Seni Kaligrafi: Peran dan Kontribusinya Terhadap Pengembangan Peradaban Islam

The art of calligraphy has played an essential role in the history and development of Islamic civilization. The aim of this research is to review the contribution of calligraphy art to the development of culture, religion and science in Islamic civilization. Calligraphy is a form of visual art that is highly valued in the Islamic tradition. Calligraphy not only functions in the field of decoration, but it is also an intermediary in conveying religious messages and moral values. In this research method using historical and textual analysis, researchers found that the art of calligraphy enlarges the intellectual and spiritual life of Muslims, and also becomes an important tool in spreading Islamic teachings. Calligraphy participated in the development of Islamic art and architecture, publishing monumental works that combined aesthetic beauty and depth of religious meaning. This research shows that the art of calligraphy is not only a cultural heritage that must be preserved, but calligraphy also has a sustainable connection in the modern context.

Personal Meaning and Landscape in Mrs. Dalloway: An Ecocritical Study

This research paper applies an ecocritical perspective to Virginia Woolf’s novel Mrs. Dalloway and studies how nature has been used to describe personal feelings of the characters, both major and minor in the context of industrialization and post-World War 1 era in London. Through the ecocritical lens, this paper explores how Woolf links natural elements like flowers, trees and sky with her writing techniques of the stream of consciousness and inner monologue to echo the psychological self of different characters. The ideas presented by the theorist Richard Kerridge, that of a possible ‘poetic engagement’ of literature with the natural world in an industrialized era, and Britain’s nature as a common self-referent have been taken as the framework for this research. The major research questions are: How does Woolf use nature to describe the emotional states of different characters? What role does nature play in the process of pain and healing of the characters? Why does Woolf feel the need to incorporate nature imagery while describing her character’s innermost thoughts? The paper carries out a close textual analysis of the novel, focusing on all the statements that link nature with the characters’ emotions, and draws to a conclusion claiming that this recurrence of nature in Mrs. Dalloway is a deliberate act on the author’s part to at least figuratively preserve nature in a time period that has destroyed as well as pushed nature into the background.

Conflicts in Land Use and Management

As land is limited, conflicts between land uses, and, consequently, conflicts between land users about land use inevitably arise. The objective of this paper is to provide a broad, cross-sectional overview of land use conflicts as perceived by different actors and to explore the actors’ experiences with these conflicts. We conducted 45 face-to-face interviews with key land use actors in the Republic of North Macedonia. Then we applied a qualitative text analysis or identification of keywords to identify the most relevant conflicts across all land use sectors (agriculture, forestry, nature protection, etc.) and their impacts on local actors’ daily experiences. The results show that actors are aware of many diverse land use conflicts, most frequently regarding land uses for environmental/species conservation, forestry, and agriculture. Thus, land use conflicts play an important and mostly negative role in the experiences of land use actors. These findings fill current gaps in the literature on land use conflicts regarding the types of conflicts of which actors are aware and the consequences of these conflicts. The results also underline the relevance of addressing conflicts in land use planning and governance, the need for appropriate conflict management, and the necessity of providing local actors with sufficient resources to deal with land use conflicts.

Time of day effects on consumers’ online review characteristics: Evidence from the homestay platform

Considering the unique mechanism underlying time of day effects due to biological clock on cognition, mood, and behavior, this study seeks to investigate the time of day effects on consumers' online review characteristics in the context of homestay platforms. Mixed approaches were employed, where the textual analysis and econometric analysis were based on the dataset with 189,523 reviews received from Tujia and an online randomized experiment recruited 378 participants. The results show that in the daytime consumers are under high cognitive load and more likely to rely on affective processes rather than cognitive processes when they craft online reviews, and conversely in the nighttime. The emotional expressions extracted from review texts and reflected in online ratings suggest consumers' mood change along time of a day, which further influences their review texts crafting and online ratings posting. Positive (negative) emotions are found to be stronger (weaker) in the daytime than nighttime. This work is conducive to enrichment in extant literature in hospitality academia and numerous rationales and theories in psychology field. Our work suggests important implications for homestay platform operations, hosts' managerial strategies, and consumers’ decision-making.

