The research aims to analyze the market response to fashion products developed through itajime and ecoprint techniques using natural dyes. The research method used in this study is the R&D method with the PPE (Planning, Production, and Evaluation) model to explore floral mosaic motifs on casual dresses using itajime and ecoprint techniques. This R&D research method details the steps in each stage of fashion product development from initial planning to evaluation. The results of the public test showed a positive response from the age group of 19-26 years, towards the fashion products produced through itajime and ecoprint techniques with natural dyes as indicated by the high level of preference (really like and like) of the respondents. This shows that continuous innovation in production technology makes it possible to produce products that are in demand in the market, and the results of the public testing confirmed strong acceptance among the subjects.

Digital leadership in the digital era of education: enhancing knowledge sharing and emotional intelligence

PurposeEstablishing an effective educational system is directly tied to academic leadership, a multifaceted concept that differs from one environment to another. The purpose of this research is to investigate the role of digital leadership (DL) aspects in the enhancement of technical knowledge sharing (KS) and dealing with emotional intelligence (EI) among the teaching faculty of higher education institutions (HEIs).Design/methodology/approachFollowing a quantitative and cross-sectional research design, convenient sampling is employed for data collection via a self-administered questionnaire from 320 faculty members of private HEIs in Pakistan.FindingsStructural equation model (SEM) is used for path analysis. The results reveal a positive and significant effect of DL, aspects like visionary leadership (VL), digital citizenship (DC), systematic improvement (SI), on knowledge sharing (KS), and emotional intelligence (EI).Practical implicationsThis study has highlighted the significance of DL in private HEIs. The findings of the study imply that institutional heads of higher education institutions (HEIs) can successfully manage the knowledge assets that they have and those of their staff members, ensure the successful adoption of technology and foster product and process innovation that improves organizational performance and integrates successful strategies into the educational system by demonstrating DL aspects. The research also analyzes institutional heads' present leadership strategies to enhance response to technological change and innovations, which are considered fundamental pillars of organizational success. Ultimately, this will extend the literature on adopting DL techniques towards digital transformation in the education system.Originality/valueThis study empirically confirms the role of DL aspects such as VL, DC, and SI towards KS and EI. Most of the research demonstrates the direct impact of DL on EI, whereas the aspects of DL are not directly related to KS and EI. Studies have also shown how DL enhances its role in incorporating leadership in organizations, industries, and education, mainly in Western countries. This research addresses the gap in understanding the direct effects of DL aspects on KS and EI in non-Western countries, particularly within the education sector.

Agroecological innovation to scale livestock agriculture for positive economic, environmental, and social outcomes

Livestock agriculture must change to meet demand for food production while building soil, reducing flooding, retaining nutrients, enhancing biodiversity, and supporting thriving communities. Technological innovations, including those in digital and precision agriculture, are unlikely by themselves to create the magnitude and directionality of transformation of livestock production systems that are needed. We begin by comparing technological, ecological and social innovations in feedlot-finished and pasture-finished cattle production and propose that what is required is a more integrative ‘agroecological innovation’ process that intentionally weaves these three forms of innovation to transition livestock agriculture to be genuinely regenerative and multifunctional. This integrated system emphasizes social innovations as essential components of the innovation system because of their capacity to address and influence the social context into which technological and ecological innovations occur. In particular, regional place-making can be especially useful as an interactive process of designing regional identities as people engage with one another and their environments to define landscape futures and the related social standards that normalize particular land management practices. Intentionally developing innovations can help communities engage in relational place-making processes to define desired outcomes for agricultural landscapes and develop ways to collaborate towards achieving them, including the creation of novel supply chains that support regenerative livestock systems. As social norms evolve through place-making they influence individual behaviors and agricultural practices on the ground and offer a pathway for more rapid scaling of regenerative practices in livestock agriculture. Regional place-making also can influence the ‘meta’ context of agricultural systems by engaging with public and private institutions responsible for management of natural resources, food systems, and the public good, further accelerating the scaling process. Emerging agroecological innovation systems for livestock agriculture must be designed and governed in ways that ensure responsible and diverse outcomes compatible with their social and ecological contexts, and with management approaches and technologies consistent with the values and goals of communities in a region.

