PUBLIC POLICIES OF THE STATE OF SANTA CATARINA FOR REGULATING THE PEDAGOGICAL TECHNICAL ASSISTANT

This text aims to analyze the public policies of the state of Santa Catarina that regulate the duties of the Technical Pedagogical Assistant - ATP, a professional position assigned to educational institutions and various agencies responsible for education at the state level, in order to identify the conception and expected contribution of this professional position to the quality of education. The research highlighted theoretical aspects of the conception of public policies, including the identification of the main policies in the Constitution, in the Law of Guidelines and Bases of Education - LDB and State Law No. 1,139/1992. This is a bibliographical research that was based on the classical theoretical aspect and on legislation, enabling the conclusions that are in the sense that the creation of a technical position of pedagogical assistant with clear and objective duties makes the organizational structure of education solid, strengthened and that streamlines the pedagogical process by ensuring technical and management support in the educational routine for efficiency in educational practice, enabling the overcoming of the challenges of contemporary education.

On Several Issues Concerning the Moderate Codification of Education Law in China

The compilation of the education code is a key task for many countries to promote the revitalization of education, and it is also an inevitable trend of education development. Determining the path, choosing the compilation model, designing the structural framework, and technical positioning are the key issues in realizing the compilation of the education code. In terms of the path, it is recommended to adopt the "two-step" approach of drafting the general provisions first and then compiling the specific provisions. In terms of the selection of the compilation model, it is recommended to adopt the idea of "moderate compilation" to balance the characteristics of my country's existing legal system in the field of education. Under the framework of "general provisions + specific provisions", the general provisions should be structurally arranged around the right to education, and the specific provisions should be logically arranged according to the type of education. In terms of structural framework and reconstruction, a system that meets the unique system logic requirements should be considered to achieve the scientific nature of the education code. The "common element extraction method" should be selectively used to summarize and generalize legal norms.

조선후기 오위 군함체아직의 구성과 告身에 기재된 ‘仍資’의 의미

The Che-a-jik(遞兒職) was a method of government office management applied throughout the entire Joseon Dynasty and a green salary payment system. By the late Joseon Dynasty, most of the titles belonging to Five-Wies(五衛) were still borrowed as Che-a-jik. This is stated in the Five-Wies (五衛) of Byeongjeon(兵典) of Sokdaejeon (續大典). In the late Joseon Dynasty, it was operated in the Che-a-jik(遞兒職) of giving letters of appointment and rust salary to civil servants, military officers, and those who had jobs in technical positions using the military titles of the Five-Wies(五衛). And the government also used it to treat civil servants who were temporarily out of service(San-Guan:散 官). ‘Ing-Ja(仍資)’ is a term that appears in the so-called ‘small letters on the side(So-Ja-Bang-Seo:小字 傍書)’, which is written in small letters on the left or right of the date of issuance of ‘letter of appointment to the government(Go-Sin:告身)’, a document on the appointment of government positions in the Joseon Dynasty. The Go-Sin with this ‘Ing-Ja(仍資)’ marked is commonly written about the award of warships belonging to Five-Wies. And the notation follows the form of “’function’(the actual performance of a government awardee)+’Ing-Ja’” that is actually carried out by the awarded official. The term ‘Ing-Ja’ in this small room appears only in a specific range among the Go-Sin of Five-Wie’s warship award. Analyzing the current Go-Sin, it can be seen that the god marked with “Ing-Ja” appears only when a warship that is not operated under the Won-rok-Che-a-jik(原祿遞兒職), that is, when a non-Won-rok-Che-a-jik(非原祿遞兒職) is awarded. On the other hand, all the Go-Sin, which was awarded to the Five-Wie’s warship, which had no special small room or contained a small room other than “Ing-J”, were military titles that were operated as Won-rok-Che-a-jik. In addition, it is often confirmed that those who have been awarded this Go-Sin often have a rust plaque that proves that they have actually received a rust salary. Therefore, it is not reasonable to say that the interpretation of “‘function’+‘Ing-Ja’” indicated in Go-Sin's so-called “self-sufficiency as before” is not valid. In conclusion, since ‘Ing-Ja’ is an institutional term directly related to the award of Che-a-jik still in the Joseon Dynasty, it is reasonable to interpret it in a way that exposes the term as it is, such as “Ing-Ja to a something function” or “Ing-Ja to a warship position due to a something function.”

