A computer simulation of the double-component multiple recording method for video cassette recorders (VCRs) utilizing self-consistent recording process models was carried out, and magnetization distributions for a tape section and playback output were obtained. An intermodulation of the FM luminance signal and color-under signal, Y-2C spurious, and the interference of audio signal magnetization and video signal magnetization were clarified by using these magnetization distributions and Fourier analysis of the playback output. Some new, useful views on the design of VCRs utilizing the double-component multiple recording method were established. This simplified calculation method proved to be effective, since calculation results were in near agreement with experimental results. >
