Constructing Assessment for Evaluating Critical Thinking and Creative Problem-Solving Skills in the Lesson on Soundwave

The objective of this article is to develop an instrument that can be used to assess the ability to solve creative problems (CPS) and critical thinking (CT) in the context of sound waves. This work is a component of our research on developing a teaching material that includes assessment as a component of the final product. The objective of this instrument is to evaluate students' critical thinking (CT) and critical problem-solving (CPS) abilities both before and after implementing the recently developed mobile learning teaching resources. To construct the instrument, we adhere to the Facione and Osborn-Parness frameworks for CTs and CPSs. Validity testing and reliability testing comprise this instrument development process. We utilize Cronbach's Alpha to assess reliability and the content validity index to assess validity. According to the content validity index results, four of the six items in the CT instrument were determined to be valid. Conversely, the empirical validation test of the creative problem-solving skills instrument demonstrated that the results were valid and suitable for use. The Cronbach's Alpha results also indicated that both tools accurately evaluated students' creative problem-solving and critical reasoning abilities.

Analysing the Mathematical Critical and Creative Thinking Abilities in Problem Solving Introverted Students

This study aims to evaluate the critical and creative thinking abilities in the context of mathematics when solving problems related to arithmetic sequences and series among introverted students in the 11th grade at Xaverius 1 High School in Jambi City. This issue arises due to differences in thinking skills and cognitive processes among students based on personality types, where it was found that introverted students tend to have low mathematical critical and creative thinking abilities. The research method employed is a descriptive qualitative approach, collecting data through personality questionnaires, tests, and interviews. Research subjects were selected from introverted students based on personality questionnaire results and answer sheet analysis, with three students representing the various response groups. The results of this study indicate that introverted students demonstrate good mathematical critical thinking skills in understanding problems, planning, and implementing plans. However, they tend to overlook rechecking their solutions. The creative mathematical thinking abilities of introverted students mainly involve fluency and flexibility in understanding problems, planning, and implementing plans, although they lack in terms of originality and elaboration in problem-solving

Digitizing success: Leveraging digital human resource practices for transformative productivity in Chinese SMEs

Background& Purpose: In the rapidly evolving digital landscape, digital human resource (HR) practices in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have become a vital success factor. This study adopts the resource-based view of the firm to explore the complicated relationships among digital HR practices, digital transformation, innovative work behavior, disruptive innovation, and work productivity in the context of Chinese SMEs. MethodsThis study provides fundamental insights by drawing data from Jiangsu province, China. Data from 339 managerial staff members were collected and analyzed using SmartPLS (4.0) with a partial least squares structural equation model (PLS-SEM). Several measures, model fit, and hypothesis tests were conducted. FindingsDigital HR practices significantly affect digital transformation, innovative work behavior, and productivity. Furthermore, digital transformation is a powerful driver that positively influences innovative work behavior and productivity in SMEs. Interestingly, innovative work behavior positively influenced work productivity, exemplifying the vital role of inspired thinking and problem-solving abilities. This study also investigates the moderating role of disruptive innovation, highlighting its influence on the association between digital HR practices and digital transformation. However, disruptive innovation does not significantly moderate the association between digital transformation and innovative work behavior, suggesting fascinating nuances for SMEs. Conclusion/valueThis research extends our understanding of the interaction between digitalization, HR, and innovation, and proposes practical implications for SMEs aiming to harness the transformative potential of digitization. Several theoretical and practical implications are developed for future studies on related SMEs.

Think-aloud approach combined with case-based learning in nursing teaching round for new nurses in cancer hospital

BackgroundThe transition from nursing students to working as new nurses can be a challenging process. This study aimed to assess the efficacy of a pedagogical approach amalgamating the think-aloud approach and case-based learning in the instructional rounds for new nurses.MethodsUtilizing convenience sampling, new nurses were selected between 2020 and 2021 in China cancer hospital. A total of 98 participants agreed to participate, with 50 enrolled in 2020 as the control group and 48 in 2021 as the observation group. Across a span of weeks 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11, each clinical department conducted six teaching rounds. The observation group engaged in teaching rounds combining the think-aloud approach with case-based learning, whereas the control group solely utilized case-based learning. Disparities in case analysis scores and critical thinking ability between the two groups were scrutinized, alongside an analysis of learning strategies and the observation group feedback.ResultsThe observation group exhibited superior case analysis scores (91.92 ± 6.33) and overall critical thinking ability scores (308.39 ± 35.88) in comparison to the control group, which scored (85.27 ± 5.39) and (275.11 ± 31.32) respectively, reflecting statistically significant variances (t = 1.868 ~ 6.361, P < 0.05). Predominant learning strategies employed in the observation group ranged from cognitive to meta-cognitive, followed by psychosocial strategies. During interviews focused on nurses’ feedback on the learning process, themes emerged surrounding the enhancement of learning proficiency, invigoration of learning enthusiasm, and bolstering psychological well-being.ConclusionThe combination of think-aloud approach and case-based learning in nursing teaching rounds greatly improves the efficiency of training and the critical thinking acuity of new nurses. Concurrently, it facilitated an evaluation of learning strategies, thereby offering valuable insights for the nursing teaching rounds of new nurse.

