Embedding technology at the grassroots: Strategies for localising technology transfer under the UNFCCC technology mechanism

AbstractTechnology transfer to the Global South involves not only technical solutions, but also ‘localising’ or adapting those solutions to place through multiparty learning and problem solving. The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and its Technology Mechanism have largely overlooked the importance of localisation and have created a governance environment that neither reflects the ‘messiness’ of this process, nor the need for flexibility and long‐term collaboration for effective search and discovery, implementation and knowledge creation. This article focuses on the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN), the Technology Mechanism's implementation arm, and the challenges it faces in orchestrating the transfer of technology to the Global South. Drawing on recent empirical research and theories of innovation and experimentalism, the article examines how the CTCN and its associated institutions could be governed in ways that better enable localisation. It argues that successful transfer is more likely to be facilitated through systemic linkages between the CTCN and associated technology processes such as Technology Needs Assessments, and by creating more active processes of technological search, learning, peer review and knowledge exchange.

Mathematics Games Creation by Using Block-Based Programming (Scratch) to Enhance Students Learning Experiences

The use of information technology in making teaching materials by teachers can improve students' learning experiences. One of learning methods that can be adopted with technology integration is game-based learning design. The problem is that teachers generally lack the ability to utilize technology in learning process. Through this service activity, the team provides assistance to teachers at MTsN 5 and MTsN 6 Padang in designing interesting learning process using game-based learning design. This approach produces active involvement of students in the learning process while increasing students' creativity and understanding.

Application of Inventory Information Systems as a Work Practice Management Strategy in Improving Technology Learning in Education Management

This study aims to investigate the application of Inventory Information Systems (IIS) as a work practice management strategy to enhance technology learning in education management. The research explores how the integration of IIS into educational institutions' management systems can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of technology learning processes. Through a comprehensive literature review, this study examines the potential benefits of employing IIS, such as streamlining inventory management, optimizing resource allocation, and facilitating data-driven decision-making in educational settings. Additionally, the research evaluates the challenges and limitations associated with implementing IIS in education management, including infrastructure requirements, staff training needs, and data security concerns. By analyzing case studies and empirical evidence, this study seeks to provide insights into best practices for integrating IIS into education management to foster enhanced technology learning outcomes. The findings of this research contribute to the development of strategies aimed at leveraging inventory information systems as a tool for advancing technology learning in educational institutions.

THE INFLUENCE OF EDUCATIONAL ONLINE GAMES ON STUDENT LEARNING MOTIVATION

Online games use multimedia that is made as attractive as possible so that players get batik satisfaction and use internet access. So online games can have an impact on student learning motivation. This study aims to determine and analyze online games' influence on student learning motivation at SD Muhammadiyah 1 Waru, Sidoarjo Regency. The type of research used is quantitative. Data collection techniques use questionnaires and documentation of students. The results of research that has been conducted show 1) Online games affect learning motivation in students; 2) The application of a comprehensive technology learning process is one alternative strategy to deal with students who have online game addiction; 3) Based on the results of research on children, it can be seen that a) children spend 15% of the time playing the Internet for 30 minutes, then increase by 25% for 2 to 3 hours in one day; b) 60% of children play the Internet for 5 hours per day or more than 5 hours during school holidays. Based on the findings of a simple linear regression test, it was found that the r-count has a significance level of 5%, which is 0.703 > 0.444, and the r-count > the r-table. Thus, Ha believes that online games influence grade students' motivation to learn at SD Muhammadiyah 1 Waru Kabupateln Sidolarjol is acceptable. Hypothesis tests show a significant effect of educational online games on learning motivation in grade 3, 4, and 5 students of SD Muhammadiyah 1 Waru.

