Integration of AI Technology and ZPD: Pinpointing the Zone of Student Development to Promote Educational Innovation and Efficiency Improvement

In the era of rapid technological advancement, AI has profoundly penetrated various sectors of society, including education. This paper explores the positive impact of AI on students' Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD), aiming to assist teachers in making more accurate judgments regarding multiple students' ZPDs and thereby enhancing educational teaching. The findings reveal that AI technology, through its application in ZPD, can provide personalized learning resources and assistance to students, as well as offer teachers appropriate teaching content and strategies tailored to students' needs. However, in the actual teaching process, the application of ZPD to teaching still faces difficulties related to students' individualization, sensitive emotions, and trust crises. Based on this, this paper puts forward the following suggestions. Teachers need to be actively trained in AI to overcome potential resistance from older educators. At the same time, teachers should focus on identifying further technological advances in ZPD and related areas to maximize the benefits of AI in education.

Study on the Role and Influence of AI in Personalized Learning for Second Language Acquisition

The combination of AI and second language acquisition can help to provide personalized teaching content and adjust learning more dynamically so that students can improve their learning efficiency and learning effect. Therefore, the use of AI in SLA has received widespread attention, but its accuracy and usability are still insufficient. This paper analyzes the particularity of SLA teaching and the application of AI in SLA, especially its potential to meet the unique needs of learners, optimize learning paths, and improve teaching efficiency. This paper concludes that the combination of teacher and AI is more ideal than the use of AI alone. Based on this, this paper proposes a new pedagogy that fully implements teacher-AI collaborative teaching in SLA. These improvements will promote a more effective language learning environment while strengthening the role of technology in supporting education, and these strategies will drive SLA teaching practices in a more personalized and technology-driven direction.

Research on the Teaching Design of Maker Thinking for College Students Based on Design Thinking

Maker education is an important way to cultivate college students' innovative spirit and practical ability, and design thinking provides new concepts and methods for maker education. This article analyzes the advantages of teaching design for college students' maker thinking under the background of design thinking, dissects the problems existing in current teaching design, and proposes improvement measures from the aspects of constructing teaching content system, innovating teaching mode, optimizing practical teaching, and establishing multiple evaluation mechanisms, in order to provide reference for improving the quality of college students' maker thinking cultivation.

Research on Teaching Practice of Big Data Platform Deployment and Operation Course with Shipping Characteristics

In the era of big data, big data technology has been widely applied, and the operation and maintenance of big data platforms, as a crucial component supporting these applications, has gradually become an indispensable part of enterprise IT architecture. The demand for talents with big data platform operation and maintenance skills is increasing. For higher vocational education institutions, how to cultivate big data platform operation and maintenance talents that meet professional requirements has become an urgent problem to be solved. In order to satisfy the enterprise demand for big data platform operation and maintenance talents and enhance students' employment competitiveness, this paper discusses the teaching content and teaching organization practice of the "Big Data Platform Deployment and Operation" course. The course adopts a project-based teaching mode, integrating the project case of "Ship Shore Power Data Analysis System" into the theoretical knowledge and technical explanations at various stages of the course. At the same time, it deeply excavates the ideological and political elements of maritime power and green environmental protection contained in the project, constructs a teaching mode with obvious shipping characteristics, and improves the quality of talent cultivation.

Construction of an Evaluation Index System for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education in Vocational Colleges from Students’ Perspective

Innovation and entrepreneurship education is an essential content in the current teaching of colleges and universities and an important driving force to promote students’ employment. Currently, colleges and universities continue to strengthen the innovation of innovation and entrepreneurship teaching, and the construction of the evaluation system of innovation and entrepreneurship education is lagging. The evaluation system is an important evaluation standard for innovation and entrepreneurship teaching and the basis for educational innovation, which is also a critical part of teaching that requires attention. This paper takes the construction of the evaluation index system of innovation and entrepreneurship education in vocational colleges as the research goal and understands the function of innovation and entrepreneurship evaluation as well as the evaluation principle through the literature analysis method. It also analyzes the evaluation index system of innovation and entrepreneurship teaching from students’ perspective to provide an effective reference for the implementation of innovation and entrepreneurship education in higher vocational colleges.

