The failure part of 10·20 large coal and rock outburst accidents is analyzed in Daping coal mine of Zhengzhou Coal Group of Henan province by ANSYS finite element software. The amount of energy released is calculated before and after the failure of the rock mass near the fault in the plane strain, and the energy released is 1.0757 × 109 J. Based on the law of conservation of energy, the theoretical ejection velocity of the rock mass in failure is calculated under the energy dissipation (30%) and no energy dissipation. The results show that the numerical calculation results are basically consistent with that of the on-site engineering accidents, indicating that ANSYS and the energy analysis approach are applied to the field of coal mining. Therefore, based on the method of energy analysis, the risk of impact failure of the remaining coal pillars near the fault is evaluated, which provides a scientific basis for coal pillar protection and mine safety.
