Dear Authors and (Online) Participants of ICCEA 2020,On behalf of the conference committees, I am pleased to declare that we had really successful three days of 2020 3rd International Conference on Civil Engineering and Architecture (ICCEA 2020), which was supposed to be held in Compiègne, France, during June 28-30, 2020, but was changed to be held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The conference was sponsored by Seoul National University and the University of Technology of Compiègne. Again, the online conference was of great success, totally beyond anybody’s expectation, having a diverse group of expertise and backgrounds. Not to mention that participants are geographically diverse. I am glad to confirm that such diverse expertise and backgrounds were connected, forming a coherent conference environment and creating synergistic learning and sharing.ICCEA is the premier forum for the presentation of new advances and research results in the fields of theoretical, experimental, and practical civil engineering and architecture. The conference indeed brought together leading researchers, engineers and architects in the domain of interest from around the world. ICCEA 2020 was composed of 4 oral parallel sessions (15 min. for each talk, including 2-3 min. for Q&A), 4 keynote speeches (45 min. for each keynote speech, including 5 min. for Q&A) delivered, respectively, by myself; Prof. Adnan Ibrahimbegovic, the University of Technology of Compiègne, France; Prof. Youngjin Lee, Boston Architectural College & Sasaki Associates, Inc., USA; and Prof. Bernhard Egger, Seoul National University, South Korea; and finally, I would like to thank all of our conference committee members and participants for always being supportive to the conferences and joining online during their busy schedule to share valuable knowledge with us (and despite the time zone difference). I also would like to thank Prof. Dario Pedrabissi, the University of Portsmouth, UK, for his willingness to serve as a Program Chair of ICCEA 2020. As expected, the conference with all the keynote speeches and presentations was proven to be intellectually stimulating to all.I just regret that we could enjoy a beautiful and historically significant city, Compiègne, and the beautiful campus of the University of Technology of Compiègne, France, but will get together in 2021 in another glorious place. We really enjoyed the conference, the hospitality (from the host, Prof. Adnan Ibrahimbegovic), and the constructive online discussion, and will continue to reinforce this strong foundation!July 15, 2020Dr. Thomas KangProfessor, Seoul National University, South KoreaConference Co-Chair, ICCEA 2020tkang@snu.ac.kr
