The morale of disabled players and its relationship with some variables

This research aimed at detecting to morale level of disabled players as well as knowing the differences in degree of morale and influence of experience, educational achievement and age on it. The researcher used the descriptive method according the case study method in addition to the morale scale prepared by the researcher after ensuring validity, reliability, and objectivity of this scale. The subjects were (25) players from Anbar Governorate teams who participated in tournaments for 2022-2023 season. The researcher concluded that level morale of the players was low, in addition that there was no effect of educational attainment, experience, and age on the level of morale. Finally, the researcher stressed the necessity to pay attention the humanitarian, social, as well as technical and administrative aspects of clubs and federations in addition to spreading familiarity, love and affection among players and encouraging team play.

Will You Be Watching Me? A Conjoint-Based Study on Employee Attitudes Toward Personal Data Usage in Smart Factories

The rapid transformation of the industrial sector requires strategies to integrate digitalization and monitoring. While these advancements promote data-driven optimization of manufacturing processes, they raise concerns regarding employee data privacy. This study shifts the focus from the prevalent technological perspective to the perspectives of employees, critically examining the factors influencing their willingness to share data. Employing a Choice-Based Conjoint Analysis with n = 132 participants, our research suggests a strong preference for exclusive control over access to personal data, particularly health-related information, indicating that privacy concerns typically eclipse the advantages offered by data sharing in the workplace. Using latent class analysis, we distinguish between two employee groups characterized by distinct privacy attitudes: “Data Protectors” and “Team Players.” These findings underline the need to further investigate the influence of employee diversity, including demographics, attitudes, and job functions, to effectively optimize communication strategies and address diverse privacy expectations.

Physical and perceptual demands of youth international team match-play in traditional and aged-matched future teams for biologically late maturing soccer players

Background Given the rapidly increasing interest in national futures programmes, and the associated significant increased resource investment, there is a pressing need for data specific to futures programmes to inform practice across world football. Aim To investigate the differences in the physical and perceptual demands of match-play using Global Positioning Software technology and Rating of Perceived Exertion (RPE) in traditional youth international team and age-matched international future teams for biologically late-maturing players over one in-season period. Subjects and methods A total of 18 U15 future team (FT) players and 21 national team (NT) players were examined. Results The results showed that FT players performed 9% greater total distances (p = 0.008, Cohen’s d 1.29) and accumulated 20% greater total player loads (p < 0.001, Cohen’s d 1.88) than NT players during matches. In contrast, NT players covered 113% greater sprinting distances (p = 0.033, Cohen’s d 0.63) and performed 62% more high-intensity accelerations (p = 0.015, Cohen’s d 0.90) than FT players. There were no differences in high-intensity and very high-intensity running distances, number of accelerations, number of decelerations or high-intensity decelerations, or match-play RPE. When accounting for biological maturation, the adjusted marginal means were not different between FT and NT players in any physical metric except for total player load (p = 0.046) and high-intensity accelerations (p < 0.030). Conclusion We conclude that while several physical performance metrics differ significantly between FT and NT match-play, the most robust differences after controlling for maturation are in sprint performance and high-intensity accelerations.

Do sports analytics affect footballer pay?

Labor economists aspire to understand how workers' productivity impacts pay. While professional football is a well-established domain to explore this relationship, so far, research has relied on basic productivity measures. Football is now awash with advanced and granular performance metrics that can allow a deeper understanding of the pay-performance relationship. We specify a salary model considering the newly available data and use sophisticated performance measures to explain contracted salaries in the English Premier League and Italian Serie A. We make a methodological breakthrough by identifying a sample of players who are in the first year of a new contract only. This results in a much tighter relationship between pay and performance. We estimate different salary equations using both basic and advanced performance statistics. Our main findings are, first, that few of our advanced performance metrics help to explain player salary and, second, that there is misalignment between individual performance determinants of team points and player salaries.JEL codesJ41, Z22

Patient involvement in diabetes-related foot ulcers: What do patients need and prefer when undergoing treatment at multidisciplinary outpatient foot centres? A phenomenological hermeneutic study.