Development of Case Study Based Learning Strategy Textbook to Improve Critical Thinking Ability of University Students

Critical thinking skills are essential to address future challenges. An effective way to improve these skills is through case study-based learning activities. This research aims to develop a specially designed textbook with a case study-based learning strategy to improve students' critical thinking skills. The development process is based on the Borg and Gall model which focuses on the creation of practical educational products. This research was conducted at the Economic Education Research Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Riau University. This research method follows the 4-D development model by Thiagarajan, Dorothy S. Semmel and Melvin I. Semmel. It includes four phases: definition, design, development, and dissemination. First, the need for a textbook based on the case study was assessed. Then a detailed and systematic design was made and the first product was compiled and validated through expert testing involving FETT material, media and language experts from Riau University. Through the verification process, the textbook was classified as a good textbook and suitable for use. The textbooks were distributed to instructors and practiced in class. This development produces practical and quality educational products that aim to improve students' critical thinking skills. The focus of this study is on the final stage of product development and includes recommendations for future research using educational or experimental methods. The qualitative descriptive analysis approach used in this study highlights the potential of the textbook to enrich teaching materials, broaden horizons, and increase students' sociocultural awareness. This study examines the effectiveness of the 4-D development model in creating an educational product that integrates case study-based learning strategies to enhance critical thinking skills and provide a valuable resource for instructors and students in business education courses.

Analysis of higher order thinking skills and lower thinking skill items in summative evaluation of Akidah-Akhlak learning

This research explores the implementation of summative evaluation in Islamic Religious Education (Akidah Akhlak) subjects at SMP Muhammadiyah 4 Yogyakarta, with a focus on implementing Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). Summative evaluation is considered very important in measuring the achievement of the Islamic Religious Education program. High-level critical and creative thinking skills (HOTS) are considered important in solving everyday problems, especially in the era of globalization. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with document content analysis, especially the final semester assessment questions for Aqidah Akhlak class VII made by the Regional Leadership of Muhammadiyah (PWM) DIY. The findings show that of the 12 final semester assessment questions, 6 questions (15%) meet the HOTS criteria, while 28 questions (70%) fall into the low-level thinking ability (LOTS) category. In addition, 6 items (15%) did not have a correct answer among the available options. These findings underscore the need to increase the integration of HOTS in designing summative evaluation questions for Islamic Religious Education (PAI). This research aims to describe and collect information about the implementation of summative evaluations and assess the results at SMP Muhammadiyah 4 Yogyakarta. Effective summative evaluation is expected to make a significant contribution to improving the quality of Islamic education at the secondary level.

Enhancing High School English Listening and Speaking Skills: A Deep Learning Approach Aligned with Core Competences

Deep learning is an educational approach that develops English Subject Core Competences. Listening and speaking teaching guided by deep learning can effectively implement the goals of cultivating core competences. By integrating deep learning principles and leveraging artificial intelligence (AI), this research aims to cultivate language proficiency, cultural awareness, critical thinking and learning ability within the English classroom. The paper examines methods for embedding core competences into listening and speaking activities through contextual and associative learning, constructing a thematic language knowledge framework, deep processing of content, innovative transfer and problem-solving tasks. AI is utilized to personalize learning experiences and provide timely feedback, thereby transforming traditional English teaching approaches and fostering comprehensive development of students' core competences.