The Retention of Metaphorical Imagery in Translations of Pasternak's Works into Kazakh and English

In this research the retention of metaphorical content in translations of Boris Pasternak's poems into Kazakh and English was examined, highlighting the complexity of transferring metaphors and the need for further analysis. It evaluates how well metaphorical content is preserved in these translations, noting that despite ef-forts, complete conveyance of metaphorical imagery is often challenging. The methodology involves a com-parative analysis of the original text and its translated version to assess the preservation of metaphors. While some metaphors in Pasternak's works can be effectively conveyed in Kazakh and English, challenges arise when dealing with national-specific metaphors. This study contributes significantly to literary studies, com-parative linguistics, and translation theory, particularly in poetry translation, enhancing understanding of the complexities involved in conveying metaphors in literary works.

The Power of Culture: Business Nationalist Culture and ESG Performance

High-quality development is the theme of China’s economic and social development in the new era, and corporate ESG performance is a comprehensive indicator for evaluating the level of corporate environmental responsibility, social responsibility and governance, as well as an important yardstick for identifying the high-quality development of enterprises. This paper takes Chinese non-financial listed companies from 2011 to 2022 as the research sample and empirically examines the impact of corporate nationalism culture on corporate ESG performance and its mechanism by quantifying corporate nationalism culture using the text of corporate annual reports, natural language processing and text analysis methods. The results of the study show that corporate nationalism culture significantly enhances corporate ESG performance. The mechanism analysis suggests that corporate nationalism culture, as an internal informal system, can play a governance role and promote corporate ESG practices by changing attention allocation and mitigating agency problems. The positive effect of corporate nationalism culture on corporate ESG performance is more pronounced in the grouping of firms with lower institutional investor shareholding, fewer analysts’ attention and embedded party organisations. A heterogeneity analysis reveals that the corporate nationalism culture driving effect on corporate ESG performance is more significant in the subsample of firms with weak financing constraints, in the growth period and in the decline period. This study reveals the positive role of soft cultural factors in enhancing corporate ESG performance, providing useful managerial evidence for companies to integrate ESG concepts at the strategic level for high-quality economic development.

A novel hybrid deep learning IChOA-CNN-LSTM model for modality-enriched and multilingual emotion recognition in social media.

In the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence, the importance of multimodal sentiment analysis has never been more evident, especially amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Our research addresses the critical need to understand public sentiment across various dimensions of this crisis by integrating data from multiple modalities, such as text, images, audio, and videos sourced from platforms like Twitter. Conventional methods, which primarily focus on text analysis, often fall short in capturing the nuanced intricacies of emotional states, necessitating a more comprehensive approach. To tackle this challenge, our proposed framework introduces a novel hybrid model, IChOA-CNN-LSTM, which leverages Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for precise image feature extraction, Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks for sequential data analysis, and an Improved Chimp Optimization Algorithm for effective feature fusion. Remarkably, our model achieves an impressive accuracy rate of 97.8%, outperforming existing approaches in the field. Additionally, by integrating the GeoCoV19 dataset, we facilitate a comprehensive analysis that spans linguistic and geographical boundaries, enriching our understanding of global pandemic discourse and providing critical insights for informed decision-making in public health crises. Through this holistic approach and innovative techniques, our research significantly advances multimodal sentiment analysis, offering a robust framework for deciphering the complex interplay of emotions during unprecedented global challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic.

THE IMAGE OF KAZAKH ZOO-PHRASEOLOGISMS IN TRANSLATION (on the basis of novel “The Nomads” by I. Esenberlin in Kazakh, Russian and English languages)

The article considers the translation problems of zoo-phraseologisms of Kazakh language. The translation problem is an actual and complex theme and translation of phraseological units is an interesting task which needs special creativity. The main objective of a translator is to find phraseologism in a sentence and distinguish its ethocultural peculiarities and translation of such a phraseological unit keeping their national features is a rather complicated problem. That is why the actuality and the importance of the given articlegroup with these problems. Phraseological units of ethnocultural character does not replicate in the second language, and cannot be found in dictionaries. Therefore the scientific novelty of the article is the identification and analysis of translation methods of phraseological units of ethnocultural character which describe the culture, lifestyle and worldview of definite people. The article aims to make definite conclusions according to the results of research work by analyzing the methods of translating phraseological units appropriate to the definite nation, defining the failures and successes of translation.The translation methods of Kazakh phraseologisms into Russian and English languages are compared and analysed on the basis of the trilogy “The Nomads” by I. Essenberlin. Using the phraseologisms with zoo-component as the main material, the ways of translation (comparative, descriptive methods) were analysed. The meaning of them can be different while translating into other language, and so translators should try to keep the meaning of the word combination correctly or find the right analogue to make the reader understand the translated phrasal combination. Thepractical significance of the research with scientific value can be used at the courses of Lexicology, Phraseology, The theory and practice of translation, and as the lexical material in subjects as Linguocultorology and Linguistic analysis of literary texts and to compile dictionaries in higher education institutes.

