Preface

Since its inception in 2018, IWEG conferences (International Workshop on Environment and Geoscience) were successfully held for last six years, Hangzhou (2018, 2019, 2021), online (2020, 2022, 2023) attracted delegates from a lot of countries and regions including China, Australia, Poland, Slovenia, Japan and so on. As an annual international conference, IWEG aims at being a fast and efficient platform for researchers and scholars worldwide to discuss recent developments in the area of Environment and Geoscience.There were about 40 experts and scholars attending the conference. Three sessions were included: keynote speeches, oral presentations and poster presentations, covering a wide range of Environment and Geoscience. There were 3 keynote speakers, 3 oral presenters and 6 poster presenter sharing their latest research results and ideas with the audience.This conference proceeding included 11 accepted articles selected from 53 submissions, all the papers have been through rigorous review and process to meet the requirements of international publication standard. We would like to express our gratitude to the reviewers of these manuscripts, who provided constructive criticism and stimulated comments and suggestions to the authors. We are extremely grateful as organizers, technical program committee and editors and extend our most sincere thanks to all the authors for their excellent contribution and work. Preface

The development of Geotechnical Engineering goes together through the Case Histories considering the geological and geotechnical condition of the site. The most primitive geotechnical case histories may be dated back to 4000 BC in Egypt and until today; Geotechnical case histories have been the backbone of the sustainable growth of the infrastructures for the city and other purposes. The conference on Case Histories in Geotechnical Engineering reflects the motivations of our engineers to exchange knowledge and ideas due to the many problems that arise in the last decade. The growth of the economy of Indonesia recently is amazing, and the same for most Asian countries. Together all these factors have caused the increasing need of geotechnical advisory. The awareness of the demand for keeping up with the geotechnical technology motivated our university with series of workshop and conference about Case histories in Geotechnical Engineering. In conjunction with this conference AsRTC6 (Asian Regional Technical Committee) of GeoUrban Engineering take part in the GEOCASE 2023 Conference to enhance the meaningful of this conference theme.Many universities, research institutions, contractors and geotechnical consultants have gained experience and knowledge which are suitable for particular site. Case histories are also of significant values for the state of the art practice. Hence the seminar is very important event for exchange of ideas and experience and for contribution all over the world..I would like to extend my appreciation to all of you who have been travelling from far distance and specially to the Keynote Speakers and authors who made their efforts to share their knowledge and experience to the audience. A peer-reviewed International Conference on Engineering of Optical System and Precision Instruments (ICEOP 2023) was held on August 26-27 at the academic exchange center of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, in Wuhan, China.The conference was made stimulating and informative by three plenary keynote speeches by the pioneers of their fields. Prof. Haiming Luo, Professor of Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), China; Prof. Jinbo Pang, Professor of Chemistry and Materials Science, Institute for Advanced Interdisciplinary Research (iAIR), University of Jinan (UJN), China; Prof. Martin Becker, Professor of Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology, Germany, delivered their wonderful talks. There are also 10 oral presentations and 5 posters are presented at the ICEOP2023 conference. At the end of each presentation, there will be 5 minutes for a question-and-answer to facilitate communication among participants.This volume is a compilation of 18 selected papers from ICEOP 2023 and focuses on recent advances experiences, and emerging trends that have positively impacted our world in optical engineering and precision instruments, which has provided such a platform to researchers, engineers, industrial professionals, and practitioners of the optical engineering and precision instruments field from all over the globe. Four sections are divided: Modern Optical Engineering, Image Acquisition and Processing, Laser Technology, and Optoelectronic Engineering and Precision Control. Development situation and prospect on the international standardization of traditional Chinese medicine

The international standard for traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) released by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is of great significance in promoting China’s international trade of TCM and exerting its role in global health governance. This article expounds on the development course of TCM international standardization centering on the construction and development of the Technical Committee of TCM within ISO (ISO/TC 249), analyzes and evaluates the achievements and the current situation on international standardization of TCM released by ISO, and puts forward future development ideas on this basis.