Responsiveness of the Curriculum to the Career Path of Art Design Majors in Vocational Schools

The curriculum of art and design majors in vocational colleges has an extremely important impact on career development paths, and it is the key to planning and organizing teaching activities in all vocational colleges. Firstly, the rationality of the curriculum helps to clarify the course objectives of each professional course, organize knowledge in a reasonable order and hierarchy to ensure that students can establish a solid foundation in the learning process, and then gradually delve into more complex knowledge fields. Secondly, the timeliness of curriculum design helps to encourage professional teachers to continuously reflect and improve their teaching methods and content, align the curriculum with social and professional needs, and provide students with knowledge and abilities that are consistent with the actual work environment, so that they can achieve success in the job market. The foresight of the final curriculum design helps to stimulate teachers' innovative thinking and teaching enthusiasm, help students understand the development trends of future society, cultivate students' innovative thinking and problem-solving abilities, and better adapt to future challenges.

Adapting to AI: exploring the implications of AI integration in shaping the accounting and auditing profession for developing economies

The study investigates the adaptability of the accounting and auditing profession in the face of rapid AI integration, focusing on developing economies with Ghana as a case study. It employs a quantitative approach, using a cross-sectional survey design to collect data from accounting and auditing professionals across various sectors in Ghana. A stratified random sampling technique ensures diverse representation, and the data is analysed using structural equation modelling (SEM) tools. The research identifies six key domains and twelve adaptability attributes, including forces of change, leadership qualities, readiness, approach, and resistance to change, which are critical for the profession’s response to disruptive AI technologies. The extracted model, based on these attributes, was validated through a survey, revealing a good model fit with the Standardized Root Mean Square Residual (SRMR) below 0.08 and a Normed Fit Index (NFI) within an acceptable range. The findings suggest that to remain relevant in the AI era, accounting professionals in developing economies must continuously upskill and reskill, alongside cultivating strong business acumen, interpersonal skills, critical thinking, value-added services, and communication abilities. The study emphasizes the importance of policymakers, professional bodies, and leadership within the profession aligning their strategies with these adaptability attributes to enhance resilience and competitiveness in an AI-driven landscape. This research significantly contributes to the understanding of how the accounting and auditing profession in developing economies can navigate the challenges and opportunities presented by AI.

문제중심학습(PBL) 기반 건강사정 및 실습 교육이 간호대학생의 비판적사고, 문제해결능력, 자기주도학습능력에 미치는 효과

Objectives This study aimed to develop and validate the effectiveness of a PBL-based health assessment practice education program for enhancing critical thinking, problem-solving, and self-directed learning skills among nursing students. Methods The study involved 48 first-year nursing students in P City, and was conducted from August to December 2021. The experimental group received the PBL-based health assessment practice education program, totaling 39 hours over 13 sessions (3 hours each). The program's impact was measured using the same questionnaire administered before and after PBL-based learning. Results Following the implementation of the PBL-based health assessment training program, critical thinking increased significantly from 3.62±0.35 to 4.06±0.67 points (t=-4.28, p&lt;.001), problem-solving ability from 3.46±0.39 to 3.93±0.73 points (t=-3.87, p&lt;.001), and self-directed learning ability rose significantly from 3.32±0.33 to 3.80±0.77 points (t=-3.56, p&lt;001). Conclusions PBL-based health assessment practice education effectively enhances critical thinking, problem-solving, and self-directed learning abilities among nursing students.

Spatial Thinking and Movements in Geometry: GeoGebra with a focus on building animated scenarios

Animated Scenarios are constructions created in GeoGebra with mathematical elements and movement, constituting an animated scene. Movement is fundamental to the construction of Animated Sceneries, it is also essential to spatial thinking and spatial abilities. This theoretical essay aims to discuss the potential of building Animated Scenarios in GeoGebra in/for the recognition of flat and spatial geometric objects, articulated with the movements associated with spatial thinking. For this, the House Animated Scenario are considered. Thus, we identified that movements performed during this construction allow rotating and modifying the shape of objects and that these movements are related to spatial abilities. Furthermore, the use of these movements in construction contributes to the recognition of important characteristics that distinguish flat and spatial objects.