Assessing the Sustainability Impact of Improving Secondary Steel Production: Lessons Learned from an Italian Plant

Abstract This work presents a sustainability assessment approach to evaluate technological innovations in secondary steel production making use of Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) technology. The assessment covers the environmental, social, and economic dimensions of sustainability by combining different tools (Life Cycle Assessment and Analytic Hierarchy Process), and also provides an integrated assessment of the overall sustainability. The approach, which can also be used to support decision-making, has been applied to a real case study of a steel plant located in Northern Italy. In the case study, environmental sustainability is positively impacted mainly by increased metal yield and reduced furnace energy consumption. The greatest social sustainability benefits are mainly related to improved ergonomic and safety conditions for workers (reduced demand for physical effort, manual handling and repetitiveness, and lower risk of accidents), as a consequence of the introduction of Industry 4.0 technologies. Regarding economic sustainability, a positive impact related to reduced cycle time, increased metal yield and quality yield, reduced maintenance and quality control costs was observed. The integrated assessment of the overall sustainability has proven to be a viable approach to manage trade-offs between the different dimensions of sustainability.

Targeting in management of sustainable innovative development for industrial enterprises

The problem of reindustrialisation of the country and its transition to the sixth technological mode is of particular relevance for the Russian economy at present. At the same time, for the effective management of reindustrialisation, it is necessary, first of all, to develop a system of target setting for sustainable innovative development of industrial enterprises and production sectors. The aim of the paper is to consider and use a new methodological approach to the formation of such a system of target indicators. It is shown that there is no direct possibility of using for this purpose the theory of endogenous economic growth, the theory of long waves and the concept of technological patterns, the theory of sustainable development of economic systems. The paper presents ways and means of solving three problems arising in the process of effective management of sustainable innovation development of industrial production at the level of industries and enterprises: taking into account the impact on the activation of innovation activity of incoming open “tangible” innovations (patents, licences, software products) and closed innovations in the form of R&D costs; identifying the predominant impact on the resource efficiency of enterprises and industries of certain types of technological innovation-process and product innovations; determining for each type of technological innovation (process and product innovations); determining the impact of the innovation activity of incoming enterprises and industries on the resource efficiency of enterprises and industries.

The Government Policy for the Ukraine’s Pharmaceutical Industry: Economic and Statistical Aspect

Among the priorities for the Ukrainian government during the country’s recovery period after the war should be ensuring national security, establishing an effective healthcare system, creating jobs, achieving stability and economic growth. The development of the pharmaceutical industry plays a crucial role in achieving these goals. The pharmaceutical industry, as revealed by the study, despite increasing production and value added over the years of independence, remains vulnerable and dependent on external resources. The Covid-19 pandemic and the russian military aggression exposed the industry’s unpreparedness for new challenges and threats, casting doubt on the effectiveness of Ukraine’s policy for national pharmaceutical production. The aim of this article is to show initiatives and political decisions made since the early 2000s, as well as economic and statistical assessments of their consequences for the pharmaceutical industry in Ukraine. Study found, that the government’s policy in the process of European integration primarily focused on harmonizing legislative and regulatory frameworks for pharmaceutical activities, rather than on enhancing the domestic manufacturers through a variety of activities: the implementation of a deliberate policy for the technological product and process innovation based on domestic R&D, strengthening competitive advantages for to meet growing domestic needs and increase exports. Lack of policy for increasing the innovative and scientific and technological potential of pharmaceutical industry has led to the growth of imports. It is proven that in 1996, the import of pharmaceutical products per capita in the country was $4,98 and at the end of 2021 (before the start of the war), it was $71.78. The research revealed that Ukrainian pharmaceutical industry, primarily manufactures products for the domestic market and relies largely on imported intermediate goods (as there is no domestic production of fine chemicals, active pharmaceutical ingredients and their intermediates); the industry does not generate foreign currency earnings even to cover the expenses for purchasing necessary ingredients in foreign markets. The article substantiates the necessity of a multi-aspect policy. The formulation of such policies should be based on both the results of statistical analysis from official statistics and surveys of professional associations’ members associated with the pharmaceutical industry (developers and manufacturers of biological and chemical substances, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices, as well as providers of fillers and packaging materials and equipment for pharmaceutical production). This approach will allow for a comprehensive and adequate assessment of the current state and future prospects of the industry.