Leadership Competencies of Pharmacists in the Manufacturing Sector of the Pharmaceutical Industry

Pharmacists are the main professionals in the pharmaceutical industry as they take responsibility for the medicines that are produced and managed within the industry. Manufacturing pharmaceutical companies (MPCs) make use of the skills of pharmacists for technical functions as most countries require the presence of pharmacists for regulatory compliance purposes. The roles that pharmacists can play in a manufacturing pharmaceutical company extend beyond the technical levels. The purpose of this study was to determine the leadership competencies of pharmacists in the manufacturing sector of the pharmaceutical industry in South Africa. A Leadership Competency Self-assessment Tool (LCSAT) with five (5) domains was used to determine the competencies relating to the functions of a pharmacist in a manufacturing pharmaceutical company. The domains included professionalism, pharmacy and healthcare environment, leadership, business skills, communication and relationships. The Leadership Competency Self-assessment Tool was administered to pharmacists who are members of a professional association for pharmacists who work in the pharmaceutical industry of South Africa. The association had 567 members who received the online questionnaire over two cycles. Responses were received from 84 pharmacists (15%) with only 62 (10.9%) responses that were complete and therefore formed the sample for the study. The pharmacists rated themselves as highly competent in the domain of pharmacy and healthcare environment (77,76%) and the lowest in the domain for business skills (64,83%). The role of pharmacists in a manufacturing pharmaceutical company is diverse and should not be limited to the technical functions, for the benefit of their patients. Pharmacists should be responsible for roles beyond the operational aspects of the companies in the pharmaceutical industry. They should be actively involved in roles such as promoting the pharmaceuticals their companies produce and strategic functions. To succeed, pharmacists must develop business competencies that will enable them to have business confidence and facilitate visibility while, engaging more corporate roles to boost revenue for their companies. Many pharmacists hold technical positions that see them overseeing manufacturing functions and responsible for manufacturing tasks. Effective communication and business skills to enable them to thrive in roles of strategic leadership are essential. A diversity of competencies for the pharmaceutical industry will increase the value of pharmacists in the pharmaceutical industry.

Risks of occupational mental disorders in Korean civil servants (2009-18).

Previous studies have suggested that firefighters, police officers and civil servants in the education sector, particularly in Western countries, are vulnerable to mental stress and disorders; however, evidence for this association in South Korea is lacking. This study aimed to identify whether firefighters, police officers and teachers are at a higher risk for occupational mental health disorders. We used workers' compensation claims from civil servants (2009-18). Our target population comprised 46 209 civil servants (9009 civil servants in administrative and technical positions, 23 107 police officers, 4417 firefighters and 8676 civil servants in the educational sector). Occupational and environmental medicine physicians and medical doctors defined and confirmed mental disorders. We conducted Cox proportional hazards regression analyses to evaluate civil servants' risk of occupational mental health disorders. Compared with the civil servants in administrative and technical positions, civil servants in the education sector (hazard ratio [HR] = 2.16; 95% confidence interval [CI]:1.65-2.84) showed a statistically significant increased risk of mental disorders; conversely, firefighters did not (HR = 0.80; 95% CI 0.51-1.27). Police officers had a significantly decreased mental disorder risk compared with civil servants in administrative and technical positions (HR = 0.17; 95% CI 0.11-0.25). The risk of occupational mental health disorders was higher in civil servants in the education sector but lower in police officers and firefighters than civil servants in administrative and technical positions. Further studies on civil servants' mental health awareness are required to confirm our results.

Five Finger Model: an empathic alternative to the elevator speech

PurposeLibrarians need to effectively communicate the need for space, resources and personnel, even in service or technical positions, yet librarians often lack formal leadership or strategy training on how to be most effective in advocating for the library. This paper presents the Five Finger Model as a communication strategy for training librarians on advocacy.Design/methodology/approachIn order to show how the Five Finger Model can be helpful, we have included two case examples from our own work contexts, which are in academic libraries. We also present guidance on how to train library staff on the model.FindingsIn one example, the model was used for advocating for the library as part of the campus-level strategic planning process. In another example, the model was used to effectively market research consultations. These examples highlight how the Five Finger Model can help the communicator stay on topic and use personal stories to have a strong advocacy effect.Originality/valueThis paper is unique in that it shows how staff training on advocacy can be impactful and useful. We believe that putting tools like the Five Finger Model into the hands of staff not only improves their effectiveness but also empowers them to see their role as true advocates for the library.

