Mechanical and thermal characterization of elastomer modified polypropylene hybrid composites reinforced with hazelnut shell and wollastonite fillers

AbstractThe demand for sustainable and recyclable materials in industrial applications has led to a surge in interest in green composites, particularly those incorporating natural fillers derived from agro‐food industry waste. This study investigates the mechanical and thermal properties of polypropylene (PP) hybrid composites filled with hazelnut shell and wollastonite, along with the effect of styrene‐ethylene/butylene‐styrene (SEBS) and SEBS‐g‐maleic anhydride (SEBS‐g‐MA) compatibilizers. Various characterization techniques, including tensile, flexural, and impact tests, as well as differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetry (TGA), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analyses, were employed to evaluate the composites. Results demonstrate that the addition of wollastonite significantly improves mechanical properties, while hazelnut shell filler affects thermal behavior and stability. SEBS and SEBS‐g‐MA compatibilizers enhance impact resistance; however, they lead to a decrease in other mechanical properties. DSC and TGA analyses demonstrate changes in crystallization behavior and thermal stability due to filler and compatibilizer incorporation. SEM microstructure images show the distribution of SEBS and SEBS‐g‐MA within the composite structure, affecting mechanical and thermal properties. Overall, this study highlights the importance of filler selection, compatibilizer addition, and their distribution in attaining desired properties for industrial applications. Future research should focus on optimizing formulations for specific uses and assessing long‐term performance under real‐world conditions.

Microstructure, Thermal and Mechanical Properties of AlN-MgO Composites Prepared by Spark Plasma Sintering

AlN-MgO composites with different compositions were prepared by spark plasma sintering, and the effects of their composition on their microstructure, thermal properties, and mechanical properties were systemically investigated. MgO compositions in the AlN-MgO composites were controlled from 20 to 80 wt%. The results indicated that a phase transition did not occur during the sintering process, and different solid solutions were formed within the MgO and AlN lattices. The AlN-MgO composites exhibited finer-grain microstructures than those of the sintered pure AlN and MgO samples. Transmission electron microscopy analysis showed that both oxygen-rich, low-density grain boundaries and clean boundaries with spinel phases were present in the composites. The sintered pure AlN sample exhibited the highest thermal conductivity (53.2 W/mK) and lowest coefficient of thermal expansion (4.47 × 10<sup>-6</sup> /K) at 100 °C. And, the sintered pure MgO sample exhibited moderate thermal conductivity (39.7 W/mK) and a high coefficient of thermal expansion (13.05 × 10<sup>-6</sup> /K). With increasing MgO contents in the AlN-MgO composites, however, the thermal conductivity of the AlN-MgO composites decreased, from 33.3 to 14.9 W/mK, while their coefficient of thermal expansion generally increased, from 6.49×10<sup>-6</sup> to 10.73×10<sup>-6</sup> /K with increasing MgO content. The composite with an MgO content of 60 wt% exhibited the best mechanical properties overall. Thus, the composition and microstructure of AlN-MgO composites have a determining effect on their thermal and mechanical properties.

Developing Eco-Friendly 3D-Printing Composite Filament: Utilizing Palm Midrib to Reinforce High-Density Polyethylene Matrix in Design Applications.

Designers actively pursue the use of novel materials and concepts in furniture and interior design. By providing insights into their processing behavior and suitability for 3D-printing processes, this research helps to highlight the potential of using waste materials to create more environmentally friendly and sustainable 3D-printing filaments that can be used in furniture and interior design. Furthermore, the study evaluates the effect of incorporating palm midrib nanoparticles (DPFNPs) to reinforce a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) matrix with different loadings such as 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 wt.%. The composites were extruded into filaments using a manual extruder, which was then utilized to fabricate 3D-printed specimens using a 3D-printing pen. The effect of adding DPFNPs on the composite's chemical, thermal, and mechanical properties was evaluated, with a particular focus on how these modifications influence the melt flow rate (MFR) and, subsequently, the material's printability. The results revealed that HDPE and filament composites presented similar FTIR spectra. On the other hand, the filament composites presented an increase in the thermal stability and a decrease in the mechanical strength with increasing DPFNP content in the HDPE matrix. The filaments were successfully printed using a 3D-printing pen. Thus, using DPFNPs in the HDPE matrix presents a low-cost alternative for filament production and may expand 3D-printing applications in interior and furniture design with more sustainable materials. Future work will delve into optimizing these composites for improved printability and assessing their recyclability, aiming to broaden their applications in 3D printing and beyond.