Teaching Implementation and Improvement Direction of Student Science Experiments -- Take Weigh the Mass of Solids with a Balance for Example

This article explores how to optimize the teaching design of the measurement experiment Weighing the Mass of Solids with a Balance in the context of the new middle school entrance examination, aiming to enhance students physical experiment operation ability and innovative thinking ability. The article points out that experimental teaching should combine the requirements of textbooks and new curriculum standards, pay attention to the design of experimental operation details, and stimulate students interest in scientific exploration through problem driven strategies. Specifically, in the chapter on Measurement of Quality , the knowledge sequence of the textbook includes the concept of quality, unit conversion, quality attributes, measuring instruments, and the use of scales. In teaching, it is necessary to pay attention to the initial use of scales, guide students to understand the structure and principles of scales, and attach importance to experimental operation training. In response to teaching difficulties, such as error analysis, measures should be taken to improve students understanding, such as through example analysis and strengthening guidance on experimental steps. In addition, the article also emphasizes the direction of teaching improvement, including adjusting the content position to optimize the learning process, segmenting teaching based on student learning situations, optimizing teaching methods, adding experimental report writing, encouraging communication and display, designing multi-level experimental tasks, and promoting the spiral increase of students scientific exploration ability through repeated experiments and problem guidance.

Innovative Research on Land Resource Studies Curriculum Based on the Integration of OBE and CDIO Concepts

Land Resource Studies is an interdisciplinary applied science that encompasses the study of related concepts of land resources, types of land, their characteristics and spatial distribution, quantity and quality of land, land survey and evaluation, land development and utilization, land governance and restoration, as well as land protection and management. By examining the current state and existing issues in the teaching of land resource courses, and integrating the OBE-CDIO concept, this study conducts reforms and innovations from multiple dimensions including OBE outcome-oriented educational innovation, CDIO engineering education model innovation, and the integration of ideological and political elements. The ultimate goal is to realize a student-centered, outcome-oriented, and theory-practice integrated approach in the land resource studies curriculum. This innovation aims to cultivate students ability for systematic thinking and hands-on practice, achieving the goal of training interdisciplinary talents in the field of land resource studies.

Improving Unplugged Computational Thinking Skills Through Integrated Problem-Based and Differentiated Learning in Indonesia

Industry 4.0 era is characterized by the development of technology and the existence of flexible and effective data exchange. This has an impact on the emergence of new jobs that require the ability to solve problems effectively and efficiently, especially computational thinking. This Classroom Action Research aims to improve students’ computational thinking (abstraction, data collection, data analysis and algorithms) in solving problems about probability through problem-based learning integrated with differentiation learning. This research was conducted in four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Thirty-four students of class X-E7 SMA Negeri 5 Surakarta in Indonesia were the subjects of this research. It was concluded that the application of problem-based learning model integrated with differentiated learning (content and process) significantly improves students’ computational thinking skills and promotes cognitive development through problem-solving activities. The improvement of computational thinking ability is caused by: data collection activities in the form of dice/coin simulations, abstraction activities of sample points and important information in the problem, activities to formulate solution steps (algorithms) and data analysis activities in the form of interpretation of results and calculations. Differentiated learning (content and process) plays a role in improving students’ computational thinking through ability-based scaffolding and content based on their interests and learning modalities.

Literature Study On The Effect of The Discovery Learning Approach On Students' Computational Thinking Ability By Considering Gender Aspects

This research aims to explore the findings of previous studies regarding the effect of the discovery approach on students' computational thinking ability, taking into account gender aspects. Computational thinking ability is an essential skill in today's digital era, and the appropriate learning approach can help students develop this ability. The method used in this research is a literature study by analyzing relevant journal articles and research to identify emerging findings and patterns. The research results are expected to provide valuable insights for education practitioners in designing effective and inclusive learning strategies to improve students' computational thinking abilities, considering gender differences.

Development of Computational Mathematic Thinking Test Instruments Based On Computered Based Test

This reseacrh is a type of development reseacrh. The aims of this research is to develop an instrument for mathematical computational thinking tests based on Computer Based Testing (CBT) using the Quizizz application, evaluate the validity of the developed test instrument, and analyze the mathematical computational thinking abilities of students. The ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) is adopted as the method in this research. A total of 52 students from classes X and XI of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta were involved in this study as research subjects. Data analysis was conducted using the Rasch model with the assistance of Winsteps Rasch software. The results of this research indicate that 20 items are categorized as valid. The overall test reliability is 0.62, classified as sufficient, while the reliability of the test items is 0.88, classified as good. Test analysis of the level of difficulty of test items reveals that there are 3 items categorized as very difficult, 7 items categorized as difficult, 5 items categorized as moderate, and 5 items categorized as easy. In general that the computational thinking skills test does not show a tendency to be biased in any question item, because all probability values for the question items exceed 0.05. Items are considered unbiased if they do not give an unfair advantage to any one individual. Based on the experiment in this study, the average mathematical computational thinking ability of class X students is 75.53, while for class XI students it is 79.37.

