Balancing roles: Teaching staff’s dilemma in supporting bereaved college students

This study examines the challenges faced by teaching staff in supporting bereaved college students. A three-year study was conducted in Danish colleges, involving focus groups and 1-on-1 interviews with 18 teachers from five collaborating colleges, situated in all main regions of Denmark. The research aimed to understand the role of college teaching staff in providing support during critical illness and death. Findings reveal an absence of clear structures, leaving teaching staff uncertain about their responsibilities. Challenges include inconsistent engagement, difficulty identifying bereaved students, and the need for more time, support structures, and training. Clear guidelines are essential to empower teaching staff in effectively assisting bereaved students. Providing support, resources, and training will enhance student well-being and enable teachers to fulfill their support roles confidently.

Research and Application of Performance Pay Platform Construction for College Teaching Staff Counting and Multi-scale Feature Fusion Networks

Abstract In this paper, a multi-scale feature fusion network is constructed by combining U-Net and Densebox algorithms, and feature extraction is performed by the deep residual network (ResNet). Taking colleges and universities as an example, a teacher reputation incentive model combining a multi-scale feature fusion network is established based on marginal productivity. The multi-scale feature fusion network is proposed to be used to realize the employee performance measurement level and personal appraisal system in the salary performance appraisal platform for teachers in colleges and universities. The appraisal test analysis of the teacher team’s performance and salary was carried out with the teacher team of School G as an example. The results show that the starting salary points of B1, C1, and D1 of the teacher team of school G are 2250, 1650, and 1260, respectively, in which the median difference in salary value between the highest grade B1 (9618) and the lowest grade I2 (784) is 8834 yuan. The performance pay management platform constructed in this paper effectively provides incentives and promotes the high-quality development of the university teaching team through strict assessment and fair distribution.

Evaluating the Academic Performance of Mustansiriyah Medical College Teaching Staff vs. Final-Year Students Failure Rates

Background: Evaluating medical colleges' teaching staff performance is an essential topic for evaluating academic performance. Objective: To assess the academic performance of the teaching staff in the pediatric, surgical, and gynecology branches in comparison to the medicine branch performance from 2014 to 2018. Methods: The total number and the number of failed students being examined in final years were obtained officially from the examination committee in Mustansiriyah Medical College for the final 6th-year students for the four main branches (medicine, pediatrics, surgery, and obstetrics and gynecology). The students' number in the medicine branch was used as the control group against which the performance of other branches was compared. We utilized the odds ratio from meta-analysis statistics and compared student failure and success rates. Results: The odd ratio of pediatric branch performance versus medicine branch was 1.02 with a 95% confidence interval of 0.68–1.53, while for surgery, it was 0.67 with a 95% CI (0.46 to 0.98) and 3.13 with a 95% CI (1.79 to 5.47) for the obstetrics and the gynecology departments. Conclusion: The performance of the pediatric branch was the only one compatible with the performance of the medicine branch. In contrast, both the surgery and gynecology branches significantly deviated from the medicine branch's performance. Further research is needed to pinpoint the causes of these performance deviations.

Research on the Training Approach and Practical Ability of Master of Civil Engineering and Water Conservancy in China

Chinese colleges and universities cultivate masters in civil engineering and water conservancy to meet the needs of the social construction industry for high-quality talents. Therefore, this paper expounds the current problems faced by colleges and universities in cultivating civil and water conservancy masters: weak independent learning ability of students, lack of improvement in the cultivation system of colleges and universities, weak teaching staff in colleges and universities, and single assessment methods for students, and then analyzes the lack of practical ability of civil and water conservancy masters. The factors are influenced by external factors and internal factors. Finally, the measures to improve the training methods and practical ability of civil and water conservancy masters include: strengthening the systematic practical ability training of colleges and universities, deepening school-enterprise training cooperation, and increasing the introduction of high-quality talents. Construct a multi-level training system and form cooperative teaching among different universities. In order to provide a reference for the cultivation of the practical ability of the master's degree in civil engineering and water conservancy in colleges and universities.

Exploration and research on the construction of university faculty in the era of Big Data

In the era of big data, in order to realize the ideal goal of establishing morality and cultivating people in colleges and universities, it is necessary to improve the intellectual education system and optimize the teaching staff in colleges and universities, we will promote the integration of artificial intelligence, big data, and the building of a highly qualified, intelligent, and professional teaching force to drive the strategy of building a strong country through education. The Influence of "Artificial Intelligence + Human-Computer Interaction" on Teachers' Psychological Changes in Academic Management in Colleges.

