Tissue adhesives and pelvic hemostasis: an evaluation of isobutyl 2-cyanoacrylate.

AbstractA tissue adhesive, isobutyl cyanoacrylate, was studied in 17 mongrel dogs. The hemostatic properties of the drug were good, but the tissue tensile strength was inadequate. The exothermic activity of the preparation caused some tissue distortion. The aerosol study group was associated with an increase in sepsis. The clinical usefulnesses of the preparation are numerous and remain to be explored.
