Management of Island Tourism Destinations in Sidoarjo Regency

Lusi Island is one of the tourist destinations in Sidoarjo which is expected to become an environmentally friendly tourist destination with the theme of utilization, research, and conservation of mangroves. Lusi Island is not widely known by the public because visitors are still dominated by the Jabon sub-district and the surrounding area. This study aims to analyze and describe the management and constraints in the Management of Tourism Destinations on Lusi Island in Sidoarjo Regency. The research method used is a qualitative approach, data collected through observation, interviews and documentation, while the data sources are primary and secondary data. Informants who were determined by interview, the informants were UPT BPSPL Wilker staff, East Java Directorate General of PRL, Lusi Island Guard and Head of the Sidoarjo Regency Tourism Office, data analysis derived from Miles and Huberman data, namely through data collection, data, data presentation and conclusions. The results of this study indicate that the process of managing Lusi Island has not been maximized because there are several inhibiting factors. As for some of these factors, there is no government intervention in the process of maintaining and developing the island and there is no legality on the island of Lusi in Sidoarjo Regency.

Visiting Intentions toward Theme Parks: Do Short Video Content and Tourists’ Perceived Playfulness on TikTok Matter?

TikTok, along with other social media platforms, has emerged as one of the most important tools for many people, particularly millennials. Because the relationship between social media and customers’ behavioral intentions has long been a topic of discussion in the hospitality industry, the purpose of this study was to look into the potential determinants of customers’ visiting intentions toward Universal Studios Beijing on short video platforms such as TikTok. In addition, descriptive analysis was also conducted to show the demographic and other basic characteristics of the sample. The findings revealed that social interaction, informativeness, and trust had significant effects on perceived usefulness, as well as significant influences on the related visiting intentions from the perceived usefulness, ease of use, and playfulness. This study filled in the research gaps of the TikTok studies based on the extended technology acceptance model (TAM) and explored the effects of perceived playfulness on the theme park. This study can contribute to the formulation of operational and marketing strategies by theme park marketers, help internet vloggers with content creation and development, and provide suggestions to local governments for tourism destination management.

PENGEMBANGAN DIGITAL MARKETING WISATA BOYOLAYAR-KEDUNG OMBO PADA MASA PANDEMI COVID-19

Boyolayar Tourism is one of the tourist destinations in the Kedung Ombo reservoir area, which was forced to close due to the Covid 19 pandemic. The implementation of PPKM has resulted in no visitors to this tourist destination, resulting in abandoned locations and tourist rides and declining popularity. Therefore, intensive promotion is needed to help restore the popularity of Boyolayar tourism and encourage tourists to come. This PKM activity aims to help tourist destination managers re-strengthen Boyolayar's tourist attractions through the development of digital promotional media. Activities carried out to include 1. counseling on digital marketing for tourism; 2. training on account creation and social media content management, and 3. development of the Boyolayar tourist village website. The methods used are lecture, discussion, and practice. The activity was followed by the manager of the Boyolayar tourist village and carried out in one of the Boyolayar tourist spots for six days. The activity has resulted in 1. understanding of the management of the Boyolayar tourism village about the importance of digital-based marketing and promotion; 2. the formation of interesting and informative Facebook and Instagram social media accounts; and 3. the establishment of the Boyolayar website.

Analysing Urban Tourism Accessibility Using Real-Time Travel Data: A Case Study in Nanjing, China

This study aimed to evaluate the spatial accessibility of tourism attractions in the urban destination city. An analytical framework for assessing urban tourism accessibility at different spatial scales was proposed to provide references on the interaction of urban transport and tourism systems. In addition to the travel time-based measure, a modified gravity model integrating the tourism destination attractiveness, urban transport system characteristics, and tourist demand distribution was developed to evaluate tourism accessibility in this study. Real-time travel data obtained from the Web Maps service were used to take the actual road network operation conditions into consideration and improve the accuracy of estimation results. Taking Nanjing as an example, the analysis results revealed the spatial heterogeneity of tourism accessibility and inequality in tourism resource availability at different levels. Road transport service improvement plays a dominant role in increasing tourism accessibility in areas with insufficient tourism resources, such as the outskirts of the destination city. As for areas with abundant attractions, authorities could pay attention to destination attractiveness construction and demand management in addition to the organization and management of road network operations around attractions during holidays. The results of this study provide a potentially valuable source of information for urban tourism destination management and transport management departments.

