Physical Therapy in Neurorehabilitation with an Emphasis on Sports: A Bibliometric Analysis and Narrative Review.

The increasing interest in physical therapy in sports neurorehabilitation stems from the high incidence of neurological injuries among athletes and the crucial role of rehabilitation in facilitating their safe return to sports. This study aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of research trends in physical therapy and neurorehabilitation in athletes. This study presents a bibliometric analysis of 103 documents from the Scopus database, followed by a narrative review of the identified thematic areas. Together, these approaches offer a comprehensive overview of the international literature on the application of physical therapy in sports neurorehabilitation, highlighting key trends and contributors. The software VOSviewer and Power BI (2.136.1202.0) were used for the bibliometric analysis and the visualization of the results. Techniques such as performance analysis (documents per year, top sources and countries in documents, and top authors in citations) and science mapping (co-authorship, bibliographic coupling, co-citation, and co-occurrence) were conducted. The results revealed the journals and the authors with the greatest impact in the field and collaborations between various countries. From the co-occurrence analysis of the keywords, three key thematic clusters were identified, Clinical Approaches and Outcomes in Neurorehabilitation, Athlete-Centered Neurorehabilitation Techniques, and Specialized Interventions in Sports Medicine and Neurorehabilitation, which were used to conduct the narrative review. These findings provide a solid foundation for future research and clinical practice aimed at enhancing recovery times and overall performance in athletes with neurological injuries.

Mapping the Mpox discourse: A network and sentiment analysis

Mpox, a zoonotic disease re-emerging from animals to humans, poses a risk of evolving into a global pandemic due to its high infectivity and potential asymptomatic transmission. This study maps the structure and configuration of mpox-related discussions on Twitter/X, identifies key influencers and top hashtags, and analyzes public sentiment. Data were collected using NodeXL Pro from May 7, 2022, to January 15, 2023, with the keyword “Monkeypox” and visualized using Gephi. Social network analysis ranked nodes by betweenness centrality scores to highlight key communicators, and the YifanHu layout algorithm visualized the network. Influential users, source topics, and hashtags were identified, and sentiment analysis was conducted using Azure Machine Learning tools. The analysis identified 11,397 mpox-related tweets. The network structure resembled a community with diverse participants. Influential users included health and science journalists, writers, academics, medical doctors, and public figures. News media and organizational websites were the top information sources, emphasizing the need for accessible scientific information. “Monkeypox” and “Mpox” were the most prevalent hashtags. Negative sentiments dominated the discussion. This analysis provides insights into network structure, key influencers, information sources, and public sentiment, aiding tailored health initiatives to address misinformation and advocate valid health information and emergency responses.

Biomass-burning sources control ambient particulate matter, but traffic and industrial sources control volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions and secondary-pollutant formation during extreme pollution events in Delhi

Abstract. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and particulate matter (PM) are major constituents of smog. Delhi experiences severe smog during the post-monsoon season, but a quantitative understanding of VOCs and PM sources is still lacking. Here, we conduct a source apportionment study for VOCs and PM using a recent (2022), high-quality dataset of 111 VOCs, PM2.5, and PM10 in a positive matrix factorization (PMF) model. Contrasts between clean monsoon air and polluted post-monsoon air, VOC source fingerprints, and molecular tracers enabled us to differentiate paddy residue burning from other biomass-burning sources, which had previously been impossible. Burning of fresh paddy residue, as well as residential heating and waste burning, contributed the most to observed PM10 levels (25 % and 23 %, respectively) and PM2.5 levels (23 % and 24 %, respectively), followed by heavy-duty vehicles fuelled by compressed natural gas (CNG), with a PM10 contribution of 15 % and a PM2.5 contribution of 11 %. For ambient VOCs, ozone formation potential, and secondary-organic-aerosol (SOA) formation potential, the top sources were petrol four-wheelers (20 %, 25 %, and 30 %, respectively), petrol two-wheelers (14 %, 12 %, and 20 %, respectively), industrial emissions (12 %, 14 %, and 15 %, respectively), solid-fuel-based cooking (10 %, 10 %, and 8 %, respectively), and road construction (8 %, 6 %, and 9 %, respectively). Emission inventories tended to overestimate residential biofuel emissions at least by a factor of 2 relative to the PMF output. The major source of PM pollution was regional biomass burning, while traffic and industries governed VOC emissions and secondary-pollutant formation. Our novel source apportionment method even quantitatively resolved similar biomass and fossil fuel sources, offering insights into both VOC and PM sources affecting extreme pollution events. This approach represents a notable advancement compared to current source apportionment approaches, and it could be of great relevance for future studies in other polluted cities and regions of the world with complex source mixtures.