Using a Biomechanical Analysis Approach to the Accuracy of Shooting Throws in Petanque Sport: Literature Review

Study Purpose. The purpose of this study was to determine how biomechanical analysis can be used in petanque shooting techniques. Materials and methods. This review study followed the PRISMA standards for systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Studies had to be published within the previous five years, from January 2019 to July 2023. (1) shooting petanque; (2) biomechanical analysis were the keywords used in the search process. Scopus and the Science and Technology Index (SINTA) were used for study. Results. This review consists of nine studies. In five research articles, motion analysis was considered, which resulted in a discussion of the direction and angle of petanque throw biomechanics. Four research articles deal with the analysis of petanque shooting accuracy, leading to a discussion of angle, direction, arc, and focus. Conclusions. Biomechanical analysis helps to understand intensity, speed, and posture for better bidding, improved performance, and reduced risk of injury, while increasing speed and efficiency, preventing muscle imbalances, and achieving better technical positions in shooting petanque sports.

Employee engagement among women in technical positions in the South Africa mining industry

The aims of this study were to investigate the factors that influence women's engagement in technical positions in the South African mining sector and to determine what could be done to promote their successful participation. A convergent parallel mixed-methods research design was used to ascertain the factors that facilitate, inhibit, and influence engagement. In the quantitative phase of the study, questionnaires were circulated to women employeees; and in the qualitative phase, semi-structured interviews were conducted with employer representatives, most of whom were human resource personnel. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the three-factor structure (vigour, dedication, and absorption) of the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale fit the sample data reasonably well. Although there is room for improvement, respondents demonstrated acceptable levels of engagement in their work. On the other hand, the qualitative findings showed that employee engagement is impacted by unfavourable working conditions, work-life balance, and the mining industry's male-dominated work culture. The findings showed that employee engagement should be elevated to a core human resource function. To increase the participation of women in mining, human resource professionals are encouraged to collaborate with mine supervisors, managers, and employees to develop programmes that promote employees' absorption in and dedication to their work.

Investigation on reproductive health status of women workers in different positions in oilfield enterprises

Objective: The status and influencing factors of reproductive health (including menstrual period and gynecological diseases) of female workers in different positions of oilfield enterprises were analyzed. Methods: From January to December 2020, a total of 979 female workers in an oil field were selected as research objects by the judgment sampling method, and the "Female Reproductive Health Survey" was used as the investigation tool to investigate the demographic characteristics, menstrual status and gynecological diseases. The influential factors were analyzed by 2-test and logistic regression analysis. Results: The prevalence of abnormal menstruation was 26.1% (256/979), dysmenorrhea 53.1% (520/979), and gynecological diseases 54.34% (532/979). The prevalence of breast disease was 23.39% (229/979), uterine disease 11.03% (108/979), cervical disease 10.32% (101/979), and HPV infection 7.97% (78/979). Age, the nature of the job and whether occupational harmful factors were clear were the influencing factors of gynecological diseases (P=0.001, 0.000, 0.007). Age, job nature, working hours and work intensity were the influencing factors of abnormal menstruation (P=0.005, 0.000, 0.000, 0.010) . Conclusion: The reproductive health status of female workers in different positions of oil field enterprises is not optimistic, and the reproductive health status of female workers in professional and technical positions needs to be improved.

An Applicable Way for Fresh Undergraduate Graduates to Fight the Employment Dilemma: Examining the Job Predicament Encountered by Students Majoring in Humanities in China

The evolution of the market system in China has had a significant impact on the career prospects of graduates, leading to a shift in the composition of the talent pool. To comprehensively elucidate and evaluate the predicament encountered by graduates in the labor market, it is essential for researchers to consider educational background as the fundamental basis for conducting such investigations. The Chinese population has been subject to the impact of many social ideals disseminated via numerous means, such as social media, parental guidance, and interactions with their immediate family members. The presence of certain social ideals and societal issues further intensifies the challenges experienced by a particular subset of individuals, namely humanities graduates. This study centers on the predicament faced by students majoring in the humanities and the educational department. It has been observed that students pursuing humanities disciplines have had challenges in securing employment opportunities. In response, institutions have implemented multidisciplinary approaches to address these issues. However, the outcomes of these efforts have not yielded the anticipated level of effectiveness. When humanities students engage in the process of job application, they often confront challenges such as comparatively lower remuneration, extended work hours, and a heavier workload in comparison to their counterparts. This paper highlights several challenges, including the increasing prevalence of science and engineering fields, the downsizing of technical positions in major corporations, and the emergence of new opportunities in the humanities. It emphasizes the importance for society, parents, and prospective college students to make informed decisions when selecting their desired academic disciplines.