Strategic nets in tourism destinations: Investigating the learning processes underpinning dynamic management capabilities

Managing a tourism destination is fraught with complexity, with a general consensus that no single entity can manage the comprehensive multiplicity of stakeholders and offerings involved. In this study we take a unique approach by examining tourism destination management through a strategic net lens, where the Destination Management Organisation (DMO) is an intentionally developed strategic net involving a restrictive group of stakeholders, which coordinates and manages the value creating activities of actors in the destination.Our empirical findings are based on the investigation of three strategic net case sites within the Irish tourism industry. We identify net partnering, net visioning and net orchestration capability, which generate and modify operating routines, by integrating, building, and reconfiguring the resources and capabilities of network actors. These dynamic capabilities are developed through the co-evolving learning processes of experience accumulation, knowledge articulation and knowledge codification. Our study contributes to a better understanding of how strategic nets operate, the dynamic capabilities required for the net to function, and the learning processes which underpin them.

THE INFLUENCE OF TOURISM IMPACTS AND DESTINATION SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY ON SUPPORT FOR TOURISM DEVELOPMENT: A CONCEPTUAL MODEL

Support for tourism development is a novel idea that is regarded as one of the most current trends in tourism literature; it is still a developing research subject in various regions of the world. Saudi Arabia is an appropriate emerging economy to explore tourism development. This study contributes to the literature by investigating the support for tourism development and its determinants in Saudi Arabia after the Kingdom opened its doors to tourism in late 2018. By combining the social exchange theory and stakeholder theory, this article proposes a conceptual model to explore the moderating effect of destination social responsibility on the relationship between tourism impacts and support for tourism development. The study proposes distributing a self-administered questionnaire to the respondent residents in order to acquire data on support for tourist development and other variables. The proposed conceptual model could be very useful; it can help tourism development organizations adopt tourism planning and sustainable tourism policies, destination management and social responsibility policies, or develop strategies and policies for more sustainable tourism, as well as create benefits for residents.

A Proposed DISE Approach for Tourist Destination Crisis Management

Novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has had a huge impact on the global tourism industry over the past couple of years. Most previous studies investigated tourism crises after the pandemic period. Hence, to minimize the research gap, the present study investigates the impact of COVID-19 on tourism during the pandemic period. By assessing this impact, this paper proposes a D (big data) I (impact module) S (strategy module) E (evaluation module) model to cope with the crisis in order to bring about feasible implications for tourism practitioners and governments. This paper is to provide real-time destination management adjustments. This model is based on a crisis management framework and governance theory through retrieving big data from China Unicom and major travel information delivery sources. The major finding shows that the detailed time points of pandemic information release in the early stage of crisis. In conclusion, through proposing a DISE model, the present study assesses the impact of the major emergency public health crisis, assists destination managers in adjusting tourism-related policy and reflects the priority of recovering tourism after the crisis for effective tourist destination management.

PELATIHAN KELOMPOK SADAR WISATA (POKDARWIS) MELALUI KEGIATAN TATA KELOLA DESTINASI PARIWISATA DI KAB SERANG

Serang Regency consists of 326 villages. The existence of villages has the potential for tourist attractions such as nature, culture, culinary and creative economy, but most of the villages have not used them as tourist destinations. Therefore, the community plays an important role in utilizing and managing tourist attractions, one of the institutions at the village that is engaged in tourism is the Tourism Awareness group (Pokdarwis), which acts as a motivator and communicator in an effort to increase the readiness and awareness of the community around the tourist attraction. Training activities aimed at Pokdarwis throughout Serang Regency in order to strengthen knowledge about Tourism Destination Management. The training method are presentation, Forum Group Discussion (FGD), brainstorming and evaluation. The results of this training are expected that pokdarwis have knowledge and be able to implementation in their village.