Evaluation of emotion classification schemes in social media text: an annotation-based approach

BackgroundEmotion analysis of social media texts is an innovative method for gaining insight into the mental state of the public and understanding social phenomena. However, emotion is a complex psychological phenomenon, and there are various emotion classification schemes. Which one is suitable for textual emotion analysis?MethodsWe proposed a framework for evaluating emotion classification schemes based on manual annotation experiments. Considering both the quality and efficiency of emotion analysis, we identified five criteria, which are solidity, coverage, agreement, compactness, and distinction. Qualitative and quantitative factors were synthesized using the AHP, where quantitative metrics were derived from annotation experiments. Applying this framework, 2848 Sina Weibo posts related to public events were used to evaluate the five emotion schemes: SemEval’s four emotions, Ekman’s six basic emotions, ancient China’s Seven Emotions, Plutchik’s eight primary emotions, and GoEmotions’ 27 emotions.ResultsThe AHP evaluation result shows that Ekman’s scheme had the highest score. The multi-dimensional scaling (MDS) analysis shows that Ekman, Plutchik, and the Seven Emotions are relatively similar. We analyzed Ekman’s six basic emotions in relation to the emotion categories of the other schemes. The correspondence analysis shows that the Seven Emotions’ joy aligns with Ekman’s happiness, love demonstrates a significant correlation with happiness, but desire is not significantly correlated with any emotion. Compared to Ekman, Plutchik has two more positive emotions: trust and anticipation. Trust is somewhat associated with happiness, but anticipation is weakly associated with happiness. Each emotion of Ekman’s corresponds to several similar emotions in GoEmotions. However, some emotions in GoEmotions are not clearly related to Ekman’s, such as approval, love, pride, amusement, etc.ConclusionEkman’s scheme performs best under the evaluation framework. However, it lacks sufficient positive emotion categories for the corpus.

Quran's Insight On Human Rights

This study focuses on the growing global debate about human rights and the role of religion, particularly Islam, in shaping these concepts. The research aims to analyze the Quran's perspective on human rights, identifying fundamental principles that affirm universal values such as justice, Freedom, and equality. This study employs a qualitative method with a textual analysis approach to relevant Quranic verses. The findings reveal that the Quran explicitly recognizes fundamental human rights, including the right to life, Freedom of religion, and protection from oppression. The discussion also highlights that a comprehensive and contextual interpretation of the Quranic verses is necessary to understand the Islamic perspective on human rights in the modern context. The study concludes that the Quran provides a solid ethical and moral foundation for human rights, but its application depends on proper interpretation by Muslim communities worldwide. The research suggests the need for further dialogue between religious traditions and international law to support the global protection of human rights.

Is human capital risk lower in state-owned enterprises? — A textual analysis based on China's listed company annual reports

Based on the annual reports of China's A-share listed companies from 2007 to 2020, this paper constructs a human capital risk index of China's listed companies through the methods of machine learning and explores the impact of state ownership on corporate human capital risk. The results show that compared with non-state-owned enterprises (non-SOEs), state-owned enterprises (SOEs) have lower human capital risk in China. Mechanism tests suggest that SOEs can offer higher compensation and benefits and maintain more stable employment relationships, which reduce human capital risk significantly. Additionally, this effect is more pronounced during periods of high economic policy uncertainty, in regions with weaker talent policies, and in areas with a lower proportion of aging labor force. The study also reveals that SOEs have lower human capital attraction and human capital retention risk than non-SOEs. Furthermore, SOEs have more educated and skilled employees, which contributes to higher human capital. Last, this study finds state ownership enhances innovation output, total factor productivity, and economic value added by mitigating human capital risk.