We adopted a qualitative descriptive design to gain a broad understanding of the experiences, needs and preferences. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 21 patients with diabetes-related foot ulcers using an interview guide. Patients were recruited from the four multidisciplinary foot centres in the Eastern Danish Region of Zealand. The methodology utilised a phenomenological hermeneutical perspective, allowing participants to share their experiences. The data analysis was inspired by Paul Ricoeur's philosophy of text interpretation. Three themes were identified: (1) Becoming dependent on patient involvement to cope and comprehend, (2) Experiences and needs regarding the involvement of relatives and equals and (3) Being vulnerable and limited by diabetes-related foot ulcers while striving for normality. This study emphasised the complexity of, and the highly burdensome, life that the participants experienced living with treatment-required diabetes-related foot ulcers while needing individualised and family-centred approaches, which are highly dependent on the healthcare professionals' communication skills. One of the most crucial aspects of patient care is providing individualised and person-centred information. The information necessitates the enhancement of healthcare professionals' communication skills. By emphasising the need for family-centred strategies, we can improve health and well-being by involving patients, relatives and patients' networks as active team players in the care process.

Basic Anthropological Characteristics of Elite U17 Youth Serbian Female Volleyball Players According to Playing Position

This study examines the differences in the anthropometric characteristics and motor abilities of young elite female volleyball players depending on their playing position. This study was conducted with 114 U17 female players of the Serbian national team (age: 15.4 ± 0.4 years; body mass: 65.8 ± 7.8 kg; height: 176.8 ± 7.7 cm). All participants had at least four years of volleyball experience. A one-way ANOVA revealed significant differences (p ≤ 0.05) in body mass (BM), body height (BH), body mass index (BMI), one-arm standing reach (1ARS), two-arm standing reach (2ARS), arm span, a medicine ball throw (MT), standing long jump (SLJ), squat jump (SJ), countermovement jump without an arm swing (CMJ), 5 m sprint (S5), 15 m sprint with a flying start (S15), 20 m sprint (S20), and t-test (TT). The results show that a player’s position significantly impacts their anthropometric characteristics and motor abilities, with liberos requiring agility and flexibility, while middle blockers and opposite hitters focus on strength and explosiveness. Outside hitters and setters achieved high results in jump tests, while outside hitters, although agile, had slightly lower results in the long jump. The results confirm that BH and BM, 1ARS, 2ARS, arm span, explosive power, agility, speed, and flexibility significantly impact performance, indicating that a player’s position affects their anthropometric characteristics and motor abilities.

The purpose of this study is to identify athletes preference of Protector Scoring System by brand and to check their understanding of performance and errors in different brands. A survey was conducted on 222 Taekwondo athletes regarding their perception of electronic body protector manufacturers. Frequency analysis and text analysis were performed, and Excel and net minder programs were used to calculate connection centrality values. As a result, between brand A and B, company A was found to be more preferred. How the game progressed depended on the brand of protective gears. The differences in game performance methods according to the two brands brand A and brand B were in the order of ‘Daedo’, ‘scoring’, ‘back’, and ‘kicking’. As a result of the responses regarding differences in game performance methods, the order was ‘scoring’, ‘kicking’, ‘brand A’ and ‘brand B’. College and business team players considered brand A was more fair and that brand A had lower error awareness than brand B.

The Ultimate 14-Day Challenge: The Journey to Becoming an Indonesian U23 National Football Team Player

Abstract This study explores the 14-day selection process for the U23 national football team. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, with data collected through observations and interviews with coaches and athletes involved in the selection program. The findings reveal that the selection process evaluates a wide range of attributes, including physical abilities, technical skills, tactical understanding, mental resilience, and strategic decision-making, all of which influence the final decision. This process not only focuses on physical performance but also highlights the critical role of psychological and tactical aspects in player evaluation. The comprehensive selection approach contributes to forming a more prepared and competitive team for international competitions. The study suggests that a holistic approach to athlete evaluation, covering physical, psychological, and strategic components, leads to better outcomes in terms of team readiness and competitiveness. Does the External Load Have an Impact on Winning Matches in Football?

The present study was conducted to examine the impact of external load on winning matches in football. The study group comprised players of the football team in the Spor Toto 1 st League. A total of 13 matches, including 6 won matches and 7 lost matches, were used in the analysis. The data on matches were taken from the 2022-2023 season of the Spor Toto 1st League. The following external load parameters were used in the analysis: total running distance (m), total high-speed running (HSR) distance, total sprint distance (m), acceleration distance (m), deceleration distance (m), ACD load, and maximum sprint reached (km/h). Data were collected with the wearable technology tracking system on football players during matches via GPS. The independent t-test was used in the program (SPSS 26.0) when analyzing normally distributed research data. The analysis of research data found a statistically significant difference in the total distance covered, total HSR distance, total sprint distance, and acceleration values among the external load results for the won and lost matches (p 0.05) but did not find a statistically significant difference in the deceleration, ACD load, and sprint speed values (p&gt;0.05). Consequently, it can be concluded that differences in many values that are considered necessary for success in the football field have an effect on winning matches in football. For values with no statistical difference, it may be recommended to conduct studies in a higher league, with more matches and more players. Keywords: football, external load, gps