Racial and Ethnic Differences in Sodium Sources and Sodium Reduction Behaviors among US Adults: NHANES 2017-2020 pre pandemic.

Background Nearly all US adults exceed sodium recommendations, which increases cardiovascular risk. Understanding racial and ethnic differences in sodium sources and behaviors could lead to nuanced public health messaging, dietary interventions, and clinical guidance to more equitably achieve population-level sodium reduction. Methods Using National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2017-2020 pre-pandemic data, racial and ethnic differences in sodium sources and sodium-related behaviors (e.g., salt use at the table and in food preparation, doctor advice to reduce sodium, attempts to reduce sodium, and label reading) were assessed using weighted chi-square. Given the nutrient database?s assumption that rice is salted may be inappropriate for some ethnic groups, we conducted a secondary analysis altering this assumption. Results Pizza, soup, and chicken were top sources of sodium across racial and ethnic groups. For Asian Americans, 4 top sources were unique (e.g., soy-based condiments). Black adults reported the highest rates of reducing sodium (67% vs. 44% among White adults) and receiving physician sodium reduction advice (35% vs.18% among Asian Americans). Asian Americans were the most likely to frequently use salt during food preparation (66% vs. Other Race adults 32%) but reported not using salt at the table (43% vs. 23% among Other Race adults). Assuming rice is unsalted reduces Asian American sodium intake estimates by ~325 mg/day. Conclusions While product reformulation targets and front-of-pack nutrition labeling may help reduce sodium intake across groups, to equitably address sodium intake, culturally appropriate advice on sources of sodium and salt usage may be needed, particularly for Asian Americans.

Bibliometric analysis for artificial intelligence in the internet of medical things: mapping and performance analysis.

The development of computer technology has revolutionized how people live and interact in society. The Internet of Things (IoT) has enabled the development of the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) to transform healthcare delivery. Artificial intelligence has been used to improve the IoMT. Despite the significance of bibliometric analysis in a research area, to the best of the authors' knowledge, based on searches conducted in academic databases, no bibliometric analysis on artificial intelligence (AI) for the IoMT has been conducted. To address this gap, this study proposes performing a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of AI applications in the IoMT. A bibliometric analysis of top literature sources, main disciplines, countries, prolific authors, trending topics, authorship, citations, author-keywords, and co-keywords was conducted. In addition, the structural development of AI in the IoMT highlights its growing popularity. This study found that security and privacy issues are serious concerns hindering the massive adoption of the IoMT. Future research directions on the IoMT, including perspectives on artificial general intelligence, generative artificial intelligence, and explainable artificial intelligence, have been outlined and discussed.

Identifying the Leading Sources of Saturated Fat and Added Sugar in U.S. Adults.

The 2020-2025 Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend limiting intakes of saturated fat and added sugars (SF/AS) to <10% total energy. Data-driven approaches to identify sources of SF/AS are needed to meet these goals. We propose using a population-based approach to identify the leading food and beverage sources of SF/AS consumed by US adults. Foods and beverages reported as consumed were assessed from two, 24 h dietary recalls (24HRDR) from 36,378 adults aged 19 years and older from the 2005-2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Intakes of SF/AS were aggregated across both 24HRDR to identify What We Eat in America food categories accounting for ≥90% of SF/AS, respectively, by the total population and within population subgroups. Data were weighted to estimate a nationally representative sample. Ninety-five discrete food categories accounted for ≥90% of the total SF/AS intakes for >88% of the representative sample of U.S. adults. The top sources of SF were cheese, pizza, ice cream, and eggs. The leading sources of AS were soft drinks, tea, fruit drinks, and cakes and pies. This analysis reflects a parsimonious approach to reliably identify foods and beverages that contribute to SF/AS intakes in U.S. adults.

