THE INFLUENCE OF REINFORCEMENT AND MOTIVATION ON STUDENTS’ READING ABILITY

The objective of this study is to determine the influence of teachers’ classroom reinforcement on the students reading ability, determine the influence of motivation on the students’ reading ability and to determine the influence of teachers’ classroom reinforcement and motivation simultaneously on the students’ reading ability. This study was conducted on SMAN 16 OKI. The sample consisted of 30 students who were divided into two classes, each classes consisted 15 students. Samples were taken by random sampling technique. The method used in this study is Expose Facto with simple regression and multiple regression. the result of the influence coefficient between teachers’ classroom reinforcement and students’ reading ability showed that level of significant was 0.041 < 0.05. Consequently,itis a significant influence of teachers’ classroom reinforcement on the elevenths grade students reading ability. The result of the influence coefficient between student’s motivation and students’ reading ability showed that level of significant was 0.036< 0.05. Consequently there is a significant influence of teachers’ classroom motivation on the elevenths grade students’ reading ability. The result of the influence coefficient between teachers’ classroom reinforcement and motivation on the students’ reading ability showed that level of significant was 0.046 < 0.05. Consequently, there are significant influences of teachers’ classroom reinforcement and motivation on the elevenths grade students reading ability.

Islamic Higher Education Institutional Change: Leader's Motivation and Vision

This paper discusses the motivation and vision of state Islamic higher education leaders in their attempt to improve higher education quality after the institutional change. This is a field descriptive qualitative study which is conducted in IAIN Purwokerto and IAIN Pekalongan. The data collection is done using documentation and interview method; the data is analyzed using an interactive analysis model which covers steps of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and verification/conclusion. The results of the study are as follows: (1) the institutional change which is frequently experienced by state Islamic higher education institutions is considered as the starting point of the effort to increase academic and institutional quality. This institutional change must be followed by well-prepared quality management of higher education institutions; planned, executed, monitored, and evaluated synergically; (2) the leader’s motivation and vision serve as an important aspect in the effort to improve the institutional quality. The motivation and vision must be elaborated into real and calculated actions, as well as supported by transformational leadership; and (3) the accreditation and fulfillment of facilities and infrastructure of higher education is a tool the final objective of which is the establishment of true quality, namely quality culture displayed by the academic community. As a recommendation, the motivation and vision of higher education leaders should focus on improving internal institutions, improving education services and public accountability, and the relevance of education to the future needs of the new generation in the future.

The Management’s Motives of Income Smoothing and Its Implications to The Market Reaction

Purpose : The study is aimed to examine the motive behind income smoothing includes oportunistic behaviour of management, financial distress, and capital structure to the market response of manufacturing companies which are listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2014-2018 periods. Methodology : The sample collection technique has been done by using purposive sampling method, and based on the predetermined criteria, the total data observations are 591. The data analysis technique has been done by using path analysis with 24rd AMOS tool. Findings : Based on the result of hypothesis test, it can be concluded that financial distress has a positive effect to the income smoothing, oportunistic behaviour of management has a negative effect to the income smoothing, capital structure has no significant effect to income smoothing, oportunistic behaviour of management has a positive effect to the market response, financial distress , capital structure and income smoothing has no significant effect to the market response income smoothing cannot be intervening variable between the influence of oportunistic behaviour of management, financial distress , and capital structure to the market response Novelty : The difference between this study with another research is: 1) this study focused on the influence of oportunistic behaviour of management, financial distress, and capital structure to the one of the earnings management that most frequently used, that is income smoothing; 2 ) this research also will examine the implication of each variable to the market response.