The integration of artificial intelligence technology and education has brought great opportunities and major challenges to international Chinese education. As the main body in the process of international Chinese education and teaching activities, the role of Chinese teachers and learners is also changing quietly. Chinese teachers have changed from traditional knowledge teaching to guides of learning resources and knowledge accumulation to technology application and learning process managers to companions of students' growth. Knowledge acquisition and innovation quality: The moderating role of geographical characteristics of technology

Acquiring and absorbing knowledge at different geographic levels is an important step in the technological learning and innovation processes for firms. Geographically bounded knowledge searching and spillover have been shown in various network formats, industries, geographic scopes, and country contexts. This study finds evidence of localized learning in citation networks in the solar photovoltaic balance-of-systems (PV BOS) innovations, and that the levels of localized learning vary based on the degree to which technologies are relevant to local contexts. Thus, this study proposes that the value of local and non-local knowledge on patent quality is contingent on technological characteristics. Leveraging the different degrees of local dependence on four types of technologies in the PV BOS industry, we find that the impact of local knowledge on innovation quality is higher for technologies that are more rooted in local contexts and that the impact of non-local knowledge is higher for technologies that are less relevant to local contexts.

The effect of application of the snowball throwing learning model in improving information and communication technology learning outcomes in students

Background: Education is an interaction between teachers and students to realize a learning process so that students actively develop their potential. To realize the above objectives, teachers are required to innovate the snowball-throwing learning model so that students are more responsive in receiving information. This study aims to see the effect of using the snowball-throwing learning model in improving the learning outcomes of Information and Communication Technology in class VII Junior High School 2 Bontolempangan, Bontolempangan Village, Gowa Regency. Methods: This research uses classroom action research method using 2 cycles. Result: This study found that student activities increased from the first cycle by an average of 24.27 and a percentage of 60.67% in the poor category (enough). In the second cycle, student activity increased to an average of 30.38 and a percentage of 75.95% in the good category. Conclusion: This study concludes that the more frequently applying the snowball-throwing learning model in the Information and Communication Technology learning process, students can understand the material presented quickly and student learning outcomes also increase.

Pembelajaran Teknologi Informasi Dan Komunikasi (TIK) Menggunakan Model Problem Based Learning Dan Sains Teknologi Masyarakat

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) learning will be easier to apply by using relevant learning models in developing students' mindsets such as Problem Based Learning (PBL) and Science, Environment, Technology, Society (SETS). This study will discuss: (1) knowing the causes of Problem Based Learning, (2) knowing the application of technology-based learning among students and society, (3) knowing the creed of processing students' thinking skills in the learning process of information technology (IT) by applying Problem Based Learning (PBL) and Science, Environment, Technology, Society (SETS) models. The sampling technique used is a quasi-experimental method. Both tests and non-tests are data collection processes carried out in this study. The tests carried out are the initial test (pretest) and the final test (posttest). From this study, obtaining results and applying the N-gain test in the experimental class obtained a value of 0.54 in the moderate category, in the control class a value of 0.31 was obtained in the moderate category. From the results of the research it can be concluded that the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model and Science, Environment, Technology, Society (SETS) in the ICT learning process, get very good and positive responses from students and have an effect on increasing students' ability to think critically

Relationship of Effective Teaching and Teachers’ Training about Technology for Primary Students

Significance of innovation plays vital part in all fields of life especially teaching and learning process. The primary purpose of the study was to examine the effect of innovations of technology on the instructors' presentation at primary level. To address the mentioned objective it was focused to see that there is no strong contrast in the effect of mechanical technology training on the educator' performance. Quantitatively by utilizing five point likert scale instrument data was collected from 401 instructors instructing to primary students. The gathered information was analysed by utilizing SPSS programming. Inferential measurements were utilized and found a strong relationship of technological training and effective teaching learning process. The teachers trained through technological innovation performed better than other teachers. On the foundations of facts it was suggested that there ought to be boost of technology in instructional courses for quality schooling.

