61 undergraduates completed the Gordon Personal Inventory and 90 completed the Gordon Personal Profile, with approximately half of each group instructed to be honest and forthright, and half instructed to fake like an ideal candidate for a top-management executive position. The majority of scales on both devices were found to be markedly susceptible to faking, thus verifying previous studies by Braun. Total score on both instruments was again found to be useful in faking detection. The use of independent groups of Ss to represent performance under standard versus faking instructions was advocated in preference to repeated measurements with counterbalancing for order of administration.
