How Can Dual Education in Technical and Vocational Institutions Improve Students’ Academic Achievements and Mitigate Youth Unemployment in Kazakhstan

ABSTRACT This study aims to describe the role of dual education in improving students’ academic achievement and mitigating youth unemployment in Kazakhstan. To examine this issue, a survey was conducted among 496 students from technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions. The survey results were analyzed using SPSS program to address four hypotheses. Our survey showed that dual education students are more confident in their demands in the labor market, are more satisfied with the results of their studies, and have higher academic achievement than school-based education students.

Attitude and Perceptions of Students Towards Entrepreneurship in Jammu and Kashmir

Abstract— Entrepreneurship development is central to socioeconomic growth in both developed and developing countries. In the case of India, it is a stated national policy to promote startups and kindle the entrepreneurial spirit among the youth. Else, there is a risk of the demographic dividend becoming a liability. Several states in India have made remarkable progress in this domain resulting in an established ecosystem for entrepreneurship development and support. Jammu and Kashmir, the northernmost region in the nation, also needs to emulate such successful models while leveraging government policies designed to support entrepreneurship. This exploratory study therefore examines the attitudes and perception of students in higher technical education towards entrepreneurship and choosing it as a career option. We conclude that government agencies, technical institutions, universities, schools, industry, and professional bodies need to come together with a viable action plan based around awareness, customized programs, deep engagement, handholding, mentoring and support for young students to see real outcomes on the ground. Effectiveness of Technical Training Program of the Bangladesh Government Towards Employability in the Job Market

Technical training programs are one of the crucial components to enhance the employability in Bangladesh job market by integrating in-hand experience to ameliorate qualified manpower. The major objective of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of government technical training programs and their impact on employability in the job market. The study was designed following a mixed method approach where 240 participants responded to the survey questionnaire based on purposive sampling along with a semi-structured interview of 10 participants and 2 KII from different Skills for Employment Investment Program (SEIP) training programs. The study revealed that the technical training programs in Bangladesh have sluggish growth in integrating the skilled labor force in the market. Based on the results of the chi-square test (p <0.05), the study found association between the participants’ gender and their capacity to obtain employment after completing the technical training program.Based on correlation (p <0.05), there is a significant difference between educational qualification and level of satisfaction. Ordinal logistic regression indicates that, the odds (.004) of engagement in technical training course are 99.6% less when participants have a very low level of satisfaction. The study found that this program helps to create employment opportunities.Participants pointed out major obstacles including lack of workshop and lab facilities (84%), inadequate market orientation (71%), inadequate qualified trainers (72.5%), and poor monitoring mechanism (67%) regarding the efficacy of the programs. The findings serve as an important roadmap for the general public, technical institutions, NGOs, government authorities, local administrators and policymakers to enhance the supply of skilled manpower in the national economy.

EXPERT ASSESSMENT OF COMPETENCES AND LEARNING RESULTS FOR MASTER’S ACCORDING TO HIGHER EDUCATION STANDARD IN INFORMATION AND MEASUREMENT TECHNOLOGIES

The purpose of this work is to analyze the learning processes at the second (master’s) level of higher education for the training of specialists in industrial engineering. To achieve the goal, an analysis was carried out and the importance of applied competencies and learning outcomes in the standard of higher education for obtaining the master’s degree in the specialty “Information and measurement technologies” was evaluated. The conducted research is based on expert assessments of scientists of the National Metrological Center of Ukraine and a higher technical education institution in one of the European countries. An algorithm for group expert assessment of the importance of competencies and learning outcomes has been proposed and substantiated, and their priority has been established. The most important competencies and learning outcomes that can significantly influence the quality of education in the specialty “Information and measurement technologies” have been determined. The identified competencies and learning outcomes with the least impact require attention, as this may indicate their formal nature. Taking into account the current trends in the development of the industry, provisions of current legislation, regulatory documents, established terminology in the field of metrology, and information and measurement technologies, experts proposed changes to the description of some competencies and learning outcomes. The results of the conducted research should be taken into account during the next revision of the standard of higher education for the preparation of masters in the specialty “Information and measurement technologies”. At the same time, special attention should be paid to those competencies and learning outcomes that, according to experts, have the least impact. Research findings can also be useful for universities in identifying procedures and areas for improvement that will allow for better alignment of curricula, competency acquisition, and learning outcomes.