Ensuring the thermal regime of spacecraft structures

The main requirement for the smooth operation of the spacecraft is its stable thermal regime. A particularly difficult task is to ensure a stable temperature control system of the device, taking into account strict restrictions on energy and mass costs for temperature control devices. These tasks need to be solved at every stage of the creation of satellites. At each stage, thermal calculations are carried out with the choice of optimal thermophysical parameters. This amount of work is about a tenth of all work with the satellite. The need for theoretical and experimental refinement of calculation methods is an urgent task that will significantly reduce the material and time costs of designing, testing and fine-tuning the device. Therefore, the calculation and analysis of the thermal regimes of spacecraft is an important stage in the design of satellites. Ground thermal vacuum tests are very costly, both in time and financially. The essence of the concept is to conduct only stationary thermal modes under conditions of maximum and minimum thermal loads on the satellite as a whole and its individual external elements, followed by ensuring convergence of test results with calculated results. Knowledge Infrastructures Require Scaffolding

Watch VIDEO. Knowledge infrastructures are multi-faceted, ever-shifting networks of people and information. They span departments, address varying needs and, ideally, provide stability despite personnel turnover and other changes. Information is made explicit and available via organizational charts, procedural manuals and regular meetings, ensuring members of an institution are kept up-to-date with necessary information. Moving below and between these formal channels, however, is the informal network, a web of unquantifiable, personal relationships, which are nevertheless vital to the functioning of the system. Developing and maintaining a system that works for the current and future needs of diverse groups—e.g., a publication repository used by administrative and research staff—involves tapping into the existing knowledge infrastructure at multiple points, in both the formal departments and the spaces between them. In addition to the stakeholder meetings and the lists of user requirements, we have the informal conversations where we can learn the tacit information, for example, how research groups are defined by different parties and whether software versions are considered separate publications. It takes time to learn the right questions and to learn who might hold the answers or, if there is no pre-existing solution, with whom you can work to establish one. In this session, we will use the example of a publication repository to discuss the role of personal relationships throughout a project lifecycle, from conception through rollout and ongoing updates. I invite you to consider how to support the development of the informal network, how to identify tacit knowledge and information gaps, and how to take personality and communication skills into account when hiring for technical positions.

Factors affecting the attraction of women to technical mining positions in South Africa

Orientation: Since the advent of democracy, various laws and policies have been enacted to redress past inequalities concerning women’s inclusion in mining.Research purpose: The study aimed to investigate factors influencing women’s attraction to technical positions in the South African mining industry and to also uncover what could be done to encourage their successful participation in the industry.Motivation for the study: Despite the availability of opportunities in the mining industry, women’s occupancy of technical positions is moving at a snail’s pace.Research approach/design and method: The research was conducted using a convergent parallel mixed-methods research design, with a sample consisting of women in technical mining positions and employer representatives.Main findings: The exploratory factor analysis identified four factors as important for attracting women to technical mining positions. These were application and development value, interest value, economic value and social value. The qualitative findings revealed that the following barriers affect the inclusion of women in mining: the lack of career awareness of mining-related qualifications; the notion that mining jobs are physically demanding for women; work-life balance issues and a workplace culture in mining that is perceived as unwelcoming to women.Practical/managerial implications: This research is significant in that it provides employers and human resource managers with information about factors affecting the attraction of women to technical positions in South Africa’s mining industry and globally.Contribution/value-add: This study contributes to the body of knowledge on women in mining, generally, and the factors attracting women to technical mining positions, specifically.

The Gig city: Tech-based revitalization and contingent labor across classes in Chattanooga, TN

In Chattanooga, TN, the construction of a fiber optic telecommunications network has led to a tech-based revitalization strategy, and the promotion of entrepreneurial and technical positions within the Downtown. Rather than being a solution for a better labor future, this paper demonstrates how revitalization has served to perpetuate contingent hiring practice across classes and sectors and create contingency in new ones. In focusing on the types of work valorized in public discourse (an educated yet contingent tech sector) and those that remain devalorized (the many ancillary sectors which support tech-based growth) this paper argues for the need for a policy agenda which takes varied labor forms and livelihood strategies into account. The experience of contingency is examined across classes to demonstrate how revitalization discourses and historical discourses perpetuate social disparities despite the connectedness of workers via workforce restructuring.