The purpose was to analyze the psychological changes of teaching staff in the academic management of local colleges, and briefly explore the role of teaching staff in the development of the social economy and colleges. In the environment of artificial intelligence and human–computer interaction (HCI), first, the relevant theories of teaching staffs’ psychological status and the characteristics of teaching staff in college academic management were analyzed and expounded. Next, the way of the questionnaire was selected to analyze the psychology of teaching staff in college academic management at different ages, professional titles, academic qualifications, disciplines, and teaching years. The results showed that the mental health level of college teachers was lower than the current national adult standard; the mental health level of female teachers in colleges was higher than that of male teachers; the p value of mental health of college teachers with different ages, professional titles, education, disciplines, and teaching years was greater than 0.05, indicating that there was no significant difference; the p-value of professional academic and mental health was less than 0.01, indicating that there was a significant correlation, that was, teachers’ professional academic exerted a significant impact on teachers’ mental health. In short, under the background of artificial intelligence and HCI’s rapid development, higher education was moving forward with high quality, and more attention should be paid to the psychological changes of college teaching staff.

Planning the Structure of University Teaching Staff Based on Multiobjective Optimization Method

University education is a hot topic of research in this era of outcome-based education in a learning-centric atmosphere, as people struggle for a higher quality of life and technological advancements. The key problems remain in structuring the teaching staff to achieve optimal information transmission and quality. Existing research aims to improve the quality of teaching of the staff, but majority of them fail to achieve their objectives. Multiobjective (MO) optimization has attracted researchers’ interest, particularly, in the context of performance monitoring and improving teaching quality. The goal of this research is to look into techniques for improving academic accomplishment through the planning structure of university teaching staff. I have adopted the Jaynes maximum entropy principle and fuzzy entropy concept to solve the structural optimization problem in the development of teaching staff in colleges and universities. The objective function and constraints in multiobjective optimization are determined, and the multiobjective optimization issue in the development of teaching staff structure is solved using the nondominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II) multiobjective genetic algorithm. The results show that the optimized structure of the teaching staff can reflect the goal of the construction of the teaching staff in colleges and universities and provide a scientific basis for the construction and planning of the teaching staff.

Implementation of Self-Directed Learning in Enhancing Skills Dedicated to The Community College Teaching Staff

Self-directed learning is a type used in the teaching force that requires high knowledge during the teaching and learning process. Self-learning requires educators to constantly improve their skills to prepare before teaching and learning. The purpose of this study is to learn self-study in Community College students. This study utilized a survey method which employed 169 Community College lecturers in Johor using questionnaire form. Overall, the results show a high percentage of strategies for drunkenness and self-directed learning. Therefore, this study found that there are several strategies for self-directed learning implemented by Johor Community College. These strategies have the advantage and potential in enhancing the existing skills of the teaching staff. Next, the highest implementation is carried out in open discussion. Open discussion can generate new ideas in the teaching force. Therefore, this information can assist lecturers in learning self-directed learning for their students.

The study aimed to identify the impact of inspiring leadership in reducing organizational conflicts among faculty members at the Iraqi University, by highlighting the dimensions of inspiring leadership, namely self-confidence, change management, employee empowerment, and strategic direction. This study relied on the data collected by developing a questionnaire designed for this purpose based on previous studies, distributed to (255) members of the teaching staff in colleges and scientific departments at the Iraqi University. To test the study hypothesis, multiple linear regression used. The most important findings of the study: The presence of a statistically significant effect of the four inspiring leadership dimensions in reducing the causes of organizational conflict, also that one of the most common causes of organizational conflict is the low level of cooperation between faculty members within the university. The study presented some recommendations, the most important of which are: the necessity of developing the dimensions of inspiring leadership by enhancing trust and spirit of cooperation between academic leaders and faculty members because of its direct impact in reducing the causes that lead to the occurrence of the organizational conflict. In addition, reviewing the policies that lead to non-cooperation and harmful and negative competition among them, as it is one of the leading causes of organizational conflict.