Occupational Contact Dermatitis in Construction Workers: A Retrospective Analysis of the North American Contact Dermatitis Group Data, 2001-2020.

Background: Construction workers (CWs) are at risk for occupational contact dermatitis (CD) owing to workplace exposures. Objective: Determine the prevalence of occupational allergic CD and characterize common occupational allergens in CWs referred for patch testing in the United States and Canada. Methods: Retrospective cross-sectional analysis of patients patch tested by the North American Contact Dermatitis Group from 2001 to 2020. Results: Of 47,843 patch-tested patients, 681 (1.4%) were CWs. Compared with non-CWs, CWs were more likely to be male (91.0% vs 30.9%) have occupational skin disease (36.9% vs 11.4%) and have hand involvement (37.2% vs 22.5%) (all P < 0.0001). Of 681 CWs, 60.1% (411) had clinically relevant positive patch test reactions, and nearly 1/3 of CWs (128) had occupationally relevant reactions. Most common occupationally relevant allergens were potassium dichromate 0.25% pet. (30.5%, 39/128), bisphenol A epoxy resin 1% pet. (28.1%, 36/128), carba mix 3% pet. (14.8%, 19/128), cobalt (ii) chloride hexahydrate 1% pet. (14.1%, 18/128), and thiuram mix 1% pet. (14.1%, 18/128). Top sources of occupationally relevant allergens were cement/concrete/mortar (20.4%, 46/225), gloves (15.1%, 34/225), and coatings (paint/lacquer/shellac/varnish/stains) (9.8%, 22/225). Conclusions: Occupational CD in North American CWs is common. In this group, frequently identified etiological sources of occupational allergic CD included metals, epoxy resin, and rubber.

AI-Assisted yoga Asanas in the future using Deep Learning and Posenet

Yoga instructors have become teaching online due to the ongoing pandemic. Despite studying from top sources including videos, blogs, journals, and essays, users need live tracking to ensure proper posture and health. While technology can aid, beginner-level yoga practitioners rely on their teacher for identifying their proper posture. The main objective of yoga pose detection and corrections is to deliver standard and precise poses for yoga using computer vision. If the yoga pose is not performed correctly, it may lead to severe injuries and long-term problems. Analysing human positions to identify and fix yoga positions can help humans live better lives in their own homes. Our work focuses on experimenting with different approaches to yoga position classification, therefore using PoseNet . Using such algorithms of deep learning, a person can determine the correct/ideal way/method to perform the particular yoga asana he or she is attempting to perform. Halal products in Malaysia: a bibliometric analysis

Malaysia is considered a pioneer in the halal industry and still leading in halal market products. In this study, a literature search was conducted using the Scopus database to study the trends of halal products in Malaysia and identify well-established products as well as emerging niches. The data extracted from the Scopus database were analysed and then visualized using VOSviewer to determine top authors, articles, sources and halal products. A total of 252 publications were identified using the “Halal product Malaysia” keyword. Based on the analysis, research on the halal product was observed to be initiated in 2005 with a total of 31 authors and 18 sources published more than 3 documents. The analysis of sources revealed that the Journal of Islamic Marketing was the most prolific source. The results showed that research on halal products in Malaysia was dominated by food which was critical to the halal industry. The research on food products focused on securing the supply chain as well as halal certification. The bibliometric analysis also showed that Halal cosmetics is an emerging product in the halal industry with Islamic marketing as its tool for product commercialization especially in the last five years.

