Enhanced alpha-amylase inhibition activity of amine-terminated PAMAM dendrimer stabilized pure copper-doped magnesium oxide nanoparticles

The present work aims to prepare copper-doped MgO nanoparticles via a sol-gel approach and study their antidiabetic alpha-amylase inhibition activity with undoped MgO nanoparticles. The ability of G5 amine-terminated polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimer for the controlled release of copper-doped MgO nanoparticles to exhibit alpha-amylase inhibition activity was also evaluated. The synthesis of MgO nanoparticles via sol-gel approach and optimization of calcination temperature and time has led to the formation of nanoparticles with different shapes (spherical, hexagonal, and rod-shaped) and a polydispersity in size ranging from 10 to 100 nm with periclase crystalline phase. The presence of copper ions in the MgO nanoparticles has altered their crystallite size, eventually modifying their size, morphology, and surface charge. The efficiency of dendrimer to stabilize spherical copper-doped MgO nanoparticles (ca. 30 %) is higher than in other samples, which was confirmed by UV–Visible, DLS, FTIR, and TEM analysis. The amylase inhibition assay emphasized that the dendrimer nanoparticles stabilization has led to the prolonged enzyme inhibition ability of MgO and copper-doped MgO nanoparticles for up to 24 h.

Eco-Friendly Biogenic Synthesis of Metallic MgO Nanoparticles as Potent Antibacterial and Antibiofilm

Green synthesis of MgO nanoparticles (MgO NP) is a facile method that can be easily used for various biomedical, agricultural, catalysis, physics, chemistry, and electronic fields. The construction of nanoparticles by this method makes it compatible with antibacterial studies. Statistical analysis was employed to derive a statistical model for the individual effect of the physicochemical conditions affecting the production conditions of MgO NP to upturn the dry weight to 3 mg /50 ml, which is 6.66 times larger than a basal condition (0.45 mg /50ml). The biosynthesized MgO NP was characterized using UV-VIS, FT-IR, XRD, and TEM. The green synthesized MgO NP killed both gram positive and gram-negative bacteria and disrupted nascent biofilms thus could be used as a potential nanomaterial for in vivo applications such as coating for a medical implant, suggesting new antimicrobial mechanisms. Apart from this, the work reported here stands out from others in various aspects. First, this is the first report (to the best of our knowledge), which calculates the yield of synthesized MgO NP by Bacillus paramycoides strain MCCC 1A04098. Secondly, conditions for optimal yield, different particle sizes of MgO NP were screened using Plackett Burman design and confirmed by UV-VIS spectroscopy, FT-IR, and XRD.

The green synthesis of MgO nanoparticles using dried jujube fruit extract and their anti-yeast activity against Saccharomyces cerevisiae

In this study, it was focused on the synthesis of MgO nanoparticles by using dried jujube fruit extract through nontoxic and eco-friendly green method for the first time. The nanoparticles thereby obtained were characterized by UV–Vis spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) in combination with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The formation of small-sized MgO nanoparticles was firstly confirmed by the maximum absorbance value at 320.3 nm. ATR-FTIR spectrums of the dried jujube fruit solid extract and G-MgO NPs showed the existence of bioactive compounds of the jujube fruit involving synthesis process of G-MgO NPs. According to the XRD analysis, the crystal structure of the nanoparticles was determined as face-centered cubic with the approximate average particle size of 21.96 nm. SEM-EDX and TEM analyses represented the synthesized MgO nanoparticles being durable and having spherical shape. We also found that while dried jujube fruit extract had no toxic effects, these nanoparticles show considerable effectiveness against eukaryotic model yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae with the IC50 value of 116.5 ppm.

Eco-Friendly Green Synthesis of MgO Nanoparticles from Zingiber Officinale(Ginger) Root Extract and its Antibacterial Application

In this study preparation of MgO nanoparticles using Zingiber officinale (ginger) aqueous root extract by using green method. The green synthesis approaches are recognized by many scientists due to its cost effective, simple, eco-friendly. The stability and reduction of Mg+2 ions to MgO nanoparticles were characterized by UV-Visible spectroscopic analysis. From UV-Visible spectroscopy, higher band gap energy of 7.8 eV is obtained in the near visible region at the wavelength of 300 nm. The Zingiber officinale (ginger) root extract act as reducing agent for stabilization of particle size as well as medicinal value result showed a significant antibacterial activity against pathogenic bacteria, E.Coli.and S.aureus. The present investigation deals with the green synthesis of MgO nanoparticles and its antibacterial effect on selected bacteria.