Teaching and Research – How the Duo are not Mutually Exclusive

Teaching and research in academia have long been viewed as two different fields with a fuzzy, if not crisp, boundary. Nonetheless, the past few years have witnessed encouraging acceptance of their nature of complementing each other, rather than mutually exclusive endeavors. This paper highlights the dynamic relationship between these two essential pillars of higher education and presents some case studies to support the hypothesis. It also discusses how students stand to gain from the integration of Research-informed teaching pedagogy and effective usage of modern simulation, modeling, and analytical computer-aided design tools. The paper also underscores the need for higher technical educational institutes to develop a sustainable ecosystem where educators find these roles supporting each other and seamlessly transition between the two. The various takeaways of the case studies presented here assuredly suggest the potential benefits of research-enabled pedagogical practices in enriching students learning and improving retention capabilities. Rwanda Towards the Implementation of Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. the Current Status of ODS, Ods Alternatives, and HFCS Alternatives.

In August 2003, Rwanda ratified both the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer, along with all the subsequent amendments, including the Kigali Amendment, which was most recently ratified in May 2017. Within this context, by the Law n°63/2013 of 27/08/2013, Rwanda Environment Management Authority (REMA) was created with the legal mandate for national environmental protection, conservation, promotion and overall management, including advisory to the government on all matters pertinent to the environment and climate change. According to Decision XIX/6 of the 19th Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol on accelerated phase-out of HCFCs, Rwanda is committed to phase-out use of HCFCs by 2030 except for 2.5% for servicing essential use appliances up to 2040. The Hydro chloro fluorocarbons Phase-out Management Plan (HPMP) Stage-I for Rwanda was approved at the 64th Meeting of the Executive Committee for the period 2011 to 2020 to meet a 35% reduction of HCFC by 2020. The HPMP Stage-II has been approved by the 86th meeting of the Executive Committee of the Multilateral Fund Secretariat, to be implemented by UNEP, UNIDO and REMA to enable Rwanda achieve phase-out targets on consumption of Annex C Group 1 Substances of the Montreal Protocol by 2030. The HPMP Stage-II has prioritized key activities to be implemented which include: establishment and implementation of a robust certification scheme for refrigeration technicians, development and implementation of national technical standards in the Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning (RAC) sector that will promote safe use of natural refrigerants and further promote use of highly energy efficiency technologies, capacity building of refrigeration technicians on handling natural refrigerants, training of customs and other enforcement officers on controlling and monitoring HCFC trade and strengthening the Refrigeration Association of Rwanda, technical training institutes and the consumers.The implementation of HPMP Stage-II activities will enable RWANDA reduce consumption of HCFC-22 from the baseline of 4.1 ODP tonnes to 80 percent by 2025 and 100 percent by 2030.This paper represents the results of the national survey conducted to inform the preparation of the project proposal for Kigali HFC Implamentation plan as well as the strategic KIP/HFC phase-down plan.

Delving into the Learning Styles of a Technical Higher Education Institution in the Bicol, Region, Philippines

Learning styles is relevant in the educational set up to provide insights as to the proper and appropriate teaching strategies and assessment tasks to be given to the students in ensuring optimum learning experience. Relative to this, the study assessed the learning styles of the 260 industrial technology and technical-vocational teacher education students in a rural higher education institution (HEI_ in the Philippines using the Learning Styles Model of Honey and Mumford (1968) after the COVID-19 pandemic using a descriptive evaluative research design. The results shows that a strong preference on activist learning was noted among the respondents followed by theorists. The data also reflects that upon review of the data by sex, by program currently enrolled in, and by year level, the learning styles are consistent with the general response of the total sample. Likewise, in terms of challenges experienced by the students in their pursuit of higher learning in a technical school, it was noted that the cost of internet/mobile data as well as the sufficiency of the materials, tools and equipment are prevalent. Thus, it was recommended that the faculty of the said HEI may consider recalibrating learning plans reflected in the course syllabus and align it with the results of the study which further implies additional learning activities that will allow students to do hands-on, and also to enhance the shop facilities of the said HEI in compliance to existing statutory and regulatory requirements of relevant governing agencies to ensure optimum learning experience among the clienteles.