THE LOST OEDIPAL STAGE OF HUMBERT HUMBERT IN NOBOKO'S LOLITA

This paper analyses the lost oedipal stage of Humbert in Vladimir Nabokov’s Lolita. It aims to discover the main character’s motivation behind his sexual disorder and the inner conflicts of his psyche, in response to Humbert not experiencing the oedipal stage in his early years. The oedipal stage is a crucial development stage of a human being, and Humbert’s inexperience causes him to be unable to express his desires as an infant boy towards his mother resulting in his psyche developing abnormally. Humbert is considered a hebephiliac for his sexual attraction towards young girls due to the loss of maternal figure at the age of three. Thus, psychoanalysis theory by Sigmund Freud is used in order to analyse the impact of Humbert’s lost oedipal stage to his adult psyche by applying the tripartite theory. The data are collected using qualitative descriptive method, represented in direct quotes from the book. The paper reveals that Humbert’s lost oedipal stage holds a vital role in developing his sexuality in adult life. He only received a strong affection and love when he was thirteen, from Annabel that aged no older than fourteen. He has been holding on to the moment, in which he was able to express his desires as his id, and is unable to let it go even after Annabel’s decease, as his id was not fully fulfilled. This causes him a traumatic experience, leading to his sexual disorder which is developed further once he met Dolores Haze as Lolita.

Treatment techniques of disordered sibilants in Arabic: A descriptive-analytical study

This paper addresses the techniques of treating patients with functional disorders of pronouncing sibilants in Arabic. The sounds under question are /s/, /z/, /a¹£/. The main disorders that are studied here are: substitution and distortion. A descriptive analytical approach was followed; patients from different ages of functional pronunciation disorders of sibilants were observed. The researchers collected data from a questionnaire which was distributed to 46 speech therapists. The questionnaire focused on the techniques these therapists use with patients who have sibilant production disorders. The research first reviews the techniques used to treat the /s/ sound as a main sibilant and then builds on these techniques to treat /z/ and /a¹£/ sounds. The research found that the treatment techniques depend on the type and form of the speech disorder, and the transitional arrangement for treating hissing sounds in Arabic starts with treating /s/ which is the easiest to pronounce - then /z/ and finally /a¹£/.  The findings also emphasize that while treating the patient, it is important to increase his/her mental and auditory awareness of the problem. Finally, it was found that the number of treatment sessions varies according to the patient’s motivation and ability to correct the sound after hearing it, in addition to his/her follow-up treatment outside the treatment sessions.

Analysis of Student’s Difficulties in Solving Physics Problem: Impulse and Momentum Topics

Physics education essentially intends to cultivate student’s analytical and reasoning capabilities. However, this objective is hard to achieve because there are many students who facing difficulties in solving physics problems. This research was conducted to identify the types of student’s difficulties in solving momentum and impulse problems, along with the factors causing it. This research was conducted using a descriptive qualitative approach to 66 students of Senior High School 2 Makassar who had studied momentum and impulse topics. The data collection process was carried out using test and interviews. Based on the results, it can be identified that there are two types of student’s difficulties in solving momentum and impulse problems. The first type was physical difficulties which consisted of student’s difficulty in understanding the questions (26%) and student’s difficulty in determining the useable equations (25%). Then, the second type was mathematical difficulties which consisted of student’s difficulty in substituting the data to the equation (63%) and student’s difficulty in performing mathematical operations (76%). Based on interviews and analysis, it can be concluded that these difficulties was commonly faced by students while solving physics problems, including in momentum and impulse topic. Futhermore, the difiiculties were caused by several factors, namely: 1) the lack of student’s understanding about physics concepts, 2) the weakness of student’s mathematical skills, 3) the lack of physics learning process which is not honing student’s problem-solving skills and 4) the lack of student’s motivation on developing their problems solving skills in physics subjects. Thus, researchers recommend to all physics teachers in Indonesia to immediately develop or implement learning strategies or methods which are considered capable of overcome all student’s difficulties that have been found.

Developing supplementary reading material using macromedia flash for the fourth-grade students at elementary school

The objectives of this study are to developing supplementary reading material and describing the effectiveness of supplementary reading material using Macromedia. Related to the purpose of the study, the research design used was classroom research and development research. The subject of the study was the fourth-grade Students of SDN Ngebel in the academic year 2017/2018. There were 21 students as the sample. In this research, supplementary reading material was used. The research adopted Brog and Gall’s model (1983) which are simplified in the three main stages, they are:(1) preliminary study, (2) development, (3) field testing. The reading materials were selected accordingly to be relevant to the topic. The ideas and sentences were well organized and clearly stated. The students were able to know more vocabulary and grammar, the students actively participated in the teaching and learning process. The used of Macromedia in teaching reading has improved student’s motivation in learning reading. The students expressed their ideas and experience in reading activities. The result of the findings showed that (1) the developed supplementary reading material affect the students’ motivation in joining the teaching-learning process. (2) Using the supplementary reading material, the students were enthusiastic and active in the reading activity. The product of this study is effective to be implemented in the real class to help the students become more excited in learning reading.