A topic modeling‐based bibliometric exploration of automatic summarization research

AbstractThe surge in text data has driven extensive research into developing diverse automatic summarization approaches to effectively handle vast textual information. There are several reviews on this topic, yet no large‐scale analysis based on quantitative approaches has been conducted. To provide a comprehensive overview of the field, this study conducted a bibliometric analysis of 3108 papers published from 2010 to 2022, focusing on automatic summarization research regarding topics and trends, top sources, countries/regions, institutions, researchers, and scientific collaborations. We have identified the following trends. First, the number of papers has experienced 65% growth, with the majority being published in computer science conferences. Second, Asian countries and institutions, notably China and India, actively engage in this field and demonstrate a strong inclination toward inter‐regional international collaboration, contributing to more than 24% and 20% of the output, respectively. Third, researchers show a high level of interest in multihead and attention mechanisms, graph‐based semantic analysis, and topic modeling and clustering techniques, with each topic having a prevalence of over 10%. Finally, scholars have been increasingly interested in self‐supervised and zero/few‐shot learning, multihead and attention mechanisms, and temporal analysis and event detection. Sources of free sugar in the diet of Saudi children.

Data concerning sources of free sugar (FS) in the diet of Saudi children are limited. Identification of the top sources of FS would permit to develop tailored interventions that aid in meeting the recommendations of the World Health Organization for FS (≤ 25 g/day). This study aimed to investigate sources of FS in children's diet. A cross-sectional data of healthy children ages between 6 and 12 years who reside in Saudi Arabia were gathered from their mothers using online platforms (WhatsApp, Facebook, and X) (n = 424; 210 boys and 214 girls). An interview was conducted through the phone with the mother and her child to collect data pertaining FS intake using a validated food frequency questionnaire. The primary sources of FS were Sweetened Beverages, followed by Sugars, Sweet Bakery Products, Other Desserts, and Candies, of which the added sugar consisted mostly of its total sugar. The consumption of FS coming from solid food sources for the highest quartile of children almost doubled the amount of FS coming from liquid food sources. Compared to boys, girls in the top quartile of FS intake consumed significantly higher amounts of solid sugars (p = 0.030). Only the intake of FS coming from Sweetened Beverages was associated negatively with age of children (p = 0.032). Public health interventions should emphasize the necessity of reducing the consumption of the top sources of FS to practically achieve the recommendations of FS intake.

Using tax records to correct for under‐representation of top income sources in surveys

AbstractTop incomes tend to be under‐represented in survey data, making survey income distributions unrepresentative of the true ones in terms of the amount of total income and, if some of its components (sources) are missing relatively more than others, in terms of the structure of total income by components. Since the correct structure is important for some analyses, correction is warranted. Using Croatian survey and tax records data, we show that the survey correction method of Blanchet, Flores and Morgan (2022), based on reweighting and replacement of top incomes using tax records data – which corrects total income – can fail to correct its structure by components. This happens when some income components – in our case, primarily capital income – are missing much more than others, making the structure substantially different from the correct one and difficult to correct through reweighting and replacement of total income. As a solution, we propose a pre‐correction and a post‐correction, each involving income replacement based on tax records data, as supplements to the Blanchet et al. method. Either supplement substantially improves the correction of both total income and its structure by source.

Abstract MP48: Consumption of Low-Calorie Sweeteners Among Infants, Toddlers, and Preschoolers in the United States, NHANES 2013-2018

Introduction: Research has highlighted the rising consumption of low-calorie sweeteners (LCSs) and their possible negative health implications. While the American Academy of Pediatrics advises against beverages with LCSs for children under 5y, little is known about current consumption patterns among infants and young children in the United States. Objectives: To estimate the prevalence, frequency, and top sources of LCS intake among U.S. infants and young children and to investigate associations between LCS consumption and energy and macronutrient intake. Methods: We used one 24-h dietary recall from 3117 children aged 0-5y in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2013-18 to describe the prevalence and their frequency of consuming foods and beverages containing LCSs. We also compared total energy and macronutrient intake as a proportion of total energy intake (TEI) between LCS consumers and non-consumers. Complex survey procedures and sample weights were applied for all analyses. F-tests were used to compare consumption estimates across sociodemographic subgroups. Results: Thirty percent of all U.S. children aged 0-5y consumed foods and/or beverages with LCSs, including 17.5% of infants (0-1y), 34.3% of toddlers (2 and 3y), and 34.5% of preschoolers (4 and 5y). Prevalence of LCS consumption tended to be highest among non-Hispanic Blacks children and those from households with higher educational attainment or a higher family income. Among consumers, mean frequency of any LCS product, LCS beverages (LCSBs) only, and LCS foods (LCSFs) only was 1.4, 1.4, and 1.1 times/day, respectively, and did not differ by age. The most consumed of all LCSBs were fruit drinks (71.9%) and the most consumed of all LCSFs was yogurt (not-Greek) (59.5%). Compared to non-consumers, LCS consumers had higher intake of total energy, 1516 vs. 1316 kcal/day (p&lt;.0001), carbohydrates, 54.0% vs 52.4% TEI (p=.0005), and added sugar, 3.3% vs. 2.1% TEI (p&lt;.0001) but significantly lower intake of total fat and saturated fat, 33.1% vs 34.9% TEI (p&lt;.0001) and 12.0% vs 13.1% TEI (p&lt;.0001), respectively. Conclusions: LCS consumption is prevalent among infants and young children in the U.S. and fruit drinks and yogurt are the main sources. These results highlight the need for further research to understand long-term implications of this consumption. Funding sources: None.

