The present paper discusses the results of the investigation of the stress-deformation state of rocks with a complex geological structure by means of the finite element method. The distribution of stresses in a stratifies rock massif with the heterogeneous deformation properties and pierced by tectonic fractures has been analysed. It has been shown that in the bands with a low deformation modulus the horizontal stresses increase, and that in the bands having a higher deformation modulus than the ambient rocks the tension stresses develop. In the case of inclined bedding, zones of compression and tension tend to form within the slope. The influence of tectonic fissures on a stress state has been estimated.