CoFe2O4/PANI/MWCNTs ternary hybrid composites. Synthesis, characterization, the effect of MWCNTs ratio and dye removal capability.

We have synthesized cobalt ferrite (CoFe2O4) using the sucrose auto-combustion method and subsequently employed the in situ polymerization technique to fabricate ternary composites comprising CoFe2O4, polyaniline (PANI), and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). In this novel investigation, we explored the influence of varying MWCNTs ratios on these composites' structural, magnetic, thermal, and electrical properties. The crystal structures of the synthesized composites were analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), while Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy revealed changes in bonding patterns, including the disappearance of ferrite bonds and the emergence of new ones. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images illustrated a complete coating of PANI on both MWCNTs and CoFe2O4 particles, resulting in a substantial reduction in magnetization compared to pure CoFe2O4 ferrite due to PANI's nonmagnetic nature. Vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) measurements confirmed this reduction, indicating a decrease to 7.3 emu.g-1. Thermal analysis demonstrated an enhancement in thermal stability with increasing MWCNTs content, as evidenced by an increase in the temperature equivalent for half decomposition (T50) from 486 to 522°C for composites with 40% MWCNTs. Moreover, the electrical conductivity showed a corresponding rise with MWCNTs content, increasing from 3.1 × 10-3 Ω-1.cm-1 to 2.2 × 10-2 Ω-1.cm-1, possibly indicating charge transfer from PANI to MWCNTs. To assess practical applications, we investigated the ability of the composite with 40% MWCNTs to remove phenol red (PR) dye from aqueous solutions. Through a systematic study of adsorption parameters and kinetics, we determined optimal conditions for effective dye removal and elucidated the underlying adsorption mechanism. Our results demonstrated the composite's efficiency in dye removal, with a 6.4mg·g-1 capacity for PR dye, highlighting its potential for environmental remediation efforts.

Experimental Investigation of Date seed and Neem Powder Reinforced Natural Fiber Composites

Natural fillers have received great attention among researchers due their its light weight, high strength, degradability, and eco-friendly behavior. This work is focused on developing a laminate of date palm seed powder and neem gum powder reinforced epoxy resin. Epoxy resin is an excellent thermoset polymer with anoutstanding cost to performance ratio. Date palm seeds have highly competitive properties in improving the mechanical and thermal properties of composites by their good adherence to polymer matrix. Neem gum powder is used as a binder in increasing ratios of 0 %, 10 %, 15 %, 20 %, 25 %, and 30 % to test their strength in different compositions. Date seed powder has been reinforced in decreasing weight percent as 30 %, 25 %, 20 %, 15 %, 10 %, 5 %, and 0 %. The specimens prepared through the compression moulding technique were subjected to various mechanical tests like a tensile test, flexural test, and impact test as per the ASTM standards. Fractography analysis using FESEM (Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy) and FT-IR(Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy) test have determined the surface characteristics and chemical composition of the samples. The result shows that, by adding neem gum powder in increasing quantities the mechanical properties like tensile and flexural decreases. However, it does not affect the impact strength of the material. A detailed study of their behavior is discussed in this work.

Impact of ionic liquids on the thermal properties of polymer composites

Abstract The integration of ionic liquids and polymer composites has become a promising way to improve their thermal properties, representing a notable advancement in the development of advanced materials for specific applications. Their thermal properties heavily influence the suitability of polymer composites for particular applications. It is imperative to understand and manipulate the thermal behavior of these composites to optimize their performance across various fields. In this mini-review, diverse polymer matrices and fillers utilized in polymer composites containing ionic liquids are categorized. Additionally, various ionic liquids employed in studies related to the thermal properties of polymer composites are identified. The impact of ionic liquids on the thermal properties of these composites is also briefly reviewed. The knowledge illustrated in this review enriches the understanding of the types of polymer matrices and fillers used in conjunction with ionic liquids, as well as their thermal properties. In a nutshell, imidazolium-based ionic liquids with tetrafluoroborate, bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide, hexafluorophosphate, halides, and hydrogen sulfate anions have the impact of improving the glass transition temperature, melting temperature, degradation temperature, and thermal conductivity of thermoplastic, thermosetting, and elastomer composites.