Human Capital, Business Environment Optimization and Foreign Enterprise Innovation

Under the background that business environment optimization has become a new competitive advantage in cultivating investment and technology introduction, the influence of business environment optimization in developing countries on the innovation willingness of foreign-funded enterprises and the moderating effect of human capital of foreign-funded enterprises are investigated. The results show that: the business environment optimization reduces the willingness of foreign enterprises to carry out technological innovation, process innovation and product innovation, and the average marginal effect increases in turn; The internal mechanism is the reduction of preferential degree of foreign enterprises and the enhancement of competitive power of domestic enterprises brought about by the optimization of business environment. The human capital of foreign-funded enterprises enhances the effect of business environment optimization on their innovation willingness, and this is achieved by enhancing the preferential degree of foreign-funded enterprises, reducing the inhibition of their innovation willingness, and promoting the competitiveness of domestic enterprises by optimizing the business environment. It is further found that the introduction of foreign enterprises has a significant innovation spillover effect, and the absorption capacity of domestic enterprises has a positive regulatory effect.

Digital economy, green technology innovation, and productivity improvement of energy enterprises.

This study aims to address the important question of whether the digital economy can be deeply integrated with the energy sector to break through the resource and environmental constraints and thus enhance the productivity of energy companies. Using a sample of Chinese energy-listed companies, we comprehensively investigate the impact of the digital economy on the productivity of energy firms using the OLS method, mediated effects model, instrumental variables method, and difference-in-differences model. Research shows that the development of digital economy can significantly improve the productivity of energy enterprises. This effect is more obvious in eastern cities, non-resource-based cities, state-owned enterprises, and enterprises with high cash holdings. Green technological innovation in alternative energy production, transportation, and administrative supervision and design is an important channel for improving productivity in the digital economy. Internet development and digital inclusive finance can also improve the productivity of energy enterprises. "National Big Data Pilot Zone" and "Broadband China" pilot cities can play a policy role in improving the productivity of energy enterprises. The findings provide important insights for promoting the integration of the digital revolution with the energy technology revolution and accelerating the green development and digital transformation of the energy sector.

Commercialization Study of Technological Product Innovation Using Business Model Canvas: Innovation Case of Mobile Laboratory

A premise states that the success of product technology innovation determines the economic growth of a country. On the other hand, commercialization of product technology innovations has low success, and one of the reasons is the lack of careful planning. One of the national product technology innovations designed as a solution to controlling the spread of COVID-19 is a mobile laboratory (Mobile Laboratory Bio-Safety Level 2/MBSL-2) which was initiated by BPPT in early 2020. This study discusses the concept of planning the commercialization of product technology innovations. MBSL-2 uses the Business Model Canvas (BMC), with the intention that the results can be used as an innovation planning policy instrument, especially in government research institutions. Nine BMC elements are elaborated, namely customer segments, value propositions, channels, customer relationships, revenue streams, key resources, key activities, key partners, and cost structure. The results of the discussion show how BMC works in a systematic, structured, and measurable way so that it can explain the arguments and objectives for each element of the business process, as well as the harmonization of business strategy with technology strategy. The BMC display is simple but contains important business aspects, making it easier for all parties to understand the business concept of product technology innovation. This study recommends the use of BMC as a complete product technology innovation planning instrument for engineers in government research institutions.