Crossing boundaries in an age of post-translation studies

Abstract The cycle of symphonic songs Das Lied von der Erde was based on Die Chinesische Flöte, a German version of classical Chinese poems. As a result, Die Chinesische Flöte crossed the boundary between literature and music, encompassing intralingual, interlingual, and intersemiotic translations. While comparative textual analysis reveals that these two works made changes to the original Chinese texts, intersemiotic translation illustrates that the borders between verbal texts and nonverbal works are fluid. This post-translation study traces the translation context of Das Lied, maps Die Chinesische Flöte’s transitions between literary and musical polysystems, and traces Das Lied’s afterlife in the creation of new artworks. It concludes that poetry, music, and other art forms can mutually translate, complement, and become afterlives of one another.

The thousand faces of images in AI news: psychological distance, dialectical relationships and sensationalism

ABSTRACT Existing research on media coverage of AI has mostly focused on textual analysis with a lack of attention to visual factors presented in news. Moreover, studies of visual framing often rely on a small sample of manually labeled images and thus suffer from a low ecological validity. To address these issues, we used image data obtained from AItopics to cluster the images through the Resnet50 deep learning model and Kmeans++. Three major visual frames based on 10 clustering results were identified via open coding: psychological distance, dialectical relationships, and sensationalism. Specifically, by displaying a more lifelike and materialistic image of AI, news may shorten the psychological distance between readers and AI; by juxtaposing two opposite entities, news may reinforce a dialectical relationship between humans and AI; through the use of colors and symbols, news may become sensationalized and elicit affective reactions from readers. Our findings provide a new framework for analyzing media visuals about AI, and highlight the need that media reporting be more comprehensive, balanced, and objective in their selection of images to communicate topics of the like.

"Über den Ausgang des Heiligen Geistes": Eine Schrift eines anonymen Russen als Beilage im Brief von Simon Budny an Heinrich Bullinger vom 18. April 1563

Simon Budny (ca. 1530–1591) was a Reformed pastor who became a wellknown leader of the Anti-Trinitarian movement in Lithuania. In 1563, Budny wrote a letter to Heinrich Bullinger asking for his opinion on the filioque, which was the object of intense discussion in Lithuania. Budny enclosed a small work written by an anonymous Russian Orthodox author titled De processione Spiritus sancti that contains the main exegetical and theological arguments against the filioque (Zurich Staatsarchiv, E II 367, 231–242). This contribution includes an historical introduction, an edition, a German translation, and a text analysis. I propose that the anonymous author of this text may be the famous Russian theologian Maksim Grek (1470–1556) or one of his students, because the language, the content, the argumentation, the Biblical and Patristic proofs are similar to his Anti-Roman-Catholic works written between 1518 and 1525.

Institutional, humane, therapeutic: Towards an understanding of caregiver violence through third sector violence prevention discourse in Finland.

Violence in family caregiving, once a social taboo, is now emerging as a topic of scientific inquiry. Engaging with a non-normative approach to care and critical reflection on research of abusive caregiver behaviour and elder abuse, this study argues that as caregiver violence is increasingly addressed in research, it is crucial to understand it as a complex issue within its social context. The study adds to this understanding by conducting a discourse analysis of violence prevention programmes in Finland, where third sector organisations have taken the initiative in addressing caregiver violence. Based on analysis of project materials, media texts and expert interviews related to two such violence prevention programmes, the study illuminates how caregiver violence is made intelligible through a combination of three kinds of understanding: institutional, humane and therapeutic. It is suggested that these understandings offer a way forward in thinking about the complex, sensitive topic of caregiver violence in sociological research on care.

Knowledge discovery of patients reviews on breast cancer drugs: Segmentation of side effects using machine learning techniques

Breast cancer stands as the most frequently diagnosed life-threatening cancer among women worldwide. Understanding patients' drug experiences is essential to improving treatment strategies and outcomes. In this research, we conduct knowledge discovery on breast cancer drugs using patients' reviews. A new machine learning approach is developed by employing clustering, text mining and regression techniques. We first use Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) technique to discover the main aspects of patients' experiences from the patients' reviews on breast cancer drugs. We also use Expectation-Maximization (EM) algorithm to segment the data based on patients' overall satisfaction. We then use the Forward Entry Regression technique to find the relationship between aspects of patients' experiences and drug's effectiveness in each segment. The textual reviews analysis on breast cancer drugs found 8 main side effects: Musculoskeletal Effects, Menopausal Effects, Dermatological Effects, Metabolic Effects, Gastrointestinal Effects, Neurological and Cognitive Effects, Respiratory Effects and Cardiovascular. The results are provided and discussed. The findings of this study are expected to offer valuable insights and practical guidance for prospective patients, aiding them in making informed decisions regarding breast cancer drug consumption.