Analysis of the Social Capital in a Technological System of a Smart City Using a PLS-SEM Model

In this paper, social capital was analyzed through the lens of the resources and capabilities theory, understanding it as a capability that has a role in the performance of the Smart City. Social capital relates to the technological capabilities and the technological learning process. The objective of this investigation was to build a representation model of the social capital resources and technological learning, taking social capital as a capability of the Smart City. First, on a methodological level, a preliminary exercise that shows the relation and the gaps between the concepts and the process to build the model are presented. Later, the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to build the conceptual and measured model. Based on the configuration of the tangible variables, the model was tested with the information provided by the final users of the public urban bicycle system of the Medellín–EnCicla technological system. The impact of technological learning is interpreted by relating it to the sources of social capital, to its resources (trust, social interaction, and shared vision), and to the technological system chosen. As a result, the construction of an exploratory model is presented that interprets the resources of social capital and their relation to technological learning in a smart city. The investigation aims to contribute to the decision-making exercise in the public policies regarding the sustainable mobility of the smart city that was the object of study.

DEVELOPMENT OF GEOSPATIAL INFORMATION INTEGRATED WITH BIG DATA TO AGRICULTURAL HAZARD MONITORING IN WEST JAVA

Abstract. Food security is highly dependent on three aspects, namely food availability, food access, and food utilization. The availability aspect depends on food supply which is identical to agricultural productivity. West Java Province is the third national rice producer with 16.6%, but West Java Province is the most extensive rice consumer, around 21.1% of the total national rice consumption. Agricultural productivity can decline due to natural hazards such as floods and droughts. Monitoring floods and droughts in paddy fields are necessary to prevent decreased agricultural productivity. This study aims to monitor the rice fields from the dangers of flooding and drought every month. Agricultural hazard monitoring is divided into two parameters, namely static parameters and dynamic parameters. Dynamic parameters are observed every month so that the hazard index is generated on a monthly scale. GIS and Remote sensing data are integrated to perform agricultural hazard modelling. Furthermore, this agricultural hazard modelling results will be strengthened by using big to provide information about an almost real-time event that can be accessed through the Application Program Interface (API) service. This study uses a data mining system from Drone Emprit that performs data mining on Twitter and news portals with machine learning technology (probabilistic classifier) and Natural Learning Process. The results obtained are around 15,000 data from January 1 to November 1, 2021, and 37.9% of them are identified by location based on the city or district level in West Java Province. It is hoped that the policy-maker can consider the area of agricultural land that requires assistance to increase productivity and plan a policy to support agriculture in West Java in the future.

Using Online Podcast as a Speaking Activity in Online Classroom

In digital era, English educators are required to improve the quality of the learning instruction by integrating technology in learning process. Yet, challenges occur in integrating technology in speaking activity. The aim of the current study was to seek for students’ perspectives on using online podcast as a speaking activity in online classroom. The study used qualitative approach with the total of 47 English for Specific Purpose students coming from Tourism Management program participated in the study. The data were gathered through questionnaire distribution and interview and analyzed through three stages, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The result showed that most of the students perceived the online podcast as a positive activity for their speaking skill. Majority of the students admitted the use of online podcast in online classroom motivates them to practice their speaking, enhance their creativity, and improve their public speaking skill.

PENGARUH MEDIA LECTORA TERHADAP HASIL BELAJAR PESERTA DIDIK PADA MATERI PERANGKAT LUNAK MPEMBUAT GRAFIS DI SMA NEGERI 1 RAO

This research was conducted because of SMA 1 Rao was already have adequate facilities to support learning process like library and computer room. However, in fact, the facility had not been used maximally in the learning process, especially in learning process of Information Communication and Technology (ICT) lesson. Some teachers also still used speech method and conversional media. In line with the problems, this research aimed to find out the effect of Lectora media as a learning media towards the students’ learning achievement in graphics software material at SMA Negeri 1 Rao. This research used a quantitative approach, and the subject of this research was SMA Negeri 1 Rao, the experimental class was XII.IPA-3 and XII.IPA-4 as control class. In data collection techniques, the researcher used questionnaires and tests. Questionnaires were distributed in the experimental class which used lectora media, and control class with no questionnaire because they did not use lectora media.The result of research showed that the effect of lectora media towards the learning achievement was the magnitude of effect of 5.1%, while the percentage between experiment class and control class were increasement of percentage of 42.5%, thus it was proven that the effect of lectora media to students' learning achievement was better than who did not use the lactor media.