Design of slender supersonic missiles requires a comprehensive experimental support in the form of wind tunnel data for a wide range of flight parameters (angle of attack and Mach number). However, in supersonic wind tunnel testing, the problem exists of transient loads at the times of the starting and stopping of the supersonic flow. In the environments of pronounced transient loads, characteristic of blowdowin wind tunnels like the T-38 of the Military technical Institute in Belgrade, it is necessary to provide control of the use of internal wind tunnel balances in the permitted design load ranges. The presented technique is related to the definition and implementation of a methodology for reducing the transient loads on wind tunnel balances in supersonic wind tunnel tests. By limiting the clearance between the model and its tail support (sting) to a magnitude which permits normal tests, but results in model-support contact during the excessive loads, part of the loads is transferred to the support sting, relieving the balance. The technique improves control over the wind tunnel test process, improves measurement accuracy and prevents damage to sensitive instrumentation (wind tunnel balances).

Nigella sativa seed effect on immune response and broiler chick's performance

In recent years, the use of plant powder as a feed additive in poultry and animal production has increased. In the meantime, the Nigella sativa plant has analgesic, antibacterial, and immune-stimulating properties. In this, study the effect of Nigella sativa on the immune responses and the performance of vaccinated broiler chickens with Newcastle disease and infectious bursal disease was evaluated. The research was conducted on a poultry farm at the Middle Technical University, Kut Technical Institute, Iraq. One-hundred-and-eighty-day-old broiler chickens of Ross 308 were divided into three equal groups with four replications (subgroups included fifteen chickens). All groups were maintained under similar conditions. Food and water were provided ad libitum. Group one was the control, and group two and three birds were vaccinated against live attenuated ND and IBDV. Nigella sativa seeds were used as 1% powder in G3. Blood samples were collected from 15 birds of each group at 17 and 35 days of age. ELISA kits were used to detect the antibody titer against ND and IBDV. Body weight, mean weight gain, the feed, the mean daily feed intake, and Feed Conversion Rate (FCR) were determined weekly and over a period of 1–35 days. Statistical analysis of the data was performed using SAS 9.1. The antibody titer in G1 was not increased during the experiment. NDV and IBDV antibody titer in the G3 group was significantly more than group 2 (p < 0.05). The average body weight, feed consumption, and Weight gain during the five-week study in group 3 was significantly different and higher than other groups (p<0.05). The FCR in group 3 was significantly lower than in groups 1 and 2 (p<0.05). The present study confirmed that adding Nigella sativa to feed can be considered an alternative natural growth promoter for poultry instead of antibiotics and improve the immune system function against Newcastle disease and infectious bursal disease.

Multi-Criteria Decision-Making Interventions to Reinforce the Reading Skills of the Technical Students

Abstract - All readers have their own strategies while reading. They do face difficulties in using the appropriate strategy because they blend all the strategies to obtain or achieve specific criteria to achieve the desired comprehension, and in the end, they land up in significant confusion and inefficient reading. This paper aims to identify the vital reading strategies used mainly by the technical students while reading a text and further to classify the reading strategies under the designated criteria that are necessary to be practiced developing the reading efficiency among the technical students. Instead, if they try to find out the specific strategy to follow up for gaining the desired criterion, that will indeed help them better read any text. This paper is validated and illustrated mathematically using Multi-Criteria Decision- Making representation in assessing the data collected from students at different engineering colleges, including some central technical institutions. This paper provides technical students with an idea of using a specific and appropriate strategy which helps them in the application of precis strategy while facing challenges in different aspects while reading. Knowledge and Attitudes of Students About Water Pipe Smoking at Technical Institute / Alsuwayra in Middle Technical University