<p class="Text">Management of tourism destinations and suppliers is a big challenge. So many modules need to be coordinated, such as command and dispatching module, business management module, electronic monitoring module, security module, traffic management module, resource management module, tourist service module, and marketing promotion module. So many supporting elements need to be ensured to work well such as infrastructure and data. So many opinions from different groups need to be harmonized, such as tourists, market, enterprise and government.</p><p class="Text">In this issue, studies about management in smart tourism were collected. These cases include related research about China and Latin America. They used to be published in Chinese or Spanish. It our honor to have their authorization to translate and republish on <em>Smart Tourism</em>. Detailed suggestions and innovations are provided here. Vegetation Index and Mangrove Forest Utilization through Ecotourism Development in Dodola and Guraping of North Maluku Province

This study analyzes the vegetation index and mangrove forest utilization through ecotourism development in Guraping and Dodola Island of North Maluku Province. This research uses a remote sensing approach through Landsat 8 Operational Land Imagery (OLI) from 2013 and 2021, calculated based on the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) algorithms. This study indicates that ecotourism development can preserve the mangrove forest and generate economic and social benefits for the local community. Otherwise, the vegetation index in mangrove areas from 2013 to 2021 needs to be considered seriously as the primary data to optimize the management of tourism destinations. In the case of Dodola Island, the increased number of vegetation in 2017 experienced significant changes and threatened the sustainability of mangrove ecotourism. Thus, the mangrove monitoring needs to be optimized to anticipate the unsustainability of mangroves, which determines the sustainability of tourism in North Maluku Province. This study offers an idea to involve the local community in conserving the mangrove area through a controlled and sustainable rehabilitation program instead of economic activity purposes. The findings indicate that the existing condition of the Guraping mangrove forest in 2021 is classified as moderate compared with mangrove ecotourism in Dodola Island with sparse criteria based on the Decree of the Minister of State for the Environment in 2004. This research suggests adopting the community-based ecotourism mangrove development through collaborative advantages of all tourism stakeholders.

Authenticity in industrial heritage tourism sites: Local community perspectives

Our research addresses the perceived authenticity by the local community, as a means of enhancing Industrial Heritage Tourism. It aims to explore the influence of perceived authenticity in the future intentions of the local community, concerning a heritage tourism destination. Data was collected from São João da Madeira residents, Portugal, and the sample consisted of 389 respondents. The statistical technique applied was the structural equation model (SEM). Our findings suggest that perceived heritage plays a significant role in residents’ attitudes towards tourism development support, their own participation ideals, and their attachment to the place. These findings will contribute to both practical and theoretical research, as they aim to enhance current knowledge on residents’ perceived authenticity, being an understudied approach; furthermore, it offers a valuable opportunity to consider residents in the management and planning of an industrial tourism destination. This study analyses the outcomes of the obtained results. Additionally, it presents the main limitations, suggests future lines of research, and provides practical and theoretical data for both public and private entities, aiming at future improvements in the development of industrial heritage tourism.

Global Principles of Sustainable Tourism Development Ecological, Economic and Cultural


 Indonesia is known as a country that has the beauty of the natural panorama of the sea and land and also invaluable cultural resources for the development of national tourism, in order to realizing the welfare and prosperity of the people as mandated by the1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia. This research focus on discuss Global Principles of Sustainable Tourism Development and Sustainable Tourism Development Policy in Bali Province and to analyze the management of tourism destination in KSPN Kintamani-Lake Batur. This research is a normative legal research. The data used are primary and secondary data. The result explaine that the main economic sector in Bali, on the one hand, tourism performance is required to reduce the negative impact of tourism development. Nationally, with the enactment of Law Number 10 of 2009 concerning Tourism and Government Regulation Number 50 of 2011 concerning the National Tourism Development Master Plan (RIPKN), the Bali Provincial Government is required to prepare a Regional Tourism Development Master Plan (RIPKD) as stated in Bali Provincial Regulation No. 10 of 2015 concerning the Bali Provincial Tourism Development Master Plan for 2015-2029, which contains visions, directions, and plans that direct the development of tourist areas in Bali.

Pengembangan Budidaya Tanaman Sayuran dengan Sistem Hidroponik sebagai Atraksi Wisata di Destinasi Wisata Muara Selayar Desa Pijot