Synthesis of MgO Nanoparticles from Different Organic Precursors; Catalytic Decontamination of Organic Pollutants and Antitumor Activity

The present work deals with the synthesis of nanostructured MgO from different organic precursors, by a facile precipitation method as catalysts for the decontamination of Malathion (stimulant of chemical warfare agents) (VX) and orange G as organic pollutants. The as-prepared nanoparticles were obtained by thermal decomposition of the oxalate, tartarate, citrate, succinate, malate, malonate and glycinate precursors at ≈650°C and were characterized by thermal analysis, FTIR, X-ray diffraction, high resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM) and absorption spectra. The morphology and crystal sizes were found to be highly affected by the starting organic precursors. The results revealed that the prepared inexpensive magnesium oxides have high potential as catalysts for photo degradation of both Malathion and orange G from water samples. Inhibitory activity against Breast Carcinoma MCF-7 cell line was detected using some selected nanosized MgO and compared to that of Vinblastine as a standard drug.

The present research was mainly focused on synthesis of MgO nanoparticles by low temperature solution combustion method using urea as fuel for corrosion studies on aluminium 6065. The Surface morphology of the synthesized nanoparticle was examined using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The accurate size and morphology of synthesized nanoparticle was studied using Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). The phase composition of the synthesized nanoparticle was confirmed from powder X-ray Diffractometer (PXRD). The elemental composition of the metal was analyzed by Energy Dispersive X-Ray spectroscopy (EDX) method. Functional groups attachments are confirmed by using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Open circuit potential (OCP), Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) and Taffel were characterized by using Electro chemical workstation for corrosion studies of stir cast reinforced aluminium (6065) composite.

Synthesis of MgO Nanoparticles and Its Enhanced Broad Spectrum Antimicrobial Activity Against Selected Bacteria and Fungus

MgO nanoparticles were prepared by using sol-gel technique, the MgO nanoparticle was pure and chemically homogeneous, the determination of physio-chemical characterization of MgO nanoparticles showed standard techniques. MgO nanoparticles were used in study their ability to inhibit the growth of E. coli, pseudomonas aeruginosa, S. aureus, Candida albicans were found that MIC was studied by MTT assay in presence of different MgO nanoparticles concentrations for 24 hour, the results showed that 40 μg/ml of MgO nanoparticles was effective for E.coli and pseudomonas aeruginosa, 20 μg/ml and S. aureus while Candida albicans inhibited with 30 μg/ml. The shelf-life of MgO determined by agar plate methods MgO nanoparticles showed highly effective against selective pathogens by preventing the growth of gram positive and negative bacteria to more than 40 days and 21 days for fungi and this could significantly enhance microbial safety and extend the shelf-life of foods.

Banyan latex: a facile fuel for the multifunctional properties of MgO nanoparticles prepared via auto ignited combustion route

MgO nanoparticles (MNPs) were prepared by a solution combustion route using banyan tree (BT) latex and glycine as fuels. The powder x-ray diffraction results indicate the formation of a single cubic phase and the crystallite size obtained from transmission electron microscopy was found to be ∼10–15 nm. Scanning electron microscopy result reveals spherical-shaped particles obtained with BT latex. However, in a chemical route, porous and agglomerated particles were obtained. The energy band gap of MNPs obtained using BT latex and a chemical route were found to be in the range 4.85–5.0 eV. Photoluminescence peaks observed at 473, 514, and 588 nm when excited at 433 nm, which were attributed to surface defects. The enhanced photocatalytic activities of spherical MgO were due to smaller crystallite size, higher surface defects, dye sensitization, and capability to reduce the electron–hole pair recombination. Further, green-synthesized MNPs exhibit superior antifungal activity against various plant pathogens. The present studies demonstrated a green engineering route for the synthesis of multifunctional MNPs using BT latex.

Synthesis of metal oxide nanoparticles can be done through three methods like physical, chemical, and green methods. Present work focus on synthesis of MgO nanoparticles by Neem leaves through Green method. This method is non-toxic and eco-friendly. In this work, the precursor materials was Mg(NO3)2 and fresh Neem leaves extract. The Neem leaves extract acting as a reducing agent in the reaction. The particles thereby obtained were characterized by different analytical techniques. X-Ray Diffractometer (XRD) for to calculate the average crystalline size, Particle Size Analyser for average particle size, Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM) for morphological studies, UV-Visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis)for to analyse the absorption patterns, Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy is used for analysing the functional groups which is involved in the reaction.