The validity and reliability of the jump power app for measuring vertical jump actions in professional soccer players

This research examines the reliability, validity, and usefulness of the Jump Power application by comparing it with the reliable and validated Optojump photoelectric cell system in measuring squat jump (SJ) and countermovement jump (CMJ) in professional athletes. Twenty-two soccer players volunteered to participate in the research. The participants were the players of the U21 team in the 1st League. All athletes were subjected to SJ and CMJ tests. Jump Power app and Optojump data were acquired simultaneously during SJ and CMJ. Trial procedure was performed on three separate occasions (Session 1, Session 2, and Session 3), with 48 h intervals to examine the reliability of the data from session to session. For reliability analysis, coefficients of variation percent (%CV). Jump power app reliability values CV% is below 5%. In the validity analysis, significant differences were observed between the Optojump photoelectric cell system and the Jump Power App for SJ and CMJ. In conclusion, this study revealed that the Jump Power app is a reliable but not valid tool to measure vertical jumps in soccer players.

Americans’ attitudes towards the U.S. women’s national soccer team

ABSTRACT The United States Women’s National Soccer Team has been the recent subject of public celebration and critique, reflecting responses to the team’s competitive successes and activist efforts amid heightened political polarization in the U.S. Yet while studies have considered fandom of the team or trends in media, no research has examined patterns of public attitude towards the USWNT. We use data from a 2023 national survey of U.S. adults (N = 2,032) to examine public attitudes and their demographic predictors, positioning patterns in context of the cultural and political environment in professional sport. Findings show moderately positive views of the team, with just over half of respondents agreeing that they view the team positively and feel positively about team players as role models. Gender, education, and political orientation predict attitudes in regression models, with men, those with lower levels of education, and political conservatives holding more negative attitudes.

Cardiac remodeling in elite young Asian female soccer players.

An athlete's heart (AH) varies depending on race, sex, age, and the type and intensity of training. Given that soccer is a common sport, evaluation of cardiac function in soccer players is important; however, few studies have analyzed adolescent soccer players. Therefore, this study, aimed to identify early changes in AH in soccer players by evaluating the echocardiographic findings of adolescent Asian female soccer players for whom existing data are scarce. We evaluated 20 Korean female under-20 national soccer team players and 42 age-matched healthy females. Participants provided physical examination data such as height, weight, blood pressure, and pulse, along with echocardiographic results. On echocardiography, parameters related to the morphology of the left atrium (LA) and left ventricle (LV) and those related to the systolic and diastolic function of the LV were measured. The athlete group had a lower blood pressure and pulse rate than the control group. Echocardiography indicated that both the LA volume index and LV volume in the athlete group were large by approximately 1.5 times compared with those in the control group. The LV wall thickness and mass index were also significantly large in the athlete group. For LV diastolic function, parameters indicating early diastolic filling were substantially higher in the athlete group than in the control group. Adolescent female soccer players exhibited differences in cardiac morphology and an enhanced diastolic function. Therefore, this study suggests that AH begins in adolescence, with changes in both morphology and function.

Beyond xG: A Dual Prediction Model for Analyzing Player Performance Through Expected and Actual Goals in European Soccer Leagues

Soccer is evolving into a science rather than just a sport, driven by intense competition between professional teams. This transformation requires efforts beyond physical training, including strategic planning, data analysis, and advanced metrics. Coaches and teams increasingly use sophisticated methods and data-driven insights to enhance decision-making. Analyzing team performance is crucial to prepare players and coaches, enabling targeted training and strategic adjustments. Expected goals (xG) analysis plays a key role in assessing team and individual player performance, providing nuanced insights into on-field actions and opportunities. This approach allows coaches to optimize tactics and lineup choices beyond traditional scorelines. However, relying solely on xG might not provide a full picture of player performance, as a higher xG does not always translate into more goals due to the intricacies and variabilities of in-game situations. This paper seeks to refine performance assessments by incorporating predictions for both expected goals (xG) and actual goals (aG). Using this new model, we consider a wider variety of factors to provide a more comprehensive evaluation of players and teams. Another major focus of our study is to present a method for selecting and categorizing players based on their predicted xG and aG performance. Additionally, this paper discusses expected goals and actual goals for each individual game; consequently, we use expected goals per game (xGg) and actual goals per game (aGg) to reflect them. Moreover, we employ regression machine learning models, particularly ridge regression, which demonstrates strong performance in forecasting xGg and aGg, outperforming other models in our comparative assessment. Ridge regression’s ability to handle overlapping and correlated variables makes it an ideal choice for our analysis. This approach improves prediction accuracy and provides actionable insights for coaches and analysts to optimize team performance. By using constructed features from various methods in the dataset, we improve our model’s performance by as much as 12%. These features offer a more detailed understanding of player performance in specific leagues and roles, improving the model’s accuracy from 83% to nearly 95%, as indicated by the R-squared metric. Furthermore, our research introduces a player selection methodology based on their predicted xG and aG, as determined by our proposed model. According to our model’s classification, we categorize top players into two groups: efficient scorers and consistent performers. These precise forecasts can guide strategic decisions, player selection, and training approaches, ultimately enhancing team performance and success.