PENGARUH ALAT PERAGA GEOBOARD DAN KEMAMPUAN DISPOSISI MATEMATIS TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN BERPIKIR KREATIF PESERTA DIDIK KELAS VII

This research aims to determine 1) differences in creative thinking abilities between students who use geoboard teaching tools and students who use conventional ones in class VII, 2) differences in creative thinking abilities between students with high disposition ability and low disposition ability in class VII, 3 ) the interaction of geoboard teaching tools and mathematical disposition abilities on students' creative thinking abilities in class VII. This type of research is quasi-experimental research. Data collection techniques in this research are test and non-test techniques. The data analysis technique in this research uses a two-way ANOVA technique. The research results obtained from testing the hypothesis for each formulation are 1) there is a difference in creative thinking ability between students who use geoboard tools and students who use conventional in class VII with a significant value &lt;0.001, 2) there is a difference in creative thinking ability between students high disposition ability with low disposition ability in class VII with a significant value of 0.020, 3) there is an interaction between geoboard teaching tools and mathematical disposition ability on the creative thinking ability of students in class VII with a significant value &lt;0.001

PENGEMBANGAN INSTRUMEN TES UNTUK KEMAMPUAN BERPIKIR REFLEKTIF MATEMATIS PADA MATERI ALJABAR

This research aims to produce a test instrument for students' mathematical reflective thinking ability on algebraic material. This research used the Research and Development (R&amp;D) method with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The subjects used were 35 seventh grade students in one of the private junior high schools in Tangerang City. Based on the results of the material expert validation received an average score of 87.7% with very valid criteria. The validity of the items received an average of 0.82 very valid criteria. Then it has a Chronbach's Alpha value of 0.945 which means reliable. In addition, the level of difficulty of moderate questions is 3 questions, difficult 1 question and easy 1 question. The results of the student response questionnaire after working on the test instrument obtained a score of 78% with good criteria. Then based on these results, the development of test instruments for students' mathematical reflective thinking skills is valid, reliable and worthy of use

UPAYA PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN BERPIKIR ANALISIS MATEMATIKA MELALUI MODEL MAKE A MATCH SISWA SEKOLAH DASAR

The aim of the research is to determine the application of the Make A Match model as an effort to improve the mathematical analytical thinking skills of class IV students at SDN 5 Tegalrejo in corner material with the help of paired cards. This research method is classroom action research on 21 class IV students at SDN 5 Tegalrejo. Collection techniques through pre-cycles, model application, evaluation tests, observation of learning activities and interviews. The results of the research showed an increase in the mathematical analysis thinking skills of fourth grade students at SDN 5 Tegalrejo in applying the Make A Match model with the help of paired cards in corner material. The scores obtained in the Pre-cycle were with a class average of 62.85, the first cycle had a class average of 72.61, and the second cycle had a class average of 88.09. Increasing mathematical analysis skills takes place in mathematical problem-solving activities through paired cards and evaluation of cycle I and cycle II through the ability to differentiate, organize and attribute. Students are able to achieve analytical thinking skills when the student's score has successfully achieved 3 indicators of students' analytical thinking skills, namely differentiating, organizing and attributing. Students gain knowledge of the concept of angles through understanding problems and surrounding angles, organizing mathematical and applied problems and making attributions in mathematical problems. The percentage of students' analytical thinking ability is achieved if it exceeds ≥ 60% of the classical percentage of students in the high category

Developing critical thinking test for adolescents: A validity and reliability study from the Czech Republic

This article presents a comprehensive validation study of a Critical Thinking Test (CTT) conducted among Czech adolescents in 2023. It offers valuable insights into the psychometric properties, correlations, and predictors associated with analytical, evaluative and inferential abilities of critical thinking. While there are tools available for measuring critical thinking, they tend to be lengthy and inaccessible in the Czech language. Our study seeks to address this gap by developing a concise and effective tool that students can complete within a single class period. Our study is based on a large sample of Czech adolescents in their first year of secondary school (N = 9,495), which allows us to apply Item Response Theory (IRT), which is the best method for validation. The results showed that the abbreviated 33-item version of the CTT is a reliable and valid instrument that measures three distinct abilities (analysis, evaluation, and inference) that are highly correlated. Limitations and implications for the use of the instrument are discussed.
