AbstractA near‐to‐eye see‐through optical configuration is proposed based on dual transmitted grating fabricated by interference in Holographic Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal (H‐PDLC), which provides compact, light, and low cost solution for see‐through display. The transmitted gratings attached at both the edge and center of the glass substrate acted as in‐coupling and out‐coupling elements respectively. A prototype with thick glass substrate for see‐through configuration was demonstrated, which could couple the incident successfully into substrate and then coupled the beam outward by the other grating.