The Content and Game Action Weight of Senior Football Players as Goalkeeper

Football was and remains the number one sport, being very popular among the youth, both at the amateur and professional level. In recent years, specialists in several sports events, including sports games, have called for the differentiated training of athletes depending on their playing position. The players in the football teams are strictly specialized in playing positions, which are four in number: goalkeeper, defenders, midfielders, and forwards. The given article represents an extensive analysis of all the footballers’ actions in the position of Goalkeeper, here being analyzed in detail the content of the actions of the footballers in the position of Goalkeeper, as well as their weight in an official match. The recorded results will allow the design of a differentiated training program for footballers for the Goalkeeper position, which will allow its implementation in the sports training of senior goalkeepers.

Individual dynamics mathematical patterns of qualified basketball players competitive performance

Background and purpose Since the goal in sport is to overcome one's limitations and take one's functional state to a qualitatively new level, forecasting is an integral part of managing any process, including the athlete's training process. Purpose: to develop an algorithm and identify patterns of individual dynamics in competitive performance of eligible basketball players. Materials and methods The main team players of the men's basketball team of H.S. Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University. Twelve matches of the experimental team playing against national teams of other universities were analyzed. Observations were made on the players during the championships played by student teams from Kharkiv. For each player, the number of shots and hits from short, mid and long range, goal assists, shots and hits from the penalty line, and turnovers were recorded. To identify individual patterns of competitive performance dynamics, indicators such as 'total positive points in a match', which most accurately reflect a player's 'positive' contribution to the outcome of a match, were used. Results It was determined that the process of change in competitive performance should be treated as a variable process. The most appropriate function to describe this model is the sine function. It was shown that the regression model of the individual dynamics of competitive activity of the players of the Ukrainian national basketball team has a sine dependence, which is defined by the regression equation S + = a + bsin ((2π / t) (Т-c)). Where the coefficient a is the average value of a player's match performance, b is the amplitude of the change in a player's match performance, t is the previous period of a player's match performance and c is the value period in the first analyzed match. Conclusion The application of the regression sinusoidal model proved to be effective in practical studies. This is because, using only data from technical reports, it is possible to very quickly predict periods of 'rise' and 'fall' in an individual's game performance, which is useful for adjusting training programs and identifying psychophysiological individual characteristics of players.

The doctor’s presence created a safe space - a mixed methods study of students’ learning outcomes from an elective course in palliative medicine

BackgroundCompetence in palliative medicine is required in clinical practice. Based on a literature review, we developed a two-week elective course in palliative medicine for 5th and 6th year medical students. We wanted to study learning outcomes from the course, especially related to knowledge, confidence, and reflections on the doctor’s role in palliative care.MethodsA multiple-choice questionnaire (MCQ) assessed knowledge in palliative care pre and post course. The Thanatophobia Scale (TS) and the Self-efficacy in Palliative Care Scale (SEPC) measured confidence in communication with patients close to death and in providing palliative care, respectively. Reflection notes were analysed using Systematic Text Condensation, a cross-case thematic analysis. Lave & Wenger’s theory about situated learning was used to support interpretations.ResultsFrom 2018 to 2022 we ran four courses for a total of 48 students. Test results improved over the course in all four groups. On average, MCQ scores increased by 22% (range 13–33), TS scores were reduced by 28% (24–32), and SEPC scores increased by 50% (42–64), reflecting increased confidence in dealing with seriously ill and dying patients and their relatives. The participants prepared reflection notes describing their main impressions and take-home messages from the course, focusing specifically on the role of the doctor. They described the doctor’s role linked to an overarching task of creating a sense of security for patients and relatives. Through the course, and especially through talking to patients and relatives and being part of the interprofessional team, the participants learned how this sense of security was built by gaining competence in the following domains: 1) Patient-centred communication about the disease, expected trajectory, and needs, establishing common ground and support; 2) Being the medical expert in symptom relief and decision-making, providing guidance and reassurance in difficult situations; 3) Professionalism rooted in a holistic and relational approach; and 4) Being a good team player, aware of their function and limitations.ConclusionsA two-week student-selected course in palliative medicine improved knowledge and skills and increased confidence in providing palliative care. The comprehensive understanding of the doctor’s role obtained in this course may also be relevant to other clinical specialties.Trial registrationNot applicable (no clinical trial).