Pijot Village has very important marine tourism potential, because it is the closest gateway to enter the Pink Beach tourist areas and 27 Gili through the waters. This potential increases with the operation of the Mandalika International Circuit, because Pijot Village as one of the Buffer Villages has an important role to support tourism development on the island of Lombok. One of the tourist areas that can be developed in Pijot Village is the Ar Muara Selayar tourist area. However, the tourism potential of the village is still not well organized, not sustainable, and still partial. Muara Selayar area is a coastal area, where horticultural plants cannot grow properly due to the type of soil and high demand for fresh water. Meanwhile, one of the obstacles in this area is the lack of fresh water supply. For this reason, the development of hydroponics is a solution to these problems. The development of vegetable cultivation with a hydroponic system can have two functions, namely meeting the need for fresh vegetables for the needs of the community and tourist areas and at the same time becoming an attractive tourist attraction. Where tourists can pick the desired vegetables themselves and buy from the community or also meet the needs of culinary processing in this tourist area. This service activity aims to provide training and assistance in the development of vegetable cultivation with a hydroponic system. To achieve this target, a Participatory Rural Appraisal approach is used which emphasizes community involvement in all activities starting from planning, implementing and evaluating programs. This activity is divided into three, namely: 1) socialization on the establishment and management of tourist destinations and attractions; 2) demonstration plot for developing vegetable cultivation with a hydroponic system; and 3) assistance in managing the Muara Selayar Tourism destination in Pijot Village. This activity was carried out in partnership with two target groups, namely Pokdarwis and the Pijot Village PKK Group. The result of this activity is the formation of a PKK group that is able to maintain hydroponic vegetable plants to serve as a food source, as well as make it a tourist attraction. After doing this activity the target group is able to meet their daily vegetable needs continuously.

The affective impact of sightseeing bus tour experiences: using Affective Events Theory (AET) to examine length-of-stay and electronic word-of-mouth

ABSTRACT This study investigates the key components and influences of positive affect and electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) on tourist visits at two developing urban destinations, namely Birmingham, United Kingdom and Valencia, Spain. These two data collection sites yielded evidence gathered from 615 and 627 sightseeing bus tourists, respectively. Through the analytic lens of Affective Events Theory (AET), data were examined, and results verify the significant mediating role of affect in two regards: (1) tourists’ decision to extend their visits and (2) eWOM of sightseeing bus tour experiences. The moderating role of past sightseeing experiences in these relationships was also supported by the data analysis. This paper further strengthens the role of affect in tourism management scholarship as well as expands AET from the work-setting into the tourism context thus marking a new research trail. Practical implications for tourism destination management organizations (DMOs) are also discussed.

The Influence of Environmental and Non-Environmental Factors on Tourist Satisfaction in Halal Tourism Destinations in West Sumatra, Indonesia

This study aims to investigate the influence of environmental and non-environmental factors on tourist satisfaction in halal tourism destinations in West Sumatra. The environmental factor is perceived environmental value. Meanwhile, non-environmental factors are halal-friendly destination performance, sustainability tourism development, and halal destination image. The survey was conducted by distributing questionnaires to 690 respondents who visited halal tourism destinations in West Sumatra. It was analyzed by using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM)—Partial Least Square (PLS). The results indicate environmental factors (perceived environmental values) and non-environmental factors (halal-friendly destination performance, sustainable tourism development, and halal destination image influence tourist satisfaction. Moreover, sustainability tourism development mediates the effect of perceived environmental value on tourist satisfaction. However, sustainability tourism development does not mediate the effect of halal-friendly destination performance on tourist satisfaction. Meanwhile, the halal destination image does not moderate the effect of sustainability tourism development on satisfaction. Thus, our research can be used as a reference for tourist destination managers to increase tourist satisfaction by maintaining and managing the tourist destination environment properly.

Analysis of The Effect of Experience and Trust on The Tourism Economy After The Phenomenon of KKN DESA PENARI

The development of the tourism sector in Indonesia has increased significantly. It is due to several factors such as government policies and marketing aspects of the tourism destination managers. This study aims to analyze, test, and determine the impact of experience and trust variables on economic development, especially in the tourism economy. In this study, the tourism economy is seen in revisit intention, which impacts increasing tourist visits. The study was conducted after collecting related data and evidence. The research site is in Banyuwangi, the city where the phenomenon of KKN Desa Penari takes place. The research population and sample were the millennial generations who visited the city of Banyuwangi. The sample calculation employed was Machin's Formula. Therefore, the number of samples was found to be 147 respondents. The sampling technique utilized is accidental sampling. Furthermore, the data collection technique was by distributing online questionnaires. The results showed that Experience and Trust significantly positively affected revisit intention.

Study on Tourism Consumer Behavior and Countermeasures Based on Big Data.