Water pipe (WP) is also referred to as Narghile, Hubble-bubble, Ghoza, and Hookah, depending on the country. Water pipe tobacco smoking is a type of tobacco consumption that involves smoking flavored or unflavored tobacco via a single or multi-stemmed instrument. The objective of the study knowledge and attitudes about water pipe (shisha) smoking. A descriptive cross-sectional study design (mixed methods design) was carried out at the technical institute –Suwaira. Included (240) students. The sampling technique was a random sample, and data was collected using an interview with students, from December 2021 to March 2022. Results of the study show demographic characteristics of students' age groups (21-24) years (50.0%), type of smoking (21.2%) of smoking both (cigarettes and water pipes), the overall level of knowledge to study sample about waterpipe smoking was intermediate knowledge (67.1%). The conclusions of the study show a majority of participants were smoking (52.1%), and most of them were smoking both (Cigarettes, Water pipes). Knowledge of students about waterpipe smoking was more (Yes) responses are harmful to health, the overall level of knowledge about waterpipe smoking was intermediate and poor knowledge. The study recommends great interest to the Ministry of Health and the consideration of the adjustment of strategies to improve knowledge, change attitudes, and correct the misconceptions about the habit of WPS, especially among students in colleges and universities.

Development and innovations in technology and vocational education in Nigeria

The development and innovations in technology and vocational education could be a veritable instrument for national economic development in Nigeria. The growing awareness of the need to adapt technology and vocational education to meet the rapid global economic requirement is absolutely essential. Thus, technology and vocational education is a mechanism that could help for improving the quality of workforce by humanizing their mobility, adaptability and productivity. Technology and vocational education indirectly could contribute to the enhancement of firms' competitiveness in the globalized world. This is so because one of the most important features of technology and vocational education is its orientation towards the world of work and the emphasis of its curriculum on the acquisition of employable skills. It is important that government should focus on acquisition of employable skills for the youths so as to divert their attention from these social vices that have bedevil the nation. Thus, it is absolutely essential to examine the development and innovation achievable in technology and vocational education in Nigeria. It is concluded amongst others, that Nigeria government should look inward and recognize the fact that technology and vocational education as the bedrock for meaningful technological growth and national development. It is recommended that the government, stakeholders, policy makers in Nigeria should focus on technology and vocational education, quality assurance and best practices that have worked in advanced countries around the world. Also the government should adequately fund, plan, implement, and manage technology and vocational education programmes in technical institutions in Nigeria. Finally there should be a synergy between the school industry linkages and where students are trained must be a replica of the environment in which the students must subsequently work.

Job training schools at the Giornata della Tecnica: a contribution for a history of professional education in the years of fascism

A scant literature is devoted to analyse the evolution of vocational education in Italy during Fascism. The article aims at addressing (even partially) to the issue using a particular kind of sources: the publication the Provincial Scholastic Deputy had to write in 1941 for celebrating the “Giornata della Tecnica” (Day for the promotion of Technical Culture), introduced by Fascism in 1940 for prompting enrolment in technical institutes and, almost of all, in the so-called scuole d’avviamento professionale (job training schools). Reformed since 1929, the scuole d’avviamento professionale were a three-year post-elementary course whose enrolments highly expanded during 1930s. Scholastic reform planned in 1939 – the so-called “Carta della Scuola” – aimed at abolishing this school. At its place, were planned two kinds of vocational schools, the scuola professionale (vocational school) and the scuola artigiana (craft school): both of them would have granted to their pupils less possibilities to change their social status than the scuola d’avviamento did. Publications analysed show a twofold attitude towards these institutes: some headmasters presented them as a way for pupils to achieve higher level of education; however, scholastic officer regarded them as a “diverted” school, which encouraged pupils to flee from their social and territorial environment.