HUBUNGAN DARI MOTIVASI DAN LINGKUNGAN KERJA TERHADAP KINERJA KARYAWAN PT GENERASI KREATIF MUDA INDONESIA

This research about the relationship from motivation and work environmental to the perfomance of employee PT Generasi Kreatif Muda Indonesia. This research is a knowledge to know whether there is correlation of motivation and work environmental to the employee’s perfomance. The method of the research used is quantitaive method and used the set of a questionnaire. Population and sample of the research are 34 people. The questionnaire was given to the sample. After data was collected, then it was analyzed, and after that finding was drawn, the finding there is correlation of motivate and work environmental to employee’s perfomance. In order to maintain and improve employee’s perfomance, motivation and work environment PT Generasi Kreatif Muda Indonesia are important element that needs to more concern. ANALISIS PENGARUH PEMBERIAN KOMPENSASI NON FINANSIAL TERHADAP KOMITMEN DAN KINERJA GURU SMP

Schools has the responsibility to organize quality education in accordance with the national objectives of education. Therefore, it takes a competent educators. One effort to increase the commitment and performance of teachers is the provision of non-financial compensation. Based on the description above, this study aimed to determine the effect of non-financial compensation to the commitment and impact on teacher’s performance. Looking at these effects that were tested either directly or indirectly through intermediate variable is the variable commitment of teachers to non-financial compensation is divided into two rewards career and social rewards. This research is an explanatory research, with survey research design. Data analysis technique used to review answering hypothetical model research singer using partial least squares (PLS) with a population of 126 teachers Term Research sample 96 teachers Taken Out of a population. Research shows that commitment has a significant influence towards teacher’s performance with t-statistic result 2.406, rewarding social influences have a significant effect against the commitment of teachers with t-statistic value and costs 3,873 teachers with t-statistic value 2,860. While career rewards has significant effect on teachers' commitment against with t-statistic values of 2.589. This is quite interesting because it should be mediated by the commitment of teachers so career rewards has particularly significant influence toward teacher’s performance. This interesting phenomenon is worth for a discussion. In addition between disposals other variables such as motivation should be a material consideration for further research review.Keywords: Leadership, Islamic boarding school culture, teacher’s motivation, quality of education.

Predicting User Motivation Towards Retention of e-Services: An NLP-based Approach

In this modern era, the dynamic business world has led to the emergence of ‘market orientation’ and ‘social CRM’ (Kohli & Jaworski, 1990; Narver & Slater, 1990; Diffley et al., 2018). The benefits of e-Services are often not fully utilized because of users’ unwillingness to use it (Venkatesh & Davis, 2000; Devaraj & Kohli, 2003). Hence, understanding the user’s motivation in an e-service through Twitter data can help companies form better strategies to retain users. Though people adopt services quickly, they tend to discontinue the service after limited use. Productivity benefits and maximum customer lifetime value (CLV) are typically obtained in the continued use phase (Venkatesh et al., 2003; Kim & Malhotra, 2005).With the emergence of social media, extracting and processing information (Kosala & Blockeel, 2000, Sakaki et al., 2010, Russell, 2011; Crooks et al., 2013), can help in understanding the motivation of users (DeVaro et al., 2018) towards using an eService. This has motivated us to analyze Twitter data to understand customer motivation levels in eService retention. In this study, 1000 tweets were downloaded from ten different e-Service providers based on the company’s official twitter handle and analyzed. The results show that using NaA¯ve Bayes on function and content words help in predicting retention intention. Predicting the IS continuance intention of users through tweets analysis can help companies perform better sentiment analysis and provide customized benefits to users. The limitation of this study is that though Twitter analytics can serve a good medium for analyzing users’ behavioural intentions, the words and its usage in different situations can change.