State of the science: A bibliometric study of associate degree nursing research and scholarship (1961-2023)

BackgroundSince their inception, associate degree nursing (ADN) programs have significantly contributed to the nursing workforce and higher education. Teaching and learning in nursing, established in 2006, has been a vital platform for disseminating ADN research. AimThis study aimed to evaluate the state of ADN science through bibliometrics to reveal the conceptual, intellectual, and social structures that influence ADN programs and policy. MethodsThis bibliometric study examined a corpus of data from 1961 to 2023. Data was sourced from Scopus, resulting in n = 453 entries. ResultsThe study revealed an annual growth rate of 4.09% in ADN-related articles and highlighted the critical contributions from top sources and authors. Foundational themes include self-efficacy, student retention, and simulation, with notable gaps in other research areas. The study revealed an increase in publications since 2006. ConclusionsThis research revealed the evolution of ADN-related publications and the need for continuous adaptation. Gaps in diversity, equity, inclusion, and evaluation practices pave the way for future-focused ADN research. The findings detailed a comprehensive overview of ADN scholarship to shape future academic inquiry.

Breathing on the job: investigating predictors of air quality protective actions and information seeking among outdoor workers

ABSTRACT Background Air quality issues, exacerbated by wildfire smoke and excessive ozone that is worsened by climate change, pose significant health risks to outdoor workers, who are often overlooked in regulatory protection and communication efforts. This study examined how outdoor worker demographics, risk perceptions, and efficacy beliefs predict air quality protective actions and information seeking. Additionally, it investigates the sources of information that this population relies on for understanding air quality. Method A survey was conducted with 256 outdoor workers in Colorado, a state regularly affected by wildfire smoke and ozone. Measures included demographics, perceived risk, efficacy beliefs, air quality actions, and information seeking behavior. Results Both perceived risk and efficacy beliefs influenced health-protective actions during poor air quality events. Interestingly, efficacy beliefs were found to be a more reliable predictor of air quality information seeking than perceived risk. The top sources of air quality information among outdoor workers were local news media, The Weather Channel, mobile apps, state public health authorities, and the National Weather Service. Conclusions These findings enhance our understanding of how perceived risk and efficacy beliefs promote health-protective behaviors among outdoor workers. They lay the groundwork for future research and initiatives to improve air quality communication and promote health-protective actions for this population group. Promoting the efficacy of health-protective actions and seeking information are important components of air quality communication.

Terahertz metamaterials for light-driven magnetism

Abstract We describe the design of two types of metamaterials aimed at enhancing terahertz field pulses that can be used to control the magnetic state in condensed matter systems. The first structure is a so-called “dragonfly” antenna, able to realize a five-fold enhancement of the impinging terahertz magnetic field, while preserving its broadband features. For currently available state-of-the-art table top sources, this leads to peak magnetic fields exceeding 1 T. The second structure is an octopole antenna aimed at enhancing a circularly-polarized terahertz electric field, while preserving its polarization state. We obtain a five-fold enhancement of the electric field, hence expected to exceed the 1 MV/cm peak amplitude. Both our structures can be readily fabricated on top of virtually any material.