Formation of Conductive Networks in Polysulfone Filled with Graphite-Derived Materials

Composites based on polysulfone materials filled with various types of graphite and carbon black were studied and a solution technique was used to create composite materials with filling degrees ranging from 30 to 70% by weight. High filling levels with graphite fillers enabled thermal conductivity of 17.4 W/m·K to be achieved. The addition of carbon black as a filler to the composite helped to improve its mechanical characteristics, and its influence on electrical and thermal conductivity has also been explored. Natural graphite provides the best effect on composite thermal and electrical properties, whereas using artificial graphite allows to improve the mechanical behavior of composites. The relationship between sample density, porosity, and composition, as well as the effect of these factors on composite conductivity, has been studied and addressed.

Influence of Graphitic Carbon Nitride (g-C3N4) on Mechanical and Thermal Properties of Pineapple Leaf Fibre Reinforced Polyester Resin Composites

Natural fibres, which are recyclable and environment friendly, are becoming more popular than synthetic fibres which are commonly utilized in manufacturing composite materials. Scientists have drawn attention to natural fibres because of their availability, cost-effectiveness, and biodegradability. Recently, it has been popular practice to include natural fibres in composite materials for industrial uses. The research deals with the fabrication of pineapple leaf fibre (PALF) reinforced polyester composites prepared from PALF used as reinforcement with 6 wt% (weight fraction). Synthesized graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) was used as filler in different weight fractions such as 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, and 1.00 % to improve the mechanical and thermal properties of the fabricated composites. Graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) was synthesized by one-step heating methods from scrap melamine. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy was utilized to characterize g-C3N4 and ensured successful synthesis. According to the results, the composite with 0.75 wt% of g-C3N4 has a higher modulus and tensile strength. Tensile strength increases as g-C3N4 weight percentages rise, demonstrating the filler's beneficial effects. The appearance of cracks in PALF/polyester composites with g-C3N4 was captured by scanning electron microscopy, which points to the morphological changes arising after tensile testing. With the addition of g-C3N4 in several weight percentages, the thermal resistance and water repellency of composites were significantly improved. Overall, this research reveals the effect of filler weight percentage on the mechanical, thermal, and morphological properties of PALF/polyester composite. The investigation concludes that a defined weight proportion of g-C3N4 with PALF and polyester resin produces composite materials with acceptable mechanical properties suitable for engineering applications where composites are best.

Contribution of silane modification of halloysite nanotube to its poly (butylene terephthalate)-based nanocomposites: structural, mechanical and thermal properties

AbstractPolybutylene terephthalate (PBT) nanocomposites were melt-blended with two types of Turkish halloysite nanotubes (HN). Naturally occurring HN samples were used to produce PBT-based composites at the HN compositions of 1%, 3%, 5%, and 10%. Findings of neat and silane-coated HN-containing composite samples were compared to investigate the interfacial adhesion between polymer matrix and reinforcement material. According to test results, a 1% amount of HN was found to be the most suitable option in the case of mechanical and thermal properties of composites. Additionally, silane-modified grade displayed highly indicative improvements compared to pristine HN clay due to better interfacial adhesion of halloysite nanotubes to the PBT matrix was accomplished. Property enhancements achieved for composite samples containing low contents of HN were confirmed by morphological examinations. As a result, the PBT/ 1% HN-S composite sample was bookmarked as the most suitable option to fabricate HN-reinforced PBT-based nanocomposites in terms of mechanical, thermo-mechanical, morphological, thermal, and physical performances based on the findings in this study. Silane-modified halloysite grades exhibited better results, and they were found to be more suitable in the case of applications of PBT. Graphical abstract

Effect of biaxial stretching on the physical and mechanical properties of the HDPE/LDPE blend