The Application of Problem-Based Learning Methods to Improve Economic Learning Outcomes and Motivation

The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of the application of Problem-Based Learning methods in improving students’ learning outcomes at the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 20 Tangerang Regency batch 2018/2019. This study used a quasi-experimental design and the techniques of collecting data were test, questionnaire, observation sheet, and document. The population in this study were 308 students consisted of students of eleventh grade in science 1 - 4 and eleventh grade in social science 1 – 4. This study used eleventh grade in science 2 and eleventh grade in science 4 as the sample that was taken non-randomly by using purposive sampling. The students’ learning motivation for economic subjects with the material about national income is considered good based on the t-test result. The value of t-test was 5,288 where tcount > ttable (5,288 > 1,977). It could be concluded that there was a significant differences between students’ learning outcomes that used Problem-Based Learning method and those that used conventional method in economic subject of student national income material at the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 20 Tangerang Regency. This research also found that Problem-Based Learning methods improved student’s motivation.

Interactive Use of Performance Measurement Systems and its Impact to Firm Performance: Evidence from West Java Province Local-Owned Enterprise, Indonesia

We analysed the influence of the interactice use of performance measurement systems/(IPMS), organizational commitment/(OC), and effectiveness innovation type/(EIT) on the firm performance. Then, the extent to which that who have organizational commitment and effectveness innovation type as an intervening variables. We study the West Java Local-Owned Enterprise, Indonesian. From 146 distributed questionnaires, we obtain 69 usable data points which we analyse using Path-Analysis. We indicated that IPMS, organizational commitment, effectveness innovation type have positive and significantly effect on firm performance. Other word, we suggested that organizational commitment and effectveness innovation type as an inetrvening variable in the relationsip between IPMS and firm performance. This result implies that managers can open communication linness to subordinate to increase IPMS that lead to the improvement of OC and EIT in order to generate operational effectveness and performance. This research confirms that IPMS and OC should be increase implementation of EIT to encourage the employee’s motivation to creation by day to day in gaining firm strategic competitiveness. This research have confirmatory the importance employed of IPMS, OC, and EIT at middile to lower level employees in the Goverment Local-Owned Enterprise. I thing that less seriously in the decade were field of management accounting/performance measurement systems.

INTERAKSI SOSIAL WANITA PEKERJA BADUY

Baduy tribe woman worker social interaction (case study baduy women who work in out of Baduy region), Education of Social Sciences program, Faculty of Social Sciences, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, 2017.The purpose of this research to take information related with: (1) Baduy women’s motivation who work in out of Baduy region; (2) Ways of Baduy women worker interaction when being at non-Baduy’s tribe area. This research was acted for 3 months at around of Baduy region (Ciboleger, Ciminyak, and Cihandam). The methodology that was used in this research is qualitative approach by studying case methode. While for data collection technic using: observation technic, interview technic, documentation analysis, and field notes. For data analysis in this research used some technic such as: analyze, reducing, providing data, and deducing.The result of this research brings at conclusion that: (1) Baduy women worker motivation caused by internal and external factors. Internal factor consist of: Self in motivation and unsatify of marriage. While factors external consists of: less of farming land for Huma nor empty agricultural land for Huma activities, financial independence, and need for home belonging. (2) As a woman worker, Baduy women will always do interaction proces within their working area in order to able in doing their works. In their interaction process, they will be improved artlessly by looking and imitation during in interaction process. Looking and imitation when in interaction process is substance indicates that people have strong motivation will hard effort finding solutions of problems were being facing. However, difference of background culture still become obstacle for Baduy women worker to be able interact good. The obstacles will appear when in using language, adapting with new culture, and low self confidence from Baduy women worker.