Effect of carbon nanotubes support on band gap energy of MgO nanoparticles

In this study, the effect of carbon nanotube supports (CNT) on the morphology and band gap of MgO nanoparticles was studied. The synthesis of MgO nanoparticles on the surface of CNT supports was carried out by direct precipitation method and using magnesium nitrate in aqueous solutions containing CNT. The prepared samples were characterized using X-ray diffraction. The optical properties of the nanoparticles were studied using UV–Vis spectrometer. The results indicated that the presence of CNTs decrease the average size of the MgO nanoparticles. Also the use of CNTs as support has reduced the band gap energy of MgO nanoparticles, considerably.

Nanocrystalline magnesium oxide from dolomite via poly(acrylate) stabilized magnesium hydroxide colloids

MgO nanoparticles are in high demand, valuable products with specific applications such as a bactericide, catalyst, ceramic material and as an adsorbent. Synthesis of MgO nanoparticles from naturally occurring dolomite is very important for the reduction of their production costs and for the value addition to naturally occurring, impure minerals such as dolomite. Therefore, in this paper, we report on an effective method to synthesize MgO nanoparticles using a novel colloid of poly(acrylate) (PA−)-encapsulated Mg(OH)2 composite, which has been prepared starting from dolomite. The composite is synthesized by adding MgCl2, which was produced using dolomite, to a mixture of poly(acylic acid) (PAA) and NaOH. The composite is heated at 500°C to produce MgO nanoparticles. The Mg(OH)2 mineralized in the composite colloid is brucite nanoparticles with average crystallite size of 5nm. The final product of MgO nanoparticles occurs in the crystalline form of periclase with average crystallite size of 20nm. Incorporated Mg(OH)2 nanoparticles enhance the thermal stability of PA− by 160–200°C. The sedimentation of the Mg(OH)2 colloidal particles, which are stabilized by PA−, is initiated after 18h but it takes 2 weeks for complete sedimentation. On the other hand, the Mg(OH)2 prepared in the absence of PAA/NaOH is completely sedimented after 18h. A portion of 0.100g of synthesized MgO nanoparticles can adsorb over 93% of methylene blue molecules from 5ppm methylene blue aqueous solution at the equilibration of the adsorption, whereas the adsoption of methylene blue by the same amount of 300μm sized MgO particles is very much lower; 35% being the best value when 0.100g is used. The proposed method is of great industrial value due to the potential applications of byproducts in addition to MgO nanoparticles themselves.

Size-Controlled Synthesis of MgO Nanoparticles and the Assessment of Their Bactericidal Capacity

ABSTRACTThe present work focuses on the development of a reproducible and cost-effective size-controlled synthesis route for nanoscale MgO and the preliminary assessment of its bactericide capacity as a function of crystal size. Nanoscale MgO was produced through the thermal decomposition of Mg-carbonate hydrate precursor (hydromagnesite) synthesized in aqueous phase. The exclusive formation of the MgO phase, with an average crystallite size between 7 and 13 ± 1 nm, was evidenced by X-Ray Diffraction and HRTEM analyses. Fourier Transform – Infrared spectroscopy confirmed the evolution of the precursor into the desired MgO structure. The bactericidal tests were conducted by measuring the optical density at 600 nm of E. coli in presence of MgO nanoparticles of specific sizes. MgO nanocrystals with average crystallite sizes of 13nm inhibited bacterial growth up to 35% at 500 mg MgO/L. The mechanism of inhibition could be attributed to the formation of superoxide species on the MgO surface.

Preparation of Nano- MgO and Investigation of its Infrared Absorption Properties

A precipitation-pyrolysis process was developed for the synthesis of MgO nano-particles with diameter of 20~100 nm by using organic reagent, glycol, n-butanol and N,N-Dimethylacetamide, as shape and size controller. XRD and TEM were used to study on composition, morphology and size of the as prepared MgO nanoparticles. The results indicate that organic crystal controller is one of the key factors affecting the sizes and shapes of the nano MgO particles. When using glycol as a crystal controller, the dispersion of nano MgO particles is better and olive-shaped particles with sizes of 20~40 nm are prepared. When nano MgO particles are synthesized by MgCl2 and Mg(NO3)2, their particle sizes are smaller and their particles with olive shape. During chemical reaction process, Mg(OH)2 particles are already formed to be nano scale. Calcination process at the temperature of 650°C can change the crystal shape slightly. FTIR results show that nano MgO particles have abnormal infrared absorption behaviors compared with that of micron scale.