Comparison and Analysis between the Different Social Software

This paper mainly introduces the Differentiation strategy which is one of the three basic strategies. For an enterprise, in order to occupy the leadership advantages from the competitive market, its managers should improve the comprehensive and sustainable development ability of enterprise management, as well as independent innovation and development ability from the perspective of business strategy, and rely on product technological innovation, scientific enterprise management and other comprehensive means, to form a differentiated competitive leadership advantage suitable for their own characteristics. Therefore, the differentiation strategy causes various products in different markets. This paper will compare and analyze the differences between different social Software on a strategy level by using literature analysis. It can be concluded that a differentiation strategy can help enterprises survive or even go beyond old companies in the market by attracting different customers group.

Shedding light on the composition and degradation mechanism of dyes in historical ink's collection (19th-20th century)

Man has always used writing to be able to communicate, express, and disseminate his thoughts. In time, many different coloured extracts of plant and animal origin have been used to produce inks; after the development of synthetic chemistry, artificial and synthetic dyes started to be widely exploited. The end of the 19th century marked great technological and industrial innovations in commercial production of artists' materials. To reveal ink formulations and build a database of red inks by different producers, we developed a multi-analytical approach and investigated a collection of writing inks produced in France in the late 19th – early 20th century. The materials used as binders, additives, dyes, and pigments have been investigated by high performance liquid chromatography coupled with diode array and tandem mass spectrometric detectors (HPLC-DAD-MS2), in situ derivatisation pyrolysis coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (Py(HMDS)-GC/MS), surface enhanced Raman (SERS, TLC-SERS) and X-Ray Fluorescence spectroscopies. Several dyes and pigments were detected, showing that the French ink's formulations of the early days of synthetic dye industry were based on rhodamine B and 6G, eosin Y, rose Bengal and methyl or crystal violet. Instead, as binder and additives only gum Arabic and shellac resin have been identified, respectively. Mass spectrometry also allowed us to detect possible by-products of the synthesis of ink's dyes and even early degradation products, that can be used for ink identification in historical writings and drawings. Our studies can pave the way to investigate inks in historical samples by introducing ultra-sensitive chromatographic and mass spectrometric methods in the array of analytical tools available to the chemist.

Research on the Impact of Digital Economy on Residents' Consumption Upgrading

The deep integration of digital technology and the real economy has injected new power into the consumer market, and the role of digital economy in promoting residents' consumption upgrading is especially obvious in the post epidemic era. Panel data from 2014-2020 of 30 provinces in China except Tibet are selected to examine the driving role of digital economy on residents' consumption upgrading based on the perspective of technological innovation intermediary. The results of the study show that: from the overall level, the digital economy significantly promotes the upgrading of residents' consumption, but there is obvious regional heterogeneity; from the perspective of the mediation effect, the digital economy promotes the optimization of the residents' consumption structure through the channel of technological innovation; however, the technological innovation path of the digital economy to promote the level of residents' consumption is not significant, due to the impact of the two types of technological innovation, namely, product innovation and technological innovation, which are offsetting the impact of the two types of technological innovation on the level of residents' consumption. significant. Therefore, we should accelerate the breakthrough of digital technology innovation, fill the gap of digital economy development between regions, promote the coordinated development of East, Middle East and West China, and promote the upgrading of residents' consumption.

Upgrading new product development performance in digital context: a configuration analysis based on fsQCA

ABSTRACT New product development (NPD) is necessary for enterprises’ growth and the maintenance of competitive advantage. Although previous studies have explored the multiple antecedents of NPD performance, most of them consider the effect of antecedents in isolation, neglecting their interdependence. Drawing on complexity theory, the study presents a configuration model that combines six antecedents based on the Technology-Organization-Environment (TOE) framework. The results of fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) show that digital technology application, product innovation, functional coordination, user participation, peer competition and environmental turbulence need to combine with each other in order to produce high NPD performance. The combination of product innovation, functional coordination and user participation plays an important role in NPD. The complementary effects of digital technology application, product innovation, functional coordination and user participation on NPD performance are demonstrated.