MENGENALKAN LAMBANG BILANGAN MELALUI PERMAINAN MENJATUHKAN SIMBOL ANGKA PADA ANAK USIA DINI

Most early childhood have dificulties for learning numerical. For example, When they are studing,they are tied, boring, and unresponsible about numerical stimulus. So that way they did not havecapabilities to respon about numerical. The child has capabilities to say number one to ten only, buthe does not understand about the number. One of the problems is coused by the teacher and the childhiself. The teacher’s problem is the inappropriate of instruction learning, so the result of learning isnot good enought. While the children’s problems are coused by less of motivated, and less oflearning media that is not increase to student’s motivation. Based on these problems, so theresearcher wants to know to increase of numbers capabilities by using of the number game for earlychildhood. The goals of this reaearch is the falling of symbol number is efective to introduce aboutnumber for early childhood. As indicator of efectiveness are: 1). The children can say numbercorectly and orderedly. 2). The children can ordere the number from small to higher corectley. 3).The children can related among symbol number and the total of material number.4). The children canwrite the symbol of number corectly. This research is a quasi experiment by one group pretes posttestdesign. The collecting data uses performance tes and observation. While the analysis data uses t-statistical. The result of this research has purpose to introduce of the symbol number throught thegame for falling the symbol number.

Motivation of Medical Students to Study Sciences

Natural sciences and their applications (medical biophysics, medical chemistry and medical biology) represent an inevitable part of medical curriculum. They are often negatively evaluated and a lack of motivation to their study is observed. The attitudes of medical students towards natural sciences are influenced by their negative experiences from the previous study. Nevertheless, knowledge from the natural sciences represents the necessary basis for better understanding of the basic principles of the medical diagnostic and therapeutic methods. Therefore, the indispensable role of natural science teachers is to achieve positive attitudes and motivate students to study them. Our research project is focused on the identification and subsequent application of motivating approaches in natural sciences teaching. Pedagogical investigation using anonymous questionnaires was done with the aim to specify respondents’ (first year students of Comenius University in Bratislava, Faculty of Medicine) motivation and attitudes towards teaching and learning natural sciences before starting medicine study and after the first semester of medicine study. Leadership Styles, Motivation Achievers and Quality in Cultural Teaching

This research was conducted in senior high schools in Gorontalo city. The approach used is quantitative research, with survey methodology. The population research consists of senior high school teachers from the city of Gorontalo. There are 375 people in the sample, coming from 4 public schools and 3 private senior high schools in Gorontalo. The analysis is based on 66 teachers obtained by a random way using Strata methodology. Other variables were collected using a questionnaire instrument while the empirical evidence used statistical regression with significant levels I± = 0,05. The findings in this research are as follows: (1) There is a positive relationship between principal leadership style to teacher’s work discipline. It means that when the principal leadership style is good and right will improve the work discipline of the teacher. (2) There is a positive influence on the principal of leadership style to teacher’s motivation achievers. It means that the better the leadership style by the principal, the higher the achieving motivation by the teacher. (3) There is a positive influence on the principal of leadership style to quality culture teacher. It means that the better the leadership style by the principal, the more easily the implementation of quality culture by the teacher. (4) There is a positive influence on motivation achievers to teacher’s work discipline. It means that the higher achievement motivation that teachers have, the more easily the increase in teacher’s work discipline. (5) There is a positive influence on teachers’ work discipline with high quality culture teachers. It means that the better the teacher’s work discipline, the more easily the application of high quality culture to teacher. (6) There is a positive influence of teacher’s motivation achievers to quality culture teachers. It means that the higher motivation achievers teachers have the more easily is to apply high quality culture teachers.

Project activity as a way for creative potential development of university students trained on Management bachelor-program

This paper deals with development problem of practice-oriented space of Tomsk Polytechnic University. The discipline model of “Creative project” for students trained on Management course is developed. The model is based on the increase of student’s motivation to self-education, the use of project activity technologies and interactive teaching methods, and it is aimed at the formation of student’s readiness for productive learning activity and it gives an impulse for effective interaction of theory and practice in the context of manager training. The format of students and lecture interaction in the learning process is modeled; pedagogical tools for qualitative educational process and for getting effective results are chosen.Lecturer’s tasks in the implementation of developed model are defined. The need for constant searching new effective teaching means and methods,educational technologies are proved.Topics studied under discipline“Creative project”in the light of specific features of Management course are given. The results of this learning model implementation are projects,skills acquired during the self-education work and oral presentations. To get the results of the survey students are asked to fill in a questionnaire. Students’ answers show that the educational process has been designed efficiently and students are satisfied with the learning process. The model for discipline “Creative project” can be used in teaching practice at universities.