Food sources of fiber and micronutrients of concern among infants and young children in Lebanon: a national cross-sectional study

BackgroundIntakes of fiber, iron, zinc, calcium, vitamin D, vitamin A, and folate were shown to be low in a substantial proportion of infants and children in Lebanon. The study aims to identify the top food sources of fiber, iron, zinc, calcium, vitamin D, vitamin A, and folate amongst infants and young children in Lebanon and to evaluate the evolution of food sources of these nutrients from the beginning of the complementary feeding journey up until the age of 47.9 months.MethodsA national cross-sectional survey was conducted in 2012 as part of the “Early Life Nutrition and Health in Lebanon” project using stratified cluster sampling. Dietary intakes for infants and young children aged 6-47.9 months (n = 763) were assessed using 24- Hour Dietary Recall. Food items were categorized into food groups and the percent contribution of each food group to nutrient intakes was determined to identify the top food sources of fiber and selected micronutrients for three age groups: 6-11.9 m (infants), 12-23.9 m (toddlers), and 24-47.9 m (preschoolers).ResultsThe top food source of fiber was vegetables among children aged 6-47.9 months. Among infants and toddlers, infant/young child formula was the main contributor to iron, zinc, calcium, vitamin D, vitamin A, and folate intakes. Baby cereals also contributed to around 14% of iron intakes among infants. Among preschoolers, meat and fish contributed to 13% of iron intakes and 29% of zinc intakes, while cow’s milk was the major contributor of calcium (41%), vitamin D (81%) and vitamin A (25%) intakes. Sweetened beverages and sweet bakery were also ranked among the major food sources contributing to substantial intakes of key nutrients, including fiber, iron, zinc, calcium, vitamin A, and folate among infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.ConclusionsIn addition to milk sources, vegetables, beans and legumes, breads, meats, and rice and pasta, sweet bakery and sweetened beverages have contributed to intakes of key nutrients from early ages. This calls for implementing initiatives and designing approaches to support nutrition education and improve nutrient intakes in infancy and early childhood.

Text mining analysis of scientific literature on digital intraoral scanners in dentistry: Bibliometric analysis.

This study aimed to provide valuable insights into the current research status and gaps in digital intraoral scanner literature in dentistry. Scopus Search Query TITLE-ABS-KEY (intraoral AND scanners AND (dentistry OR digital AND dentistry)). The search query used in Scopus for the bibliometric analysis was "TITLE-ABS-KEY (intraoral AND scanners AND (dentistry OR digital AND dentistry))." This query indicates that the analysis focused on documents in which the title, abstract, or keywords contained the terms "intraoral," "scanners," and either "dentistry" or "digital dentistry." The analysis covers a timespan from 1998 to 2023 and includes 331 documents sourced from 136 publications. The annual growth rate of research in this field is reported to be 15.9%, indicating a steady increase over time. Among the top sources, the "Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry" and the "Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry" have the highest number of articles, indicating their significance in the field. Some notable authors and their corresponding statistics include WÖSTMANN B, with 15 articles and a fractionalized value of 3.16, and SCHLENZ MA, with 14 articles and a fractionalized value of 2.91. The United States has the highest number of articles, indicating a significant presence in research publications. Germany closely follows this, demonstrating a notable contribution to the scientific community. This bibliometric analysis of intraoral scanners used in dentistry provided valuable insights into the current state of research and scholarly publications in this field. This analysis sheds light on the trends, patterns, and advancements in the use of these scanners in dental practice.

Emotional Intelligence and Social Interaction – A Bibliometric Analysis

The focus of the present study is to evaluate and review the documents on Emotional Intelligence and Social Interaction published in the Scopus database. The keywords used to obtain the documents are “Emotional Intelligence” and “Social Interaction”. This study performs bibliometric analysis on 284 articles published between the years 2000-2023. It is evident from the findings that publications related to emotional intelligence and social interaction have been steady for the past few years and there is a need in the rise for research in this field as social interaction is the basis for any social outcome. The bibliometric analysis shows that the top cited article with 570 citations is ‘Emotion regulation abilities and the quality of social interaction’. The most influential authors are Green, Michael F. and Horan, William P.