Conception d’un cours privé en ligne sur la formation hybride pour le personnel pédagogique du collégial à partir de la conception universelle de l’apprentissage : étude de cas et considérations pratiques

La conception universelle de l’apprentissage (CUA) est largement utilisée pour concevoir des cours en présence et en ligne, et ce, du primaire aux études supérieures. Toutefois, la formation continue donnée au personnel pédagogique a peu été examinée sous cet angle. Cette étude de cas présente la démarche et les considérations pratiques retenues lors de la conception d’un cours privé donné en ligne (SPOC) portant sur la formation hybride s’adressant au personnel pédagogique du collégial. L’opérationnalisation des principes directeurs de la CUA est présentée en lien avec la clientèle professionnelle ciblée tout en tenant compte des contraintes inhérentes au projet.

The making of politics and trained intelligence in the Near East: Robert College of Istanbul

This article examines the role of Robert College in Turkish-American relations in the early decades of the Turkish Republic. Relying on recently discovered archival sources and biographical accounts it explores political and educational networks between the United States and Turkey. Robert College, founded in 1863, was the first American College established abroad. It was, however, more than an educational institution; the College teaching staff acted as diplomatic and cultural correspondents for both countries. The trust the College staff earned among the Turkish elite during the First World War continued in the early years of Republic. This relationship turned into a more lucrative collaboration during the early periods of the Cold War. The story of Robert College in Turkey demonstrates the impact of trained intelligence on political relations between the two countries.

Job Satisfaction in College Teachers: A Survey Based Study of Government Colleges of Hyderabad, Pakistan

Background and Objective: The profession of teaching is one of most stressful profession in all over the world. The aim of current study was to examine the job satisfaction of teachers of Government Colleges. Methodology: The descriptive type of research was adopted and the data was collected using questionnaire and face-to-face interviews. 231 teachers out of 576 teachers were randomly selected and were given predesigned questionnaire. Meanwhile, face-to-face interviews were conducted from few teachers of each College in-order to assess the level of job satisfaction and root causes of dissatisfaction among the college teachers. Results and Conclusion: The results of the study indicates that due to stumpy salary and lack of various facilities in colleges, 52.38% of teachers were dissatisfied whereas only 29.78% senior teachers were found satisfied with job. During interviews, some new factors were observed to be affecting the job satisfaction in college teaching staff. Job satisfaction among male and female teachers have a high degree of positive correlation and there is also a positive correlation between job satisfaction and length of service. Based on the findings of the results, the present study suggests some modification in the existing policies leading to improvement of satisfaction level.

Features of Modeling the Formation of Teaching Staff Competitiveness

The state is interested in the formation of teaching staff competitiveness of both higher and secondary vocational education institutions, as it is associated with solving the problems of training competitive specialists for innovative production, increasing the social efficiency of organizations and institutions, economic recovery of the country. In this regard, this article reveals the specifics of modeling the process of the teaching staff competitiveness formation. Major approaches to the study of this problem were the integrative and milieu approaches, a symbiosis of which allows creating competitiveness of the teaching staff, taking into account the features of college educational environment, involving integration of educational, methodological and research activities of teachers; features of professional and interprofessional interaction between members of college teaching staff with staffs of other educational institutions, scientific research institutes, professional community. Specifics of modeling the formation of college teaching staff competitiveness consist in the set of components proposed by the authors (theoretically-methodological, functionally-targeted, substantive, procedural and productive clusters) and in their contents.

Inside/Outside the Ivory Tower: Teacher education in the English Academy

Drawing on the perspectives of 11 education lecturers, this paper examines what it is like to work in the Education Department of one small denominational College of Higher Education (CHE) in England. From what these lecturers say, it seems that the college teaching staff are located as either academics or as non-academics (educationalists); a binary which has been constructed over time. This positions teacher education lecturers who work in the CHE in structural contexts where it would be extremely difficult for many of them to perform any of the accepted traditional roles of academia. Although the focus in this paper is with lecturers who teach on a 4-year undergraduate primary teacher training programme, it could be argued that similar dilemmas of status differentials impact on all those who teach teachers. Thus, the paper argues that, to a large degree, educationalists are excluded (and perhaps work to exclude themselves) from participation in the academy and inhabit another world which perhaps more accurately mirrors the school room rather than the lecture hall. Teaching in higher education, in England as elsewhere, is therefore not of a piece; it is highly differentiated and internally divided.
