Of 20 patients treated by a modified “thumb” urethroplasty technique, only 1 required a new repair. This new method adds a “dog-ear” protrusion from the thumb-shaped flap of scrotal skin. The “dog-ear” is invaginated into the distal urethral ostium. Also trimmed tip of flap is invaginated into the proximal ostium. This technique provides better postoperative results and prevents fibrosis around either the distal or proximal ostium of the repaired segment.