Four different types of HDPE and LDPE were prepared, and samples (H4, L2, and L3) that exhibited similar molecular weight, melt flow index, and rheological properties as BOPE (BO) were screened. The samples were each blended, and the better compatibility of HDPE/LDPE blend system (HL1) was confirmed through the Cole-Cole plot. Thermal and thermo-mechanical properties of HL1 blend compositions were analyzed to optimize the compositions for biaxial stretching application. Especially, G′ and Tan δ were confirmed as tools to evaluate the feasibility of optimized compositions for biaxial stretching application, and the proper range of stretching temperature at which the ΔTan δ value maintained minimal energy change for biaxial stretching was determined. The modulus of the biaxially stretched samples x3 was improved by more than 10% compared to the existing sheet, and the elongation at break of all blend samples was approximately twice as good as that of BO. The better optical transparency was achieved as of biaxial stretching of blend samples, and crystal change in the stretched film compared to the sheet was clearly confirmed. From this work, it was confirmed that the G′ and Tan δ have been proved to be used as a parameter to assess the processability for biaxial stretching, and this process gave the advantage of the optimized HDPE/LDPE blend ratio with higher mechanical and optical clarity, suggesting that the blend could be applied to various packaging materials.

Mechanical, Optical, and Thermal Properties of SnS2-Filled PVA Composites

The effects of tin disulfide (SnS2) addition on the mechanical, thermal, and optical characteristics of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) were determined in this study. The solvent-casting approach was used to create composite films with varying SnS2 weight ratios. Mechanical testing revealed that the addition of SnS2 raised the tensile strength (TS) of the virgin PVA from 32.10 MPa to 47.50 MPa, while the elongation at break (EB) increased from 78.40% to 108.80%. Optical investigations revealed that PVA and SnS2 had intermolecular interactions. Furthermore, the contribution of SnS2 resulted in a drop in energy bandwidth from 5.310 eV to 4.821 eV. Thermal investigations revealed that PVA/SnS2 had greater stability than the virgin polymer. Given the data obtained, it was obtained that the addition of SnS2 simultaneously enhanced the mechanical, thermal, and optical properties of PVA.

Effect of Fillers Modification with ILs on Fillers Textural Properties: Thermal Properties of SBR Composites.

In this work, we present the effect of graphene nanoplatelets (GnPs) modification with ionic liquids (ILs). The textural properties of graphene nanoplatelets (GnPs) used as styrene-butadiene rubber's filler and the thermal properties of the composites obtained with the use of the mentioned fillers were investigated. GnPs were modified with 1-butylpyridinium bromide (BPyBr) and 4-methyl-1-butylpyridinium bromide (BmPyBr) through two different ways. One strategy has been to deposit the filler modifier from the solution. The second one involved the modification of the filler with ionic liquids in bulk during the preparation of elastomer blends. Settlement of the proposed ionic liquids onto the GnPs' surface led to significant changes in the textural characteristics. BPyBr has restricted the filler's microporosity, whereas BmPyBr has caused the formation of a more opened filler structure without the increase in its average pore size. GnPs modified with ILs led to reducing the temperature of vulcanization of SBR compounds and affected the thermal stability of the composites.

Investigating the Effect of Varied Short Bamboo Fiber Content on the Thermal, Impact, and Flexural Properties of Green Epoxy Composites

ABSTRACT In this study, the thermal and mechanical characteristics of bamboo fiber-reinforced greenpoxy matrix composites were evaluated by varying the fiber loading from 30wt.% to 60wt.% during the compression molding process. The thermal behavior using dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and their impact and flexural properties of the composites were studied. The results indicate that thermal characterization, the highest peak E’ was observed: B-40 > B-60 > B-30 > B-50, while the peak E’‘ was found to be B-40 > B-30 > B-60 > B-50. The order for tan delta was B-30 > B-40 > B-50 > B-60. The TGA results indicated improved thermal stability with increasing fiber loading, as evidenced by higher residue % and lower weight loss %. Regarding the mechanical properties the impact strength of the composites increased with increasing fiber loading, with the maximum value of 8435.33 J/m2 at 50wt.%. The composite with a 60wt.% fiber loading showed the highest flexural modulus (4.70GPa), while the flexural strength improved at 40wt.%. The SEM analysis of fractured specimens from flexural tests of composite materials with varying fiber volume fractions revealed that an optimal balance between fiber and matrix resin enhanced mechanical properties.

Fresh, Mechanical, and Thermal Properties of Cement Composites Containing Recycled Foam Concrete as Partial Replacement of Cement and Fine Aggregate.