The Predestination Functions in the Structure of the Dream in Mitrush Kuteli’s Opus

Aim. Dreams are usually understood as a mechanism to transform thoughts into images. We use the lexeme mechanism, because the way this happens is not always identifiable or decipherable, and the level of difficulty depends on the density of the symbols that need to be decoded. Dream is said to be a sequence of images, a vision or a close connection with the reality. Having in consideration these statements this paper, aims to unravel and understand the dream and function of the predestination in the long narrative “Great is the horror of Sin, Tat Tanushi of Bubëtima”, by 30’s Albanian writer Mitrush Kuteli (2011). Methods. The methods to sort out the aim are the text analysis, interpretive and comparative ones. The text analysis will involve content analysis, thematic analysis, and discourse analysis. Results. The link between life and death, as depicted through the shifts from dreams to the afterlife, offers a distinct outlook on the world. In Mitrush Kuteli’s prose, the rich transformations both mock the long-standing fear of death and invite the living to keep enjoying life’s pleasures even beyond death. Conclusions. We have made efforts to assert our thesis that in “Great is the horror of sin, Tatë Tanushi of Bubëtima” (2011) the dream has a warning function as well as a fantastic biblical one. The conclusion is both philosophical and fantastical biblical.

The impact and application of artificial intelligence technology on mental health counseling services for college students

With the intensification of social pressure and the enhancement of mental health awareness, the mental health issues of college students have become increasingly prominent, attracting social attention. Mental health counseling services, as an important way to alleviate students’ psychological stress, are facing the dual challenges of a shortage of professionals and growing service demands. In recent years, the application of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in the field of mental health has gradually risen, and its advantages in data analysis, pattern recognition, and natural language processing provide new solutions for mental health counseling services. However, existing research still faces problems such as insufficient understanding and limited emotional interaction capabilities in practical applications. This paper delves into the application of AI technology in mental health counseling services for college students and innovates and improves upon the deficiencies in existing research. The study focuses on two main areas: First, word vector generation technologies based on statistics and language models are used according to different application scenarios, and their effectiveness in the analysis of mental health counseling texts is compared. Second, an improved Seq2Seq model is proposed to enhance the emotional understanding and interaction capabilities of emotional dialogue generation algorithms in mental health counseling. This study not only provides technological support for college mental health counseling services but also opens new research directions and perspectives for the application of AI in the field of mental health.

Contextual analysis of precedent texts for scholarly discourse in theoretical and practical literary studies

The article continues the conceptual description of theoretical and applied literary criticism as an academic discipline and focuses on its historical and methodological aspects. The purpose of the work is to present a strategy for selecting precedent texts of Russian literary criticism and their contextual analysis. The authors consider modern approaches to the definition of scholarly discourse and characterize the special status of the literary studies, on the one hand, striving for a discursive synthesis with linguistics and logic, and on the other – giving greater importance to the subjective sides of personality, which brings it closer to philosophy and fiction. The use of the concept of “precedent texts” (Yu.N. Karaulov) has been clarified in relation to the description of scholarly discourse. The authors substantiate the prospects of a historical and methodological approach to identification of precedent texts in Russian literary criticism of the 20th century, presented as a dynamic semiotic system (Yu.M. Lotman), the scientific “canon” of which undergoes constant transformations in the process of development. They consider the works of A.P. Skaftymov, A. Lezhnev (A.Z. Gorelik), N.Ya. Berkovsky, M.A. Shcheglov, A. Terts (A.D. Sinyavsky), A.P. Chudakov, Yu.A. Karabchievsky as examples of precedent texts. It is proved that the key methodological role in their selection belongs to the concept of context as a set of extra-textual connections of a work, which forms a background for its perception. At the same time, the study of a scholarly text proceeds from the priority of objective contexts over subjective ones, in contrast to the study of fiction. An algorithm of contextual analysis is presented, which includes a consistent consideration of historical, scientific, biographical and bibliographic contexts, which are closely related and influence each other. Their reconstruction has an interdisciplinary character and forms students’ skills of critical selection of contextual information, identification of its factual and heuristic value while observing the principle of historicism. Anticipating the immanent analysis of a scholarly text, contextual analysis also allows a literary researcher to come to a more rational understanding of the role of his own personality in research activities.