DESAIN PEMBELAJARAN BAHASA ARAB BERBASIS TEKNOLOGI INFORMASI DI ERA NEW NORMAL

<p style="text-align: justify;"><em>In the midst of the pandemic that hit Indonesia, the direction of learning that used to be carried out face to face has now changed to learning that refers to technology and teaching and learning process activities are carried out from home. Thus, the design of Arabic learning has also changed for the continuity of education, information technology (IT) is needed as a solution. No wonder if during the pandemic the Arabic language learning design got a new formulation by paying attention to additional element, namely electronic (digital) media. This research was written using a qualitative method of literature study. Namely by collecting various data relevant to the topic discussed. Then analyzed and drawn conclusions. From this research, we get an overview of the main elements of Arabic learning design, namely in the form of determining goals, materials, strategies or media and evaluating them in the midst of a pandemic (new normal). The result of this research are important for educators to pay attention to when they want to carry out learning during a pandemic. As a material for consideration and guidance for educators in determining the design of Arabic learning. </em></p>

Aplikasi Service Learning Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka: Mendesain Visi Misi Sekolah dengan Canva

Service learning is a method of learning provided to students by combining knowledge obtained formally in the classroom and activities that provide benefits to the community. The purpose of this devotion is to benefit the school through the application of theory that has been obtained by students during the learning process of Computer Technology IV courses by utilizing service learning methods. Lectures are not only sharing knowledge,but also students can directly practice their skills that eventually provide benefits to the school in the form of output, they are the availability of mission-vision billboards with attractive designs and easily accessible to the community, so that schools can get the benefit from the existence of this devotional activity in the form of the availability of mission vision banners with attractive graphic design. The location of the activity is in Pa'Bundunkang State Elementary School and is carried out for 7 days by students by involving lecturers as mentors and teachers as escorts. The method of implementation starts from the stage of preparation, implementation, and strengthening/reflection. The result from this activity is that Pa'Bundukang State Elementary School can renew the appearance of the school's vision-mission as a means to socialize the school's vision-mission to students, school human resources, communities, and stakeholders. In addition, students are able to be more sensitive to social circumstances, and can apply graphic design materials using Canva applications obtained in computer technology iv classes, so that competence of knowledge, skills, and attitudes can be developed.

Networks in Learning Analytics: Where Theory, Methodology, and Practice Intersect

Network analysis has contributed to the emergence of learning analytics. In this editorial, we briefly introduce network science as a field and situate it within learning analytics. Drawing on the Learning Analytics Cycle, we highlight that effective application of network science methods in learning analytics involves critical considerations of learning processes, data, methods and metrics, and interventions, as well as ethics and value systems surrounding these areas. Careful work must meaningfully situate network methods and interventions within the theoretical assumptions explaining learning, as well as within pedagogical and technological factors shaping learning processes. The five empirical papers in the special section demonstrate diverse applications of network analysis, and the invited commentaries from cognitive network science and physics education research further discuss potential synergies between learning analytics and other sister fields with a shared interest in leveraging network science. We conclude by discussing opportunities to strengthen the rigour of network-based learning analytics projects, expand current work into nascent areas, and achieve more impact by holistically addressing the full cycle of learning analytics.

EDUCATIONAL MOTIVATION IN TEACHING AND LEARNING ENGLISH: WAYS AND PROBLEMS OF CREATING

The article analyzes the ways of creating students’ educational and cognitive motivation in the English learning classes. The analysis is held on the basis of modern pedagogical and psychological researches. Introduction of pedagogical technology in learning process provides effective acquisition of knowledge and skills by students and helps in creating positive motivation. Different classifications of motives of different linguists are presented. The motives that ensure successful learning activities are characterized. Emphasis is put on the efficiency of creating foreign language learning motivation of students at schools and higher educational institutions.
