Dual formulation of classicalW-algebras

By extending the concept of \mc, I introduce a dual formulation of (classical) nonlinear extensions of the \vir\ algebra. This dual formulation is closely related to three dimensional actions which are analogous to a \cs\ action. I present an explicit construction in terms of superfields of the $N=2$ super \wfour.

On the self-duality condition in Chern-Simons systems

It is shown that in the Higgs and Chern-Simons Higgs (without the Maxwell term) systems the “self-duality” constraint on the scalar field (combined with the equations of motion) by itself leads to the specific forms for the potential. Similar results are shown to hold also for the supersymmetric extensions of the theories written in terms of superfields. A “supersymmetric self-duality” constraint on the matter superfield is proposed which contains the bosonic one and it leads to the specific forms of superpotentials without invoking arguments based on an explicit N = 2 supersymmetry.

N=1 super-WZW and N=1, 2, 3, 4 super-KdV models as D=2 current superfield theories

We consider the D=2 classical supercurrent field theories with fundamental Poisson-Lie brackets describing the N=1 Kac-Moody (KM) superalgebra and N=1, 2, 3, 4 Virasoro (V) superalgebras in terms of superfields. The most general local supercurrent hamiltonians, with three-current term for the N=1 KM and N=2 V superalgebras, and four-current term for the N=4 V superalgebra are proposed. We obtain the N=1 supersymmetric extension of the classical WZW model and N=1, 2, 3, 4 supersymmetric extensions of KdV equations. The existence of the N=2 KM superalgebra is also discussed.

Coupling the antisymmetric tensor to the supergravity-matter system

The description of the antisymmetric tensor gauge field with Chern-Simons forms in Kähler superspace is used to derive a particular coupling of the antisymmetric tensor to the general supergravity-matter system in terms of superfields as well as component fields. The construction is performed directly in terms of the linear multiplet. The proper duality transformations are presented at the full superfield level. General couplings are shortly discussed.

Kähler transformations and the coupling of matter and Yang-Mills fields to supergravity

It is demonstrated that a geometric interpretation of Kähler transformation in superspace allows to onstruct the full action for matter and Yang-Mills fields coupled to supergravity in a concise way, both in terms of superfields and component fields.

Supertwistors and superfields

The contour integral formulae of the twistor theory are generalized to the supertwistor case. They yield representations of the superconformal algebrasu(2, 2¦N) in terms of superfields with arbitrary conformal weights which are defined either on chiral or on non-chiral superspaces.

Finiteness of N=4 supersymmetric nonlinear σ-models in (1+1) dimensions

We construct a linear supersymmetry transformation using the light-cone coordinate formalism for nonlinear σ-models with N=4 supersymmetry in two space-time dimensions. The lagrangian can then be written in terms of superfields. After using the background field method to obtain a perturbation theory, we show that the N=4 supersymmetric nonlinear σ-model is ultraviolet finite in two space-time dimensions to all orders.

'N=1, D=6' supergravity theory

The superspace torsions constraints are imposed and a solution of the Bianchi identities in terms of superfields and their covariant derivatives is given. The author shows the component fields and exhibit a Lagrangian which couples on-shell supergravity and a matter multiplet. Finally it is shown that after dimensional reduction the N=1, D=6 off-shell supergravity theory yields the N=2, D=4 off-shell conformal supergravity theory.

Stochastic quantization of supersymmetric field theory

The Parisi-Wu stochastic quantization method is applied to supersymmetric field theory. The Langevin equation, which reproduces the Green functions of euclidean field theory, is written in terms of superfields. Supersymmetric U(1) theory under gauge fixing and the large N reduction in chiral SU( N) theory are discussed. Regularization based on the stochastic method is studied also.

Point Transformation in the Stochastic Quantization

We study point transformation in the stochastic quantization method. The effective Lagrangian is simply constructed in terms of superfields. We present a theorem that any equal-time correlation function including fictitious fields equals the corresponding one in the ordinary Euclidean theory. We also mention the invariance of the S-matrix in the framework of the stochastic quantization method.

Point-like particles and off-shell supersymmetry algebras

The reparametrization invariant action, describing supersymmetric particles, is shown to have a non-local symmetry and consequently an enlarged, N = 2, supersymmetry invariance with a central charge. The construction of multiplets of states only involves physical operators - there are no auxiliary states in the theory, even though the supersymmetry algebra applies off-shell. The free field action is described in terms of superfields which are Clifford operators. Comments are made about analogous string theories.

Supergravity supergraphs

We describe perturbation theory for supergravity in terms of superfields, using globally-supersymmetric gauge-breaking terms. In the more convinient gauges, the supergravity superfields are a real four-vector and a chiral scalar.

A complete solution of the Bianchi identities in superspace with supergravity constraints

A short discussion of the superspace formulation of supergravity is given and the Bianchi identities are derived. The supergravity constraints are imposed and the identities are solved in terms of superfields and their covariant derivatives.

Solution to constraints in Wess-Zumino supergravity formalism

We explicitly solve the constraints of the superfield supergravity formalism of Wess and Zumino, for an arbitrary gauge, in terms of superfields. Wess and Zumino's action turns out to be identical to one of a class of actions found earlier by the author: the one with the minimal set of auxiliary fields. We also show how to write chiral Lagrangians, including the cosmological term and the Lagrangian for conformal supergravity.

Extended supersymmetry and gauge theories

A formulation of gauge theories with an extended supersymmetry for N = 2 is given in terms of superfields. The Lagrangian is expressed in terms of superfields and component fields as well.

Perturbation theory in terms of superfields and its application to gauge theories

We formulate a perturbation theory in terms of superfields for Lagrangian field theories which are expressable by chiral or general scalar superfields. Especially we consider the generalized QED model of Wess and Zumino where an additional local gauge symmetry is present. Our calculations are manifestly covariant with respect to supersymmetry and local gauge transformations.