The research presented in this article was conducted to evaluate the suitability of recycled foam concrete (RFC) as an ingredient in newly created cement mortars. The basis for an analysis was the assumption that the waste is collected selectively after separation from other waste generated during demolition. The motivation for the research and its main problem is a comparison of the performance of RFC used in various forms. RFC was used in two forms: (1) recycled foam concrete dust (RFCD) as a 25 and 50% replacement of cement, and (2) recycled foam concrete fine aggregate (RFCA) as a 10, 20, and 30% replacement of sand. The basic properties of fresh and hardened mortars were determined: consistency, density, initial setting time, absorbability, compressive strength, thermal conductivity coefficient, and heat capacity. Research is complemented with SEM observations. The properties of fresh mortars and mechanical parameters were decreased with the usage of any dosage of RFC in any form, but the thermal properties were improved. The required superplasticizer amount for proper consistency was raised four times for replacing cement with 50% of RFCD than for 25% of such replacement. The mix density dropped by about 8% and 9% for mortars with the replacement of 50% cement by RFCD and 30% sand by RFCA in comparison to reference mortar. A 30% decrease in initial setting time was observed for cement replacement. In the case of sand replacement, it was the opposite-an increase of 100%. The dry density decreased by about 14% and 11% for mortars with the replacement of 50% cement by RFCD and 30% sand by RFCA in comparison to reference mortar. Absorbability was raised by about two times after replacement with both RFCD and RFCA. Compressive strength after 28 days dropped significantly by 75% and 60%, and the thermal conductivity coefficient decreased by 20% and 50% with 50% RFCD added instead of cement and 30% RFCA replacing sand. It indicates greater efficiency in thermomechanical means from RFCA in comparison to RFCD. This material can be used especially in the production of plaster and masonry mortar. Linear correlations of dry density and thermal conductivity coefficient and the latter and compressive strength were proven as reliable for RFCD replacement of cement and RFCA replacement of sand in mortars with greater w/c ratio.

Investigation of Dielectric, Mechanical, and Thermal Properties of Epoxy Composites Embedded with Quartz Fibers.

Polymer matrix wave transparent composites are used in a variety of high-speed communication applications. One of the applications of these involves making protective enclosures for antennas of microwave towers, air vehicles, weather radars, and underwater communication devices. Material performance, structural, thermal, and mechanical degradation are matters of concern as advanced wireless communication needs robust materials for radomes that can withstand mechanical and thermal stresses. These polymer composite radomes are installed externally on antennas and are exposed directly to ambient as well as severe conditions. In this research, epoxy resin was reinforced with a small amount of quartz fibers to yield an improved composite radome material compared to a pure epoxy composite with better thermal and mechanical properties. FTIR spectra, SEM morphology, dielectric constant (Ɛr) and dielectric loss (δ), thermal degradation (weight loss), and mechanical properties were determined. Compared to pure epoxy, the lowest values of Ɛr and δ were 3.26 and 0.021 with 30 wt.% quartz fibers in the composite, while 40% less weight loss was observed which shows its better thermal stability. The mechanical characteristics encompassing tensile and bending strength were improved by 42.8% and 48.3%. In high-speed communication applications, compared to a pure epoxy composite, adding only a small quantity of quartz fiber can improve the composite material's dielectric performance, durability, and thermal and mechanical strength.

PLA-Based Hybrid Biocomposites: Effects of Fiber Type, Fiber Content, and Annealing on Thermal and Mechanical Properties.

In this study, we utilized a hybridization approach for two different fibers to overcome the drawbacks of single-fiber-reinforced PLA composites. Coir fiber and bamboo leaf fiber were used as reinforcing natural fibers as their properties complement one another. Additionally, we combined thermal annealing with hybridization techniques to further improve the overall properties of the composites. The results showed that the hybridization of BF: CF with a ratio of 1:2 gave PLA-based hybrid composites optimal mechanical and thermal properties. Furthermore, the improvement in the thermal stability of hybrid composites, attributable to an increase in crystallinity, was a result of thermal annealing. The improvement in HDT in annealed 1BF:2CF hybrid composite was about 13.76% higher than that of the neat PLA. Annealing of the composites led to increased crystallinity, which was confirmed using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The synergistic effect of hybridization and annealing, leading to the improvement in the thermal properties, opened up the possibilities for the use of PLA-based composites. In this study, we demonstrated that a combined technique can be utilized as a strategy for improving the properties of 100% biocomposites and help overcome some limitations of the use of PLA in many applications.

