Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have emerged as important tools in various industries, from military research to civilian applications such as agriculture, disaster management and research. This paper examines the technological development of GCS and current state-of-the-art developments, including advances in hardware, software, and human-machine interfaces. Through a systematic review of recent research, we identify key policy considerations, performance criteria, and challenges associated with GCS development. In addition, we explore autonomy, artificial intelligence integration, cybersecurity, interoperability standards, and other development trends that are changing the UAV industry landscape. Combining insights from academic literature, industry reports, and technology developments, this review provides a comprehensive understanding and new idea of the state of GCS technology and valuable perspectives on future research directions and practical applications in UAV systems.