Innovation Integration: Fuyao’s Secret of Success

An innovation integration model is proposed to explain the reason for Fuyao Glass Manufacturing Group’s success in its market competition. Fuyao’s vertical innovation integrations help the firm to solve the problems of both top-down and bottom-up approaches: Fuyao’s horizontal innovation helps the firm to place process innovation at its core, meanwhile list the technological innovation, product innovation and service innovation as objectives as well as the outcome. Fuyao’s integrated innovation model helped the firm to achieve its high efficiency in its manufacturing and market success and avoid failure of the products in its business environment. The coherent relationships between innovation and market demands are the drivers of a firm’s success. This study contributes to the innovation of literature in two ways. First, both top-down and bottom-up approaches have weaknesses. Innovation integration is the only way an innovative firm can use to avoid the weaknesses of top-down or bottom-up approaches while utilizing the advantages of the two processes. Second, different types of innovation do not stand along, instead, they may be able to complement each other.

Between illusion and reality in the post-pandemic experience: Theatricalities of Esu and the Vagabond Minstrels on stage

This paper draws a critical analysis of the performance of Esu and the Vagabond Minstrels in post-pandemic experience. This is a play written by Femi Osofisan and directed by Adeyemi Oresanya, performed on the stage of the Pit-Theatre. It actually brings reflections of the undying past effects of corruption, oppression and social dysfunction from the military era to the new democratic dispensation in Nigeria to define compassion in order to revitalize humanity in post-pandemic. I argue that the fusion of illusionary reality of theatre in the nature of performance intertextuality is to evince the nature of man and how the myth of Esu implants the kernel of compassion in characters through dialogue—using songs and dances for aesthetic realization and sustainability. Besides, it examines indices of creative visions in the melting pot and departures between the playwright and the director in the nature of performance intertextuality. This researched paper is recommended for both students, teachers and practitioners of Performing/Theatre Arts to find importance of technological innovation in theatrical production as engendered in the COVID-19 experience.

Impact of digitalization on technological innovations in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)

This study explores the impact of digitalization on technological (product and process) innovations in German small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). In particular, three forms of digitalization are considered – digitalization in production and logistics, digital value chains, and big data analytics. Empirical analysis utilizes the Mannheim Innovation Panel (MIP) dataset of German SMEs operating in manufacturing and service sectors. A binary probit model is separately estimated for micro, small and medium-sized firms to test if theoretically assumed positive innovation effects of digitalization occur in SMEs of different size. Empirical findings confirm that the impact of digitalization on innovation activities is heterogenous among SMEs. Furthermore, the innovation effects are modest and depend on the form of digitalization and a type of innovation. The study also explores a moderating effect of internal R&D activities. The findings suggest that the engagement in internal R&D weakness the innovation effects of digitalization. More specifically, the impact of digitalization on product and process innovations is absent in those SMEs that conduct intramural R&D, while in non-R&D SMEs, this impact is positive. Based on these findings, the study offers some theoretical and policy implications.

Do Technological Innovation and Export Matter in Product Innovation of Small and Medium Enterprises in Vietnam?

This paper studies the effects of technological innovation and export on product innovation at small and medium Vietnamese enterprises (SMEs). The study uses cross-sectional data from 2,647 enterprises from 10 selected provinces in Vietnam. This study employs Logit regression to examine the relationship between technological innovation, export, and product innovation. This study finds that technological innovation and exports have a positive impact on product innovation. The findings of this study offer some policy discussions and the development of strategies to enhance product innovation among small and medium enterprises.