The Glass Ceiling in Hollywood Movies: Exploring the Gender Disparities in Portrayals of Public Relations Roles

This study examines the gender disparities in the portrayal of women in Hollywood films having the theme of Public Relations. The research aims to analyze the representation of women in PR roles especially the technical positions, their roles and responsibilities in the campaigns, and their depiction as being family-oriented or not. The study design utilizes a descriptive methodology and employs a semantic analysis using the purposive sampling technique. The sample includes the movie "Don't Look Up (2021)," chosen as it is the top IMDb ranking Hollywood film with a focus on the PR campaign. Data is collected on technical roles, primary or secondary positions, and family orientation of the female characters. The findings reveal significant gender disparities, with women often limited to secondary roles and unequal representation compared to men in the PR roles having less family orientation. The study emphasizes the need to challenge gender stereotypes in the film industry.

Exploring the technological position and role of vehicle navigation companies by using patent citation network

Autonomous driving is the future trend when it comes to the age of 5G at the end of 21st century, and vehicle navigation is the indispensable key technology. The companies with car navigation software and hardware business are facing fierce competition. Business operators must know the company's position and role in the industry, in order to adopt strategies to respond. In this study, two indicators are investigated using the social network analysis technics such as technological redundancy and network centrality in patent citation network (PCN). It is understood that technological redundancy is determined by technology knowledge status (TKS) as well as technology knowledge reliability (TKR). There are also four types of social network centrality: degree centrality, eigenvector centrality, closeness centrality, and betweenness centrality. In this study, an analysis of the technical position and role of individual companies in the industry will be presented by using the two indicators and the primary components. Moreover, technological redundancy is used to study the technical position and role of a company's unitary patent capability in the industry. This will reinforce the company's understanding, and then take strategies. By using this model, the study can effectively identify the technical position and role of the company and its unitary patent capability. Furthermore, the study also shows that based on this model, there is a total of three companies where positions and roles are as leading status in the vehicle navigation industry, i.e. Tomtom map company, Alpine and Asin AW two electronic companies. In addition, companies with unique technologies, such as Sirius Xm Radio, etc. can use their role and position to conduct merger and acquisition, collaboration, and alliance strategies.

Intersections on the road to skills' transferability: The role of international training, gender, and visible minority status in shaping immigrant engineers' career attainment in Canada.

This paper focuses on the engineering profession in Canada, a regulated field with a large proportion of internationally trained professionals. Using Canadian census data, this study addresses two main questions. First, I ask whether immigrant engineers who were trained abroad are at increased disadvantage in gaining access (1) to employment in general, (2) to the engineering field, and (3) to professional and managerial employment within the field. Second, I ask how immigration status and the origin of training intersect with gender and visible minority status to shape immigrant engineers' occupational outcomes. The results reveal that immigrant engineers who were trained abroad are at increased risk of occupational mismatch and this risk is two-fold and intersectional. First, they are at a disadvantage to enter the engineering field. Second, those employed in the engineering field are more likely to occupy technical positions. These forms of disadvantage intensify and diversify for women and racial/ethnic minority immigrants. The paper concludes with a discussion of immigrants' skills transferability in regulated fields from an intersectional perspective.

Review: Women in plant disease management

Women first began to take a stance in science over 50 years ago, and since then, they have produced a great number of publications. However, the first step towards science was a matter of accrediting women as rightful members of the scientific community. During the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, women started to enter into graduate programmes, and such a step helped them to make a difference. In many cases and many countries, botanists and mycologists were, in some way, pioneering in the plant pathology discipline. This manuscript considers some of the women who led the way in plant pathology, with a special focus on those who also dealt with the early aspects of plant disease management. Women who were active in different geographical areas are featured, and an attempt has also been made to provide some less well-known stories. Moreover, the importance of women behind the scenes, as is the case for many lab and field technicians, whose lives have not been chronicled, is acknowledged. Finally, some suggestions are given on how to improve the present situation and increase the number of women in science as well as in technical positions, with special emphasis on the positive effect of female mentors and role models.

TATO Model : A concept for a better assessment at the Competency Certification Institute

The educational institution, both formal and informal, is aimed at highly competent graduates. One of the tools for quality improvement is the creation of an assessment model. This research identifies and analyses the model of assessment carried out by the certification bodies, namely the TATO model. The research used bibliography and qualitative research models in which qualitative data was obtained through group discussion forums within the competence certification body and the course and training directorate, while the documents were obtained and analysed under the rubric of each competence certification body. The result shows that the TATO model could provide more comprehensive skills for participants in the field of skills. The model could also provide a better understanding for the assessors of the score participants during the test. The result of the model-based competency test would be openness, fairness, measurable and objective. This result could be a great assessment model to maintain the quality of the company and would give confidence to businesses and industries that use staff graduated from training and training institutions. The model would enhance the use of non-formal graduates to meet their human resources needs for technical positions
