The Anechoic Flow Facility at the David W. Taylor Naval Ship Research and Development Center is a facility designed specifically for flow-noise research. The design objectives were low self-noise of operation and uniform, low-turbulence-flow in the facility test section. The facility features designed to achieve these objectives will be presented and their performance valuated. Necessary compromises in design made between the two objectives will also be discussed. Insights to further improvements in facility design gained from several years of use will be presented.