2023 3rd International Conference on Fluid and Chemical Engineering (ICFCE 2023) has been successfully held on July 20-21, 2023, in Wuhan China. Assessment of existing concrete bridges by load testing: barriers to code implementation and proposed solutions

As the existing bridge stock is aging, the task of assessing these bridges becomes increasingly important. One of the assessment methods for existing bridges is load testing. Improvements in the field of diagnostic load testing are related to the use of numerical models. Improvements in the field of proof load testing focus on the safety of the execution of the test as well as the required load in the test. What is still lacking is a reflection of these recent advances in the codes and guidelines used for load testing of bridges. Two approaches are proposed to address this lack. The first approach attempts to answer fundamental questions with regard to bridge load testing through research. The second approach is to coordinate efforts and facilitate collaboration and exchange of ideas internationally through the IABMAS Technical Committee on Bridge Load Testing. In conclusion, it is expected that these efforts will form the basis of improved recommendations for the assessment of concrete bridges by load testing to be included in codes and guidelines and to serve the community of engineers faced with the task of assessing ageing infrastructure.

This briefing note summarises the background and current progress of ICOLD (International Commission on Large Dams) Technical Committee B, which covers seismic aspects of dam design. It summarises the ICOLD Technical Bulletins, which are currently being drafted and the activities of the technical committee during the 2023 ICOLD annual meeting.

Vision on metal additive manufacturing: Developments, challenges and future trends

Additive Manufacturing (AM) is one of the innovative technologies to fabricate components, parts, assemblies or tools in various fields of application due to its main characteristics such as direct digital manufacturing, ability to offer both internal and external complex geometries without additional cost, and the potential of varying materials at the voxel level. However, despite high anticipations, AM as a real revolution for serial production of metal components has yet to be seen, mostly due to lacks of fundamental understanding, design engineering tools, and the global robustness of the value chains. This paper aims to provide a vision about the future of metal AM based on the collective knowledge of all ten scientific and technical committees of the International Academy of Production Engineering (CIRP).

This briefing note summarises the current progress of International Commission on Large Dams Technical Committee C – Hydraulics for Dams, which provides guidance on new developments in hydraulics for dams. The note includes references to recently completed technical bulletins about to be published and details of one currently being drafted.

Towards FAIR Research Data in Metrology

Good data management is necessary to maintain the trustworthiness and reliability of data. This is particularly important in metrology, the science of measurement, which ensures stable, comparable, coherent, and traceable measurement results. The digitalization of metrology has increased the demand for structured and harmonised research data management (RDM).
 To meet this demand, the project TC-IM 1449 "Research data management in European metrology" was established in 2018. The project aims to promote good RDM practices underpinned by the FAIR principles, supporting traceability and reproducibility of measurement results. For that purpose, the project is providing researchers with the knowledge, competency, awareness, and tools to implement good RDM practices.
 The project has formulated a vision for RDM in metrology for the support of scientists by developing and disseminating recommendations and in the organisation of training. As part of this vision, the project has produced several deliverables, including a template research data management policy, guidelines for data documentation, creation of metadata, and quality assurance for data publication. The project is also creating a comprehensive guide to RDM, a checklist for project coordinators, and providing training modules.
 The project's activities reflect the needs of metrologists that are collated and communicated by the technical experts from the relevant Technical Committees and European Metrology Networks. Furthermore, the project's deliverables will be an invaluable resource for researchers seeking to effectively manage and share their research data.

This briefing note summarises the history and current progress of ICOLD (International Commission on Large Dams) Technical Committee M, which covers the operation and maintenance and rehabilitation of dams. It identifies the ICOLD Technical Bulletins completed to date and those which are currently being drafted.