Research on Enhancing the Affinity of Ideological and Political Theory Courses in Private Universities in the New Era

In the new era, the ideological and political theory courses in private colleges and universities have the problem of insufficient affinity. College students in the new era have distinct personalities, psychology, and value orientations, but some college students feel distant from ideological and political theory courses. They do not pay attention to, understand, or even resist "big concepts" and "big propositions" such as the path, theory, system, and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics, as well as the lofty ideals and beliefs. Therefore, effective countermeasures must be formed to create a warm ideological and political classroom from the aspects of teaching content, teaching methods, teaching practice, and teacher team building, so as to increase the closeness of ideological and political theory courses among college students. Only in this way can the spirit of patriotism take root in the hearts of students and give play to the positive influence of ideological and political theory courses on the values of young college students.

A Teaching Design of Ideological and Political Education in the College English Listening Curriculum Based on OBE Concept

Under the guidance and requirements of ideological work in colleges and universities in the new era, curriculum ideology and politics have always been a highly-valued part of political work and curriculum sublimation of the government. As an important content of higher education, college English listening courses should better effectively combine curriculum ideology and politics with teaching contents. This not only enriches the content of English listening teaching activities but also enables students to think deeply and form correct views on life values, moral values and worldviews. In the English teaching method, the OBE concept insists on being “student-centered,” which is a results-oriented education model. On the premise of combining the syllabus and teaching content, this paper designs and discusses the first chapter of unit 3 in the book “Over to You 2” from the aspects of the specific teaching process, the analysis of the OBE concept and the integration of curriculum ideological and political elements, to give inspiration and reference based on the concept of OBE.

Research on the Reform and Innovation of Foreign Language Teaching in Art Schools

In the era of globalization, foreign language ability has become increasingly important for artistic talents. The traditional foreign language teaching model has been unable to meet the current social demand for artistic talents’ cross-cultural communication ability. Therefore, art colleges should speed up the reform and innovation of foreign language teaching. This paper first analyzes the existing problems in the current foreign language teaching in art colleges, including single teaching content, outdated teaching methods, lack of practical teaching, and insufficient teachers. Then, the paper puts forward some targeted reform strategies, including improving the teaching content to ensure comprehensive development. including innovative teaching methods to build efficient classrooms, exerting importance on practical teaching and enhancing practical ability, as well as strengthening the teaching staff and improving the teaching level. The purpose of this paper is to provide an effective reference for foreign language teachers in art colleges, effectively improve the cross-cultural communication ability of art talents, and cultivate art talents suitable for the development of the new era.

Teaching Innovation Design and Practice Analysis in Chemical Engineering Principal Course

The Principle of Chemical Engineering is the core course of chemical engineering and technology, pharmaceutical engineering and other related majors, which occupies an important position in the engineering discipline. However, the complexity of the Principle of Chemical Engineering course itself and the tedious teaching content led to the problems of single teaching method, disconnection between theory and practice in the course teaching, which led to low interest of students and difficulty in effectively improving the teaching quality of the course. Starting from the existing problems in the teaching of the Principle of Chemical Engineering, this paper discusses the innovative design and practical countermeasures of the Principle of Chemical Engineering course from the aspects of transforming, adjusting and improving the teaching content, innovating the teaching methods, and improving the assessment and evaluation system, so as to provide references for the further development of the principles of chemical engineering course.

Professional Dilemmatic Spaces in Swedish School-Age Educare

Global interest in the field of extended education has increased over the past two decades. Extended education in the context of Swedish school-age educare has a unique position in the school system due to its voluntariness and governance as well as the free time and leisure activities it offers pupils and the lack of set learning outcomes. These features create dilemmas for teachers; thus, this study aims to generate knowledge about the complex and challenging dilemmas of school-age educare teachers in their professional work. The results are derived from a thematic analysis of two sets of data: oral and written reflections from 22 school-age educare teachers. The three themes of the teachers’ dilemmas identified concern compulsory school vs. SAEC, offering pupils attractive teaching methods and content, and differing experiences and perspectives among the staff. The dilemmatic spaces that are recognised actualise positions and negotiations in everyday practices in relation to the teachers’ professional identities. The findings are expected to be useful as a constructive starting point for policymakers, teacher trainers, and school-age educare teachers to understand this specific educational context and the need for professional development. This study contributes to a further understanding of the multifaceted professional identities of school-age educare teachers.