Material properties of spray‐dried cellulose nanocrystal reinforced homopolymer polypropylene composites

AbstractSpray‐dried cellulose nanocrystal (SDCNC) particles have attracted intense interest as reinforcements in polymer composites because of their unique physical and mechanical properties. This work aims to develop homopolymer polypropylene (HPP) composites with different loading levels of SDCNC particles (5, 10, 15, and 30 wt%) to understand their impact on composite mechanical, morphological, and thermal properties. The SDCNC‐reinforced HPP composites were manufactured using a C.W. Brabender bowl internal mixer with a masterbatch concept and an injection molding process. The mechanical, morphological, and thermal properties of the composites were investigated. Compared to pure HPP, the tensile, and flexural modulus of elasticity (MOE) of composites with 30 wt% SDCNC significantly increased by up to 67% and 49%. The impact strength of the composites with the absence of a compatibilizer significantly increased by up to 19%, which was attributed to the mechanical interlocking network established between SDCNC particles and HPP. Additionally, increasing SDCNC loading in the composites led to higher crystallization peak temperatures and increased the degree of crystallinity (especially at 30 wt% SDCNC content), indicating that the SDCNC particles can act as heterogeneous nucleating agents during the crystallization process. The thermal stability of the composite was slightly improved upon SDCNC introduction.Highlights With the incorporation of spray‐dried cellulose nanocrystal (SDCNC), the tensile modulus of elasticity (MOE), flexural MOE, and impact strength of filled homopolymer polypropylene (HPP) composites were significantly improved by up to 67%, 49%, and 19%, respectively. Mechanical interlocking network established between SDCNC and HPP contributed to the enhanced the impact strength. SDCNC particles can act as heterogeneous nucleating agents to promote the crystallization process of HPP. SDCNC particles slightly enhanced the thermal stability of HPP composite.

Effect of MWCNT Anchoring to Para-Aramid Fiber Surface on the Thermal, Mechanical, and Impact Properties of Para-Aramid Fabric-Reinforced Vinyl Ester Composites

In the present work, para-aramid fabrics (p-AF) were physically modified via an anchoring process of 0.05 wt% MWCNT to the aramid fiber surfaces by coating the MWCNT/phenolic/methanol mixture on p-AF, and then by thermally curing phenolic resin of 0.01 wt%. Para-aramid fabric-reinforced vinyl ester (p-AF/VE) composites were fabricated using p-AF/VE prepregs by compression molding. The effect of MWCNT anchoring on the thermo-dimensional, thermal deflection resistant, dynamic mechanical, mechanical, and impact properties and the energy absorption behavior of p-AF/VE composites was extensively investigated in terms of coefficient of linear thermal expansion, heat deflection temperature, storage modulus, tan δ, tensile, flexural, and Izod impact properties and a drop-weight impact response. The results well agreed with each other, supporting the improved properties of p-AF/VE composites, which were attributed to the effect of MWCNT anchoring performed on the aramid fiber surfaces.

AbstractContemporary researchers are directing attention towards enhancing the structural integrity of biodegradable matrices, such as polylactic acid (PLA), through the incorporation of plant fibers. The utilization of novel fibers is becoming more prevalent to achieve the specific demands of composite applications, particularly in the automotive and packaging fields. Woven fabrics are commonly favored for reinforcing composites due to their elevated specific strength and dimensional stability. In pursuit of this context, we have developed a unique woven fabric using 100% okra fiber and utilized it in the production of PLA biocomposites. This approach was made due to the unexplored potential of okra woven fabric in the field of composite manufacturing. To optimize the performance of the composites, three distinct weight proportions of okra woven fabric (OWF) were chosen, including 20%, 30%, and 40%. The obtained composites were mechanically, morphologically, and thermally characterized. The manufactured composite's maximum tensile and thermal property was attained by adding 20% OWF to the PLA. Scanning electron microscopy analysis revealed that 20% OWF composite possessed superior fiber‐matrix adhesion, improving all properties' efficacy. The overall findings reveal that the OWF/PLA composites are promising as a green material for applications in the automotive and packaging industries.Highlights A novel class of composite has been created using 100% okra woven fabric. The composite with 20% fabric content showed the best mechanical properties. Thermal properties of composites are also optimized using 20% fabric content. SEM confirms the strong fiber‐matrix bonding of 20% OWF/PLA composites. The composites are suitable for automotive and packaging applications.