The Effect of High Interval Intensity Training (HIIT) on the Performance of Basketball Players 10-15 Years Old

Basketball is a game of seconds. A characteristic of this sport is the high intensity, the pressure of one or more different opponents, and very short recovery times. From a physiological-biomechanical point of view, basketball is classified among the sports activities with alternating aerobic-anaerobic energy commitment, with district demands of medium to high strength and endurance. Based on the High Interval Intensity Training Program (HIIT), in 8 weeks in a group of children aged 10-15, taking into account the efficiency of time, we look up to help the athletic youth progress, offering the improvement of other important skills, such as coordination skills, speed, and performance. This study aims to identify the biomechanical variables that directly affect their progress. In this study participated 15 subjects (age: 12.53 ± 2.09; height: 1.59 ± 0.10; body mass: 49.82 ± 16.78; BMI: 19.21 ± 3.98), basketball players of the basketball team "Sonia Basket." To achieve this aim, the CMJ (countermovement jump) and SJ (squat jump) vertical jump tests were performed on the force platform. The evaluation of the data was made using statistical analysis processing methods. The independent t-test results revealed a statistical improvement of 3 cm in the maximum height in the CMJ test and 90N in the maximum force in the SJ test due to the method called "HIIT." The results of this study of the HIIT method show a positive physical and physiological development of the players in such a way as to offer them the opportunity to express the highest level of performance in the game of basketball. If this training method is used for an even longer time, the results will be many times higher and will affect even more the improvements of all biomechanical parameters.

Effects of Mulligan technique in knee tendinopathy in basketball players

Introduction:Tendinopathy considered as a problem present in sports, like in basketball players.Patellar tendon injuries in the sport of basketball are widespread bigger compared to other sported nearly (21,5%)of injuries.The purpose of aour study is to evaluate the effect of the Mulliagn technique on tendinopathy of the knee in basketball payers. Objectives: The objectives of this study is to evaluate the effect of the mulligan technique in the case of tendinopathy. How does the mulligan technique affect the improvement of the articular amplitudes for the knee joint and how does this technique affect the improvement of the pain level. Methods: This a case report. professional basketball in Gega basketball team 19-year-old male. During the routine assessment, the basketball player complains of pain while palpating the patellar tendon. Several tests were applied like the one-leg stand test SLDS and the Royal London Hospital test. Results: This study evaluates positive values for the pain scale; NPRS test from grade 6 pain pre -treatment in 2 and 0 scale of pain after first session e third session of mulligan technique. Also, regarding the articular amplitude, especially the flexion, we noticed its improvement from the first day after the treatment to reaching the final flexion amplitudes in the second treatment. Conclusions: The Mulligan technique in this case report of the basketball player of the Gega basketball team were effective in two important variables, range of motion of knee joint, especially for the flexion movement, and the absolute improvement of pain.

In modern basketball, effective team play requires players in different positions to perform specialized functions that match their physical, technical and psychological attributes. Understanding these functions is crucial to the success of the team. Identifying the functions and requirements of players at different positions is key to the success of any basketball team. This allows you to create an effective strategy where each player can maximize his or her potential. Purpose of the study: to consider the functions of basketball players playing in certain positions and to determine the requirements for players of different playing roles in basketball. Research methods: theoretical analysis and generalization of scientific and methodological literature. Results of the study. The functions of basketball players playing at certain positions are characterized. The requirements for players of different playing roles in basketball are revealed: point guard, attacking guard, light forward, heavy forward, center. Conclusions. The functions of basketball players playing in different positions are determined by their roles and responsibilities on the court. The distribution of players by function is an important aspect of organizing team play in basketball. This distribution allows to achieve an organized and purposeful game, taking into account the individual capabilities of each player. The distribution of playing roles among players depends on their physical and psychological characteristics. The anthropometric data and skills of a player are taken into account when determining his role. However, it is also important to take into account the psychological characteristics of the player and his ability to cooperate with his teammates. It is necessary to clearly assign roles in the team in order to achieve success. Intragroup rivalry can have a negative impact on teamwork, so it is important that each player understands his own capabilities and has the ability to assess the capabilities of his partners. The requirements for players of different playing roles in basketball are their understanding of roles and responsibilities, ability to cooperate with partners, individual skill and ability to assess the situation on the court. This helps to effectively build a team that can succeed.