Design and practice of integrating artificial intelligence into the teaching of "Synthetic Biology" under the background of discipline crossing

In recent years, artificial intelligence has been employed to empower synthetic biology, demonstrating great potential in the simulation and prediction of protein structures as well as the design and optimization of regulatory elements and metabolic networks. Integrating artificial intelligence into the teaching of Synthetic Biology is in line with the development trends of synthetic biology and can promote the cultivation of interdisciplinary high-level talents and collaborative innovation. This paper expounds the idea of integrating artificial intelligence into the teaching of Synthetic Biology from establishing interdisciplinary course contents and teaching methods, simultaneously considering the fundamentals and application of artificial intelligence in synthetic biology, cultivating independent learning and innovative practice abilities, and enhancing the ethics education related to artificial intelligence. Furthermore, a system integrating artificial intelligence with the teaching contents of Synthetic Biology is designed, which focuses on supplementing fundamentals of artificial intelligence and incorporating artificial intelligence into the classroom and experimental teaching contents of Synthetic Biology. Moreover, with the course of Synthetic Biology in Jiangnan University as an example, this paper presents the pathway of integrating artificial intelligence into the teaching of this course under the background of discipline crossing. Finally, the teaching effects are expected.

Developing Tasks for Real-Life Kiosk Transactions for Elementary Korean Learners

ABSTRACT This study proposes a task-based teaching approach to assist Korean language learners in effectively navigating kiosk interactions. With the growing expansion of non-face-to-face transactions, particularly driven by development in the service industry and the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a remarkable surge in kiosk installations worldwide. This study analyzed the language commonly used in kiosk settings and introducing tailored teaching methods and materials for beginner and intermediate Korean learners. The study comprises two main parts: data analysis and the proposal of teaching content. The data analysis section examines how the task of “ordering” is presented in Korean language textbooks and refines corpus data sourced by the National Institute of Korean Language (2022). Specifically, the study analyzes kiosk language, identifying lexical morphemes (nouns, verbs, and adjectives), significant collocations, verb endings, and dependent nouns based on frequency. In the teaching content section, the study presents educational materials grounded in task-based teaching to facilitate direct engagement with kiosks for practicing ordering food and beverages in authentic scenarios. The significance of this study lies in its exploration of pervasive kiosk-related issues in Korea, providing learners with practical language skills essential for navigating modern society.

English as a medium of instruction as part of the internationalization strategy at the University of Novi Sad

ABSTRACT University of Novi Sad (UNS) is strongly oriented towards internationalization, which entails the use of English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI). This process is defined by language education policy at the macro level (national legislation) and by university policies and strategies at the meso level (university documents). However, so far there have been no studies that focus on the connections between Serbian education policy regarding EMI and how it is put into practice. For that reason I conducted semi-structured interviews with 21 content area lecturers from six faculties at UNS in order to discover how clearly content area lecturers see and perceive their role in internationalization pertaining to EMI, as well as the ways language education policy is implemented at the meso level in terms of training lecturers for EMI and providing support for teaching content courses in English. Finally, I look at how language education policy is realized in the classroom to determine to what extent lecturers rely on EMI pedagogy hoping that the comparison of all three levels of language education policy will uncover weak points and provide a basis for practical solutions that will eventually lead to more detailed and data-driven language education policy concerning EMI.

Badanie potrzeb językowych studentów zza wschodniej granicy. Implikacje dydaktyczne dla praktycznej nauki języka na kierunku Studia polskie dla cudzoziemców

In the academic year 2022/2023, the Faculty of Polish Studies of the Jagiellonian University opened Polish studies for foreigners, which enables learning the Polish language as part of university education. Due to the growing number of students from Ukraine, the goals, effects and content of teaching in this field should be transformed to meet the specific linguistic needs of students from beyond the eastern border. The aim of the article is to present the teaching goals and priorities of students from Ukraine. The results of the study will be compared with the teaching rules of the contemporary methodology of teaching Polish as a foreign language to Eastern Slavs.

Influence of Teachers’ Professional Training and Development on Students’ Academic Performance in Public Secondary Schools in Ndhiwa Sub-County Homabay County, Kenya

