The production of flue-cured tobacco in Zimbabwe is dependent on labour. Personnel management philosophies are reviewed and relevant contemporary management concepts outlined. The historical and present situation of tobacco farms in Zimbabwe is reviewed and the necessity for change and improvement in employer/employee relationships emphasised. Suggestions for improvements are made and the need for maintaining the viability of the industry is stressed.