ASSESSMENT OF THE FIRE RESISTANCE OF BUILDINGS FROM FIREPROOF REINFORCED CONCRETE BUILDING STRUCTURES

The authors conducted an analysis of the current state of evacuation of low-mobility population groups from high-rise residential buildings in the event of a fire. The analysis of the literature made it possible to formulate a number of obstacles to the effective evacuation of people from high-rise residential buildings. Norms in the field of fire safety are not perfect and, as a rule, are aimed at ordinary categories of citizens. The goal of approaches to evacuation calculations is to reduce the time it takes to evacuate residents of a high-rise building in the event of a fire. The authors substantiated the possibility of safe self-evacuation in the event of a fire of the less mobile population groups using fire elevators. Mathematical and graphical calculations of people's evacuation time were carried out using the Pathfinder software complex with the use (without use) of fire elevators. The authors performed a mathematical calculation of the time of evacuation of people and the time of blocking by dangerous factors of fire evacuation routes during a fire in accordance with the methodology of DSTU 8828:2019 Fire safety. To confirm the effectiveness of using fire elevators for the evacuation of people belonging to the M4 population groups with limited mobility (disabled people who move around in wheelchairs), the calculation part was performed. The object of the calculations is a high-rise apartment building on the street. Baidy Vyshnevetskoho, 68 in Cherkasy. The authors determined the dependence of the evacuation time on the movement parameters of people of different mobility groups. The authors compared calculations of evacuation time by stairwell and using fire elevators. Fire elevators are effective when evacuating people from floors for the category of mobility group M4. The researchers proposed management solutions to increase the level of fire safety, ensure the constant readiness and operability of fire elevators for evacuating people with reduced mobility from high-rise residential buildings. Over the last 5 years, MEIE has been held in various locations, including Hangzhou (2018 & 2019), online conferences (2020 & 2022), and hybrid event in Kunming (2021), attracted participants from 14 countries and regions including Sweden, Canada, the United States, Australia, China, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea…The Sixth International Conference on Mechanical, Electric and Industrial Engineering (MEIE 2023) was co-organized by China Institute for Quality Research (Shanghai Jiao Tong University) and Faculty of Mechanical Engineering & Mechanics, Ningbo University, which was held successfully during May 23-25, 2023 in Sanya, China. This event attracted about 70 participants from all over the world, and addressed both basic research and the societal/industrial-technological needs within mechanical, electric and industrial engineering.Conference program was divided into 3 sessions: keynote speeches, oral presentations and poster presentations. We are honored to invite 3 experts to give the impressive lectures. Following the keynote speakers, there were 20 oral presenters and 13 poster presenters. During these sessions, presenters shared their latest achievements. Audiences were actively participated as well.The accepted papers have been through rigorous peer review to meet the requirements of international publication standards. Many thanks to the authors for their valuable contributions and to the attendees for their active participation. It is our pleasure to introduce you the Proceedings of 2023 7th International Conference on Robotics and Machine Vision (ICRMV 2023). Interest in robotics and machine vision have remarkably increased in recent years. The extensive illustrations and the consistently succinct yet insightful papers reflect all the authors’ depth and rigor as researchers in these fields. The major emphasis of this proceeding is on robotics and machine vision, provides a very useful instructional tool to the readers who are still in studies.The volume includes 8 selected papers which were submitted to the conference from universities, research institutes and industries. Each contributed paper was rigorously peer-reviewed by reviewers who were drawn from a large pool of technical committee members as well as other international reviewers in related fields. We believe that the proceeding has met its goal of providing reference in researching on conference themes.The objective of ICRMV 2023 has always been bringing together a group of researchers, scientists, academics, and engineers in the area of robot systems and applications from all over the world, who share much more than technical interests, among other things, culture and history. The 2023 9th International Conference on Applied Materials and Manufacturing Technology (ICAMMT 2023) was held in Qingyuan, China on April 24th–26th, 2023 (hybrid conference). The series of ICAMMT workshops was created in 2014 with the aim to be an interdisciplinary incubator for the worldwide exchange of innovative ideas and information about the latest research results.At ICAMMT 2023, we wished to bring together a broad community of researchers from different branches of the rapidly developing science to discuss the fundamental theoretical challenges as well as experimental and applied aspects of many practical problems. The program of ICAMMT 2023 was prepared based on three categories.ICAMMT 2023 attracted about 200 participants from about 15 countries. There were four invited speeches and many regular oral talks in the morning and afternoon sessions. The speakers are: Prof. Xun E (Bohai University, China), working on Internet of Things Intelligent Computing, Food Safety Informatization; Prof. Honggang Dong (Dalian University of Technology, China), committed to dissimilar materials joining technology and metallurgy, composition design of welding materials, and numerical simulation of welding processes; Prof. Robert G. Landers (University of Notre Dame, America), devoted to modeling, analysis, monitoring, and control of manufacturing processes, and the estimation and control of lithium-ion batteries and hydrogen fuel cells; Prof. Yusri Yusof (Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, Malaysia), interested in the manufacturing of smart devices & technology development and digitalization & Retro-Fit CNC machines. The keynote speeches allowed all the participants to interact with the speakers and people around as well as get some novel insights.The papers submitted to this volume were carefully reviewed by referees, covering topics on: Corrosion of Materials and Surface Treatment Technology, Mechanical Behavior & Fracture, Mechanical Transmission Theory, Vibration, Noise Analysis and Control, Measure Control Technologies and Intelligent Systems, Micro-Electronic Packaging Technology and Equipment, etc.. We are very grateful to the referees for their very efficient and thoughtful review actions. A few submitted papers were unfortunately not included based on the referee reports.We are very grateful to the members of the Technical Committee for their time and hard preparing the program of ICAMMT 2023.