In our study, through consulting, summarizing, and analyzing a large number of related literature studies on tourism consumer behavior, tourism big data, text data analysis, and so on, a framework of research ideas on tourism consumption was constructed. The train browser, NLPIR, and other software packages are used to crawl, preprocess, and mine the travel sample data, and the word frequency analysis, co-occurrence analysis, content analysis, sentiment analysis, network analysis, and other methods are used to analyze the characteristics and decision-making behavior of tourists. Based on the results of behavioral analysis, we proposed tourism development strategies from three aspects: reforming and promoting tourism marketing strategies, improving tourism product and service quality, and improving tourism destination management methods. The results show that (1) for the tourist characteristics, taking into account the factors of climate and geographical location, the domestic market is divided into four grades of markets, and different marketing strategies are adopted according to different market characteristics; (2) for the tourism decision-making behavior, a “push-pull resistance” tourism decision-making model was established through word frequency analysis, co-occurrence analysis, and content analysis; (3) for the tourism consumption preferences, through network analysis of scenic spots, it is found that there are three tourist routes preferred by tourists; and (4) for the tourism perception evaluation behavior, based on the “cognitive-emotional” model, this study describes the tourism image from the two dimensions of the cognitive image and emotional image. Generally speaking, tourists show a positive perception state. The research on tourism consumer behavior based on UGC (user-generated content) data can help scenic spots and other tourism companies to understand the characteristics and rules of tourists' behavior, understand the consumption preferences of different tourism groups, develop diversified tourism products, improve the quality of tourism services, and further cater to market segments. This research provides a new idea for tourist attractions and tourism management departments to monitor tourist behavior through big data analysis.

How can destination competitiveness play an essential role in small island sports tourism development? Integrated ISM-MICMAC modelling of key factors

PurposeThis paper aims to identify factors that affect the sports tourism destination's competitiveness on a small island. Hence, this study looks at and evaluates these factors. The study then comes up with a model that clarifies the interrelationships between these factors.Design/methodology/approachThe authors broke down the data analysis process into three steps. The first step was to conduct a literature review and use industry and academia experts' help to determine the essential aspects (fuzzy Delphi method). Then, a hierarchical model was developed, and the factors were categorised using the interpretive structural modelling (ISM) approach. Factors' driving and dependency power were also determined using MICMAC analysis.FindingsThis work has identified 13 key factors related to the sports tourism destination's competitiveness on a small island. For a small island like Kish Island, the two independent variables (government support and destination political stability) that define the institutional framework for the destination are most important. Building corresponding competitive and support strategies to address these two independent variables is thus beneficial.Research limitations/implicationsThe research's results provide decision-makers, practitioners, and researchers with new insights into the hierarchical model of determinants. The study will fill the existing gap between theory and practice.Practical implicationsSports tourism destination managers on small islands may benefit from the proposed model since the model will enable them to organise the managers' priorities better to enhance the managers' destinations' competitiveness and provide tourists with a more accurate depiction of the destination.Originality/valueAccording to the authors' knowledge, the research design presented in this article has provided the first attempt to hierarchical analyse these factors and develop a model for sports tourism destination competitiveness on small islands and destinations with less-developed economies. This study fills the gap in the destination competitiveness and sports tourism literature by not only identifying the key influencing factors but also examining the interactions between these factors and providing empirical evidence supporting their relationships.

THE ROLE OF TOURISM DESTINATION MANAGEMENT ORGANIZATIONS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF TOURISM ACTIVITIES

The increasing competitiveness between local, regional, national and international tourism destinations has determined the parties involved in the tourism industry (local, central authorities, tourism service providers) to initiate a series of actions that would contribute to the diversification of tourism offers and obtaining economic advantages and not only. In this regard, destination management organizations have responded to the need of stakeholders by providing some opportunities for the development of the tourism destination. Among the activities performed by the destination management organizations the following can be mentioned: the elaboration of some plans for the sustainable development of tourism activities in a certain tourism area, the collaboration with the providers of tourism services, the identification of some competitive advantages, the promotion of the image of the tourism destination and the creation of a brand image, the provision of information to all stakeholders, the creation of some authentic tourism products, which would offer unique experiences to tourists, ensuring the well-being of the local community and offering strategic alternatives, which would ensure the sustainability of tourism activities. This paper aims to provide insight into the role of tourism destination management organizations.
