhancements, this research contributes to Mogao Caves' sustainable development. Materials and Methods: This study utilizes a quantitative approach with two main stages: literature analysis and statistical analysis. Initially, it defines concepts and establishes the conceptual framework of AR technology by reviewing SOR theory, tourist experiences, behavioral intentions, and relevant studies. It then refines the SOR theory's origin, concept, characteristics, and application areas, analyzing variables such as stimulating factors, tourist experiences, and behavioral intentions. Research hypotheses are formulated, and a theoretical model is constructed. Offline questionnaires from 400 Mogao Caves AR tourists were collected, and data were analyzed using PLS-SEM. The study aims to understand the relationship between tourist experiences and behavioral intentions, analyze mediating effects, validate hypotheses, and confirm the structural model, offering reliable statistical support and a scientific basis for the findings. Results: The results indicate that in AR tourism, content quality, system quality, and interaction quality have a positive impact on tourist experiences. AR tourism experiences significantly influence behavioral intentions. Particularly surprising is that the impact of tourism experiences on behavioral intentions exceeds expectations, demonstrating its importance in AR tourism. This finding highlights the potential of AR technology in enhancing tourist experiences and provides new development opportunities for tourism destinations. Conclusion: AR technology holds immense promise for tourism development at the Mogao Caves heritage site. Factors like content, system, and interaction quality significantly enhance tourist experiences and behavioral intentions in AR tourism there. Quality content not only shapes a positive brand image but also opens up commercial and collaborative opportunities. System stability ensures smooth AR experiences, while interactive design boosts engagement and spending. However, the potential negative impacts of AR technology on tourism require further exploration in future research.

Creating Community-Based Tourism Resilience

This paper explores the collaborative social development achieved between a university in Malang, an industrial paint manufacturer, and the slum community of Jodipan, situated alongside the Brantas River. This marginalised community has overcome significant challenges through applied service-learning projects, transforming it into a vibrant hub and major tourist attraction. These efforts highlight the profound impact of service learning on community development and building commercial resilience. Jodipan offers valuable lessons on grassroots developmental initiatives. Once a slum, it now plays a critical role in the local tourism economy, provisioning new commercial opportunities in the form of hospitality venues, homestays and the retailing of specialist handicrafts. This initiative underscores the importance of partnerships and social initiatives in creating meaningful impacts on disadvantaged communities. This study identifies service-learning as a crucial catalyst in Jodipan's revitalisation as a tourism attraction, drawing on existing literature to analyse its role in the community's transformation. The unique collaborative context of Jodipan's resilience-building efforts amidst poverty and environmental degradation is examined. By foregrounding Jodipan's remarkable experiences, this study demonstrates how service-learning can drive economic empowerment. The ultimate lesson is that community resilience and well-being involve the ability to withstand initial developmental shocks and adapt to new circumstances.