Purpose: The persistent academic underperformance in public secondary schools in Kenyan rural areas has raised concerns among educators, policymakers, and local communities. The purpose of the study is to evaluate how teacher professional training and development influence academic performance. One of the key factors believed to have contributed to this challenge is the lack of sufficient and effective professional training and development programs for teachers. There is a growing need to examine how teachers' professional training and development influence students' academic outcomes. The problem this study seeks to address is the unclear and under-researched relationship between teachers' professional development and students' academic performance in Ndhiwa Sub-County. Methodology: The study used descriptive research design and 15 public secondary schools, 113 teachers and 522 students were involved in the study as study respondents. The study used document analysis and semi structured questionnaires to collect the quantitative data, which was analyzed through descriptive statistics (frequencies and percentages). Findings: The study reveals that teachers' professional training and development have a significant impact on students' academic performance in public secondary schools in Ndhiwa Sub-County. The findings also indicated that teachers who undergo continuous professional development are better equipped with modern teaching strategies, content knowledge, and student engagement techniques, which in turn positively influence students' academic outcomes. Teachers with higher levels of training and access to ongoing professional development demonstrate improved classroom management, increased use of learner-centered methodologies, and more effective assessment technique. Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: From the study findings, the study recommends that schools and educational authorities should develop more structured and regular Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programs that focus on subject-specific training, pedagogical skills, and updated teaching methodologies. This is because the study findings likely indicate that teachers who engage in regular training and development show better performance in student outcomes. The education policy makers should come up with the programs that forge partnerships between secondary schools and local universities or teacher training colleges to provide advanced training opportunities and access to educational research.

ELT in Nepal: Changing Teacher's Role in the Present Context

This reflective paper highlights English Language Teaching (ELT) practices in Nepal, focusing on various context and dilemmas such as choosing between monolingual or multilingual approaches, using local versus international materials, and selecting authentic versus inauthentic sources. It also examines the use of textbooks written by native or non-native writers and addressed obstacles and coping strategies involved. Additionally, the reflection discusses the major roles of English teachers in Nepal as a teacher, a researcher and a practitioner. ELT in Nepal has gone significant changes mirroring global shifts in ELT trends and practices. These changes include evolving attitude towards ELT, shifting goals of ELT, new teaching methods, updated curriculum design, revised teaching content and assessment, changes in medium of instruction, changing roles of teachers. Despite some ongoing confusions, ELT movement is progressing smoothly. This reflection is based on a review of relevant articles on ELT in Nepal and my personal experience as an EFL teacher in Nepal for more than18 years.

An Effective Concept for Teaching LabVIEW Programming to Engineering Students

In today’s technology-driven era, the demand for engineers with strong programming skills continues to rise across diverse industries. LabVIEW software stands out as a key tool in engineering, supporting applications ranging from test and measurement systems to automation and control across different sectors, like manufacturing, aerospace, and automotive. Proficiency in LabVIEW therefore enables engineers to work on a wide range of projects and applications. This article presents two distinct pedagogical approaches to teaching LabVIEW programming at the university level. The introductory course is taught using traditional direct teaching methods, with an emphasis on face-to-face teaching and classroom lectures. In contrast, the advanced course uses a flipped classroom model, where students work independently on preparatory material before participating in laboratory exercises. The latter course concludes with a large project, which the student must complete within four hours. The article provides details on the teaching methods and content of the individual courses, as well as an explanation of the assessment process for the final project. The analysis of the final project results confirms that the students have acquired the knowledge necessary to create functional LabVIEW programs with the appropriate programming style.

Bilingual lesson planning in Taiwan: challenges and implications

ABSTRACT This study aims to investigate the planning of bilingual teaching by in-service teachers in elementary and junior high schools in Taiwan. Through individual interviews and a questionnaire survey, the author examines (1) the principles that bilingual teachers (including content teachers and English teachers) integrate into bilingual lesson planning; (2) how bilingual teachers’ integration of these principles differs considering the types of teachers, levels of schools, and bilingual teaching experiences; and (3) challenges facing teachers in planning bilingual teaching. The findings indicate that when planning bilingual lessons, the teachers frequently considered the principles regarding the dimensions of content, language, teaching methods, teaching activities, materials, assessment, and class arrangement. On the other hand, teachers’ integration of the principles differed between teacher groups, and teachers encountered various challenges when planning bilingual teaching. Based on the findings, suggestions are made for bilingual lesson planning and teacher professional development.

Construction of Transportation Economics Course Incorporating Carbon Reduction Concept

The impact of carbon emissions on the environment is becoming increasingly severe. The transportation industry is an important pillar of the national economy and also generates a large amount of carbon emissions. Therefore, it is necessary to provide education on energy conservation and emission reduction to future transportation practitioners in higher education. This article takes "Transportation Economics" as an example to analyze the new approach of curriculum construction based on the concept of carbon reduction in the core courses of transportation majors, and introduces the innovative teaching methods and content of the "Transportation Economics" course based on the concept of carbon reduction.