Academics' Perceptions of the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) for Sustainable Development

In light of business leaders’ failings, including corporate corruption, the financial crisis and various ecological system crises there is a growing expectation that management education institutions should be leading thought and action on issues related to corporate responsibility and sustainability. Therefore, there is a need to ascertain management education institutions’ ability to ensure responsible and sustainable management education. This paper seeks to assess academics’ perceptions of how the University of KwaZulu-Natal has adopted the United Nation (UN) supported initiative, Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), to ensure responsible and sustainable management education in South Africa. The sample was drawn using the probability sampling technique called cluster sampling. Permanent academic staff from the Graduate School of Business and Leadership and the School of Management, Information Technology and Governance who responded to the structured, self-administered questionnaire formed the sample. Questions asked related to fostering a sustainable culture, strategically adapting curriculum, creating learning environments, aligning research, fostering sustainable partnerships and encouraging constant dialogue with regards to PRME. In order to assess the implementation of the PRME for sustainable development, a quantitative research design was adopted. This is the first study, to the researcher’s knowledge, to examine the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Graduate School of Business and Leadership and the School of Management, Information Technology and Governance’s motives, effects and challenges of engaging in PRME. The study has also explored key aspects such as the adaptation of teaching practices by the academic staff, the role of academics and diversification that influences the decision of the Graduate School of Business and Leadership and School of Management, Information Technology and Governance to participate in PRME. The results indicate that academic staff in both schools is engaging in activities that pursue the cause of sustainable development. There is evidence of addressing modern societal and environmental challenges by fostering change in design in curricula, fostering a sustainable culture and creating a learning environment. However, evidently more careful and deliberate attention needs to be given to fostering constant dialogue and aligning PRME and research to enhance economic, environmental and social development. This study provides a model/framework to present current practices and obstacles/setbacks experienced in adopting PRME and will present recommendations to facilitate the adoption of PRME by UKZN.

PENGARUH KOMUNIKASI INTERPERSONAL, PENGETAHUAN TENTANG LINGKUNGAN DAN MOTIVASI PENINGKATAN PENDAPATAN TERHADAP PARTISIPASI DALAM PELESTARIAN LINGKUNGAN WISATA

The objective of this research is to know the effect of level interpersonal communication,enviromental knowledge and motivation increasing income which participation people in eternal a tour. Theresearch is done by using survey method to 80 respondents are inhabitants around Danau Toba from 2 (two)district; Simalungun and Samosir, North Sumatera.The results this research are : 1. There is direct effect of interpersonal communication to people’smotivation increasing income; 2. There is direct effect of enviromental knowledge to people’s motivationincreasing income; 3. There is direct effect of interpersonal communication to people’s participation ineternal a tour; 4. There is direct effect of environmental knowledge to people’s participation in eternal ator; 5. There is direct effect of people’s motivation increasing income to people’s participation in eternal atour.Results of this research give implication that people’s participation to eternal a tour is highlydetermined by interpersonal communication, environmental knowledge, and motivation increasing income.

The Organizational Response to Employee Acceptability to Change

This thesis investigates the effect of Orgаnizаtionаl Response to еmployееs acceptability of change on the еmployееs motivation and the major focus was based on the hypothesis that Organizational rewards to employee acceptability of change are the influencing factor for the employee motivation. In this research Sample size was 300 respondents, including 10 organizations and 30 employees from each organization and the technique used for sampling is convenience based sampling. Questionnaire was used for data collection in which respondent were asked the organizational response to employee acceptability of change and does is response effects their level of motivation. Data was collected through personal survey technique. Statistical tool used was to finding revealed that organizational response to employee acceptability of change has influence on the employee’s motivation.
