A recently proposed example for invalidating harmonic linearization method is shown to be incorrectly analyzed. The two time-scaling technique has been shown to yield the correct solution.
A quantummechanical system consisting of N light bath particles and one heavy Brownian linear rotator is considered. By employing the multiple time scale technique and the Wigner representation of quantummechanics, a Fokker-Planck equation for the motion of the Brownian particle is derived. Some properties of this equation are briefly discussed.
